It was not too busy for a Friday night at 6:50pm so we got to choose where to sit. We received complimentary ceviche and tostadas while we looked over the menu. It was too salty for my husbands liking. I seen a signage on our table for hh and we had 10 minutes so decided to try their watermelon margarita for $5. To my surprise, it was really good! I would have ordered another but he didn't come back to our table until after 7 and I didn't want to be that one customer asking for an exception lol I ordered the Vuelve a la vida, cold. It comes with crab meat, big firm shrimp, diced octopus, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, in a bowl of Clamato lime juice with an oyster on top. It was really good! I'll start this review with the caveat that I've only been here during lunch. However, both times I've been here so far, I've been impressed and very happy with the entire experience while at this restaurant. More of a sit down restaurant, you'll be seated and the staff will take your order. There isn't a chip and salsas bar, but that's fine because of the way the restaurant is. The staff is incredibly friendly and great throughout the meal. Instead of chips and salsa, you'll get ceviche, tostada, and crackers. The ceviche is good and a wonderful way to start the meal. It's included, so it's great. If you run out, the staff hasn't had a problem with replenishing the table. Having come at lunch, I take advantage of the lunch special. For nearly half the price as other restaueanrs and taquerías, (depending on the competitor), you can get a whole mojarra plate! There are other intriguing options included in the lunch special choices, and all of them are great deals. For the price, I can't complain about the options on the lunch special menu. The dish fills you up, and combined with the free device, you'll come out of here absolutely stuffed. It's an incredible value. The platter was good. I've had worse. I ordered the "Camarones Al Gusto" which translates to shrimp to your liking. Mine were "Al Mojo de Ajo" which translates to butter and garlic. The shrimp were medium in size and the butter garlic sauce they were cooked in was good. Normally my mojo de ajo is yellow in color because of the butter and the minced garlic is usually more apparent but the dish still worked. The refried beans served with the shrimp were very good. They weren't bland and had a dark brown color to them. The rice was like a white rice with peas and carrots. Ok rice but it very much needed seasoning or something that would give it some bold flavor that would go well with the shrimp and beans but it kind of fell shy. I made a few burritos with the flour tortillas that came with the order so with everything mixed together it was pretty tasty. I ordered my daughter breaded shrimp and fries and the fries of course were soggy and limp but the seasoning they used was pretty good. I ordered delivery so I can't attest to the service or ambiance. The restaurant boasts of being delicious, I just wasn't satisfied, I have had better. read more

Yummy!! I love Mexican seafood. Sometimes it's hard to find so here's a place that really specializes in seafood. There's so much to choose from; they have shrimp, fish, oysters, mussels, crab legs, squid, abalone, and even chicken and beef for those who aren't into seafood. It's ALL good here. Most Mexican restaurants will give you chips and salsa before your meal but Las Islitas stepped it up and gives fish ceviche to each table free of charge. That's great customer service if you ask me. On todays visit, I had a shrimp taco and a mariachi taco (bacon wrapped shrimp taco). You heard that correctly-bacon wrapped shrimp taco. Wow what a great idea, it was delicious. The only thing I'll do different next time is, I'll get my tacos without the sauce. They put a thousand island type sauce on both types of shrimp tacos, I'm not into the sweetness. Cool things hanging on the walls. You can say it's a sports bar kind of place. There's TVs all through the restaurant with all kinds of sports games going on!! Their menu is predominantly seafood Mexican as far as food is concerned. My friends enjoyed their seafood choices. I had the Carne Asada platter and it was good. The people here were nice and helpful. It was pretty busy so our waitress was running most of the time. Saying ehhhh ehhh you tastes good ehhh? Ok so trust me jerk the food is delicious here. Now order a variety of tacos. Now recapping on my first statement. Dude, I know you aren't a vegan restaurant...everyone hates us. Cool. Chill. All I did was ask for a damn burrito. But instead, don't put meat in it. Uhhh nope not happening. We don't take suggestions. I literally offered to pay twice as much for an even cheaper meal. Which is the sign of one major thing and I proved it later on. The food servings are enormous and can easily be shared and everything is delicious. The Chipotle shrimp are so tasty! It was nice to have ceviche as an appetizer, but I was dying for some chips and salsa. We had four people in our party so we had to keep waiting for our turn with the fork to get a little scoop of ceviche. Hubby and I both got shrimp fajitas and both parents got the pina relleno. The pina relleno was tasty but came with no rice or beans and no tortillas. For $22.99, I'd like some of that too. Out fajitas did come with rice, beans, salad and tortillas. The shrimp was pretty overcooked though. We ended up taking the rest and my mom asked if she could have it. I'm happy to say that I feel no need to go back because the food was just ok. read more
