Well, it turns out that this company is GREAT. JAMEE booked the appointment. She was nice and knew what she was doing!! This business is run and owned by a very cool couple CHAD & JAMEE. They work very well together. CHAD the owner/operator came to replace the pump. CHAD was very nice and very knowledgeable about everything pool!! He was easy to understand and talk to. He explained everything very simply. The replacement only took like 35 minutes. The job was done quickly with out leaving a mess & hev took the old pump with him!! Very nice. We had them service our pool for about 6 months. It started out great for 3 months, then for the last 3 it was just a nightmare, over and over our pool would turn green, even though we had the weekly service the included the weekly brushing and full service for $149. We would question why the pool was green and they would have some excuse or tell us that we needed the filters to be cleaned, to have filters cleaned is expensive! We would pay for the filters to be cleaned and the pool was still green! I started to watch their services because I have cameras in my property, and saw 2 things: 1- they were never there for more than 2 minutes 2- they would dump some type of product from a gallon, take a picture and leave. That's it! There was never measuring of any chemical levels, brushing of the pool or checking on anything. After months of calls and giving them chances for improvement, it was still green and our pool looked awful! Mind you that's it's a new pool built in 2021, so it's new. I finally let them go and decided to test the water as a friend told me to. We were completely shocked to find out that there was ZERO chemicals in the pool! ZERO!! We also opened up the filters to look at it, and they were NEVER CLEANED!! They couldn't be more dirty! We paid them twice to clean the filters, plus extra money to clear the green from the pool, that only got worse by the week. This company is completely dishonest and I'm so incredibly disappointed. I contacted California Clean Pools because I wanted to find a reliable pool service for my elderly Mom. I had an extensive conversation with the owner, Chad. I was very specific about my expectations and what I was looking for and Chad assured me his company could help us. Chad finalized the details with my Mom and was to start Friday. Friday rolls around and nobody shows up to service the pool. My Mom has to call Chad Friday evening who tells her he "forgot" to put her on the schedule. Immediately we noticed problems with the pool. It was turning green. We had to call Chad a few times asking about the chemical levels. He assured us the chemical levels were fine and the green was from all the pollen we had this year. Three separate times Chad made an appointment to come over and replace some equipment and all three times he failed to show. Nor did he call to say wasn't coming. All three times my Mom waited at home all day for him to show. Additionally, we were never able to reach anybody by phone. We had to leave a message, and would get a phone call back a few days later. The pool was first put in 1979, and was re-done in 2008. We have always had a pool service to keep it in tip top shape. In all our years, we have never had a pool service more negligent and unresponsive than California Clean Pools. We haven't been able to utilize our pool the entire summer. They have yet to return the key to our gate even though we requested they return it. Everything about this business in unprofessional and we wouldn't recommend them. read more

We have used this company for about a year. We thought it was great that they included a photo and chemical report on every weekly visit. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the significant change in levels of chemicals in the pool the past few months. We thought we ended up with black algae spots last week. We immediately let Chad know and he took 5 days to come out and look at it. At first he stated he would have to get a fancy kit to use to see what it was. When we stated that we thought it was black algae, he then agreed and said he would be back in several days to start working on it. Chad also shared that it was happening to several of their pools. We decided not to use Chad to fix it. We hired another company this morning who came out today to start working on resolving it. The good news is we don't have black algae. The bad news is we have permanent black stain spots on the plaster in a few places. It was caused by the way the chlorine was put in the pool and burned the plaster. We have had California clean pool for three months. Our pool has never looked so bad! They have the worst service, and they could not get the pool under control. Very poor service! I do not recommend them. We never had a chemical problem until they started the service. The only reason we had to change was the pool service we had for 17 years went out of business due to illness. read more

The only reason I am giving them a 2 is because they were good at first; that did not last long. I started service with them in December 2022 and they were helpful while the pool filter pump was acting up and had to be replaced. Then comes Feb 2023 and I notice the water isn't as clear or if there anything I should be doing on my part. They said no but nothing changed. In March I had issues with the filter and it took SEVERAL texts/phone calls to attempt to get someone out there to take a look at what was going on. My filter was not running for a good 2.5 weeks, while I am trying to troubleshoot the issue. I ended up hiring someone else to come take a look. I understand it is a busy time but I am a paying customer so I was not asking to do anything for free. Their apparent unresponsive-ness was the reason I ended up going with someone else for pool services (May). While they were providing monthly services, they also were not very transparent on their services; i.e. what is included or not. In April they went ahead and scheduled next day filter cleaning without my consent which would have been extra paid service if I hadn't caught it in time. They would mess up on the invoices frequently, so I had to be extra careful in making payments. Just getting a hold of someone for an actual phone conversation was a nightmare. And communication via text messages was half thought out. It was almost like someone else was the gate keeper of the work and not really communicating with technician(s). O and right in the middle of summer (July), the BRAND NEW FILER PUMP that they replaced less than 7 months ago, gave out, and they refused to get me a new one even though it would have been covered in the manufacture's warranty. Yes, I am not longer paying you for a monthly service, but seeing as they purchased and installed the motor, and a replacement is covered during distrubutor's warranty, they should have provided the replacement part. They did not and refused to provide it. It took them 11 days to call me and fully listen to my concern/question. Prior to that communication was via text and incomplete and just plain rude. A 5 minute over the phone conversation in a timely manner (say 3-4 days) could have saved me the headache and my pool could have been up and running sooner rather than later. I would HIGHLY recommend going with another provider. read more

Chad, the owner, doesn't respond in a timely fashion and when he does it's a nightmare! California Clean Pools was recommended by my previous pool servicer (he retired). Since then I have had no complaints. My pool is always clean and I get a report when it's done. Update: Was great to start but soon after the owner stopped coming and started sending inexperienced uninterested guys out. We paid $149 for full service but they forgot to do the small pond for months. They also don't brush the pool or even seat or steps unless you bug them, nor check filter baskets, nor filter pressure in case of problems. We played 20 questions literally with the guy who said he only does what's on the sheet but he had a hard time telling us what he does. We quizzed and learned he doesn't check or empty the three filter baskets but then he said he would but he forgets then he giggled - yipes! Guess he thought it was funny. Also learned they don't check or clean the filters or alert us if they're running too high pressure or there's a problem. We've told them we're sometimes gone for long periods and the importance to us of full service in case of problems but it didn't stick. We even offered and paid them more than their estimate to get great service but that didn't work plus they raised the rate. On the plus side the guy works pretty hard at using the pole to remove debris but thats not enough. We also contacted the owner for the past 10 months to get the whining pump repaired/replaced but gave up after no follow up as he'd promised. So we hired someone else for repairs, ended up replacing all pumps too bad he missed out on $1000 labor we paid for 1/2 days' work. We called the company a week ago with a simple question still no call back... guess they're too busy. read more

VERY unprofessional, major lack of communication, you can't speak with anyone on the phone they give you the runaround. Broken promises - the tech (Malaki) is very lazy, doesn't show up with supplies in hand ready for any situation that might come forth. Never brushed bottom or walls of the pool, nor skimmed for any debris in the pool!! He'd try anything to not go into the backyard meaning he made up lies, tlk'd bad abt my dog when she did nothing wrong of the sort! Plus, we have camera's up so we were able to view anything that went on. If he had done his job right our salt level would not have gone low. To which then they would not come back & take care of the salt level & bring it back up to normal. And the technician told us to our face that he didn't know how take care of that problem!!! WOW!
