Very slow service. Basically a waste of time. Takes weeks just to get an estimate for a new water heater installation.

I don't typically review companies but the awful experience I had with Delta... they came to the house to do a quote, I asked the guy for the tankless gas water heater and then I asked him for a quote for the hybrid. I did get both quotes, once was cheaper and we decided to go with that. They did Informed us that the hybrid will take longer to be installed as it was custom ordered. We didn't have hot water all this time but we had a solar water heater so when there was sun we had warm water. Anyway we decided a week like that was worth the price difference. Day of instal gets here and then the tech gets here and states that he can't install because it requires a hardwired connection and a dedicated 50a circuit breaker. We didn't have that. It was never informed to us we needed to get that. At no point, not the guy that came to survey the house, not the main office. I had people coming over the following and I had no hot water. I called the company and first guy told me that yeah you should've been notified let me transfer you to customer service, this guy was the biggest "Rich" I had ever heard on the phone. "You do need that, so you want me to cancel? What do you want to do?" Finally I speak with Taylor, and the only reason they get 2 star is her. She did what she could and got us a water heater installed. I'd never do work through Home Depot again. I will be letting them know about the terrible experience we had. read more

I wish I would have seen how bad their reviews were before waiting almost a week for the fiasco that happened today. Such horrible service and the Manager, Vic, could not state "not our fault" enough. They changed the time slot without notification. Technician showed and did an quick incorrect job, left my house without speaking to anyone and then called me from miles away to tell me he was done. When I went downstairs, with him on the phone, to see the work, I informed it that he had not installed according to my plan. He lied and said he called me several times when I was upstairs working but my call history showed that was not true. He came back and then had excuses as to why he could not really do the job the way I wanted with the faucet repair. This entire experience took the entire day and it was such a waste of time. The COS at Home Depot gave me a full refund of installation and faucet but what I know have in my kitchen looks awful and they took the old faucet away, so I cannot even have that put back!! read more

Requested a water heater quote through Home Depot and was assigned them for service. Can't speak to the quality of their service because they never showed up - I was given an 8am appointment confirmed through Home Depot and called to check when they were 45 minutes late, only to find that the systems "don't talk to each other" and no appointment was scheduled. They put me on the schedule for that morning, in a 3-hour window, and kept pushing it back through the end of the day. I took a day off work to be home, and they ended up not calling until 8 hours after the originally promised time, at which point they offered to either cancel or show up another hour and a half late. I canceled and went with another company. At the very least the customer service person on the phone when I checked on the timing was polite and apologetic, but this seems to happen often. read more

Less than three years later the fittings between the outlet and surge tank are rusting and dripping, and it looks like there's also seepage where the heater meets the T-fitting. No clear point of contact. The "local" phone number routes to an online referral service, not the technician or Delta Mechanical (based in Arizona). I was never given a direct way to reach the installer, and there's no paperwork listing the tech's name. Accountability gap. Because there's no record of who performed the work, scheduling a warranty visit--or even getting basic advice--has been impossible. Bottom line: If you choose this company, insist on detailed documentation (installer name, license number, warranty terms) and a direct service number before any work begins. To Whom It May Concern: It would be unwise to ever try to use company. Home Depot had subcontracted Delta mechanical out to fix major leaks in my home. I had an appointment set up on 2/22/2025. I was told they would be at my home at 10:00 A.M, and then the Branch Manager of Sacrament (Vic, he would not give me his last name) called me asking for a one hour window, from 10:00 - to 11:00 A.M. I thought that was responsible. I took a half day of work (Unpaid) to be at my home for the arrival time. The time came and went, and no one showed up, no one contacted me, and I had major leaks in my home. I called the Branch manager "Vic (He would not give me his last name). And he said his guy was 30-45 minutes away. When I objected stating "I have an appointment and an arrival window that was not respected", he seemed to care not at all and say well this is normal. He had no answer for why no one contacted me so I could go to work and be home for the "new and un agreed upon time" someone coming. Nor could he give me an actual time someone would be there. I then asked "What is the realistic fucking time someone will come to my home", to which he became verbally abusive, aggressive, and canceled my appointment. Leaving me with several water leaks and hours of unpaid time wasted. This company has no respect for people's time. No professionalism, and if the workers are like there Branch Manager "Vic" no courtesy or decency. Avoid this company if you can. They will leave you high and dry. They will not show up, and they will waste your time, causing further damage to your home! read more

Good price, good service. But ... they scheduled an appointment a week and half out. Then they called us minutes before the start of the three-hour window for our appointment to tell us they needed to move the appointment to a week later. On the rescheduled day, no one showed up during the two-hour window of our appointment and no one called. Three hours after the start of the two-hour window, we called to inquire whether they were coming at all. They said they'd get to us as soon as they could. An hour or so later, they finally arrived. I picked out the water heater on Home Depot website, I requested it to be installed and I received a call from Delta within 15 minutes. The following day the water heater was installed. From start to finish the process was less than 24 hours! My elderly parent was available to meet Andy for the installation appointment. My very traditional Mom reported she was very impressed by this young man. He was professional, polite, and kind. Once the job was completed I received the invoice promptly as well as the required documentation, permit and instructions via email. I still can't believe it all happens so quickly! read more

We had special hookup to adjoining sink that he didn't have parts for and was assured he would return to resolve the issues. I bought a toilet from Home Depot and paid for the installation. Delta Mechanical was the contractor. No one showed up on the first day, after I'd taken the morning off work to be home for the install. When I called, I was told that they needed to reschedule and that some times the dispatchers "forget to call" to let people know that they need to cancel. On the second attempt, the technical was late. It turned out the toilet from Home Depot was broken. I rescheduled for the next day. The next day, again no one showed up. When I called, they told me that the technician couldn't come and that they would need to reschedule for three days later. They made no attempt to apologize for any of the issues or make restitution for wasting hours of my time. Don't pay for the installation through Home Depot and definitely don't use Delta Mechanical for anything else. read more

Missed two appointments and didn't install our new toilet correctly. It leaked after. Home Depot should not contract with them

Went to Home Depot, ordered a new water heater and they contract with California Delta Mechanical. First, they have installers who aren't qualified to put in a breaker box for the water heater, (if you don't already have one, it's California code). So, I had to pay an electrician $310.00 before Delta would come back out. When they pulled my leaking water heater out, dirt and debris was left all over the floor. When he drained my old water heater, he did so right outside our sliding glass door, instead of rolling it 10 more feet to the sewer drain just outside of-our back gate. So, rusty water and calcium chunks everywhere. He installed the new water heater in standing water. I believe it is leaking as I'm writing this. He installed only one of the two bands around the heater, (earthquake requirement). So, if not corrected, the bottom of my new water heater is going to rust per sitting in water. They are sending someone out today to do whatever an unqualified employee does. The water has seeped up in to my drywall. read more

I did think it was a little high priced but over all I am happy with their work. I didn't think to read the reviews before I used them but I have not had any problems. I purchased a water heater with installation from the Home Depot (Delta Mechanical did the installation). Everything was fine for 3 years until we woke up four days ago to a flooded garage. I called Delta Mechanical to see if they would fix the leak (from the installation) and they said it would cost $186 just to come and take a look at it. I called a plumber that I had used before and after discussing the situation and sending him pictures the first thing he asked was did I buy the water heater from Home Depot and have them install it? I was the 5th house he's seen/heard from that's had the identical problem. He said, "they don't install per code and cause galvanic corrosion, rusting, leaking, etc." He disconnected the T connector and thermal expansion tank and sure enough, the insides were 90% blocked, corroded, rusted, etc (after only 3 years!!!). He replaced the connections properly with the correct dielectric unions and copper. I expect a big company like The Home Depot to vet their installers better! read more

They INSTALLED the wrong water heater and refused to correct the situation. I ordered a heat pump water heater and gave them the model number. When they arrived at my house they said that the 80 gallon version was overkill and they couldn't install because it needed an electric outlet installed, and they didn't know how to do it. So when I had an electrician come out, I had them give me the 50 gallon version. They installed an all electric water heater. Why on earth would i replace a perfectly working water heater with a non heat pump water heater that doesn't qualify for a rebate that costs more to run? Instead of saying sorry we will return that one and charge you the difference of the model. They said sorry you signed for it.They take no responsibility for their incompetence. Absolutely agree that they have terrible customer service. We went into Home Depot to order a water heater, because ours died suddenly two days before Christmas. The in-store person was very helpful, got the order going, and put me on the phone with Delta. "Tom" took down additional information, and he gave me an installation time. That time came and went, and after several calls to Delta from both me and the HD store manager, we can to realize that the office was closed. Finally, a technician showed up... a smallish guy... and said that he couldn't do it himself. So, basically Delta lied about the appointment time, never got in touch to give me an update, and sent one person when it was a two-person job. Now, it'll have to be rescheduled until after Christmas, but I suppose that's ok with Delta, as they aren't one's lacking hot water for things like dishes and bathing. Perhaps Home Depot should rethink their relationship with Delta. And, when the second "set" of people showed up, they were no better. Just as incompetent, just as unable to do anything. Came here, measured, and left with our water heater. The company doesn't answer the phone and doesn't return calls. They also don't know the code, as the guy we found to do the work had no problem with the installation, and it should pass inspection with no problems. read more

Installer did not call as instructed per Home Depot and then refused to install water heater. He said we had asbestos in our ceiling in the garage. Ceiling in the garage was done in the 90s. No asbestos. Had the water heater put in in 2012 and no issues. They were trying to add asbestos removal to my purchase, which was not needed. Now going on 3 WEEKS without hot water, due to my BRAND NEW tankless water heater breaking down. My husband called the 1st day we noticed it go down, so they came in the very next day on a Saturday to see if they could resolve the issue (the only part of our encounter that deserves this 1 star). They told us we needed to get PG&E out here to check the pressure flow of our gas, and that they would get their manager to call us(never called). We got PG&E out they checked and adjusted the gas pressure (after the second time coming in because the first time they thought we were calling about a leak). We had delta come out again because PG&E was unable to get it up and running after the adjustment(end week TWO). Then they finally came out the next Saturday,several days after that, and said they were able to located the part and will have it shipped out asap and come in on Tuesday to install. They never came on Tuesday, saying the part came in too late for them to come that day, so I called Customer support AGAIN, they said the part came in on Wednesday and that the only appointment they had available was on a FRIDAY to come in. So comes Friday, and this part that was supposed to fix the issue never fixed the issue, and so they were going to "try" to come the next day and install a new replacement tank and that the manager would call (mind you there's been a good 3-4 times that they said management would call us and they never have!). So here I am at week 3 now, still without hot water, still without having spoken to a manager, and my unit STILL busted... about to get a hold of Better Business Bureau, and a lawyer if I don't hear back from them today. read more

After nearly a month, the water heater is finally installed. After two no shows (on one occasion, they lied to the property owner and claimed that I was the one that wasn't there), then two more times where the installer refused to do the installation. On the fifth time, they didn't even bother to schedule the appointment, they apparently just showed up while I was at work. Then again, lied to the property owner and claimed that I wasn't there for a scheduled appointment. This was five appointments and over two wasted days of work before the installation was done. We arranged for a water heater to be delivered the following morning at 10:00 with a specific man; said it would cost $I,600. I knew that sounded like a lot but I decided since it would be delivered so quickly, I was okay to pay a premium. Then the phone rings the next day- the morning of delivery - before 8:00 am and they said, "no.... not 10:00 a.m., he's running behind and you will get a call between 11-2 to let you know what time they are coming." Then, when I explained to them that I made plans for 10:00 as they promised, they said, "no, we will call you between 11-2" and then the guy on the phone disappeared. I called back and when I told him he just disappeared on me, he said, "oh you weren't talking to me that was someone else." At any rate, I cancelled. read more
