I have been a client for a number of years. I use them for my vacation home that I rent out in the Town of Mendocino. My property requires ant service every 2 months. I have never had any grief using California Exterminators, and ants are the one thing our clients will not tolerate. Recently I happen to be there when the fellow came to spray. He was very professional, personal, and even helped me with a small termite circumstance I was addressing. His advice was one thing, but he also went the distance and gave me a free spraying for the problem. Besides my vacation rental, I have been a businessman all my life, with generally 10 to 12 full time employees. Coming here to leave feedback, I was surprised to find some negative feedback. Running a business is very complicated and always a fluid endeavor, and in particular for a service business. Yelp has value I guess, but it sure makes service companies vulnerable, I have always been grateful for their help, as clients do not talk to me about ants, and that is a beautiful thing. read more

Incredibly rude, offensive and unprofessional over the phone. I picked up on the toxicity in the office right away. So I'm the bad guy, of course. I'm telling you somebody's a narcissist. Hire them at your own risk. They will be trouble. Looking at the reviews my experience was not unique. This woman i talked to was training a new employee that day as well. High turnover there I imagine. I reacted to her callous dismissive attitude over the safety of my pets. She was very abrupt and cold. Anything I asked, she was short, defensive and rude. Talking to me like a spoilt child that needs to be disciplined. Just appalling, her attitude. I was very offended. I was just trying to get information about their services. Finally, I lost my patience and responded in kind. I spoke to her in the exact same tone she was using, then she got pissed and she hung up on me, of course. Never did hear from the technician. Now I'm blacklisted and no one will help me or answer my questions apparently. I am absolutely floored by their behavior. It was very upsetting to me. It's bad enough as it is. I'm not sleeping and not eating stressing over how to defend my space against these critters. I'm assuming "she" was the owner or management. They are the only exterminator anywhere near here! So I persisted. I still wasn't clear on what they wanted from me in order to initiate their service when I called again a month later. No one called me. I don't want to deal with them or talk to them ever again but I had to. This guy put me on hold as soon as I gave my address, she must if made a note about me. What a problem customer I was. It's me not her. He was a jerk to me from the get go, as I'm backed into a corner trying to defend myself. He repeated over and over what he was told to say, disregarding my questions then I was hung up on for the second time. So much gas lighting and toxicity in such a short interaction. Don't expect friendly, helpful service here. They want a copy of an inspection -from a rodent specialist- to review is all. Each specific issue has a separate inspector. He would not explain that to me. Took me awhile to figure that out on my own. I didn't have that, I would have sent the wrong thing. I thought they were looking for an excuse to not help me, the way they were acting. That's fine. I worked retail for 16 years, any job I've had you'd be fired on the spot if you treated a customer like they did me. Being so remote they stay in business since there is no competition. It's a band aid solution they offer. You Might as well diy. I joined Yelp just now so I could warn people about this business. I hope my review makes sense. I was going through a terrible time and my property had become infested with fleas, it was a serious problem, so I called CA Exterminators Alliance and they came right away. They explained everything to me so I was clear on how everything works and got rid of my fleas after only one service. I am now on regular monthly service and have not had any pest issues. I've not personally had any issues with CEA; we're on a quarterly plan and they come out on schedule and spray for bugs. We noticed a reduced amount of unwanted critters in the house since starting the service. We've also had them do some other services for us and those turned out well. I just spoke with Erik via the phone and he was polite and easy enough to work with. I don't see any reason to give them anything other than 5 starts for saying what they'll do and doing it. It is unfortunate others have had some bad experiences with them but hopefully those were the past and the future will be closer to what my experience has been. read more

As long as you never need them to do anything except come to your home, spray for a few minutes and send you your $45 bill each month, they're fine. We've had a couple of issues beyond that and were told in both cases that they don't do that. It was very disappointing after being a customer for many years. We had an appointment for someone to come out and when we called to check on them, we were told that we weren't on the schedule. They would help with rats, but not opossums. If something dies under the house, they say to wait until the smell goes away. read more

If I could give a no star I would. I paid to have my house treated inside and outside. They came and sprayed the outside (never sprayed the inside). Within a day or two of the treatment I noticed that my house was being overrun by the bugs that used to be on the outside of the house. I called and explained to them what was happening and I was told that they could come spray the inside of my house for a fee. They called the fee a "re-treatment." How is it a re-treatment is your never sprayed to begin with? From the first day that I called all they were worried about was getting money up-front. They require you to pay for a service before it is even complete. So I paid to have my house treated inside and outside but only got the outside sprayed and now they want me to pay again for a service that I already paid for that I never got. To me that is what is called stealing. So I say there are many other pest control companies in Lake County so I would suggest that you use a more honest company who does what they are paid to do. read more

This company is a joke and owners are two faced, towards customers and employees. They will be pleasant in person but then talk about you and your property behind your back. It has continously been going down hill since about 2 years before Tom and Sue's divorce even started. Tom is a egotistical mule that thinks his crap don't stink and places himself on a higher level of society than others. Sue well let's just say u better stay on her good side. The New wife seems to be a bit worse. They have manage to retire or run off all the old Tech's simple because Tom and new wife didn't want to pay folks what they are worth. Most older Techs were on commission and making good money. Now under new management Tom and new wife they have stripped commission and want Techs to work for minimum wages. And getting rid of Clair was the biggest mistake they could have made. She ran that office perfect was very professional and considerate..They might b slightly cheaper than others in the area, but u get what u pay for. So by all means if you like dealing with snakes in the grass call these weasels. They will be glad to except you money kiss up to you in person and then spreed your buiness thru town. Communication skills are terrible, I needed my property sprayed and wanted to give them a map so they knew where to spray since they did half a job the 1st time last year. I made it very clear I wanted to talk to the tech before he serviced the property, sure enough he treated half the property again I called the office and tried to reschedule so tech could see map, the day he was supposed to show up he never did, again I call the office and the lady says "oh you've been moved on the calendar to next week". I asked why I was not informed that he was not coming and her response was "oh he'll call you when he's coming out". So I'm supposed to randomly wait for him to call back? She said there was nothing she could do about that, this happened 3x. I told the lady to cancel the guy to come out since that wasn't working anyway and I'll do it myself ...she says "ok bye". So irritated I ended up having to weed eat the now 2' high weeds before I sprayed it myself. It's my own fault for prepaying. At no time did they try to get my business back. read more

We called CEA in June due to a horrific ant problem that we just couldn't get a handle on! For 2 years we fought those things.. They were in the kitchen, bathrooms, beds!! We called CEA and they came out and sprayed $160.00. 2 weeks later they came out again. Sprayed.. We left on vacation for about 30 days came home to ANTS! Called them again.. "Oh sorry our service is only guaranteed for 30 days"! "A retreat would be an additional $160.00"! Wow.. And what if they can't fix the problem again? It is like flushing the money down the toilet! When I preform a service for someone, I make sure it is fulfilled and if not I try and fix it at no charge and if I can't I return the money. I called them because I had an ant problem originally and I still have the same ant problem! They are not a customer service company. If they were looking to be outstanding there wouldn't be already 2 reviews with one star. I once did a class on marketing. The average person that gets screwed tells 27 people. We have been using this company for years. Claire and Danielle are real assets to that company because they have such pleasant customer service skills. My problem is with the owner Sue. We put our service on hold from December until April. When Romon who does the treatment came to our house in May, he said there would be an additional clean out fee of $150 or he couldn't do my house. Basically, they charge you a fee to start your service again. First of all, this was never disclosed to me at the time we put the service on hold. If it had been, we would have just continue the service. Plus I asked Romon what does that mean clean out fee. The house is spotless, there is nothing to clean. We just want to start up service again. I basically felt like a locksmith coming to my house to change my lock and then telling me by the way it will be $500 more to put your lock back on. What should have happened is Sue should have said, "I am sorry for the misunderstanding but our policy is a clean out fee of $150 when you put the service on hold. But since it wasn't disclosed, I will not charge you this time but please remember next time there will be a charge." Instead she just argued with me...I am the customer so I must be wrong. Anytime she answers the phone instead of Claire or Danielle, she always has an attitude that she is doing you a big favor to talk to her...always very short, never a smile in her voice like Claire and Danielle. I would not recommend this company due to owners. Sue doesn't understand the long term relationship with a client. She didn't know that most of the houses being done in my neighbor were due to my referrals. So I bring her all this business over the years and she doesn't get the customer end and what is the right thing to do by not charging me a fee that was never disclosed. By how she handled this issue, she has helped me make up my mind that our association should contract with one company in 2017 for the entire neighbor. Amazing how companies just don't understand by making the wrong decision they don't lose one customer but many down the road. Also, a side note, I hear her husband is a nice guy and cares about the business. I am sure if he had been on the other end of the phone, there would have had a very different outcome. I had used a large national company In the past and switched to CEA on a local recondition a few years back. I'm working to keep it local. These guys do a great job and often go beyond my expectations. I live near the river in a rural environment. Love the service and dependability of this company! My service tech, Gary, does a wonderful job and doesn't skimp on the time it takes to do a through job! I hate bugs, especially spiders and I haven't had to deal with any crawly creatures in the years I have contracted with this company. The office staff has always treated me with respect and thoughtfulness. A year or so ago I made a huge error when paying online .. I forgot the decimal point and made huge overpayment. When I realized what I had done, I called Sue for help. My bank issued check had just arrived and she was just getting ready to give me a call. Because it was a bank check, the fasted way for me to have the overpayment refunded was they had to deposit the check first. I was going to be in Kelseyville the very next day and Sue asked me to stop by and pick up a refund check. Everything was ready when I got there and I was extremely grateful. We all had a good laugh and I always double check my online bank payments before hitting that final send button.
