I'm telling you, it's not easy finding a healthy place to eat these days. We are surrounded by fried food. I need to start eating better and I love good food! Even though it's not the healthiest kind. I happened by the this place, as I was waiting for an appointment in Mission Hills. But fish as a fast food? Is there such a thing? Oh you better believe there is. The menu was not overwhelming and choices were good. Although I like poké a lot, I wanted something different. Don't you know it, they have grilled fish. I chose Swai with garlic butter and it came with two sides. I picked the tomatoes & feta, and grilled zucchini, the health nut the I have suddenly become. The fish was grilled perfectly, and it was moist and delicious. The sides were fresh and hardy. The tomato and feta was specially good. The service was excellent and everybody was kind. My experience in store was pleasant and our staff member was very kind. She even assisted my mom with her order in Spanish. I ended up ordering the salmon plate with butter, rice and kale salad. I also added a side of coconut shrimp. For my fountain drink, I got the black cherry coke and I really loved this flavor. The meal was very satisfying and it did not leave me feeling extremely full or fatigued after. It was the right amount of salmon fish sitting on white rice. My salad was fresh and very tasty. The coconut shrimp was also satisfying, the crunchy texture and their mango spicy sauce is top tier. Everything by was packed well and arrived hot at home. My wife wanted to come here to get lunch since she's eating healthy now. We were already in the plaza doing some shopping and I was also picking up my lunch at the place next door. We come to this place like once or twice a year but not regularly. When we came, they open a little earlier than their official time but they weren't taking orders just yet. So my wife and I just sat inside until they were ready. You can order from the kiosk or with an actual person. They changed their menu, the spicy chicken sandwich that I usually get here is no longer an option. My wife decided to get the Cajun Salmon, a la carte because she didn't want the sides. You get a smaller portion of the salmon and the worker told us that. The food didn't take long to come out and we took it home to eat. My wife still likes their Cajun Salmon here. She also loves the clam chowder as well here. The customer service is wonderful and the environment here is great. There even a destinated outdoor seating for this place only. read more

First time at California Fish Grill and so happy we tried this eatery. As soon as we walked in California Fish Grill we were greeted and asked if we have any questions. The staff was great. They were friendly and attentive even though they were so busy for a Friday late afternoon. We ordered take out for party of 7. The food items we ordered were 3 Swai Grilled Plates, House Ahi Poke Bowl, Honey Chicken Citrus Bowl, Lobster Roll Plate and Kids Mac and Cheese. Our food was ready within 15-20 minutes, hot freshly cooked and nicely packed. The serving portions were of good amount. It's not in abundance and definitely not lacking. It was more than enough. The Swai Grilled Plate was flavorful and the white fish was not overcooked. We will definitely order this again along with the other food items on our order. The Lobster Roll Plate was tasteful. The Honey Chicken Citrus Bowl was unique in taste. My favorite is the House Ahi Poke Bowl. We can't wait to try other food items on their menu. The general manager was openly cursing throughout the restaurant while customers--including children--were standing right in front of her. It was surprising to see that kind of behavior from someone in a management position. On top of that, when I asked a few questions about the menu, she seemed visibly annoyed and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her just for trying to place my order. Overall, the general manager's behavior left a very negative impression, and I hope the company addresses these concerns and holds its management to a higher standard. Grabbed one of their new protein bowls for dinner and I really liked it! It was huge, and it was a perfect size for sharing. I'm so sad my favorite salad was removed from the menu! First of all, the kiosk was confusing as hell, so I did the normal thing which was to ask for help. BIG MISTAKE!!! A manager by the name Gloria, felt that I was asking her for such a big favor like solving word hunger. She was rushing me, barely even made eye contact with me, and overall acted like she didn't even want to talk to me. And why does she talk so loud?? Like ma'am I'm not across the street I'm in front of you... It literally felt like she was yelling at me over a SCREEN. Semi better experience and food was delicious!! Started off a little rough when we got here. I proceeded to use the kiosk to make it easier on myself, or so I thought. I added all items to the cart and paid with a visa gift card that only had a few dollars in it. The payment went through fine but as I proceeded to pay the remaining balance with my card, the order got cancelled. Really frustrating!! So I waited in line to have a worker help me instead. Heidi, super sweet and patient girl, helped me with my order. I told her the situation and wasn't sure if my gift card was zero'd out or if it's still in my card. When I tried to use it with her, it was giving her an error meaning there was no money in it. Super frustrating that the kiosk just took it and left lol. She said she'd check the back for me to see if my kiosk order actually went through because the order screen up front didn't show that it actually did. Waited a few minutes and to all of our surprise, the kiosk took it!!! Glad she checked because I would've been livid lol. She printed out a copy of the order for me and processed my order asap! This place gets four stars because everything I had a great flavor and tasted fresh. The Caesar salad has no crotons so that is a disappointment. They cook to order so there will be a wait period especially during lunch rush hour. Parking is ample but it's a busy shopping center so there is parking lot traffic at busy hours. You order at the counter and they call out when your food is ready so you can grab and take to your table. You can pick a specific type of fish with sides, options of how it's cooked with a specific sauce, maybe add a shrimp skewer. This time I chose the fish battered taco combo. Comes with 2 tacos, Fish was cooked perfectly, crispy golden brown with not an excessive amount of batter. So flavorful. Fish and chips were also really good. California Fish Grill is a staple on our UberEats rotation. We always get the same thing because it's pleasing and consistent every time. It's kind of like when you get chipotle and you know exactly what you're going to get and what that taste is in your mouth before you even take a bite. That level of familiarity and expectation is comforting. We get a large fish and chips and a grilled catfish with Cajun butter. First off, the fish and chips are delightful. Portion size is enough to split into 2-3 meals. Sometimes the fish has a little too much batter but most of the time the ratio is nice and it's well seasoned. The Cajun butter takes the catfish over the top. I always get an extra sauce because MOAR FLAVOR and also to dip my fries in because why not. Sometimes the size of the filet can be rather underwhelming and sometimes it's a hefty piece - really depends on who's working, I guess. Regardless of size, the fish has been fresh every time we have ordered. Not gonna lie, the sides are somewhat meh. I always get kale slaw and fries. The upgraded sides that you pay more for are OK. They used to have this edamame rice side that was the tits but I haven't seen it in months, which is a super bummer. CFG stays on the list as long as none of my other favorites disappear! read more
