We visited Marufuku in Walnut Creek on July 3 as a family of four. The food was good, and we spent over $130 expecting to enjoy a relaxing meal together as a family. Unfortunately, while we were in the middle of eating, the staff seated two strangers at our table without asking us or giving us any notice. It was awkward and uncomfortable for everyone involved. Both of our children are minors, and I was not comfortable having strangers seated at our table during our family meal. When we asked the hostess why this was happening, she ignored our question and walked away, which made the experience even more disappointing. We understand restaurants can get busy, but if communal seating is part of the dining experience, guests should be informed before they are seated and given the option to accept or decline. We came expecting to enjoy good food and quality time talking and sharing a meal with our family, and unfortunately that experience was taken away from us. The food was ok but the way this situation was handled left us very disappointed.

I ordered ramen for pick-up via DoorDash. When I got home I noticed my spicy tan tan didn't have any meat. To be honest, I was disappointed because of the effort it took to deal with the downtown crowd. Instead of getting a refund, I opted to get my order re-delivered....except I realized the re-order went in as a pick-up order again. I called the restaurant to explain. The manager-on-duty Yuri got on the phone to help me. She apologized right away. When I told her I was expecting a re-delivery per the DoorDash app, she offered to just deliver it herself. She then asked if I wanted a free appetizer for the trouble. I mentioned that the original order would be fine. I received my food at my home AND the restaurant provided additional appetizers. Seriously, they were more than generous! As the latest new restaurant in downtown WC, I know they are looking to make the best impressions. This was something else. Yuri showed integrity and it didn't go unnoticed. While I do not expect above-and-beyond service like this in the future from Marufuku Walnut Creek, I must say ...I am incredibly touched by Yuri's efforts to make things right tonight. She even texted afterward to make sure I was ok. I would have returned because I love the food, but I will definitely be loyal to this location because of Yuri. Also, I don't do too many reviews, but this was worth noting. Thank you, Yuri!!!

Having been to their location in San Francisco, I was delighted to visit their newest Walnut Creek restaurant. It was busy, we went in and waited for a greeter for about 7 minutes until, they asked us what was the name under? I was a bit confused, and we were there said to dine in. That is when the greeter pointed to the outside ipad in which you have to put your name to be then called to be seated. Oh well, we did that and another 20 minutes later we were finally seated. Once seated, it went smoothly, we ordered our drinks and takoyaki. One of the takoyaki was cold in the center which was a bit of turnoff. Now the ramen was perfection. The chicken was tender and the broth was delicious. Keep in mind that they are starting in this location therefore there is room for improvement. This location also have a dedicated cocktail menu. You have indoor seating and while I didn't go outside I believe might be outside seating as well. It can get hot inside plus you are eating ramen but overall I would totally go back. My advice: DO NOT miss the iPad. It's super easy to skip it because people are standing all over it, and honestly we didn't see it until they pointed at it.

Located right next to Woodhouse Spa, Marufuku was supposed to be my new go to lunch spot and I was so excited to try their A5 Wagyu shoyu ramen. Unfortunately, the noodles were overcooked and that's my biggest pet peeve. On the bright side, I left 95% of them uneaten and saved myself a ton of calories. The server did offer to speak to the manager and bring me another order but I was a little short on time. The Wagyu itself was phenomenal and they torch it table side but there are only 2-3 small thin slices. Broth was good but not mind blowing, and the egg was just ok, wasn't the creamy center I was hoping for. I also wish they had real chopsticks instead of disposable ones. Planning to try Mensho and see if it's better. For now, I prefer Hiroshi a block away.

We spent Father's Day at the Marufuku Ramen location in Walnut Creek, and it was a great experience. The restaurant isn't very big inside, but they do have a few additional tables on the back patio. It gets busy quickly, so I definitely recommend joining the waitlist before you arrive to save some time. We were especially impressed with the A5 Wagyu Shoyu Ramen, it was easily our favorite dish. One of the coolest parts of the experience is that they torch the A5 wagyu right in front of you before serving it, which adds an amazing aroma and flavor. If you're not a fan of rich, creamy ramen, this shoyu broth is a fantastic option. One thing I like about Marufuku is that each location offers a slightly different menu, so it's worth checking out different branches. We also tried several skewers, and they were all delicious. Most orders come with two skewers, except for the A5 Wagyu skewer. The ika karaage was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside while staying tender inside. We also ordered the tonkatsu curry, and it was another standout. The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy while staying juicy, and the rich Japanese curry paired so well with the rice. We also enjoyed the chicken skewers and the A5 Wagyu skewer, which were both flavorful and cooked just right. The servers were very attentive and friendly, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a wonderful Father's Day dinner, and I'm so glad we finally have a great ramen spot close to our area, we don't have to drive all the way to San Francisco anymore whenever we're craving good ramen. We'll definitely be back!

We ordered: Regular tonkatsu, DX tonkatsu, A5 ramen Scallop skewers kids' pork rice set. There was about a 20-minute wait to be seated, but the service was excellent. The receptionist even came out to offer everyone free tea and paper menus while we waited, which was a really thoughtful touch. We found the A5 ramen soup base to be too plain, so for the price, we feel the regular ramen is better. The kids meal were a hit!

Highly recommend adding yourself to the waitlist prior to getting to the restaurant. The wait on a Friday (holiday) for 2 was roughly 45 minutes. The wait was slightly longer than the window estimate. We opted to sit in the patio area which was awesome on a nice day. It was well shaded and a lot quieter than the main dining room. Our server was awesome. She was attentive and helpful with our questions. We were in and out in about 45 minutes. Love the option for an extra serving of noodles ($2) to accompany your ramen order. We shared the Hakata Tonkatsu, Marufuku Bites, Hotate, and Ika Kaarage. It was the perfect amount of food to share. The buns for the Marufuku Bites were pillowy and delightful. Ika Kaarage had excellent breading ratio to the squid. The broth on the Hakata Tonkatsu was super creamy. The medium was well spiced, balanced and overall very flavorful. It paired well with the perfect soft, runny egg, tender pork and chewy noodles. Loved everything!

This Walnut Creek location is so nice and new. It's walking distance from the broadway plaza, which is perfect for walking off all of those calories afterwards. Service was really good -- quick and attentive. We came as a party of 2 and appreciated how they seated us at a round table instead of the more cramped seating along the wall. Food-wise, the A5 wagyu shoyu ramen was the leading factor as to why we came here in the first place as it is a Walnut Creek exclusive. I saw a lot of reviews depicting it as more on the heavy/oily side, so I was expecting it to be as such. I personally felt like it could have been more wagyu-forward. To me, it wasn't really that heavy nor oily. They torch the meat in front of you which heightens the gimmick, but there are also barely any slices. It kind of just felt like a regular shoyu ramen with the addition of 3 or 4 thin slices of meat on top. I wouldn't have minded this though if the broth incorporated more of the wagyu or "yuzu butter" essences. Overall, it was still good but it didn't blow me away. I do like their tonkotsu ramen better as it's probably my 2nd/3rd favorite pork-based ramen in the bay. We also ordered their ika karaage to start, which was nice and light.

Even on a hot day, this place HITS! It's been a minute since we were at the Oakland location and WC is closer to us so we absolutely needed to come by. Service is excellent! Friendly and easy Yelp check in to get on the list. The broth of my tonkatsu was sooo memorable. I don't think I can go anywhere else for ramen now. Generous noodles, veggies. The bowls are a perfect size. Next time I will add extra pork cause it's delicious! There's street parking and a small lot behind the restaurant. We had no issues getting parking on a Sunday, thought it was 4 pm. I will be back again!

Heiwa sake was perfect, so smooth!

3.5-4* We arrived at the restaurant just as they opened for dinner, and it was already packed. So, we were seated at the bar, which had only four seats available. Noise level was super loud unless seated in the back patio so just a heads up! We ordered the octopus karaage, which was incredibly delicious. It came with a spicy mayo sauce that added a nice kick to the dish. The okra skewers were simply grilled but tasty, while the hakata tonkatsu ramen had a flavorful broth. However, it had very few fillings and hardly any pork belly. The pork belly was thinly sliced and had a lot of thin ramen noodles. The A5 waygu shoyu ramen had a slice of waygu beef, but it also had very few fillings. They torch the beef when served. The broth, on the other hand, was amazing and flavorful. The heiwa sake was another highlight of our meal. It came in a cedar box, and the overflow in the box tasted different from the sake itself. The server explained that the sake soaks in the cedar, which enhances its flavor. Despite the crowded restaurant, the servers did their best to accommodate us. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Trying to avoid the Father's Day crowds, we stopped into Marufuku Ramen on a Thursday and arrived two minutes before the 5 PM opening. There was already a line outside, and had we arrived any later, we definitely would have waited. My husband enjoyed the Spicy Tantan ramen and an excellent matcha drink. My son loved the wagyu beef skewer, kids' veggie ramen, and light-up peach drink. I had the veggie curry with a side salad and plum dressing, then finished with the refreshing Cherry Blossom bubbly lemonade. The atmosphere is cozy, modern, and feels genuinely Japanese. The décor is beautiful, and seeing Japanese staff running the restaurant made it feel even more authentic. A special shoutout to Brayden for the attentive service. Great food, great drinks, and absolutely worth getting there before the doors open.

Marufuku finally opened in Walnut Creek and I don't need to drive far to enjoy the reman. We went on a weekends early evening and the wait time is about 20-25 mins which was not too bad. It's in downtown area and you can park in the garage nearby. We went on their third week of opening. Ramen is yummy especially the broth is very thick with lots of favor. The egg is over cooked tho. We also tried their wagyu skewers which NOT recommended. Pricy and not melt in your mouth. I also ordered the matcha and the waiter never refill the glass even though I saw her looked at my empty glass.

Tried Marufuku Ramen a long time ago back at the Japantown Center in San Francisco and really liked it, so we were pretty excited when we saw a new location opened up in Walnut Creek. First off, walking into the new shop, the inside looked great. It was clean, organized, and had a cozy feel. The place is not too big, but it still feels like it could hold around 30 to 40 people. One thing I usually use as an indicator of whether a ramen shop is authentic is how extensive the menu is. If there are too many random items that are not ramen related, it usually does not feel like a true ramen spot. This one only had about 7 to 8 ramen options, which felt like a good sign. I went with the standard Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen ($17.50 as of June 2026). While the flavor was good, it was not mind blowing in my opinion. But the thin noodles were outstanding. They were thin but still had a nice bite and a bit of resistance when you bit on them. You can even get an extra plate of noodles for $2. My brother got the Chicken Paitan DX Ramen. The chicken broth had a really deep rich flavor that I might even prefer to the pork one. It also came with a side hot plate of grilled chicken leg quarter over bean sprouts in a slightly sweet savory sauce. I really loved the char flavor from the hot plate. Overall, the food was pretty outstanding. Service was super good too. Our server was attentive and everything came out pretty fast. I would definitely go back to try some of their other items.
