Food, service, atmosphere is awesome. The menu offers an excellent variety of tasty Mexican dishes that will definitely satisfy one's palate. Affordable, and delicious! Luis did an excellent job of serving. Friendly, and very polite. Definitely recommend 5 Tacos if you're in the mood for tasty excellent Mexican food. Provecho, William K. read more

We came with a group and ordered the Table 10 tacos--7 carne asada and 3 al pastor. Lowkey, I wish we had gone with all al pastor because those ended up being the standout. The carne asada was a little dry and seemed to be lacking flavor this time around. I've been here before, and I honestly remember the tacos being much better, so I'm not sure if it was just an off day. We also ordered the mimosa flight, and that was definitely a highlight. Every flavor was good, but the mango was my favorite--it had a really bold, fresh mango flavor. I'd come back for the drinks and would definitely order more al pastor tacos next time. read more

I can't remember if I knew that Walnut Creek had a 5 Tacos and Beers or not. I typically go straight to Limon, but happened to see it recently. We stopped by to try and see how it compares to the Albany location. Service and Staff: - Service was a little slow as there were a few parties of 6 or so people around us Food and Drinks: - Margarita: delicious and refreshing - "Bloody Mary": this is in quotes because we ordered a Bloody Mary, which thy didn't have. They said they had something very similar that wasn't spicy. The drink wasn't similar at all and was very spicy. It would have been better for them to recommend another drink entirely instead. Miscellaneous: - Indoor and outdoor seating available - Good for small and large groups - Low tables and high tables available - Happy hour Monday - Friday from 3-6pm and all day on Tuesdays - Parking is available via street parking and local parking garages Will come back again to see how the food compares. read more

5 Tacos and Beers is a great spot. It's not "hole-in-the-wall" style, which made me think I might not enjoy it as much as a more "down home" taco place. However, I really did! Everything we ordered was prepared excellently, with fresh ingredients and popping flavors. They brought out an extra hot salsa at my request. The ambience is casual yet very nice. The presentation of the food was appealing. I would recommend the quesabirria. The service was very good. (The staff is generally knowledgeable if you have celiac or a gluten allergy. Most of the menu is gluten free). I shall return. I haven't tried the beers yet... read more

We've been coming to this place for a while, and it has been great every single time. Walnut Creek is known for its high prices, but this place provides a great combo of price, quality, and service. It's definitely a great value. Their guacamole, chips, and salsa are incredible. We always order tacos, and they are in the 6-to-7 dollar range. Honestly, we've tried every taco on the menu, and all of them were great. The short rib tacos, in particular, were amazing. The place is cool for an adult gathering but is also kid-friendly. The kids' quesadilla with rice and beans was reasonably priced at 8 dollars. The place offers a wide range of beers and has a great IPA selection. The Don Lito house tequila is 8 dollars and is of good quality. We will definitely be coming back for the vibe, quality, service, and deliciousness of their tacos. read more

Parking downtown can be a challenge but I parked a few blocks away in a free parking structure. I met up with a friend on a cold chilly night so we started with a tortilla chicken soup and it was a Tuesday evening so I ordered a few tacos. You get a happy hour pricing on taco Tuesday. I ordered fish tacos, beef and marinated pork. The tacos were small and not much fillings. The tacos were good but not excellent. I would go back to try the birria tacos. read more

Met up with friend at this place. Able to be at outside pretty quickly. Ordered chips with salsa and guacamole, then 2 tacos. Food was overall good, enjoyed the quesabirrias the best. One of the place I can't believe I haven't reviewed. We have been coming here for years. So I use to drink alot of beer but these days more tequila and red wine. That being said I usually will get a porter or stout here, why?, because they have them. So many place don't unless its the dead of winter. Today we had a shrimp taco, rock cod taco and the chicken Quesabirra. All great. The fish wasn't battered and fried so that was good. We have also had ceviche on the past and a variety of other dishes. The tequila selection has 6 of my favorites and not a single bottle of 818 in sight. There are a couple reds in the wine catagory I have had. So not a place we are found to specifically drive to but when in town looking for something familiar yet different we can pop in here read more

Ok, so this really used to be one of my favorite spots to get tacos but now... not so much. One thing I've always disliked about this chain is that they change the menu monthly. They would make these short rib tacos and they were sooooo DELICIOUS . But I'd have to check the menu every month to confirm, whenever I remembered. Now here's the bigger part that is making me not care to come here anymore and that's the portion size. Like every customers' gripe when they regularly patron a restaurant, it SEEMS like the portions have gotten smaller. That may not be true but that's how it feels. (See comparison pics). Lastly, for those who it matters to, they have a changing table in the women's restroom. Which is very convenient read more

The food and the Manager, Luis' attitude deserve a five star. However, to be honest, I wanted to take one star off as two of their servers were no show, and that made Luis the sole bartender, order taker and server for a pretty large restaurant. The amazing thing was he kept smiling and working his rear off for the two plus hours that we were there for lunch. The restaurant has extensive indoor and outdoor seating and looks nice. They must have about 30 beers on tap! Eleven of us ordered chips with guac and salsa, variety of beers and a variety of tacos. We also ordered rice and beans to share. The food was delicious and there were no leftovers! We had brought a cake to celebrate a birthday, Luis brought out the cake with lit candles! Nicely done. Will return to explore additional menu items. Highly recommended read more

Five tacos and beers is fabulous! Who doesn't like tacos and beer? And they have tons of both. We've been a couple times and enjoyed every visit. You can order off the menu, where they have tons of taco combinations, including quesabirria and a host of delicious meats. They also offer a full bar with lots of tequila choices. Both times I've stuck to the beers, which the selection is vast, but I'm definitely coming back for the tequila. They also have a taco buffet night and we've enjoyed that too. Can't recommend this place enough, you need to go try it out. read more

This was our first time here. We came in and were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. The menu isn't too large. They gave us time to look at the menu and then came back to check on us. We then placed our orders. They have a nice patio area, and a big dining area. Music isn't too loud. We got here about half an hour after they opened so it wasn't too busy. My boyfriend got enchiladas and I got the protein bowl. And about 10 minutes he got his enchiladas and that's all they were, no beans no rice just a couple enchiladas. I waited for about 15 minutes and I started to think that they forgot about me. I was getting ready to cancel my order and just get food next-door at the dumpling place. But soon after I saw her, bring my bowl to me. It was really good. I enjoyed it. Our waitress was great. Only issue is that it took a while to get my food. Free chips and salsa would have been a plus. But I know not everywhere does it. read more

Decent taco spot -- Wish the tacos were served with raw onions vs sautéed onions. Carne asada tacos was the best. The pulpo taco was just ok and lacked flavor. By the time I got to the chicharon taco I was already full. Salsas were very good and definitely could've been served in a bowl rather than the small tin sauce cups. Service was good. Friendly waiter. read more

Great tacos and great drinks in a nice area! First off they offer quasabirra tacos with chicken, which from my experience not a lot of places offer. So for those who don't like beef, the chicken alternative is very nice and still very good and worth a try! Have been here a couple times now and have always had a great time. The environment and atmosphere is super nice and just feels authentic Staff is very friendly and attentive. Food and drinks don't take long to come at all and can tell how fresh everything is like the tortillas Everything was so good and I don't think anything we had was not short of delicious The drinks on tap were very good and the staff is pretty knowledgeable on all the drinks offered They have indoor and outdoor seating and I can see this place getting pretty busy on a Friday or Saturday night. All in all if you're looking for some good Mexican food Highly recommended! read more

5 tacos is right on Main Street and the place seems clean. The service is friendly and fast. We went for lunch and got the 5 taco platter and guacamole. The guacamole was delicious and the chips were good. The tacos were just ok. The fish was fishy and smelly. The steak was a bit dry. The pork was the best of the bunch. The taco shells were weird and chewy. Overall, it's ok. I'm rounding up to 4 stars because of the good service. read more

I joined my friends for dinner at 5 Tacos and Beers, a lively, casual modern Mexican restaurant. The place was packed, but we managed to grab a table outside. I ordered the Taco de Pescado--rock code marinated and breaded, topped with salsa cruda pico, with a side of black beans and a refreshing Sangria Roja made with house red wine, berry syrup, vodka, peach liqueur, lime and fresh fruit. The taco was delicious, and next time, I want to try the grilled shrimp and grilled octopus tacos. read more

5 Tacos was our second stop during our downtown Walnut Creek taco crawl this weekend. Food wise, we found the tortillas to be handmade with exactly the consistency and taste you would want in a great taco. The balance of each bite was absolutely perfect for both the El Pastor and the Carne Asada tacos and the chips and guacamole were delicious, - although we did find the tomatoes and onion to be a tad heavy handed in the guacamole. The patio seating was comfortable and bright and the service was prompt and incredibly friendly. Of the three Mexican food spots we tried that day (Tacos, Bar Camino, and 5 Tacos) I would say 5 Tacos was overwhelmingly the clear winner. All in all, we loved our visit to 5 Tacos and would give it five stars across the board. We will absolutely be returning! read more

Five Tacos and Beers has a great vibe--nice location, outdoor seating, and live music (though it was really loud). The atmosphere definitely draws a crowd, and I can see why people enjoy it. That said, the food didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The menu sounded promising, but the tacos felt underwhelming once they arrived--small portions, minimal toppings, and not a lot of flavor outside of the meat. We tried the pork belly, steak, and fish tacos. While the meat itself was decent across the board, all of them lacked sauce, texture, and balance--no real wow factor. The seafood ceviche was fresh but needed more citrus punch--and it only came with a few tostada chips, so we ended up eating the rest with forks. Prices are on the higher side for what you get ($35-$40 for five tacos), and we honestly left still hungry. Ultimately, the food didn't justify the cost, and while we appreciated the ambiance, it's probably not a spot we'd return to. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to try a new spot and came across 5 Tacos and Beers. Overall, it was a good experience. Service was good. We came at a time when it wasn't busy, so we were seated right away and everything moved pretty smoothly. We started with the esquites, which were really good. I just wish they had added a little more mayo, but the flavor was still great. For tacos, I ordered three: asada, tinga, and al pastor. All three were tasty and satisfying. My boyfriend ordered the ceviche (I forgot to take a photo of those). For drinks, I had a Paloma, which I really enjoyed. My boyfriend tried a beer and an Old Fashioned. I can't speak for his drinks, but everything I ordered was good and I'd definitely come back to try more. read more

Ordered from 5tacos, delivered by Postmates. 1/2 of order was left out. Called 5 tacos and blamed the missing items on Postmates (even though food was packaged and draped by 5 tacos. This is the SECOND time I have bit into something that does not belong in food. The first was a metal piece from a grill scrub- when I told the server, what did they do? They offered us a dessert. Cool, but I didn't really want to eat anything else. Unfortunately, we came again tonight and what happened? Bit into my shrimp taco and ate a ROCK. I told the server and he asked to bring the pieces of the rock with him back to the kitchen and offered a discount (thanks) but then he didn't apply it on the bill. WATCH OUT YALL! You'll leave with a slivered esophagus or a chipped tooth if you don't watch out. Would love it management reached out and tried to rectify this. read more

Positives - great drinks, a good place to meet friends and hang out. A mix of community tables and bar space with great bites, and friendly staff. Nice vibe . The hyper annoying: took 5 friends here to check it out. Something like a work event , something like a group of friends . An individual from another table joined us at our table and hung out. In fact, I don't think that they even ordered a drink. I got the receipt and there was a "Large Party (20%)" charge on it for $15,30. As an owner of a company that routinely takes groups of people out, and treats employees and colleagues generously, and extends that generosity to the staff that works at those places, generally tipping well in excess of 20% - to the point of credit card fraud departments occasionally calling to ask if we meant to leave a large tip. That doesn't cut it for me. Anyway, cut this crap out. There's too many good restaurants and places around Walnut Creek and Lafayette and Danville that don't charge some crap fee of 20% - which who knows even goes to the staff. Don't get me wrong . The drinks were great - but all my colleagues could talk about was the nonsense of paying a 20% "compulsory" crap. I'm sure the place is great - but I'm uncomfortable going back. read more

We tried 5 Tacos and Beers, and overall it was just okay. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly, but they got my husband's order wrong, which was a little disappointing. The tacos themselves were fine, but nothing really stood out flavor-wise. The margarita was ok and my husband said the beer was cold, so that was a plus, but overall the experience was pretty average -- not terrible, just not great either. read more

Came here on a Friday night and the inside was relatively packed! Good thing we had a reservation. It's a good spot to bring friends and family. My husband and I got the Good days cocktail which is a strawberry based tequila cocktail (delicious and good amount of sweetness) and a guava flavored hard cider which was refreshing. We shared the 10 taco combo. My favorite taco is the lengua and shrimp! Also like the birria taco but that does not count towards the combo so we got it a la carte. Would come back! read more

No Tacos or Beer - second time in a row this location failed. Came here on a reservation, which was confirmed and was denied at the door. CLOSED. Please fix your system. Came back today, got seated and no server was available to acknowledge, or tell us they'll be right with us. After about 15 min, I went to the host to ask if they could help, and was informed they'll let our sever know. No one ever came to our table.
