The honey was overjoyed that Poke House started carrying onigiri, although it's only listed on the menus on the windows and not anywhere inside. To set expectations, the sizing they offer is more close to how they make it in Japan - smaller than the US sizes, and there's only a few options to choose from. And I will also say the wait time for these babies is long because they're all made by hand and not pre-prepared like at Maymays. That being said, the Krab onigiri was delicious, priced well, and there's comfortable seating out front, so I definitely see us coming back. read more

This review is strictly about the service I received, or lack thereof. Earlier today I drove over 30 minutes and arrived at this location at 8:54. Upon entering I was immediately informed that the restaurant was closed. All the ingredients were still out, customers still eating inside, Open signs still glowing and the other employee had just started to make a bowl, maybe for an online order or maybe herself.... This is a chain restaurant which clearly has posted hours that says they close at 9pm, but I guess the young employees have plans tonight or something and want to get out early instead of working their full shift. Recommendation to management, review the trainings that cover "hours of operation" with the two employees that were scheduled tonight or consider hiring people with more work ethic. I recently started to get into poke and found this place when going to sprouts. It's always quick and easy to get in and out of here. For about 20 bucks you can get three scoops of different fresh fish with your choice of base which I usually pick sushi rice. You also get some imitation crab, which is a nice touch. And then it is a free-for-all with the veggies. I love this place because the bowl always comes hot and full to the brim and is very tasty and fresh. The service is OK, the staff are not overly friendly but not rude either. For the price I get two meals out of one so I think it's worth a 20 bucks. read more

Although I've been to the Palo Alto location ~5 years ago, yesterday was my first time at the Walnut Creek location. I got a small bowl with salmon and ahi. Brown rice was the base and I got green onions, seaweed, pineapple, mango, furikake, edamame, and masago. Poke was good but the amount of proteins seemed tiny for the price ($17 for a small bowl). For comparison, Oke poke is generous with the protein and a medium bowl (smallest size, 3 proteins) is $16. I was the only person so I didn't have to wait at all. service was friendly and efficient. No issues with parking. They have a rewards program and they still had my information in their system despite not having been to a Poke House location in 5 years. While I prefer Oke Poke for the amount of proteins given, I'd still come back to Poke House if I want to get my poke fix without the hassle of parking downtown. read more

This is maybe my second or third time here and it is one of my favorite poke spots in the area. I come after the gym so it's usually not busy and it's always clean. I ordered a small with the oyster sauce tuna, crab meat, edamame, corn, onions, mango, tobiko, with miso aioli, unagi, and garlic vinaigrette. Glad a poke place opened up in the area. I tell myself this is a healthier option than hitting the drive thru somewhere. When I first tried this place, I got the medium which is 3 scoops. I feel like it's just way too much food at once. I opt for the small which is 2 scoops, if I am not mistaken. I typically go with a small bowl with white rice, two scoops of salmon or spicy salmon, depending on what they have. As for the additional toppings, this is where you can fill up your bowl. Whatever sounds good that day, I add it in. For the sauces, I go with a combination of 3. I wish I could remember, but it's one of the spicier sauces mixed with another spicy and maybe shoyu. Honestly, I'm twisted on this place. Up until my most recent visit, I loved doordashing from this place. The food usually tasted fresh and was perfect. Not sure if it was the time of day or an off day, but the rice was soggy, and it didn't taste as fresh as it usually had. On top of that, there was no customer service whatsoever. My complaint here is the prices NEVER stay the same! In these six months, I've seen the bowl prices for poke rise three separate times. Let me write some pros and cons from my experience with Poké House. Pro: -good service -decent portion sizes -very clean inside -employees were super nice and respectful Cons: -you have to pay extra for seaweed salad vs other Poké shops in the bay you don't have to. -prices for everything seems high I went two days Friday and today Friday: I came in super late I just got off of work and I came in I was greeted (near closing) by 2 men who looked tired but excited to help me they where all out of the spicy salmon so they made me some (I was could've been almost the most complicated customer to come in before closing) but you know they did everything I asked with a smile on their face and it was the freshest Poké I've ever had pretty close to my usual spot. Today: I am not greeted with such enthusiasm (different employee) I felt like kind of a bother (they had everything I wanted so I wasn't that jerk customer) I sit down to eat my food and the fish seemed not as fresh sad portion sizes and quite honestly I was really bummed out. I was hoping to get that great quality food and service I got on Friday. First time there. Ordered a couple of traditional hand rolls, salmon, and tuna. Problems once I reached my table 1. Received my hand roll order from customer service person with NO instructions. Why would there be? 2. Why?Because they aren't hand rolls. 3. The fish was wrapped in rice like a burrito that was supposed to be a hand roll. 4. The seaweed isn't prepared with the rice and fish but surrounds it in a strange plastic wrap, with no instructions. 5. The counter person showed me how to make it work, and I went back to my table to try my own. 6. Couldn't get the seaweed to wrap properly (that's the chef's responsibility), and about 1/3 of the fish fell out on the table (unsanitary). 7. There are no trays or paper liners to accommodate this level of construction. People were nice, but the process killed my experience. There are other poke places around the area. read more

The interior was really modern and bright which was a nice change compared to the cafe that was there before. There were a lot of protein and topping choices which was a plus for sure. We also got hefty scoops of fish (but I think that was because it was their soft opening) and the service was friendly and welcoming! We ended up getting a HUGE bowl which was definitely great but the fish ended up being kind of salty and lacking in flavor as well.
