Repiped my home with Pex in 2018. Yesterday we had a leak and when the ceiling was opened the leak came from Copper pipes? They never finished the job closed up the ceiling etc and left. Now big repair job and have to replace the pin hole copper they left behind. Paid in full and NEVER completed what they were paid for. Scam job ! They figured we would never know. Now it's costing me a lot of money! This is BS! Would love to sue them if i can find them. I will try ! Shane is the one that sold us on this ! No sense in writing a long review. Won't do me or you any good. As of January 31st 2022 California Repipe filed for bankruptcy and are no longer in business. I found this out after texts and voicemail to Shane went unanswered. Once I called the office a recording came on stating they had to file for chapter 7 bankruptcy and uou were given a referral to a trustee attorney that is handling their accounts. So much for their warranty. Any issueissue I had that would've been covered under the warranty. Instead I had to shell out $1,000 to another plumber to fix. So now I have to file a claim and wait in line with the rest of their debtors hoping I can be reimbursed. I won't hold my breath. read more

In August 2019, my wife and I contacted California Repipe Specialist to repipe our house, due to old corroded pipes causing poor water pressure. In September 2019, California Repipe Specialist repiped the entire house from the main. Initially, we were satisfied with the service, as the water pressure was restored. However, about 2 weeks ago, a pipe leak/burst was discovered that caused substantial water damage to the property. The pipes were just replaced less than 2 and a half years ago. We have tried to contact California Repipe Specialist since the day the pipes burst, at both their listed numbers, with no luck. Every time we call it goes to voicemail and their voicemail box is full, not allowing us to leave a message. Additionally, we sent an email to the company representative that emailed the invoice to us; however, he did not respond to our email either. We are still trying to get in contact with California Repipe Specialist to resolve this issue. All of our neighbors have had leaks and we wanted to eliminate the problem. We received quotes from several companies but went with Shane based on good reviews from a neighbor. The repiping went excellent, the drywall repair was quick and completed. The only problem was that they broke an expensive kitchen faucet (~$1200 for the faucet alone) and never replaced it. This would have been a 5 star review. The new pipes were installed quickly (7 hours from arrival to departure). The walls were patched seamlessly. Ceilings were patched adequately. But... they broke the kitchen sink drain pipe during patching. Accidents happen. But it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect a contractor to repair damage that occurs as a result of their work. Instead, they wanted to charge another $1800 to repair it (on top of the $9000 we spent for the repipe). And they didn't know when they could schedule someone to come fix it. If you hire this company, things will probably go ok. But if something goes wrong, know that you're on your own to fix it. The plumber and plasterer we called to fix the broken drain ended up costing $700. read more

While we did get a great price, the customer service aspect, especially from the owner is terrible the worst. The company had to return twice for rework. Once for something they forgot and once to correct an item caught from the city code inspector. Also, they put all the connection in very tight places so that if you ever have to replace a line or faucet, it is very difficult. We also called to have an item inspected but we were told, rudely, that it was probably not their fault and if they came out it would cost $125 service fee. We had to wait a week for the drywall crew and they did a great job except in one area. Ryan and his drywall crew were very nice, professional and went above and beyond to give us good service. We decided to have our paint company repair the unsatisfactory area. We found some damages that occurred during the repipe - A/C duct cut in multiple places, chip in bathroom floor tile and multiple faucets slow flow after repipe. We call them and they came in a respectful time and patched the A/C duct and repaired the faucets. We had a pipe leak while out of town, joining the the rest of our Laguna Niguel Neighborhood. We decided to do a repipe before starting the damage repair. Three of the neighbors on our block suggested California Repipe based on their experience. The whole concept of having multiple holes put in your walls is more than a little disconcerting. Shane, the owner came by and reviewed the process and gave us the cost and the expected timeline. The first crew lead by Mark put the holes in the walls and ran the pipe but only after they tarped the floors and shrouded everything they could. They finished that day and did a nice job of clean up. The drywall wall repair by Ryan and his crew was excellent..almost artistic. It included a significant amount of outside stucco repair that was also performed very well. They also did a nice job of prep and clean up. This is not something I ever want to do again. Our HOA contacted California Repipe Specialist to get a quote for a complete repiping of our 9 unit building. We were assigned to Shane to meet for a walkthrough of the building. On the scheduled date and time, no one showed up. We called and they told us that due to an emergency they could not make our scheduled appointment. We rescheduled for a later date and the day of that appoinment, they called and canceled. We were then told they don't need to visit our building and that they will email us a quote. A few follow up emails later and we are still waiting for an email quote. Obviously, we have decided not to consider them any longer for the job. read more

We hired California Repipe to do a PEX repipe of our home in Ladera Ranch. When we initially met with Shane, we were provided a fair quote and were told that the repipe would take 3 days. On Day One, the crew came early and worked their butts off to get our water back on. They communicated well, were respectful of our home and did the best they could to minimize dust and damage to the house. That is the ONLY reason that I am giving two stars, instead of one. Unfortunately, after Day One, everything fell apart. They neglected to schedule the inspector for the next day, so we had to wait an additional day. I made it very clear to Shane that we would be out of town and provided a lockbox and code so the inspector could let himself in. Sure enough, he never communicated this to the inspector, so we were passed up. It was FIVE days later that the inspector came (which I had to schedule myself, by the way.) I texted Shane to explain that I was frustrated with the timeline and that I felt he "misrepresented" the process to me. Within minutes, he called me up and started yelling at me over the phone. I finally had to refuse to speak with him, because his behavior was bordering abuse. After finally patching the drywall on days SIX and SEVEN, Shane and his crew disappeared for several days, leaving 5 large holes in the side of my house. I finally texted Shane and insisted that they at least cover the holes with plastic, since it was raining and we have an issue with rats in our neighborhood. Today is DAY FOURTEEN and they finally came to repair the stucco on our house. In addition to the ridiculous timeline and horrible customer service, their crew damaged my dryer (which of course Shane denied.) Overall, a HORRIBLE experience. Beware. read more

We had a plumbing leak which really messed up the flooring and walls. Didn't want to go through that again so we decided to have the house repiped. We have used California Repipe in the past at another house and we're very happy with the work they did. These guys do not disappoint. They cover the floors and fixtures and also do a very nice job of cleaning up. They will cut holes in the walls and stucco to run the piping and when that is done they repair everything and texture to match. I am a picky guy and they did an excellent job matching the texture inside and out. They put on all new connections to faucets and new hose bibs outside. Our house took 3 days from start to finish. I could not be happier with the work and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I never used there services. I did not feel that they were reliable nor professional. I responded to their paid paper ad, no one answered, left a message and finally received a return call 2- 3 days later. An appointment was set. I called again during a normal business time to confirm the appointment. A woman answered who sounded like she just woke up. She gave me to another woman who said Shane was not going to be able to make it. I made another appointment for 5 days later. On the day of the 2nd. appointment I again called to narrow down the time he would arrive. Again, no one answered, I left a voicemail stating the reason for my call & left my phone number, no return call. After 2 hours I called again. Finished within 48-72 hours. The only hiccup was some extended outside stucco finish, mainly as a result of the AV town inspector being difficult. Last year, we took four bids to repipe our home, and all were within a few hundred dollars of each other. I just liked Mark the most, so we went with California Repipe Specialist. They started the work a few weeks after I called them to schedule, which was mostly complete in one day. Unfortunately, the key word is "mostly." We had a little problem getting the inspector out during COVID, so we were left on a hiatus for a month. After the inspector came out and looked for 3 seconds, with the only problem being we needed to add insulation on some hot water tubes in a few places, I was ready to complete the job. Unfortunately, it was an "I" and not a "we," as this company has simply disappeared. I have called too many times to mention over the past year, and frankly, I thought it was Christmas or my birthday when someone answered the phone. To a lesser degree, I thought it was a Federal holiday when the answering machine was able to take a message. You can get ahold of someone at the IRS easier than this company. The few times I could speak to someone I was assured that we were on the list. There was a multitude of reasons why they couldn't come back to complete the work, such as workload, the crew got COVID, or a list of other reasons (watch the Jim Belushi-Carrie Fisher "It wasn't my fault" scene in "The Blues Brothers" and you will understand). Regardless, my wife and I were tired of living with holes in the walls and wanted this project complete, so I finally called another company to finish the work. About 6 weeks ago, California repipe specialist repiped my duplex. About a week later on a Sunday morning the pipe entering the duplex burst where the plumbers made the connection to the water supply line on the side of the duplex. I was out of town, so my tenant called an emergency plumbing service to stop the water that was gushing out of the failed connection and flowing down the driveway and down the street. California Repipe did not leave any contact information for problems with my tenants. My tenant had to pay for the Sunday emergency repair before the emergency repair plumber left. I presented California Repipe Specialist the invoice to reimburse my tenant and the company refused to pay the bill. The failed connection was clearly made by the California Repipe Specialist plumbers. Yet, the company refuses to take any responsibility for the faulty work. I called them to repipe my 100 year old house. A team of 7 guys showed up, were all day. After they left, I discovered that they had broken off the drain pipe to the a/c inside the foundation. They also broke off the faucet on the outside of the house (to the yard) and then patched it up...never told me about this. Two sinks leaked after they left (they worked fine before they arrived). They broke the light in the basement and didn't tell me. Broke the apron on the bottom of my refrigerator. They left the vent cover to the crawlspace off, leaving a wide open space for critters. I called to let them know all of this and their response was NOTHING for six months. I then received a call from them asking how they could make this right. Too late. I'd already paid to have these items fixed. By the way, I am in a wheelchair so I'm sure they thought I wouldn't see most of the damage. If there were zero stars to give, I would've marked that. They are the WORST people I've ever contracted with. read more

I hired CA Repiping Specialist when they were called P.R. Plumbing. The men worked hard originally replacing the front sewer line a little over ten years ago. The company was recommended by a neighbor and the workers were polite and pleasant. When I wanted to have the house's plumbing replaced with copper plumbing in 2011, P.R. Plumbing gave me the lowest estimate. I did not realize that a permit was not pulled for the job. The under $5,000 job turned into a more than $10,000 job because they kept telling me there were other problems. They did not always show up when they were scheduled also which made it a problem for me since I was trying to have this done during my vacation. Plus I had a plane vacation scheduled. Also, many of my wash cloths disappeared during the process. I paid them for their work, but I had them come back for an outside leaking faucet. They seemed to lack expertise on solving that problem. Then in 2017, I found out I had a gas leak. I hired a different recommended plumber to deal with that. He made me aware that there were many problems with the work that P.R. Plumbing had done and told me to contact them. They were not so pleasant this time around. I only found the proposals, but not the final paperwork unfortunately. They did not have a record of doing the work. I was able to obtain copies of my check from the bank just before the seven year deadline of them keeping those records. I told them I would pay for a permit (they insisted they had one before, but the city did not have a record of it) and for any materials to at least deal with the possibly dangerous and out-of-compliance water heater installation that I was talked into by them. There still are some issues, but I do not want to deal with California Repipe Specialist (P. R. Plumbing) any more since I cannot find my final paperwork for the copper plumbing repiping. I realize they may not be responsible for a few of the out-of compliance issues. I do have a pan leak in a shower and the connections are the incorrect size, so it may be their fault. I do not know for sure. Lesson learned: always be sure a permit has been pulled by your plumbers and keep all the paperwork secure even if there is a guarantee of 25-30 years on the work that was completed. read more

We received three estimates and by far, Shane from California Repipe was the most knowledgable and thorough walking us through the process. Both the repiping and drywall crews were amazing! The crews were polite, friendly, everything in the house was covered up and protected when they did the work, they cleaned up, and they arrived right on time at 8AM. Every crew member introduced themselves and shook our hands and each of them thank us when they left. We have a one story home and the repiping took about nine hours. We had water that night. The second day, the city inspector came and we passed without incident. The drywall crew showed up at 8AM on day three and took the entire day patching the walls and ceiling. I just wanted to give an update because I believe in being fair! Ultimately this is someones business and we all deserve to hear the truth.. We have a few more issues come up with the repipe a small leak from the washer faucet and the hot water not coming on in the kitchen. I can honestly say that Shane was responsive and sent someone out on both issues and had his guy check and correct the issue. Of course the hot water was working but our renter didn't allow enough time for it to warm up. I am now giving them 3 stars. I hope in the future that maybe they can learn that it is better to be quicker and kinder to respond to customers. I could of saved time and a lot of money that i had to pay to have all of the drywall repaired. We were very happy with the work done on our home by California Repipe Specialist. Although it's a 3100+ square foot, two-story home, the actual repiping with PEX was completed in a single day, as we had been promised. Nine guys worked for 12 hours to finish the job, and they did great work -- the city inspector was very happy with what he saw and even commented that they had done more than was required by code. The company's plastering crew that patched the holes required to install the new piping was equally good -- our painting contractor was very impressed with the work they had done. The four plasterers finished most of the work in a single day, although a couple of them had to return to cover a two holes that everyone had overlooked as they were out of view. Finally, the fellow who came back to sand the new plaster once it was dry did an excellent job. All of the guys, most of whom have worked exclusively for this company for years, were very nice, friendly, and willingly answered all of my questions. They cleaned up after themselves quite well, and there was no collateral damage to the house or its contents. Best of all, California Repipe Specialist did the job for 30 percent LESS than the bid we got from our regular plumber, and the plumber's bid did not include replastering. I got quotes from three providers after experiencing my fourth slab leak. CA repipe was the lowest of the three but I selected them based on my neighbors referral. One comp nay that was a plumbing company said it would take four days...one to install, one to get permit, two to patch. It turns out that is because they have less specialization in this area. With fewer hands available it would stretch things out. All quotes were within $500. CA Repipe arrived on the agreed on date and installed the entire 3300 SF house in one day. Everything was fully operational that day. I contacted city when advised it would be two days by CA Repipe and they agreed to come out on Day 2. Day 3 all patching was complete on schedule. Three days start to finish. There was a lot of dirt and dust but the crew was conscious of keeping it to a minimum at all times. On day one the crew was on time and got to work ASAP. Everyone clearly knew their job and were focused on finishing in one day, as I had requested. All were real pros and polite. Great crew. On patching day they had the same mentality and everyone was working to get it done in a day. They did do that again. A few areas were found to be rough in texture after completion by our painter and CAR sent their guy right back out to get it smoothed over. No complaints. Additionally one garage wall required a sign off by an engineer and another visit after city approved it. Again, no complaints or fee adjustments. It was immediately scheduled and completed. One last hole was overlooked in the laundry room. AGAIN, visit scheduled and completed with no complaint. All professional and focused on completing the job to our satisfaction. When giving quotation we were told the project will be done in 2-3 days. It took 10 days to finish work and it took three month to get city approval. It was headache to get the inspection done and make changes as required by city. While re plumbing bath tub fixtures purchased by me were not changed as promised. Well let me start by saying I was very reluctant to have my house repiped especially during a pandemic. We had Shane come out and give us a quote and we were very comfortable with the fact that he wore a mask and shoe covers...so that was a plus for us front the start...anything to make us more comfortable. What really convinced us was the fact that they would finish the repiping in one day...and yes that was so true! We made it very clear that we did not want a mess and that I am a clean freak and let me tell you I was so impressed with how clean and efficient they were especially having six or seven guys in and out of my house all day. I cannot recommend California Repipe Specialists. Shane speaks a good game when bidding for your business, but his tone sure changes when things go south. They failed inspection TWICE and ultimately did not leave my house in what I'd consider "paint-ready" condition. What was supposed to be a 2-3 day job was not completed for five WEEKS. And I had to follow-up with Shane more than twice to make that happen. I didn't push for a discount (none was offered!) because I just wanted to be done with them. read more

For my repipe project, I got multiple quotes and California Repipe Specialist was not the highest or the lowest, but I decided to choose them because my neighbor was happy with the recent job they did for her. They also have a lifetime guarantee on their work. The project went relatively well, just be aware that this is a major ordeal and you need to expect a lot of disruption not just on the day of the job (the repipe is done in 1 day) - but you also need patience with the associated timelines and clean up afterward. I'm rather particular and didn't anticipate quite as much dust, mess and cleaning that I'd have to do as a result. As long as you keep this in mind, you'll do OK. The work crews for both the repipe team and the drywall team were great, the guys were pleasant and professional.
