I really wanted to like this place beauce it is walking distance from my house. The staff is great. Clearly instructed on customer service, positive personalities, and tryinf to be efficient. The problem is the (I assume) money by get management. I waited 5 minutes short of an HOUR to get a cleaning. When I got brought back x-rays were taken, gums evaluated, and I talked to the doctor. All 3 people I saw told me I had excellent teeth and had taken good care of them. I heard them telling the dental hygienist that I just need a regular cleaning and everything looked great. When the rep from the dentistry showed up she told me I needed to do a deep cleaning for an extra $200. When I refused she had me sign paperwork saying that my teeth will fall out and my gums will decay "soon" if I didnt do their recommended extra cleaning. I chose the basic cleaning. He seemed rushed and not detail oriented, but clearly this office is pushing for numbers and profit. All of the dental professionals I met were kind, seeemed knowledgeable, anf did a reasonable job. The front staff was also very efficient and courteous. Furthermore the front waiting room was specious, comfortable and offered water, coffee, and snacks. What I did not like about this office was that they seemed to be money oriented before care. Patients were pushed through, and left to wait for long periods of time. When they did receive care, after, a representative would try to push them for Unnecessary treatments to push the profit lines of this facility. read more

I'm not recommending this place at all, they act like they know what they're doing but they sit in the front desk talking about who knew more about alcohol and personal life stuff, very unprofessional ,My mom had three different appointments with them and they all took 3 hours to 4 hours for her to get treatment, trying to find the nerve on her gum. California Smiles is a classic chop shop. They over book their appointments, which is why they have so many "entertainment" rooms (which seems to used by the staff's kids). They have no problem making you wait for hours! They insist on x-rays every 6 months, so they can over bill your insurance (spoiler alert: the x-ray quality is awful and they CHARGE you for copies of these awful x-rays if you ask for them). There is a rotating pool of dentists. You probably won't see the same one twice. Also, they will misdiagnose you with unnecessary work. These people are as untrustworthy as they come! Bottom line, get a second opinion! And run as fast from this place as you can! read more

This dentist is amazeballs!!!!! Let me start by saying there in a chill location, easy to get too, easy to see. There staff is superrrrr friendly!! There's a lot of employees that work here ( as I can see many of them walking around) and every single one acknowledges you, that's nice for a change. I'm a person who HATES dentists... and hates the process of going to a dentist and having a bunch of stuff drilling my mouth , but these guys make u feel so good that they make u forget about the nervousness!!!! There really understanding of my needs and work around ALL OF THEM!!! I'm a person who asks ALOT of questions especially at the dentist and with a smile which is a biggie for me and a problem at most dentists... WITH A SMILE they answered and resolved every single one of them. The dentist is amazing. The door was closed when we arrived so we called and they miss on the phone said sorry we are just getting back from lunch and that was completely understandable. They took my boyfriend for his appointment minutes after signing in. A lady then came out to me and showed me this amazing dentist building. Seems weird to say, but I had an amazing experience at California smile. First off the staff was great. Knowable, friendly, clean and professional. I haven't been to see a dentist in fifteen years so my mouth and teeth needed a lot of attention and work. Every step of the way the staff was helpful and encouraging. It really made me feel more comfortable when everyone from the X-ray technician, to the doctor, to the receptionist, all assured me everything was going to be fine. There's nothing to be afraid or ashamed of. I have a unique financial situation(broke!) so it was looking rather difficult to start a treatment plan for my teeth. But with the combined efforts of four of the staffers we found a way to get most of the work I needed done on that visit with almost no out of pocket expense. I'm not saying they can do that for everybody in every situation but they will try. They want you to have a healthy smile that you're proud of. I will be coming back for all my dental needs. This place gets 5 stars for many different reasons. The service they provide is very good. Dr. Karimi worked on my mouth and he was very informative with what the issues were and my options. While he did the work he communicated to me what he was doing. The dental assistant (don't know his name) was very good when he took out my old crown. He too communicated with me as to what to expect. Also, the ladies at the front desk are very nice and always cheery. Puts me to shame as I am not that cheery so early on a Saturday morning but seeing them puts a smile on my face. Not to mention, their zen room is amazing. it's a nice touch. I have been to this facility 4 times because of the amount of work I needed and only once I waited over 20 minutes but I did not mind because I was hanging out in the zen room. The other 3 times I wish they hadn't called me as fast as they did just so I can continue my massage on their massage chair. I guess my only complaint is I would like for them to take on the HMO side so my husband can go to this dentist as well. The Saturday appointments are very convenient. So I need a dentist and I haven't been to one in a really long time. Too long in fact. But low and behold this week I had a filling fallout. Before I get into that lets talk about how I got to California Smiles. Well a few months ago the ig account for California Smiles started following me. So I went to yelp to see what's up. They looked cool and I knew I needed to make an appointment. Skip forward to my filling falling out. I called them yesterday and they literally had an appointment opening today Saturday. So I take it. I show up and wow this place is clean and well decorated, for a medical / dental facility. I fill out the paperwork and go on the tour. Um, they really have everything they say they do on the website. I chose to chill in the zen room. I just gotta say that is the best way to go. I got a massage while I played games on my iPad. I got X-rays. A lot of them. But I guess as a new patient they wanted to see exactly what is going on in that mouth of mine. And apparently a whole lot. But I kinda already knew that was coming. Today I got the filling taken care a deep cleaning and stearn talking to about my oral hygiene(I deserve it). Everyone at this place is top notch, you feel like a welcome guest. They seem to generally care about your well being and comfort through the whole process. I don't remember everyone's name but from the amount of work I need to get done I feel we will all be besties by the end of the year. I don't know if you can tell but I love this place. They're all so nice(which is why I gave an extra star but that's it) but the dental work compared to my previous dental experiences are just...sad. Where do I begin? Everyone is apprehensive when it comes to visiting the dentist. I had not been to the dentist in over two years because I don't have insurance, and because I work nearly 70 hours per week, so it is difficult for me to find time to go. When I called and spoke to Michael, some of my initial fears were put to rest (i.e., costs). I made an appointment for the next day, which was Saturday, July 25. The initial x-rays don't take too long, and then afterward you're released to use any one of this office's many amenities while you wait for your exam with the doctor. My boyfriend took advantage of the cafe with complimentary coffee and snacks. There is also a children's room with a daycare attendant, an arcade and game room for teenagers (I think there is actually more than one of these, but I only visited the one), a movie theater room with reclining leather chairs and a television, and a "zen room", where you can sit and listen to relaxing music in a Brookstone massage chair. We did this for about an hour until I was called in to speak to the doctor. I am always apprehensive about getting work done in my mouth. I am sure I am not the only one who is terrified of the dentist. I needed a few fillings and a cleaning. Some of the fillings were on the left side of my mouth and some were on the right. In the interest of time (and my sanity) I opted to get the cleaning done, as well as the fillings on the left side of my mouth. The dentist was very nice, although he speaks very broken English, if he says anything to you at all. His bedside manner and the skill exhibited during procedures all but negate the fact that you cannot really have a conversation with him. I cried like a big baby, of course, because getting stuck with the needle NEVER feels good, but I am especially sensitive when it comes to my mouth. In fact, two days later and I am still struggling to open my mouth all the way (am wondering if my boyfriend does not find this side-effect particularly useful...). Anyway, I am going back in September for the fillings on the right side of my mouth. I feel lucky to have found such an accommodating place with such caring individuals. Everyone here is super friendly and sympathetic to the fact that I am a gigantic baby and even swatted the dentist away when I thought he was going to give me another shot, when it was actually just medicine. While I wouldn't say that I am looking forward to coming back here (because that would be a lie), the prospect of coming here is far less scary than previously anticipated. Once, I got here the ladies at the deck made my sister and I feel at home. Victor took good care of me as well as every one here . I gave a 4 star because I have to come back and get my wrk finished. I have to see how the final product comes out, right? I'm sure it will be fine though. Pain is beauty and my teeth are important to me. One thing is though, make sure you have time to spend here. Because since it's a great place they have a lot of people traffic and they seem short staffed. They do come in a check up on you very often and ask for any recommendations to keep you entertained. Today was my first time visit at California Smiles in Long Beach. I haven't been to a dentist in a while so I was a little nervous. When I first walked in, the from desk was very professional. The receptionist showed me around the office and all the amenities that they had to offer. It included a coffee table with extra snacks, a game room, zen room and Etc. it was quit amazing. They told me it would be a few minutes to take my Information, and let me pick a room to hang out and relax until they were ready to take me in. Once it was time for my cleaning a lady hygienist came and told me she was going to start my cleaning. She did a great job!!! I loved that she was really gentle and knew I was really nervous. I felt really comfortable that she knew what she was talking about. She talked me through my whole cleaning and also went over flossing and brushing to prevent cavities. The doctor dentist was also very knowledgable himself. He also did a great job. He got straight to the point and made sure my cavity was taken care of correctly. I felt no pain at the moment or anytime after my appointment. I felt very comfortable at this dental office and I would highly recommend other people to check them out. They really stand out, out of all the other offices in the area. I didn't have any insurance so I paid out of pocket. they are very reasonable with prices! Amazing dental office for all ages! While I filled out papers the kids got to venture into the teen zone where there was arcades and a theater I am absolutes floored at the beautiful office is. They are great with the kids and were very attentive to all our needs. The office manager Michael really went above and beyond with the service that was provided. Kids where provided drinks and snacks while I was getting my work finished off. They absolutely loved it and made me promise to bring them back here for there next appointment. Wow to have these kids looking forward to there next dental visit is amazing. What can I say...I am blown away! Never in a million years did I expect to have such an amazing experience at the dentist. Earlier this year, I was a victim to an unfortunate incident that resulted in oral surgery that left my jaw wired shut for 6 weeks. Their rep (Lorena) went to our office soliciting customers and gathered info for eligibility. They promised no copay! It was too good to be true! And true enough I wasted my time traveling and setting aside my time for an appointment. They had a whole freaking day to run eligibility and at least be considerate to let me know that they're not an In-network provider for my insurance. But nope they don't care about that. They even text me an appointment reminder on the day without letting me know until I was there physically that they're not a network provider and I will have out of pocket costs! Are you guys serious? What's a 5 min phone call to give me a heads up at least. You guys suck! Stay away from them and take your business else where! Poor customer service! read more

I use to love going to this dentist. The staff was always so nice. Wait would always be long but it was worth it for the great work they would do. I needed major dental work done. When I spoke with the office manager by the name of Eden she had gave me a set price for the bridge work needing. I was told I needed to put a large deposit amount I was not able to afford at the time. I was advised they don't bill the insurance to see what's covered until they start the work. Which I thought was strange. I waited to go back and when I did go back few months later. I spoke with the receptionist and when I told her about the price Eden had quoted me. She then went to confirm with Eden and she replied with she don't remember and if I had a text to prove what she had quoted me. Sad to say I never received a paper with how much. One of the staff there that does the bridge work is excellent. It's sad to be treated like you had no history at this office. I had my whole family coming to this office. FYI if you get a quote from Eden at California Smiles make sure you get it on paper because that was my mistake. I had no proof because I trusted her word. I went into this dentist office for the first time with my husband. They have a waiting room with snacks, Zen room, game room, and a theater room. We waited two hours to be seen which was fine bc of all the things they offer there so the wait wasn't a big deal. We were called into have our X-ray taken after we where done, (Here's where my two star rating comes in) My husband and I where greeted by a flirtatious women with big curly blonde hair. The lady had on a TINY, skin tight dress with her breast hanging out. I was confused as to why she was walking around the office as if she was working at a night club. Whenever she'd ask my husband a question his eyes went directly to her boobs which he and I couldn't help! They were just there! When she turned around you could literally see through her dress.
