I really wanted to like this place. So many good reviews. So I went here after not having gone to the dentist in 6 years. Regular cleaning and X-rays 49$ cool. So I'll have some money left over for my fillings I'm sure I'll have! Is what I was thinking. After my teeth were looked at the finance woman jelly came in and told me the dentist recommended a deep cleaning and 3 fillings. she told me it was "where they numb your whole mouth and clean way under your gums" she never told me there was multiple different kinds of deep cleanings...wait for it... So the deep cleaning was $280. And to do all my fillings was 280 so I said okay I'll do the deep cleaning because I've heard so many good things about deep cleaning a lot of my friends had it done and were so happy they did. And I would come back later for the fillings. So the dentist came in I asked her how long it would take she said 15 minutes. I'm like WOW!! for a deep cleaning I've heard this takes an hour mostly. But okay! So she puts some topical numbing cream on my 2 front teeth: that's all! And then starts scratching around with the stick at the plaque around my teeth then spends about 1 minute on my mouth which what felt like a water flosser. And then someone polished my teeth and I was done. I asked the lady who polished my teeth. What is the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning. And she really didn't have an answer. Ok so I paid and left. My fiancé went in for his X-rays and cleaning a week later! Today! They told him the same thing you need a deep cleaning $280 and some root canals! So he choose the deep cleaning and choose to come back for the root canals. Well his $280 included 10-12 shots of numbing medication and an hour of work under his gums. Hmmmmmm and so I called and asked about why I paid so much for something I felt was a normal cleaning process to say the least. Her answer was there is multiple different kinds of deep cleanings and we should have charged you fiancé more. But why should u have charged him more? If you told me! That they were going to numb my whole mouth and go under my gums for the same 280? How does his make any sense? I can't wait to find an honest dentist. For someone who is a cash patient, it's hard to do! All they want is your money. So sad! The search continues read more

*Updated Review* Still a nice, clean, and professional facility; but I don't understand why every time I go to California Smiles, I never EVER see the same dentist twice. As a customer you want to see consistency which I have not had here. I was having pain in my tooth whenever I spoke and I went in about six times to have them "adjust" the cavity they filled because I was still in pain after the first 5 times. And still after the 6th time no luck. I took a vacation back to Oregon where I had my original orthodontist take a look at it, he fixed the problem in a 15 minute appointment by adjusting my BITE and not my FILLING. I don't understand why the dentists at CS couldn't have possibly thought of that? When I went in for my cleaning I asked the dentist to look around for cavities and she says back "oh I'm just here to clean that would be the actual dentist job" .... So you're telling me that you're going around in my mouth and teeth and "cleaning" and you went to dental school but you don't know what a cavity looks like? I really wanted to like this place but I might have to find somewhere else if they can't get it together. read more

Sophia the hygienist is very gentle, she's the best! I hadn't been to the dentist in years and was afraid of what condition my teeth would be in. All the staff especially Leslie is very pleasant, and professional . The facility looks great, but the service was the worst service I've ever had in the freaking world. I was there for over three and a half hours and still didn't get to see the dentist, so I walked out! I am so furious with this place that's why I'm giving them one star. I will never go back, & I sure the hell will not refer this place to anybody. read more

It's not your typical dentist office layout, they have way more than just a lobby. The front office staff is really nice and I had a great dentist named Will. Solid place. Friendly people, and a super cool waiting area that included massage hairs, old school video arcade games, a movie theatre room, and a bunch of snacks. Really cool place and happy I made the switch here. Hear they just opened up so probably still looking for new patients, maybe that factors in why they really go out of their way to accommodate to their patients. I found out I had two cavities and they took what insurance would pay, and wave the rest-- I've never had that happen, sweet stuff!! Heard about this place from my previous employer. They came to our job and talked to us about different options. In comparison to my previous dentist they are exceptional and would recommend everyone to come here. They have an amazing facility with massage room, kids play area and cinema. Let me start out by saying that the employees here all have great attitudes and personalities. Very helpful and well spoken . My first time deffintly felt welcoming and pleasant. Lesly the front desk girl was awesome and greeted me with a smile . She even checked on me in the room to let me know the status of when the doctor was going to come in and the steps of how everything was going to be done and in order they would do so. She made me feel welcomed and confident that I was making the right decisions in my dentist work that needed to be done . The X-ray technician was very friendly and was very gentle on my sensitive teeth . Both dentists who worked on me were super intelligent and understanding and I think that's super important. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I will for sure come back to this dentist for all my dental work :) read more

Never been so impressed with a dentist. Excellent customer service and on point with customer satisfaction. Very clean and very nice office.

Why five stars? 1. I suffer from anxiety, I made it aware to the two front office staff (Lesly & Karina) who assured me they would make me as comfortable as possible and in fact they did! 2. The X-ray technician was gentle and made sure I was doing fine. 3. Dr. Karimi was very understanding of my uneasiness and made it very comfortable when explaining my dental treatment, he explained why I needed certain procedures and how I will benefit in the long run. He literally explained everything in detail and answered all my questions (unlike other offices that just say hey you need this this and that. ) 4. The hygienist was beyond amazing and educated me on how important it is to floss and brush correctly. 5. They do clear aligners to straighten my teeth which is what I was looking for. Allen took my impressions and made it so easy. I'm a cash patient and let me tell you their prices can not be beat, and neither can their office! Their entire staff is great. The back office supervisor and office manager checked in on me periodically to make sure my visit was comfortable. This office is different from any other office I have been to, simply because they genuinely care about their patients! I highly recommend this office to everyone! read more

If you JUST HATE going to the dentist because a) you hate needles, b) the offices that you've been to in the past are sooo boring and the wait too long or c) dental prices are just to doggone high ! - well I've got a great place for you ! CALIFORNIA SMILES in Long Beach is incredible ! As soon as you step into the door, your anxieties quickly float away ! The staff are so friendly and Mike ( he prefers to be called by his first name ) will answer any question you may have . And don't think you'll have to wait in the waiting room ! You have a VARIETY of places to wait - a theatre room, playroom for children , a video game room for teens ( I seem to catch a few adults in there too) and my personal fav - THE ZEN ROOM . That room has massage chairs, soft music and comfortable lighting so you're well relaxed and prepared for that ole dentist (giggle). I came in for a tour of the facility. And it is quite beautiful. It's equipped with so many amenities. It's so comfortable and relaxing you forget you're at a dentists office. A young man by the name of Fredy showed me around. He was so informative and inviting. So knowledgeable and friendly. There is nothing like having a great staff. And California Smiles not only has a fantastic staff but all of these cool features like a Zen room with massage chairs and water fountains. It's got a theater and arcade. They've got complimentary snacks and the building is so spacious you never feel like you're in a waiting room. It's awesome! read more

Came in for an exam and I had the most amazing experience with the doctors and staff here. The doctor I saw explained my treatment very well and made me feel very comfortable (Dr.Borna). The front staff girls were very knowledgable with my insurance and helped me understand my plan much better. I do not recommend this office! They care more about money than their patients. The first time I ever went to this place was because I was referred. I did a tooth extraction. I was then suggested to get a bridge/implant after and one of the receptionists (Hispanic girl with curly hair) that usually comes to discuss the dental plan gave me a "price" I paid about $700 that day and was basically told another $800 when I came back to do the implant. I have no knowledge in dentistry so I believed her and was okay with paying that. When I went back for the bridge I was told it would cost about another $2000 out of pocket since my insurance was maxed out. I was so confused. I spoke to one of the other receptionists, Leslie and i told her the girl with the curly hair told me that price and she basically made a liar of me because i didn't have the scrap paper SHE wrote my estimate in. I understand what an estimate is but a difference of almost $2000 is absurd. Leslie was kind enough to assist and suggested I go back as soon as my benefits restarted, i agreed since I didn't have $2000 just laying around. So I decided to give them a second chance after that funny misunderstanding and I also took my daughter this time. This was 11/9/19. They were great with my kid no issues there. this time I was told I also needed a crown and possible root canal on another tooth. And the girl told me that alone would "probably" use up my whole benefit. I wanted the appt and since they don't have a specialist on site the couldn't get me in until a month later 12/5/19, I could've taken my business elsewhere to be seen sooner but I didn't. I had an emergency and had to go elsewhere for a wisdom tooth that was causing me severe pain. To my knowledge they usually close Monday's. Which is why I didn't bother calling. I went elsewhere for the removal and they gave me a better price at the new office so I made the appt for my crown. I called THIS office today 12/3/19 to cancel my appt on 12/5/19 and Leslie told me "well technically you had to call yesterday" to avoid the cancellation fee." So we're going to charge you the $50. I said are you serious and she didn't bother to accommodate in any kind of way. I don't believe I should be charged as I called 2 days before the appt and most places standard cancellation is 48 hrs which I did call. So now I really feel like this place is all about the money. She cared more for a $50 cancellation fee than my entire business!so this experience alone is the worst ever! I tried texting them and they ALWAYS text back. Well not today! So this is the last time I or my family go there and I will not recommend anyone to this place again. read more
