Stop! This USED to be a great place until new owners took over!. Brought my car in with an issue they found the issue, they were great, then, I asked for the part to be ordered and made a date in two weeks to bring my car back in to be repaired. Brought car in a day early in case it could be done quicker. Hard to be without a car. Second day at 4:15 pm I got a call part did not come in. I said what do you mean, it should have been ordered two weeks ago, they he rudely said we can't control when parts come in, I said really!!!!!!!! Two days with my car and NO part that should have been ordered two weeks ago. You have now lost TWO customers, won't be back! read more

I have a 2017 Audi Q7 that I had taken to another shop with some issues related to the front parking sensors suddenly malfunctioning. The other shop wanted to take the front end of my car apart to find the problem and charge a huge price for diagnostic. A colleague who owned an Audi overheard me talking about it and said I needed to try California Star. He described them as the "Audi whisperers". He was right. They got my car in the next week. Within two hours they called me to say a rodent had chewed the wire to the sensor causing the malfunction. They replaced the wire and the car was already done. Total cost less than $300. The battery began to fail in my 2019 Audi so I went to my mechanic who rents space at a local gas station. He said he didn't have the technology to replace the battery and referred me to Lafayette CA Star where one of the owners has extensive Audi service experience. They confirmed the battery was dying and replaced it. They did not try to upsell me any additional services. The total service was not cheap but I'm confident it was less than what a dealer would charge. The facility is clean, well-lit, and organized but not lux, e.g., there is no waiting room, like a dealer. While having electrical work done on my 2004 MZB SL500 at another service shop, they discovered some issues that might need further diagnosis and possible repairs. Because these items were outside their service capabilities, they recommended that I contact California Star. I contacted California Star to schedule an appointment so they could determine the scope of any potential repairs. They told me that they would perform a system diagnosis to determine necessary repairs. Indeed, additional repairs were required, and they provided me with a cost estimate. The work was scheduled and completed on the time as promised. They noticed that one of the necessary repairs was still covered under dealer warranty and recommended that I contact a MZB dealer. I did and the warranty work was done at no cost to me. Thanks California Star! My MZB SL500 has found a new auto repair shop! read more
