The night before going to Lake Tahoe, I was in the process of swapping out my snow tires when my wheel stud snapped. Panicked that my trip was going to be ruined, I called Moraga Motors in the morning, explained the situation and Ron was very polite, courteous, and after some questions, he was able to squeeze me into their busy day. I brought the car in (with 3 of 5 studs intact) around 11am and by 2pm I was out the door. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly. They even had to special order parts from Livermore and I saw that they lifted the car up and got it all prepped and timed such that when the delivery guy came, they were ready to get the parts in. They inspected not just the tire in question, but all of my other tires too and even made sure they were all good to go and inflated to spec. In the end, it they replaced two studs, replaced one lug nut and it came out to about $100 total, which I think is incredibly fair, especially in such short notice, and I see their space is jam packed. To top it off, I wanted to express my thanks and appreciation and was going to give him a big tip, but he respectfully declined and wished me well on my journey! If he wanted to nickel and dime me, he would have done it here. Hats off. I highly recommend this place! He saved our trip. read more

I started taking my car here in 2018 on recommendation from a coworker at Saint Mary's College. I've been bringing my car back ever since. I have worked with the owner Ron and more recently Marcus has been answering my calls and helping me at the front desk. What I appreciate the most is how transparent they are. They always quote me a rough ball park for the cost of the work before I sign off on it, and often the final invoice comes in below the quote. Last year I had them redo a bunch a work on my engine mounts that Midas had done, because Midas didn't use OEM replacement parts and they were causing an issue. Moraga Motors was able to rectify it, and even give me a small discount knowing I was paying to redo work that had just been done. They do great work at reasonable rates and are always super friendly. Cannot recommend them enough. Bonus, the County Connection bus stop is steps away, so I'm able to drop off my car and take the bus home or to work. It's super convenient. read more

We love Moraga Motors. Honest, reliable, and reasonable. They've maintained and repaired a few of our cars and we will continue to use them for our work. So hard to find a good mechanic. We initially needed an engine rebuilt on one of our cars and they gave us a very good price for the work. They were honest about the scope of the work and how long it would take. They did a great job on the rebuild and extended the life of our car by more than 10 years. More recently, another one of our cars broke down and the owner Ron gave me honest advice that there may actually be a better route for our work at the dealership for this particularly tricky repair as it's prone to failure (even though he said could do it cheaper). This same advice was corroborated by a few other reputable mechanics and I appreciated the ethics Ron showed in referring out work. Then next time I had work to be done, he did our repair under budget and ahead of schedule. Ron and his team are polite, forthcoming, and priced reasonably for all of their work. read more

First. Tires and tune-ups do not make for a fair review. Maintenence doesn't really count, either. Try serious problems. How about using after market parts that don't last. Motor mounts should last a lot longer than two or three years. Thanks to the crappy parts Moraga motors used on my vehicle, I am now having to crush the car! Moraga motors charged me $1500 to replace my motor mounts just two years ago. Well, they failed and suddenly, compromising my tranny, my axles, and God knows what else. Doesn't matter. The cost to repair 50% of the mechanics on my vehicle due to the substandard parts used (with above standard prices for such parts) is too high. If I could sue, I would. Don't let the 5 star ratings fool you. I know more people who feel the same way I do about this place. Bad expriences! Read the posts. Note the years. I have not read enough post with serious, involved mechanical problems to warrent questioning my opinion. And Ron may be a nice guy, but he is not the one under the hood. He has staff working on the cars. He rode in my car with me for 1/4 of a mile at most. He never worked on my car, and I doubt he supervised. Long story short...Because I had work done on my vehicle at Moraga Motors, my sweet little automobile is going to the grave yard. It all happened in a minute, no warning. I got a flat tire and managed to get to a gas station in Moraga, and they saw it was not holding air so sent me to Moraga Motors. They put on my spare tire quickly and treated me so well; they also recommended some good tire places nearby to buy new ones. Asked them about a hitch installation on my RAV4. They do not sell the part itself, recommended how to select a proper one on internet and installed it for me when ti received the part. I asked them to complete the installation before 1pm as I needed a car to drive my daughter to her appointment, and even though they were busy with other orders, they were able to accommodate my request. I am so grateful for all they have done- from oil changes to brakes - all the work has been professional and on time. I've been a loyal client for 13 years and recommended many friends to Moraga Motors. Once, I got some fringe from a scarf caught in my seat belt buckle and Ron was able to fix it in less than a minute. The last time I went in my check engine light was on. They calmly walked me through what it could be. It turned out to just be my gas cap lid - that I had dropped and a part fell off. They replaced it with a lid with a cord attached! So thoughtful! The best part of the service is honest answers. At one point I told Ron I was thinking of getting a new car & knowing my son was about to reach driving age he said he didn't recommend it. Don't be so shocked by all the '5 star reviews' here! The guys at Moraga Motors deserve it! No one likes that feeling. The one where you have to take your used car in for service. Routine maintenance or an ugly surprise that leaves you feeling vulnerable about what it's going to cost to get your wheels back on the road. Well, the latter was my situation. One of our trusted drives had some BAD symptoms. A close friend confidently recommended Ron and his team. They did not disappoint. The car in question has been modestly neglected. They quickly diagnosed the issue, and were able to provide answers and solutions that relieved ALL of my tension on the matter. Their prices and assessments are so fair honest and on point I was a little surprised. In addition, they identified another MAJOR safety issue that HAD to be addressed. i know enough about cars, to know the real deal regarding repair, NOT enough to do the work alone. I was SO grateful they identified this issue, AND for the price they asked to correct it. They've also helped with a prioritized list to help get this vehicle back in tip top shape. Service Extraordinaire! My car tire suddenly lost pressure so I drove straight here. Ron has repaired tires with nails for me in the past with great results. After pulling off the tire he discovered a chunk of metal embedded in the tread and he could not repair. A new tire was needed. After phoning several sources, he determined a new tire would not be available for 4 days. It was a 6 mo. old car and I was concerned with leaving it in the lot that long. Ron offered to move my car into a service bay for the duration. I got a call at 11 this morning that the new tire was on. Ready for pick up earlier than expected. I am one happy driver and praise to Moraga Motors for their great service! I also want to add several years ago we had a '98 Civic with intermittent speedometer issues. Wonderful customer service. I had brought my car here for an oil change, and a few days later, I noticed a slight flopping sound that I could hear only when I was driving slowly in a quiet area. I studied my tires and couldn't find a source for the sound. Over the course of two weeks or so, while my logical brain knew there was probably nothing wrong safety-wise, my emotional brain became more convinced the sound meant one of my wheels was going to fly off the next time I went on the highway (I'm currently pregnant so maybe hormones were making me extra paranoid). I was hesitant to bring my car back in because I thought it was likely they would dismiss my concern (probably because of experiences I've had using awful Honda dealership service centers). When I finally built up the nerve to call Moraga Motors they told me to bring my car in that day if it was convenient. When Ron couldn't hear the sound, he had Corey (I think that was his name? If not, I apologize!) sit with me as I drove around the Home Goods parking lot so he could hear the sound. Corey discovered one of the plastic tabs on a hubcap wasn't in properly, and when he fixed that, the sound went away! I wouldn't have been able to figure that out myself. Now I feel much better driving my car and am grateful Moraga Motors took me seriously and spent time to address my concerns, even though they weren't getting any extra money for it. I'm sorry I did not get the name of the wonderful gentleman who hwelped me today, but I'd like to express my appreciation. I currently have a goofy rental car as someone backed into my car and it is in shop being fixed. I do not like this huge rental car. I had an appointment this afternoon and when I parked the low front piece got stuck on the parking curb. when I backed up, the piece came loose. I stopped at Moraga Motors to see if they could help as I could hear the thing dragging. They were really busy, but the guy working the office offered to look at the car. He could see that I was not the only one to have had this issue with the car, it had signs that others had used zip ties to reattach the piece. He fixed it the best he could. He was sweating like crazy, but didn't charge me for the fix. He was so sweet and helpful. I will definitely use this business again. They are great! Thank you, young man, you made my day! read more

Moraga Motors is the best. After getting a service quote from Walnut Creek Ford for $1700 (fuel pump and fuel injection flush; they also charged me an extra $70 for a diagnosis), I took my car to Ron. They replaced the fuel pump for $700, and did it in one morning. He also told me to add one $9 bottle of Chevron Fuel Cleaner (Techron Concentrate Plus) every 3500 miles, and it would keep everything clean. I totally trust these guys - they're old school customer service guys. They get it. I'll use them from now on. Forget the dealership. read more
