They were horribly expensive for the service I received. I gave 2 stars because the guys were polite but I would not recommend them. The problems were 1. They arrived 45 minutes late. 2. They take no responsibility for ANY damage they cause. 3. I paid $800 to move a 2 bedroom apartment (no appliances involved). 4. They broke the corner of my dresser mirror and the company would not recompensate me because I didn't buy additional insurance. 5. I contacted them that same evening and sent them a picture of the broken item. They said "we could send somebody over to fix it when are you available"?. We scheduled a time and date and they never showed up. I contacted them as they didn't show up and we scheduled another date. And again they didn't show up. I was really fooled that this was a real moving company. They are just a bunch of guys that rent a large truck and pretend to be professional movers. They did damage that they took no responsibility for and they wouldn't respond to my calls or messages afterwards. There was a point to where they had to put some furniture that didn't fit in the truck in one of their personal trucks and a rug flew out of the truck and they never stopped to get it. They dented and scratched some of my furniture and then ripped my couch which is leather and a very expensive couch. They refused to take care of the damage. Mike the owner told me I didn't take out insurance to cover my furniture which was never offered to me. It wasn't offered and I didn't opt out of insurance coverage. amazing service!!!!!!! my favorite yelp review that i have ever written. where to begin: i live in norcal my father lived in socal. he passed away and i found myself at his home in norcal. after people were done going thru his things i was allowed to finally view what was left. being that he leased a townhome/condo i had to have anything that my sons wanted packed up to come w us to norcal. we took items to donation and dumps. they also moved every unwanted item into the garage downstairs--------3 flights of stairs!!!! no elevator! it was amazing! once done they moved it allll to norcal for me to offload. i have moved so many times in my life and i can honestly say that we have never ever had better movers!!! happy the entire time whatever we wanted they would do they helped me sort thru 4 filing cabinets it seemed endless.... i even nicknamed them all bc they were so fun. it was like having the nicest family members with you. they were on time also. you will lovvvve them. and to add lastly, when the building manager was screaming at me bc it was almost 10:00 pm....my movers stepped in a bit to de-escalate the sitch. we thank you castressfreemovers!!! you were our blessing!!! read more

Can I give zero stars? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! It took them over an hour to move 20 small to medium sized boxes to the truck and an additional three hours to move 10 regular-sized pieces of furniture. After two hours I sent a complaint email to the company and was informed via email the following; "Good afternoon I just spoke with them they've explained the fact that there is an elevator and a long walk to get to the truck and also how losing up takes time being the fact they have to organize the truck to assure everything fits safely inside" I had showed them the stairs so they would not have to use the elevator and it was less than 100 ft to the truck from the elevator. After I complained again one of the movers informed me that they were the owner of the company and that I was unfamiliar with the moving process and that it was going to take at least four hours to get everything out. (Note, I moved myself into the apartment with the same furniture with two friends helping me in three hours.) They also refused to unload the truck until I had given them my debit card. In addition, all of my boxes were clearly marked with the location; either master bedroom or kitchen. Everything was dumped in my living room. Do not use this company, they trick you with a low hourly rate of $75 and then take twice as long to complete the job. read more

Another great experience. This is my second time using cal stress free moving company and it worked out great. David and his assistant were very patient with me and helpful. I had to leave for awile and david packed up my TV equipment for me and brought it to the new house. That was important to me because i forgot about it. Dave took care of us, and was very forgiving of the monster load of movables. He's professional, thorough, and clean and clear about prices for state-to-state moves. His good company is a bonus. His staff was polite, respectful, and VERY helpful. All four were awesome, but extra shout out to Hector and Arthur for the serious diligence when crossing the country to bring us out stuff undamaged. I have to be honest, I am not one to pay someone else to do a job that I am capable of doing myself. Because of this it is hard for me to find value in these types of services. However after much consideration I decided to hire these guys to move my belongings from my old residence to my new one and I must say they truly wowed me. It was so easy, I didn't have to worry about renting or borrowing a truck, or who I was going to get to help me move. They did it all with ease and professionalism. They were very friendly it almost felt as if they were old friends of mine, they were able to converse with me at the same time as they were moving my stuff with out damaging any of the property or my belongings. I was worried about the fact that this contracted services was based on an hourly rate, because at times some people tend to take longer to do a job so that they could yield a greater profit but not these guys they were straight to the point in and out in under 3 1/2 hours including travel time, at an extremely reasonable price! They did such a great job I was completed to treat them to in n out! (I don't do this to often). BEWARE!! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT HIRE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!!!!! YOU WILL BE MAKING A VERY BIG MISTAKE. You will read a mix of good and bad reviews. Believe the bad! What they say is true. First of all....This so called company is NOT A PROFESSIONAL MOVING COMPANY. The only thing they did right was show up on time. They did not know how to us a dolly. They used it backwards so every time they went over the threshold they launched the dolly in the air and landed it, like they were jumping the threshold. They did not use any blankets, shirk wrap or anything to protect my furniture. The first issue was when David (the owner) dropped the pedestal off my TV and damaged it. He pretended like it didn't happen but my son saw him drop it. I asked what was his plan to compensate me for the damage. It answer was (I pay .60 cents a pound. Not sure what the hell that meant but after discussion. David was not prepared to replace or otherwise anything they damage or break. After painfully watching David crawl like a snail after all boxes were loaded and it came to furniture. David made one trip at a time while the other guy was in the truck organizing. DAVID LIKES TO MILK IT SO HE CAN EXCEED WHAT HE QUOTED (TYPICAL 4 HOURS). After we finished packing one house and ready to move on to the new. David and his co-worker got lost for over an hour. Of course he wanted me to pay for his hour when I got there is 30 min. MILK N IT!!!! I told him I will not pay for his trip or the time he wasted moving one item at a time. Once at the new house. David and his co-worker moved in the appliances first. Washer and dryer made it but the very expensive refrigerator did not. They did not secure the cord and rolled over it smashed it beyond use. David was insistent on plugging it in to see if the plug still worked. The was no longer a third prong (the ground) and the others were twisted and mutilated. My son and David got into a verbal argument about how he can not plug it in and if he wouldn't take responsibility for the damage so far, he definitely would not replace my frig. We had to ask him to get out of our house. David then calls 911. Why? I have no idea. In the end of this very horrific day, David's co-worker (great worker) unloaded all the boxes and furniture on him own while David cried like a baby girl and refused to help. My son and I had to bring everything in ourselves. David is an ass and should be run out of business. DO NOT GIVE THIS GUYS YOUR BUSINESS EVEN IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT. Both movers were very helpful and friendly. Move was very stress free. They even help load a U-haul that was going to a different location than they were. Dave and his partner were very courteous and professional. They had shrink wrap for my furniture and took apart the bed with no issues. Took my stuff to storage unit, organized it and done! This was the worst experience I've ever had with a business. I booked my move almost 2 weeks ahead to be safe for an 11 am arrival. They were 4 hours late and started moving without wrapping or prepping anything. They scratched 5 of my kitchen cabinets and broke my floorboard. They ruined the face of my new fridge by trying to squeeze it out the front door that was too small and when I started complaining about what they were doing one of the guys said " they just picked me up at Home Depot" when we arrived at the new house they said we need to be paid now or we can't unload the furniture. I had to call the police and proceed to unload my own furniture. The cop told me it was a civil matter and just pay and take it up in court. So I did and when I called to ask the owner for some type of compensation the next day he said " you just want a free move" This company should not be in business and the name Stress Free.... Horrible experience with rep Dave, and drivers Marcus & Eric and did not have license to drive. After arguing with Dave on phone about quote of $400 he wanted $200 more and was under 4 hours. We finally agreed on $500 but had to go to ATM for the extra $100 and that's when I discovered my wallet stolen from my purse!!! My new landlord's jewelry box stolen as well. They threatened to keep rest of items in truck if I did not pay them that they would take to storage per contract and demanded cash!! I went to bank got $500 and paid them but Marcus said " where is the rest of it" ! They finally gave me back my dresser, mattress, & boxes and left them on the sidewalk blocking the driveway. I never got my signed copy of contract and my new landlord decided not to rent room to me. We both filed police report and guess what weeks later I found a jewelry box and my wallet hidden in my boxes. Of course my $400 cash was taken. Horrible. Worst day ever. Movers supposed to be at our condo at 9am. When they didn't show, my husband called no answer he then text several times and finally got a response that she was assisting a another move and she would contact us when finished. Another hour, then 2 went by and my husband called again. Finally she contacted us saying movers would be at our home around noon. When the movers showed, it wasn't cal stress moving company, it was someone they hired. They had a small truck which barely ran and had to keep filling with water, no blankets to wrap our oak furniture in (we told cal stress movers we had all solid oak furniture ahead of time and they stressed to us "whatever you need we will be happy to supply for you) no wardrobe boxes which were promised to us, one small dolly, no refrigerator dolly, and it took them 6 hours and 2 trips to move our small 2 bedroom condo less than 3 miles away from our new home. My furniture which is solid oak and 30 years old not only has dents and scratches now but they used packing tape to close the drawers which took the finish off, they placed the water hose on my coffee table which leaked and removed the finish as well. They broke our BBQ, lamp shades, and cracked an end table. And the kicker?? If we didn't want to pay for another who knows how many hours and another trip, we knew we would have to move all our clothes and things they weren't equipped to move with out breaking ourselves.
