I've been coming to this location for years and love all the staff. This location is my absolute favorite out of all the local locations. The facility itself is clean, modern and equip with top-notch tanning beds and spray booth, making it quick and easy. I was in need of some new lotion today and Jalyn was knowledgeable and explain all the lotions I was interested in. Her expertise and willingness to help was admirable. I used to think this place focused on quality. After reactivating my membership for tanning, I was hoping for the same experience I had from before. Front desk girl was alone and busting her butt trying to help everyone which I appreciated. However, I was given this towel to dry off after my spray. The towel was beyond used. When my cleaning rags at home get this bad, I throw them out, but yet they give this to their customers?!! Are you kidding me? Now I am regretting renewing my membership. Lesson learned, will bring my own towels. This also makes me question where this $30 facility fee is going to. I strongly suggest that you train your employees how to behave politely and be respectful to customers. No matter who they are or what time they come to use your services. Any other location has always accepted customers at anytime up until even a couple minutes after close of business. Unfortunately, Antelope is not one of those places. I knew I would be arriving this evening before 20:00 - within 1 min or less before 20:00. As I walked up to the door, the young woman working at the salon was just about to turn off the Open sign. I waved at her, and she motioned me to come inside. I was just about to let ourt a huge sigh of relief and thank her for accepting me. I did not arrive after closing, I arrived literally moments before... even after letting me enter the salon and offering me a false sense of hope - she chose to refuse any services to me. I felt baffled, confused and pretty disappointed. I tried to point out that it was just at that moment officially close of business and that I felt confused why she would even let me inside only to just tell me no... she decided to inform me that she was close by herself so she would be left to complete her duties for closing alone - she also went on to say that if it were "literally any other night" she would have let me, "but not tonight." Obviously this employee was having a bad day. So, it's clear that she did not intend on making the experience good or even possible at all for me. I can only imagine how other customers may have been affected. It's not your customer's fault or problem that your employees don't know how to complete their tasks as expected. If you're going to close your business before 20:00 - then don't let people in only to turn them away. That's embarrassing and it's also quite rude. Im very disappointed by how I was treated at this location. I've actually made it a point to go to other locations before this one- even though I live 2 minutes from this salon. Most of my experiences are not this negative here, but I've never felt welcomed or good about how my services felt. Staff has mostly been kind with the exception of a couple. Management at the corporate level needs to know how poorly customers are being treated here so a chance for good services can come to light here. It's unfortunate to have had such a negative experience tonight because I literally look forward to Cal Sun nearly every day after a very long, heavy duty, and exhausting heavy equipment and hard laboring work day for me. I find great satisfaction with the benefits I receive that better my overall health and wellness at Cal Sun, so you can imagine that heart sinking feeling I felt after a day like my day was today.. but I should not have had to bring that to this employee's attention or fight for my case for why I felt I should be able to be accepted for even one service tonight. In the service industry, the Customer is always a right... if you deny services because you don't want to do your job, you should be let go so you don't have to work at a place you clearly don't want to work at. There are plenty of other people who are up to the tasks and they do them well. I've never had anyone refuse services to me while inside the building... what a waste of my time. I don't plan on returning to this location again and I feel it is necessary for management to understand how poorly their employee behaved. I have my United States Army PT on for crying out loud. Love coming here. Im always greeted with a smile and by my name! The employees here are always so friendly and hopeful even when they understaffed. I do think the head of management needs to do a better job of having their employees bsck when custoners are down right riude and beligerant to their employees. The customer is not always right. The employee should not be belittled by any customer for enforcing a policy or for making a mistake. customer wants to have a tantrum because they didnt get what they wanted should be giving a warning and if threaten an employee they should be banned. I have witnessed down horrible behavior from these customer's. You should want to keep your employees not just your customer's. There is a very high turnover rate for your company, so I think its something that needs to be looked into. There's video camera's you should be able to tell who the BAD customer's are. read more

Started an ambassador membership in March. Today my account was charged $102. Not the normal monthly fee. I called corporate who states there is an annual fee which is charged to help with equipment. 1. I was never made aware of this charge when I signed up. 2. Equipment. The Antelope location infared lights on the trimpod have not been working now for 2 months. 3. There are beds, and other equipment at nearby locations which do not exist at the Antelope location. I will be looking at other companies for my tanning needs. read more

I always have such a pleasant experience here. I've just been tanning for about a year and knew very little. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and helps me choose the best products and processes to build my tan slowly without damaging my fair, sensitive skin. My visits here are often the most relaxing part of my day. Love the red light therapy followed by some tanning and maybe the occasional sunless tan for instant gratification. The store is always clean and I've never experienced the towel issue mentioned in some other reviews so I can only assume it's been resolved. Tell them I wasn't in the salon for over 3 months, yet they show usage on my bogus account, so clearly someone is signing people in on my account. Beware of the fraudulent activity. I HATE bad service.I would give a 0 star but yelp doesn't offer. So I go in for a versa and have a free sunless tan card I picked up awhile back.... I go to use and wait 15 minutes cause the front staff doesn't know how to use. They call corporate and Kelsey from customer care says I can't use and it was a special offer mind you the card has NO expiration date.I told Kelsey it had no date on it and they should be able to honor as this is FALSE advertisement. Kelsey tells me I can't use because the system has no way of inputting (BS- they could notate and override) and she said their is nothing she can do about it. I tell you what.... After $25 dollars a month for 10 years of paying and not even a compromise I'll NEVER be back and will CANCEL my membership. Kelsey in customer care should be FIRED for 0 effort of compromise to a loyal customer. To top it off she had an attitude after I said I would review this situation. Apparently she has no idea how YELP ELITE keeps up with reviews in the community and how our voice will be heard through social media as well as my word of mouth..... I attached the card that I presented and they would not honor. DO ME A FAVOR AND DON'T TAN HERE. Worst Customer Service and they don't honor their own deals. I feel like I bombard these girls with questions every single visit. The girls are so knowledgable and if they don't have the answer right away they manage to find it. I've come to this location regularly for the past 4 years or so and I prefer this salon over the other ones. Even though some of the other salons have more options for beds, the customer service here always has me impressed. While I have noticed a high turnover rate with employees, even when the girls are new I am still pleased with my service. Always greeted, walked to my room, and thanked when I leave. They also don't pressure me too much to buy even though I know they get commission to do so. One thing I wish they had was a better mirror in the spray tan room like the Roseville parkway location-as well as trash cans. I have the highest package called the ambassadors club and it allows me to do any bed including the spray tans, gives discounts, bring a friend free, and even $20 spending money for each month. I went in today, said I needed to tan and get rid of tan lines for a wedding Labor Day weekend... Marina (I believe was her name) was the friendliest and most honest tanning salon employee I've ever come across. She was honest, and told me about every option with the beds, tanning lotions and the different deals. She always had a smile on, and didn't get annoyed by my constant questions. She also warned me, I will be offered to upgrade at every visit, it's just part of the job. Like many jobs in the sales industry. The pricing/cancellation policy is very clear when you first sign up, and you do have to read and sign a contract about it. I actually think its pretty fair, and if you want to put your account on hold, you pay a small fee per month, then when you are ready to start tanning again, you get that money back toward your next month. The staff is friendly, the place is very nice and much cleaner than most tanning salons. And I LOVE that you can go to any location, and they have so many. read more

Every time it takes forever to get checked in, I had an issue when I reactivated my acct after 3 years and the girl didn't update or ask if I had new bank information, they attempted to charge my acct which I also was not told about a prorated amount either ... they wanted to charge me $10 for the transaction failing ... Not my mistake and no not paying for a mistake I didn't create ... after 10 min it was finally resolved but it's always something .... great beds, horrible service. read more

Tonight is my first time at this location, as I have just moved and I am not impressed at all. I waited for about 5 min for another girl to come up since the other girl was helping another customer. No hi or anything from either girls. I was talking to another customer in the store that was annoyed with one of employees as I was too. The customer and I began bantering. I had said I wasn't impressed to the customer, the employee heard me and had asked why. I told her no one greeted me, she argued with me, saying she did say hi. She then said "I say hi to all my customers." I spend $70 a month here, a simple hi isn't that difficult. I will continue going back to the fair oaks location and just make the drive. read more

I recently stopped by this location to set up tanning for my wife as a gift, I knew nothing about what I was looking for. Luckily there was a young man working that said he was new there but would do the best to help me find what I needed. Anything he wasn't sure of he found out for me and made it an easy experience. The place was clean and had a spa feeling to it. My wife just went and said she enjoyed it very much, next is a spray tan she says. I'm not sure but they may have created a monster, but at least I know she's in good hands! read more

Stopped in on Friday night on my way home. Was super lucky to run into Janelle, I think she manages a few different branches. I see her from time to time at the one near my home, near my work and the one near my yoga studio. I love when I see her, she has a big infectious smile! She always seems happy and it is contagious. Like all other tanning studios they keep in clean and you have to endure the hard upsell of the latest lotions before you can relax in your bed but with Janelle, I hardly notice and sometimes buy, she just makes it so dang fun! I wish there were more options for tanning salons in the Sacramento area. Seems that California Sun Centers are the only ones with more than one location which makes it convenient for finding a spot to fit in a quick tan during the day depending on where I am. I don't terribly hate this place. It's very clean, sanitary, and some locations are indeed very beautiful facilities! I like how they have membership plans and easy ways to upgrade. What I strongly dislike about this place is the way the employees try to "up sell" everything to the point were not you want to punch them in the face. I know that's harsh but it's so true. One day I went in to tan with no desire to purchase a lotion. I had already been convinced a week before to buy a Jwow bottle which cost me $80. When I was giving the associate my name she looked at my bottle then at me and said, "That's not a good lotion if you're trying to get tan." Oh, jeez thanks? I just purchased this a week ago and was sworn to by another associate that this was the BEST tanning lotion on the market. "If you want to get the best out of your tan I suggest Black Noir." I was a little setback since I had just purchased the Jwow lotion which seemed just fine to me. I begin to tell her that I wasn't interested and that I had just bought the Jwow lotion a week ago. She ignored my response and began to rub a sample of the other lotion on my hand. She made me smell it and asked me why I couldn't purchase it. Why would that be any of her business and wayyy to put me on the spot! I would understand this pushiness from a car sales man but not a teenage girl trying to sell me lotion! But needless to say, she got me. She explained how this lotion as opposed to the lotion I had would not allow me to tan any darker and that I basically was tanning for no reason. She explained how Black Noir was the #1 lotion on the market and I would be so tan I wouldn't regret it. I was being convinced and like the sucker I am, I bought a pricey $100 dollar bottle. Once I had escaped into my tanning room I thought about how dumb I was for allowing someone to convince me to buy another lotion after I had already politely said, "No." The lotion wasn't anything amazing. It had the same result as my other one. The next day I came back and it was a different girl. She too asked me what lotion I was using. Proudly I said, "Black Noir!" She looked at me and said, "Oh no. That one sucks! You need to buy this one!" And she too began showing me another lotion. I was extremely frustrated at this point. I get they have to make sales. But come on. Please don't ever make a customer feel stupid for buying something they just bought. I told her "No thanks." She got quite and wasn't so friendly anymore. Cal Sun: We go to tan to relax just as much as they go to get darker. So please stop hassling us to buy lotions, check out the "cute new" clothes, and upgrade to "better" beds. Worst place ever! Don't get me wrong the girls in the stores are nice at least most of them for the week or two the have a job! The owners are nuts and have cameras to watch the workers and they wont cancel your account until you practically take them to court and charge your account a few times. All the people in the headquarters office have nasty attitudes with the worst customer service possible! I even knew someone that worked in their business office and left to go work for the GAP stores and also said that was the worst job she EVER had a woman in her 40's at that says a lot about them! Oh. My. God. Cal. Sun. They are seriously the worst. I used to manage here 6+ years ago and if thought they were petty then, smh they've gotten worse. This company is obsessed with forcing their employees to not take care of their customers. Tonight I came in 30 mins before closing and told the girl Esther that I wanted to tan and then spray. There was a 12 min wait for the scoop bed I was looking to do and so I placed in line for it. While I waited she offered for me to use the massage chair that's included in my $70 a month membership. I figured that was a nice suggestion, did that for 10 mins came out and tried a dress on (which I planned to buy after my tan.) she then processes me in the bed I was waiting for, and after I get out of the bed I spray on the prep spray for my spray tan and come out and they refuse to let me spray because they already "broke" down the machine. I'm sorry but when I used to manage here I remember nightly I was staying as late as I needed too in order to make sure each guest was fully taken care of. She started blaming me that it was my fault because I waited for the bed I preferred to tan in, and I'm sorry but I let her know the moment I went in that I wanted to tan and spray so perhaps she should have suggested for me to pick something else because if my "tanning time" went after the closing time, I would be refused the remainder of my service. RIDICULOUS to blame the customer Esther. You know your companies crazy rules and you should be updating your customers because they're ALWAYS changing. Smh. Then I go to buy a $40 dress and wanted to use the $20 credit on my account and she said he Credit was used on my birthday May 2nd...and I was in San Diego! What the hell CalSun. You are constantly doing everything to drive your customers out of the store. The consultant then called her district manager on "my behalf" but heard her in the break room blatantly not being my advocate. I work 12 hour shifts the next few days and took time away from family to use a service I pay a lot of money for and not only had the door slammed in my face but money stolen off my account. I love this location. I went in knowing nothing about indoor tanning and the girl, wish I got her name, told me everything I needed to know. Got the California Club package, a natural bronzer and a tan extender. The inside of this salon is gorgeous, although I found one that is closer to me that I will probably go to, unless it's not as nice on the inside. The atmosphere in there was so relaxing and I didn't feel pushed to get anything or upgrade anything. I haven't gone to tan yet, but my friend goes here and says the beds are always clean and she's never had a problem. So excited to get my tan on :) read more
