The fish was light and flakey and the fries were standard fair, nothing to get excited about, however passable for most. I got a better look at the inside too, plenty of tables with satisfied looking customers. The staff was pretty much the same as far as enthusiasm, or lack thereof...I would not say they were rude, but they certainly weren't "friendly". On one hand I know that the English preparation is a heavy batter. I'm okay with that. But this batter was borderline soggy. No crisp to it whatsoever and the fish inside was completely lost to the breading. Which was honestly too bad because the fish itself was nice and flaky. Do I recommend Ye Olde Fish and Chips? Sure. Customers seemed to stare as if we had twenty heads, but the owner didn't act that way. But that's the reason why it lost one star I felt very uncomfortable and out of place. And as much as I loved it on the inside I doubt I would go inside to eat after that weird feeling.
