This inspection at no cost while being friendly and even helpful enough to give me the name of another business that could take care of my problem since it was not their area of expertise. I brought my daughter's 2006 MDX in after the transmission/transaxle failed. Brett was very knowledgeable and explained clearly what I could expect and the intricacies of the Acura transmission. The vehicle had an oil leak going in, which his mechanics identified during the inspection. We added a Rear Main Engine Seal to the job and I happily left it. I had called around for estimates from Aamco, Monroe Transmissions in Auburn and a few other shops. Brett's pricing was equivalent but he did not charge any labor for the rear main seal replacement, since, as he said, "we're already right there". He only charged me for the seal itself, which was $8 dollars! It took a couple of days. When I went to pick it up, it was clean with no greasy fingerprints anywhere. He told me that it might shift a little funny at first, but as I put a few miles on it, the computer would "learn" the transmission and everything would smooth out. It did shift oddly on the drive home but after a few days, it was shifting smoothly and firmly, as when new. Then, I noticed a few drops of oil on the driveway. I called Brett and he said to bring it in and they'd take a look. He kept it overnight since I had to drop it off after work. The next afternoon, he called and said it was ready, and that it was a "sensor" that was the source. A sensor they didn't even touch. I went in expecting to have to pay a labor charge since it was nothing that they caused, but he only charged me for the new sensor, and that was all! Since then, not a drop on my driveway and the MDX drives like new! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND California Transmissions!!!! The service was excellent, the communication was excellent and the pricing was VERY fair, especially considering the rear main seal replacement and the sensor replacement. Able to see my car quickly. Not a great price. The car ended up making a ton of horrific noises after the transmission replacement. They couldn't fix it, and told me my ball joints were worn. My regular car shop replaced the ball joints which were worn, but not the source of the noise. My normal shop managed to get it to stop. The subframe was not tightened down as it should have been. Th shop manager was a very nice fellow and the transmission works great, so a star for each of those points. read more

This is from a few months ago. They didn't do any work on my car, but that's actually a good thing. My Jeep had been having stalling and horsepower issues. The third mechanic we took it to said "Oh, it definitely needs a new transmission," and referred us to California Transmission. Upon taking the Jeep here, the fine gentleman at the front said my car's problems didn't sound transmission related. Sure enough, another mechanic who we took it to afterwards fixed everything and it was an ENGINE problem, the transmission was in tip-top shape. California Transmission could've easily taken my money and rebuilt my transmission knowing it was unnecessary, but they didn't, and I'm grateful for that. I was referred to California Transmissions via my normal mechanic (Scotty's - amazing, go there) due to an error that Scotty's couldn't fix. California Transmissions checked out the code, but couldn't get my truck to duplicate the problems I was having. Their suggestion was that I drive around for a while and see if the problem started up again, in order to avoid buying a $600 part I might not need. To add to this, they didn't charge me a dime for their time! After a few weeks, my truck was exhibiting the problem (getting locked into 3rd gear, which turned out to be a solenoid issue) constantly. I took it in on Monday morning. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and had my truck ready to go Tuesday afternoon. Added to it, Vance hung around after closing, since I was running late. The transmission recently died on my 2003 Toyota Avalon. Sadly, the car only has 98k on it. When I took it into California Transmissions here in Rocklin, I was hoping it would be some small issue. Turns out the transmission needed to be entirely rebuilt. The next day, while we were contemplating how we were going to come up with $3,000 for the job, the manager of CA Transmissions, Gene, called me. He explained that he felt terrible that the trans. had gone bad so early in the life of the car (apparently he's never seen one die this early, normally around 275k), and he had done some research and found a transmission that he would install for only $1,600. We dropped off my son's truck to have it diagnosed for an intermittent problem that was hard to pin down by another repair shop. About 18 months after my transmission repair, the transmission finally went out. I debated repairing it in an '03 Explorer, as the cost to rebuild it was about what the vehicle was worth. But, I have two new drivers at home and this was a good vehicle for them, so I had Vance and crew at CA Transmissions go to work on it. About three days later, the Explorer was ready and it ran very well. Approximately 16 months later, while pulling a trailer up to Truckee, I noticed the transmission was slipping a little. After parking to unload the trailer, I found that I couldn't put the selector into Reverse. I kept trying, and it finally went into Reverse, but things didn't feel right. It worked fine in Drive, but after going in reverse once, I could not get the car to move in reverse. I could put it in Neutral and push it backwards. So, back to CA Transmissions, as I had an 18 month warranty. Vance took my Explorer in and called me back later that day. They scheduled a warranty repair, which would take approximately five days, and was completely covered. When I picked up the Explorer, it ran perfectly. My nephew is still driving that Explorer more than a year later, with zero transmission problems. CA Transmissions has honest people, they accurately diagnosis transmission problems, repairs are provided at reasonable rates and they stand behind every service provided. This is the only place I'll take my cars for transmission work, and I highly recommend Vance and CA Transmissions! read more

Gene and Crystal were so helpful in making the appropriate communication with our warranty company. I was thankful that they had experience working with the warranty company.
