My friend has been craving a dog for about two months now. Typically this type of food wouldn't be my first choice but I wanted to surprise him ;) I saw that Joe's specialized in unique sausages so I got pretty excited! We walked into Joes, couldn't find anywhere to sit so we headed to the back patio. Didn't get a menu or anything so I was a bit confused but luckily I had already looked at the menu on Yelp and knew what I wanted. Placed the order and it didn't take too long to come out. I ordered the duck sausage and he ordered a Chicago dog. Sadly, we couldn't even eat the food because the bread was so hard and stale tasting! It was a brick! We both just took out the meat in the bread and ate that but what the heck? :( I don't think that is how the bread is supposed to be and I don't see any other reviews talking about it. We popped in here on a Friday night with about 40 people. If you're looking for a quite dinner late on Friday, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking lots of energy and a great vibe, you struck gold. There was a DJ playing, I think it was DJ Larry, and he was playing some great, hip, dance music. They don't have a dance floor, so we just made our own! The bartenders, Summer and Lynette were fast and made great drinks.We had a blast. I've been here a couple of times now, and I'd definitely say I like it. I've only tried the vegetarian flat bread type pizza which was pretty good. As a vegetarian, there aren't many items to choose from, so I usually just stick to beer. The first time I came with a friend who was quite a few beers deep and loved to harass the poor server, Caleb. Caleb was very nice and didn't even seem to mind. He was fast bringing us beers and the pizza (granted it was about 3pm, so we were pretty much the only people there). Overall I'd say it's a nice place to hang out, and they usually have Bootlegger's Palomino on tap which is a big plus for me. read more

First off, I'm reviewing this spot as a bar and not as a restaurant. I went here on a fri night with a friend who was attending her cousin's birthday. The place was really crowded with only standing room right by the door. The place has nice decor and is fairly new to my understanding. There was a DJ playing typical club hits and there was your average "bar vibe" happening inside. I gave this place 2 stars because there were only 2 women working the bar and one guy who pretty much passed us by repeatedly for half an hour. The one brunette was bringing her friends drinks and only helping men. By the time we got our shots 15 min laters, we drank them and left. The atmosphere is "meat market" and by meat I mean beefy 30+ guys wearing Infliction clothing and axe body spray. Most of the women looked late 30's and up. The patio is all the way in the back and the layout of the bar means you have to wind your way through a horde of slick haired guys to get there. I would maybe go back on a weekday or as a last resort, but I wouldn't go here if I wanted to have a good time. read more

I've been to Joe's before and usually no problem with good food and great service. Sadly, today the service was extremely slow and the food was not good. Our male waiter seemed more interested in talking to a group of female patrons than helping my family. Potatoes with my breakfast were still raw. Took awhile to get servers attention. They eventually ordered more potatoes for me. The problem was it took so long to get them, I was done eating by the time they arrived (at least 10 minutes). Great environment, the food was great. I got the sliders and it was awesome. There was a good choice of taps, nothing outrageous. The only reason i didn't give 4 stars is the smell. Really cool bar. The Waitress was friendly and so was the atmosphere. Honestly I came here for one thing, their sausages. I tried the alligator, wild boar, and the rattlesnake and rabbit sausages. They were all good and flavorful in their own way. The wild boar was good, it actually tasted like a normal sausage. Probably because of it relation to pork. The alligator was a little different though, the sauce they used had a little kick to is as did the meat. It was also a little more thick than the other ones (obviously). These guys are absolutely great! We called about 15 minutes before they closed on a Monday night asking what time they close. Well the response I got on the phone was "Come down. We will wait for you." Absolutely awesome people! When we walked in there were only a few people sitting at the bar and all the workers were slowly closing down everything. We quickly ordered the Rattlesnack and Rabbit Sausage with 1/2 Regular Fries and 1/2 Sweet Potatoe Fries. The plate was COVERED in fries! The sausage was quite tasty as well. Definitely not what I was expecting but still tasted quite nice. Deep Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich for dessert! MMMMM!!! Total fatkid food but so great! They make it quite big too so this is definitely something to share. Overall food was pretty good but where they really excelled was their super friendly service! We just stopped in Joe's for a quick beer. We ended up ordering some onions rings; for $3 you get a pretty large serving and they were ready within minutes. They were beer battered onion rings which I usually don't like as much as the breaded kind but the onions were cook perfectly and were less greasy then normal for this style. Joe's has a few craft beer options and appeared to have a full bar. I've been in here before when it was busy and didn't end up staying because it is a soooo super loud. I would suggest going when it's not busy to avoid a night club like atmosphere. read more

My son and I came here and i tried the rabbit and snake sausage and it wasnt good or bad. I would definilty not order it again tough. The fries where the worst fries ever, i dont know if they where cooked twice or too long but it was like trying to eat cardboard. My son got a pepperoni pizza and i also ate some of it. Letting you know up front Joe's is only getting a 4 purely based on ambiance and staff, if it weren't for how amazing the atmosphere and all the employees were it would only be getting 3 stars. My boyfriend and I decided to share plates as to try multiple dishes. We ordered the "woody", a huge corn dog, and their bratwurst with onion rings. The corn was much more meat then I was expecting and I personally prefer corn dogs with more batter, the corn dog had a super thin coating. It tasted okay, good meat and a little overly sweet batter for my taste. The "woody" came with their shoestring fries, super thin fries, which were pretty good, crispy, but nothing special. The bratwurst had good flavor and was topped with whatever toppings. We got this dish with onion rings, which I will openly admit, were pretty good. In my opinion the best thing we tried there. They were well battered, good flavor, and tender. The sodas at this place are HUGE, all I can say. We were planning to try one of their many fried desserts, but sadly did not have room, we may have to return sometime for them. The place itself is clean, much larger than it seems, and has a unique set up. I loved the decor, atmosphere and design. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. read more

Went her for brunch with the family. We had a good time and it wasn't to busy. The service was excellent. We had brunch because the my fiancé wanted unlimited mimosas. They did a great job keeping glasses full. The steak and eggs gets a 6/10 for me. Steak, eggs and English muffin were delicious. The potato's were way to salty for me to eat. I had the Bloody Mary and it gets a 8/10. The menu has been updated and snake and eggs is no longer. Go for brunch you won't be disappointed. read more

I have been coming Joe's for years and a while back ago all the servers that I use to love disappeared. It was definately different to get use to the new staff because the vibe changed at Joe's on Thursday BINGO nights, BUT the replacements were Leanna and Nicole. These girls are amazing bartenders /servers! They make every Thursday night and random nights I pop up fun and they genuinely remember our conversations week after week and make me feel like Joe's family. I love their Thursday Night Bingo Games with Donny Casino! My friends have been going on Thursday nights for months but I hadn't had a chance to go with them until just recently. I really liked how friendly the servers & Donny Casino were, everyone felt like they knew each other & were very welcoming to me and the other guests who were first timers! While I played Bingo, I ordered their chicken nuggets & tater tots--both were delicious! The tater tots are sprinkled with parmesan cheese for added flavor. My meal & Diet Coke were served in huge portions so they can definitely be split by two people. I can't wait to go back to Joes next Thursday night! read more

This is a shout out to Debbie the bartender who obviously doesn't enjoy working at Joe's. We had to FLAG her down to get us a drink. She was too busy dancing and talking to her coworkers. We asked for drinks including a lemon drop which tasted like club soda and water. We asked politely to see if she could make us another drink cause the drink she made us was not what we asked for. She refused and had the rudest attitude. Luckily another bartender saw what was happening and jumped in to help out. This was the first and will be the last time visiting this establishment. The dude with the cool mustache is a better bartender. This is a place for weenies (the food type, smartie) and beer and fries. Other non-sausagie/fried items, try at your own risk. i was excited to try this place because one of my favorite places in Chicago serves unique varieties of sausage. However, I never got to try anything. We walked in and we decided to sit outside on the patio. We noticed that nobody was around the patio, so my friend went inside to inquire about whether it was okay for us to sit out there. Some employee grunted and said that the waiters wander around, and 'eventually' they would make their way to us. Ten minutes later, nobody approached us -- no menu, no water, no hello. It was an unexpected surprise to move on to this place. Its a smart location that feeds off from the overflowing sport bar surrounding it , and that's how my buddy and I ended up at this place. The food portions were big and delicious. Now I'm taking 1 star off for the screw up on my order plus the service was a bit slow. I ordered the Chicken Drums but I was served a chicken club sandwich. I'm not one to complain about such things unless I really don't like it, but I took a bite out of that sandwich and I was blown away. I met up with my buddy here for a late dinner the other day and we went with Lido's Goat cheese-stuffed Italian and he went with the traditional German Bratwurst. We figured we would try the more exotic ones in the future (as long as these basic ones were good). We also shared the breakfast pizza because 1) we were really hungry and we didn't think we'd be full with one sausage and 2) it came up in a lot of reviews. The pizza came out first and we immediately dove in. We both thought it was decent. Nothing spectacular, but good enough to leave you somewhat content. My Italian sausage was better. I really liked the oozing goat cheese and the toppings were all good. Is it worth $10? Eh. It wasn't busy that night, so we had a relaxing time. My husband and I came here on a quiet Saturday afternoon with our 18 month old daughter. Like, a REALLY quiet Saturday afternoon...there was literally 1 other person in the place. Which was actually kind of nice... First, the service was really great. Our waitress was super nice and friendly, and the bartender (dude with red hair and gnarly handlebar stache!) even came over to see if it was our first time and if we liked it, and said that if we didn't get dessert this time (which we didn't-we were too full!) to definitely come back and try some and even told us ways to order dessert that wasn't on the menu. He even checked to make sure our daughter was happy and if she was enjoying her mini hot dogs. I had the Italian sausage with goat cheese-so good! I couldn't taste the goat cheese as much as I would have liked, but I could taste it in there and it was really good. My husband had the grilled catfish and that was good too. And all the sides were great! Fries with my sausage, and grilled zucchini (really, really good!) and coleslaw came with the fish. A great experience and really great food. We'll have to come back for some fried PB&J and some more "exotic" sausage. read more

Went here on Wednesday night with some friends. Sat in the dining area in the back, which we had to ourselves, although there were people sitting at the bar. Waitress said dining area gets crowded late at night (we got there around 6) and on the weekends. I had the wild boar andouille sausage with onion rings. Wild boar was very flavorful without being too gamey. The beer battered onion rings were excellent, didn't fall apart when you took a bite. Tried a bite of goat cheese italian sausage, goat cheese gave it a little tang but not overpowering. Also tried a bite of the rattlesnake & rabbit sausage, which I also enjoyed. Other people had the homewrecker and a regular hot dog, sweet potato fries and shoestring fries (which come standard with the meal, onion rings or sweet potato fries are $1 extra). I had a dark German beer that was really good, but don't remember the name. For dessert, I had the deep fried PB&J. OMG! This was awesome. Everybody went crazy over this one. Topped with some strawberry jam and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Others had the deep fried snickers and deep fried fat-boy, which were both okay. They were out of fried apple pie or we would have tried that one too. Great time was had by all. Only downside was their photo booth wasn't working and the waitress didn't know how to fix it. read more

I love how they have the different sausages. I have tried almost everything here. I recommend the aligator sausage, chicken jalepeno sausage, and burgers. The fries are pretty good too. Service is good, atmosphere is pretty bad though. So the only reason why I do not give it a 5 star is because of the place itself. It is too small and sometimes smelly. The snake/rabbit sausage was the best one out of em all. I got the combo which had 3 different types and that was def my favorite. You get to choose your sides, I opted for onion rings for a dollar more. They were really good as well, they give you A LOT of it. I also tried their PB and J dessert made w waffles and wasn't much of a fan. Way too much fried food in one sitting. The waffles were too thick and too dry, Needed more ice cream. I can't believe it took me this long to review Joe's. This is absolutely my favorite bar/hangout in Fullerton. Their portions are huge, sausages and fries are perfect for your gastropub needs, and their service is the bomb. Joe's is just a really laid-back place to go and hang out on any given day (day or night). If you go when it's less busy, you'll find that their servers are so sweet and amicable - and they'll suggest off-menu concoctions that they brew up that are delicious (and sometimes end up on the menu like the breakfast pizza). Only downside is that the later into the night it becomes, the more crowded it gets, and the servers come around less and less, since they often bartend, too. Just make sure you get their attention when they pass by and all is dandy. Shout out to Chris, who is the bombskila and most chill server there. read more

I went along with a group to check this place out. I walked all the way to the back and found a nice outdoor area. On a Friday night, this place was lacking some sort of appeal. This review is only for weekend bar life. I have been here on a saturday and a friday and both times were pretty similar. This place is in the SOCO district which is more relaxed than the main DTF where everyone dresses up and bars get to charge a cover fee. This place is more for people in their mid twenties and up who doesn't need to get all dressed up just for a night of drinking. No problems getting in and the bouncers are nice. the well drinks cost about $7 and are strong , shots are about the same price. However, beer is $10 and you get a really big glass maybe it can fit 2.5 glasses. They play pop music, there's a piano there and a dance floor. Came here a few weeks back for a friends birthday, and I have to say I'm impressed. For the most part I can't stand hanging out in Downtown Fullerton (for various resaons) but since it was close, and there was a variety, we ended up there. Wound up going to Joe's, and I have to say we actually enjoyed it. Food was decent, pirces were decent, and the beer list is awesome. I have a thing for Kostritzer (German Black Beer) and they've got it on tap. I've never been ANYWHERE that had THAT beer on tap. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't mind coming back here sometime soon and having a 'gator sausage and a couple cold ones. read more

I have to give a serious shout-out to Joe's for being super cool and welcoming to a horde of 60+ zombies last night! I was with a crowd organized from www.zombiepubcrawls.com and Joe's was our last stop in Downtown Fullerton, and the planned location for food. They went ALL OUT for us, even putting fake eyeballs and fingers in our drinks and on our plates! Makes a zombie feel right at home! Being a vegetarian (very few options on the menu, all of them deep-fried) I thought I would leave feeling limited, left-out, and hungry, but the atmosphere and the staff made sure it was a great time! (AND, the fried pickles, shoestring fries, and deep-fried PB&J are DELICIOUS!) If the folks at Joe's are willing to go the extra mile for a huge group of drunken zombies, think what that says for how they treat their regular customers. Thanks, Joe's! We'll be back! read more

Same owner as Roscoes and Hero's which means same fantastic forumula for success but totally UNIQUE to anything you will find anywhere near fullerton. The waitress was fantastic and even comped an item that didn't turn out perfectly...........although my rattlesnake sausage was fantastic. What I really want to come back for is the deep fried PB&J sandwhich with icecream, berries, and chocolate sauce. I try to eat heathy, so I won't be coming here often and that isn't really the point. IN fact, I think the menu even has some wise crack about not serving anything healthy. For me it's a cool novelty place that I will frequent when I have friends visting my town of Fullerton. It's just a great place to bring people. The style, design, menu, service, and decor is all a great conversation piece. I'm a fan!!!! I came here last night for the End of the Season Kickball Party!! Wahoo good times! So I have never been here so I didn't know what to expect. Their menu is a bit different...they serve ostrich, snake, fried P&J sammy, ummm yeah the list goes on. So I decided to go with something different and ordered the Sliders. Yeah I know...booorrrring! But they were scrumptious!! I would have to say they might have been the best sliders I have ever had! The shoe string FF are addicting! Beware!! haha I was so full...but since I was drinking...these FF's make for a good munch! Love the relaxed, unpretentious vibe to this place. Friendly staff, great service, and attractive waitresses. I had a great, larger, tasty cheeseburger with bacon on it plus a good side salad. Plus good margaritas and had a great Lagunitas Manta Ray on tap. It was hot on Saturday and cooled down with a tall Ice Tea. The place is lively, and busy at night but I love seeing friends and spending a leisurely day there. Many choices, tasty food, and good portions there. I have only had great meals at this restaurant.
