In another country at the time: Wayne T. I. Ordering Everyone ordered the chorizo burger (($12) - 50/50 blend of homemade chorizo and ground beef, two fried eggs, imported Spanish ham, Pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo on a potato roll. Served with shoestring fries on the side. II. The burgers Burgers were pretty dry. They need more sauce or juice or moisture. It reminded us of the dryness of Slater's 50/50 patty. I think it's just what happens when you have a blended patty. The bun was good. We did not like the lettuce; it really diluted the burger. I think it was supposed to be on the potato roll, but it was served on an onion bun, which wasn't bad. There was also supposed to be ham, but I don't think I saw or tasted any. III. The fries/sides Fries were good. Nice and crunchy, thin. They were your classic shoe strings. They weren't seasoned so it was good that they came with ranch. IV. Miscellaneous They had the same chillness as Heroes, which makes sense because they're owned by the same people. IT was more of a bar and less restaurant and so had a lot of tvs and played game audio. They also had really great service. V. Value I ask the members how much they would pay for the burger they ate. We would pay anywhere between $3.50 to $8. So overpriced in our book, especially for what we got. VI. The verdict The ratings: 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, and 2.6. Just left a similar review for Roscoe's. We ended up at Joe's after getting turned away there too so let me explain... A friend and I ubered downtown for a kid free ladies night out. Ate at a late night dinner at a restaurant and then decided to go check out some other spots for a drink. Mind you I had a HUGE dinner so took the leftovers with me (shit cost enough and there was enough there for 3 more meals so best bet I took it with me!) Since we ubered we clearly did not have a car to put it into so I made sure it was boxed and bagged up for walking around. Also keep in mind my friend and I are 37, aka not obnoxious youngsters stumbling around, we are educated professional women looking for a kid free night to catch up with one another. After discovering we couldn't take leftovers into Roscoes (boxed up and in a tied bag!) we decided to go into Joes so they could get our business and were greeted with the same awkward response from the security guard that we couldn't take it in. Look, if I had brought a car I'd put it there, and clearly as a female I'm not leaving anything of mine unattended ever and also not leaving it somewhere to get snatched up by a homeless person. We didn't get a reason this time other than it was policy. Look, they're tied up in a bag and leftovers, I'm not eating them! And if I would have had a purse instead of a clutch, no one would have even known I had them. I get businesses not wanting to "lose money" from people bringing in outside food and not eating theirs, but you lost business of us buying drinks last night and all my business going forward. If this is your policy for lord knows what reason, then you (and the other establishments) should have a sign out front explaining it so your security guards don't have to awkwardly say something AFTER the fact. Either way Joes (and some others) apparently had this "policy" (meaning we couldn't even get a freakin drink in Fullerton so we ubered back home where bars could care less about your fried chicken in a box and happily had many drinks) and have now subsequently lost my business period (which I'm sure they could care less about, I'm not here tooting my own horn). Just heads up to any others out there who may want to eat late somewhere else and then enjoy some drinks after - don't carry your leftovers with you or carry a big purse! Lots of TVs, small inside with very cool wall decor; love the front end of the Chevy truck at the front, that's what drew us to come in in the first place. I rarely ever get this upset but I'm upset, pissed, livid. The bouncers tonight on Thursday night did not handle themselves well even if they were composed. They don't know how to communicate with deaf people, they decide to pick on hearing people to interpret for deaf people. I walked in tonight once and it was fine til I left after a few minutes and then I came back. I came back with a random can of alcohol they didn't want. They didn't see it til I was inside and they saw that it was from another bar. I gave up the beer of course for them to take away and throw. They didn't say I had to leave. That wasn't for another five minutes, then the bouncer did his whole "flashlight motion" thing, get out of here. You're done for the night. Meanwhile, my friend who was with me was shit faced, she was stumbling, and she was allowed to stay in. Doesn't make sense that they'd kick me out for a minor mistake. Maybe you guys should focus more on the people shooting heroin in the bathroom. Anyways, when he led me outside, he wanted to talk with me with these two other "interpreting students". He spoke to their faces directly not me and I asked why did I have to leave? After only five minutes. He said I appeared too drunk when I was only on my second drink in three four hours. I didn't get it then the interpreter told me this. word for word "that the manager had a lot of altercations with deaf people in the past and he just wanted the deaf people out quickly as possible even if there's a small problem." I'm like that's fucking discrimination. I was so upset. I just wanted to leave. I'm never coming back again. This place discriminates people with disabilities including our deafness. So if you're not deaf or anything like that, you're pretty much welcome here. Even if they have ASL nights, they definitely keep a closer eye on the deaf people because the bouncers and the management don't like them around. No respect to the deaf at all either. read more

I had Joe's bookmarked on Yelp for over a year. You can imagine my excitement when a window of time opened up for the boyfriend to bring me here for breakfast. I love things that are unique and different, so I was stoked to finally be able to order the Rattlesnake Eggs and Rabbit Sausage! (Insert brakes screeching or a record player needle scratching the album). The owner Joe, whom is an absolute sweetheart, mentioned it's no longer offered on their menu. Understandably, the snake was ordered in excess and from a state far away, and it then became useless to keep it up. All good. I found plenty of other breakfast items to tease me. I settled for their Breakfast Tacos and my man selected the Huevos Rancheros. Both were so darn tasty and reasonably priced! The coffee was also real flavorful and they offer regular or French Vanilla creamer. The bar is decorated so cute. I love all the signs, lighting, knick knacks, and more. I didn't take a star off for the single women's bathroom stall! That has got to be a PIA on a weekend night. Furthermore, and pardon the TMI, but a mini trashcan in the corner of that stall would be nice for women during their monthly cycle! Yeah, now you all know my schedule, right?! Nothing like carrying that crap out of the stall and someone else looking at you oddly. Great little place in DTF. We went because the group Darden was playing that night and really enjoyed what we had for dinner. I had a fish, chicken and blackened shrimp taco and all 3 were delicious. My wife got the sliders off the starters menu and out came with 4 really nice sliders and tons of crispy shoestring fries. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Rattlesnake? Alligator? When I heard that owner, Jack Franklin, had recently opened a third restaurant in Downtown Fullerton featuring some pretty unique fare, I had to stop by. I've been a fan of this chain owner's restaurants ever since my first bite of the AMAZING nachos at Heroes Bar & Grill. A motorcycle ride to Chino years later for a show introduced me to his hearty sandwiches and classic sides at Roscoe's Deli (one of two locations). Franklin does it right, with HUGE portions and always a good beer menu. Now, literally next door to his other restaurants on this busy corner, Joe's held the potential for the trifecta. I came in on a quiet weekday evening with my husband, Steve. The mood was quiet and casual, with a Jazz singer in the dining room. I was slightly disappointed that all the "adventurous" food was in the form of sausages, but some other new items I wasn't expecting, like "fried junk" and "frito pie" made up for it. The menu even featured pairings for beer and sausage! We ordered the sausage trio: rattlesnake and rabbit, duck and bacon, and chicken and jalapeño and the frito pie. Despite the adventurous names, the sausage tasted like... well sausage. Nothing overly exciting, although the sauce they were served with complemented them well. The sauerkraut was VERY mild. If you're not a kraut fan, I would recommend it. The fries that came with them were sweet and crispy. The frito pie was good, although my husband thought the fritos were a little soggy from the toppings (I didn't mind). The beers were what a seasoned fan of the chain would expect, with a slightly smaller selection (We ordered a Shock Top Belgian White and Lost Coast's Tangerine Wheat). Overall, Joe's was good, but not at the top of the Franklin charts in my opinion. The service was slow considering the number of people there and the food was unique, but not exactly what I had hoped for. I'd recommend this one to people looking to try something different, but I'll stay a regular at Heroes. read more

About a month ago, went here with some friends late night after a show. It was pretty busy, as it normally is on the weekends, but that's not a big issue. I started a tab at the bar for my drinks, and when closing time came around, I went back to retrieve it. I ask the bartender for my tab and she goes back to look for it. About 15 minutes pass as I watch her shuffling through checks and the bar starts to empty. Ten minutes after that, with most patrons gone, another waitress walks up to me and explains they gave my card away to another person. Yes, that's right, they GAVE MY CREDIT CARD TO SOMEONE ELSE! Tired, and realizing that nothing I could say was going to bring my card back, I gave them my phone number and told them to call me if it was returned and resolved to cancel my current card. Two days later I received a call from them stating that they had gotten my card back. I said, "Great!" and headed on down to get it back. Upon arrival, I had my ID out ready to retrieve it, thinking that surely they would check it to make sure I was the right person getting the card, the bartender handed it to me with barely a glance and did not ask for identification at all. That was how we got into this mess the first time! It's not like it was busy when I went in to get the card. Is it so hard to ask that you make sure who you're giving these things to? Suffice it to say, if you value your money and identity, don't go here. Or pay in cash. read more

I figured that this wouldn't take long to prepare because it's just a freakin sausage and especially because it doesn't seem busy right now, right? Well, our order was brought to the wrong table and the server told us they would bring us a new plate. That was about 25 minutes ago and I'm sitting here staring into the kitchen looking at everyone else's orders go out except for mine. **Nightlife review -- not for food. Wanted to get out after 8 dormant months and see the old town last Friday night. A friend and I went downtown and hopped from one place to the next, never staying for more than one drink -- him double vodkas, me club sodas. So we walked into Joe's from the back entrance by Roscoe's and the alley behind The Continental in the SOCO District, and were immediately greeted by a bouncer. He was a genuinely kind bouncer (I think his name was Pauly?) -- he was a real gentleman and you could tell that he knew how to treat the customers of an establishment. I've been to the other Jack Franklyn establishments (Heroe's and Roscoe's) and Joe's by far had superior service and class, and even the clientele seemed a little more fun and chipper :) The bartender that helped us was a guy in white or black-rimmed glasses (can't remember), with a cool mustache. We sat here and relaxed and talked inside by the piano, then moved it outside in the back to get a good feel for the entire playground. Again, the clientele was not overly-drunk or acting a fool -- they were all there in their little groups -- having fun, laughing, drinking, smoking, etc... Meanwhile inside, by the bar, they were playing some good Funk (again not to be confused with Disco, and while the space seemed a little cramped, it was easy to escape to the back and have an entire area to ourselves. Will return during lunch hours to try some of the awesome sausage options here (that sounds sick, I know)... but their menu looks fantastic -- hoping the food lives up to it -- will return! read more

If you are famously known for a certain type of food, that does not excuse the rest of the menu to taste like crap. WE came here on a Sunday for lunch. It was not busy at all, yet It took the entire 4th quarter of the Laker game to bring out 2 dishes. Seemed like they were too concerned with what country/rock song and sports game to play on tv than cooking good food. The food we ate were: Fried catfish sandwich w/ a side of sweet potato fries - the fries tasted like it was fried in the same oil as the twinkies/ho-ho's/waffles. Cajun mahi-mahi w/ garlic bread, grilled zucchini, and sweet cole slaw. First off, why is the side of cole slaw 2 times bigger than the main entree? It was a mountain pile in the center of the plate!! The garlic bread was more like garlic crackers and the mahi mahi was over cooked, dried out, and lacked serious cajun seasoning! The menu says "healthy portions" - I guess that's why the cole slaw was gigantic compared to the mahi-mahi. If Joe's is known for their hot dogs, then just get the hot dogs. I came her with my girl friend during Halloween weekend at night. They have karaoke there along with a fun crowd. I got an Adios aka AMF and the lady who made it for me made is very weak. I saw her do her count too, and it was shit. I asked her to make me a new one and she poured a tad more of the liquor, but it still was really weak. My drink had so much ice and it was super blue = weak!!! This is one of my favorite drinks, but not that night. According to that "bartender," that's how they make it there... THEY NO LONGER HAVE THEIR CHALLENGE! What a huge disappointment. Food: Great selection of unique sausages for the adventurous, lovely selection of desserts for those who have never had the opportunity to have their sweets deep fried at a fair, full bar for the alcholics, and the standard pizzas, salads, tacos, and sandwiches. We came as a large party, so we sampled quite a bit of the menu. It is worth mentioning that all of our dishes came in very hearty portions whether it be the sausages or a piled-high burger, so be sure to come hungry or be prepared to take home leftovers. The memorable ones included the rattlesnake and rabbit which is eerily similar to chicken, the gigantic side of onion rings, and the fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich which tasted like...a churro slathered in peanut butter served with ice cream. Service: I hear it's rather normal to forfeit your credit card after ordering, but it made me uncomfortable (after reading a review of how a waitress gave away a person's card to the wrong person). Come the time for our bills, our waitress never came back to pick up my bill when I decided to pay in cash. Half an hour went by, and I decided to walk up to the front to give her my money. I waited in the same spot, and she didn't offer me my change nor did she bring back my credit card; I had to remind her that she still had my credit card...It wasn't that she was unfriendly throughout the duration of our stay though because she was relatively nice and she was quick to say that EVERYTHING on the menu is wonderfully delicious; it's that we didn't see her most of the night after it got busy. Atmosphere: Situated where many other well known restaurants/bars are, Joe's offers a dimly lit typical restaurant/bar environment where patrons can either sit inside or outside on the patio. Great for both small and large parties, but make sure you arrive early (before 9PM) if you're coming with a big group because it can get busy. Lively. There's even a piano though we weren't drunk enough to try and play a piece. If I was more of a glutton and I cared more about quantity than quality, then Joe's would've been perfect. It's not to say that the food wasn't good, but it wasn't memorable either; it'd be cool to say I tried rattlesnake/rabbit before, but I'm not keen on such things. Marilu R. is right on point with her review and we pretty much keep finding ourselves here more and more. Joe's seems to have everything that pleases the whole group of friends when we end up here. There is Kostrizer on tap for the bro and the boy. Fried desserts for my Doppel and the boy. Fried pickles!!! I love pickles. They have a full bar so regular cocktails can be ordered up too, a comfy patio with ultimate people watching access, decent prices and really great, pretty and friendly waitresses which pleases me. There is one waitress in particular who is a doll and we chatted for a bit about the dress I was wearing, she just had a great personality and that alone would make me frequent a place. Sometimes service makes all the difference in the world. I could go anywhere in DTF and pretty much grab a pint but I am going to keep coming back here for the staff and chill environment. Personally, I am kind of limited here at Joe's food wise. I will indulge and split the waffles, fries and pickles but other than that I am not too interested in ordering up anything else. I hear rave reviews from all of my friends about the other sausage items and meat dishes. I like that Joe's kind of has this sausage shtick, I can appreciate that but until they have fake sausages, I am not too down with ordering up full on grub here. Vegetarians out there, don't let this stop you from checking it out, just go for drinks and dessert. read more

Horrible customer service. My sis and I came here after work, around 5 pm on a weekday. The place was empty, it seemed like it took forever for them to come and check in on us and see if we were ready to order. I ordered a hot dog and she ordered a corn dog. It took about 30 minutes for us to receive our food. Again, we were the only people there. I doubt it takes that long to make a hot dog and corn dog. After we finished our meals, we had to get up and request our check because again they hadn't check in on us to see if we were done. I've been to Joe's a handful of times in the last 2 weeks and I must say, I am definitely shocked that I hadn't found this place sooner. Their menu looks amazing, I've only tried the pizza so far, but even that was pretty spectacular. I'm sure within my next few visits I'll actually get a chance to try some of their other creative and unique options. I'm actually REALLY looking forward to that. They've got a nice selection of eclectic beers on tap and the bartenders, waitresses, and owner(s) are phenomenal. Yes, PHENOMENAL. Every night I have been there the waitresses stay on top of what's going on. They're friendly and welcoming with everyone, but never too distracted to not notice that your drink is almost empty. "Would you like another beer?" ..."sure!" within seconds later, there's the waitress again, with a full beer. She doesn't wander around taking other orders, she takes your drink order, fills it, and returns. I have NEVER, EVER in my DTF-experiences had better service. EVER. I am continuously impressed with this bar, and can definitely see myself visiting, and revisiting it on a somewhat regular basis, and that is definitely a very good thing. The crowd is always friendly and they even have karaoke a few nights a week!! And to think, I was ready to throw in the towel with downtown fullerton. Thanks for the revival Joe's! read more

This place kind of sprung from nowhere, like a ninja, but was in plain sight, unlike a ninja, because if a ninja springs from nowhere (which they always do) it's likely the whole city block would have been devastated and destroyed! Joe's isn't like a ninja, but it's been around for a little over six months. It's owned by the same people that own the deli and Hero's across the alley. It certainly has a similar feel to each of those locations. The do a lot of sausage. They have a good menu, from what I can tell. This place is in the same vane as Valhala Kitchen or wurstkuche (no, I don't know how to spell it!). The beer selection is what you might expect from your standard bar, so I was a little let down by the lack of Belgian beers on hand. I had the rattlesnake/duck sausage. You know, it really wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. I think that's because they really just grilled the sausage and didn't do too much to it like adding different oils or sauces, which was fine. But the first bite was a little underwhelming. But you throw in the other condiments and it makes for a good eat. In all this is a fun place to bring friends and do something out of the ordinary. Wanted to like it. I really did. I was whining because the Dogzilla truck wasn't around and I really wanted a hotdog. My husband pulled up yelp on his phone and found Joe's, so off we went. We were immediately impressed when we saw Bootlegger's Golden Chaos on the beer menu. Even more impressed by the variety of bizarre hotdogs and wierd stuff they deep fry. The hub chose the duck and bacon dog, I chose the rattlesnake and rabbit. The menu even had beer pairing suggestions for the dogs. Neat! Then the disappointments started rolling in. The bartender, though very amusing and friendly, had a couple of clearly off-duty co-workers hanging around the end of the bar. When not actively serving people, he would run back to socialize with the co-workers. It was off-putting and unprofessional. Employees should not hang around the bar in their work clothes. Period. Then the food came and I was fairly pissed; the hotdogs, spendy at 9.95 and up, were really small, and the rolls were hard and unappealing. They give you a mountain of perfectly cooked fries, but the hotdogs are dinky. No one can or wants to eat that many fries, people. Don't pretend you're making up for the undersized hotdogs by overserving the cheaper element on the plate. The sweet potato fries were delicious, truly, but I can't and won't eat my body weight in them. Neither dog was anywhere near tasty enough to warrant the price. Their beer selection was fairly amazing. Watch out for the so-called pairings; they seem to be chosen for their price, not to complement the food. I ordered the Mischief at the menu's suggestion. It turned out to be pricey and HUGE. It was an outsized bottle, far more beer than I wanted to drink. I don't think its cool to suggest an oversized item as a pairing without warning the customer they're ordering more alcohol than is safe to consume and drive home. I made my husband drink the rest, but I still felt like I'd been suckered. This place feels like its set up to squeeze maximum cash out of noobs, but not to entice repeat customers. Exotic foodstuffs! Cool! Must try! Overpriced and small servings. Meh. My husband had a couple shots, and was happy with the pouring, and we were both happy with the service we got, excepting the intrusive socializing of the staff. Joe's is a bar and grill located in the SoCo district of downtown Fullerton. It's surrounded by Hero's and Roscoe's Bar and Grill. I think the same person owned each place. Joe's specializes in sausages. They range from traditional to exotic. I enjoy the Louisiana hot link because it's nice and spicy. They also have a cheap flat bread pizza that I enjoy. All dishes come with a generous side of French fries. On the menu it tells you what beer goes with what sausage plate. I found this useful. The bar area is crammed but they have plenty of seat at the bar to watch a baseball or football game or Kobe. There is a patio area that seats around 20 and another area that has a piano, although I have never seen anyone playing the piano. On Thursday thru Saturday they have a DJ but there's no dancing unless you're drunk. Parking use to be a big reason I wouldn't come here during the weekends but that was solved with the addition of a parking garage 50yrds away. Joes is a good place. read more

A year ago, Joe's would have received at least 4 stars from me, but they are slipping. When Joe's first opened, we were going there once a month for a "Girls Lunch". As long time Hero's customers, we were excited to have a different menu in a place with the same enjoyable enviornment as heros and roscoes. It took us awhile, but eventually we got the guts to try the rattlesnake sausage, but it was served to us raw. This was gross, but we chocked it up to an experience and a fun story to tell. We loved the food, we loved the service. However, the last two times I have visited Joe's they have been considerably slipping. Both times, the place has been virtually empty, and yet service is consistently slow. Slow to get the orders, slow to get the food, slow to get the check. The dude that use to help us is gone, and I attribute that to part of the problem. When I am on my lunch break, I cannot afford to have a 1.5 hour lunch, the bulk of which is spent waiting. Also, the quality of the food seems to have gone way down. The sausage that I love was overcooked. How hard is it cook a sausage? At a sausage place? Also, the fries were cold. We decided that can't go there anymore, its just too slow for food that is subpar. It is very sad that it isnt what it was. Roscoes and Heros are still wonderful and we are regular customers there. read more

He pointed out his picks on the menu such as the Alligator & Rabbit sausage, or for the less daring, the Italian Sausage with cheese actually stuffed inside, topped with onions and peppers. Looking over the menu I decided to try "the Fried Junk"; which includes a mountain of shoestring fires, onion rings, fried pickles, fried cheese sticks and fried pepperoni. I have to say, it wasn't too bad; the pepperoni was crisp, and the cheese sticks were filled with a cheddar cheese, unlike mozzarella like most establishments. You can eat healthy or you can eat at Joe's, but you can't do both. My favorites at Joe's are the Brat and the Frito pie. The Frito pie makes me flatulent for a minimum of two days and it's totally worth the embarrassment. I only visit Joe's on weekends for lunch so I never see the nightclub crowd. I assume I would not like it here with all the sports fans screening and yelling. I'm more the ballet type. This little place is located near the alley with Heroe's and Roscoe's. They are all owned by the same place and I love their patio marketing that facilitates bar hopping. :) This place doesn't have happy hour but isn't an arm and a leg for a draft beer at $6.00USD. Their gastropub food is rather good (probably better if we were drunk) but definitely not too shabby for the Fullerton area. They specialize in club sandwiches, burgers, and sausage dogs. For once in my life, I had a dry sausage (gasp). But in terms of the meld of flavors it was well put together. The bread was over toasted causing a strange crunch as I ate this dry dog, but the mustard (somewhat) saved it. I tried the half batch with onion rings and sweet potato fries. I guess as I get older, sweet potato isn't really my thing, but I enjoyed their onion rings. Paired with a pale ale, it made this couple pretty sweet. I would give this place three stars. It isn't too bad but this definitely can't compare to Wurstküche in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. In its defense, the pickle was pretty damn good. read more

MMMHMM~ i was on fb one day and a friend wrote that she was at WURSTKUCHE? (sorry if i misspelled it) and claimed that it was the best sausages in town. i LOOOOOOOVE sausage so i had to google it and discovered that it was in LA. :'(. i looked for a place nearby and discovered JOE'S. i read reviews about 'deep fried fair foods' and 'rattlesnake sausages'??! so i thought HELL YES! LET"S DO THE DAMN THING! went there with my bf.. i asked the bar tender/waiter.. "is the rattlesnake sausage REAL rattlesnake?" and he said "yes. it's really ratllesnake." EVEN better. so i ordered that and bf ordered the "lido sausage" which had goat cheese in it.. mmmmm... the rattlesnake was good and the fact that it was something un-ordinary made it taste even better. the lido was alright i guess... i was too stuck on eating my rattlesnake and bunny sausage.. :D he seemed to think so also. THE BEST PAIRING WITH BEER~~ afterwards, we tackled the "deep fried pb&j with waffles" instead of the regular sandwich bread. he says "it's like an orgasm in your mouth." yeah, it's that f-ing good. if you're in the area, you DEFINITELY have to try this combo. ;) oooh btw. parking isn't that great. we went there around 3pm on friday so we got to park in the small lot next to it but i'm pretty sure you have to park on the street or in the lot behind the building. read more

I was so disappointed at the service!!! Our regular girl wasn't here. We normally spend between $200 to $400 dollars here on game nights. Tonight we came with some other friends. We had Britney helping us. We were all getting our drinks and being served as expected. Once the guy that came with us left this woman stopped serving us & for the next 2 hours we had to go to the bar & bother the other servers to get us more drinks. What type of bullshit is that!!! Just because she had the hots for the other guy that was with us. She charged him a lot less than our tab it's cool but I can tell you this. I will never come here unless the other bartender/server is here. She works hard. Takes care of all her tables without any favoritism. She's as professional as it can be. We are so disappointed! Duck and bacon sausage with half regular fries and half sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo... finished with a breakfast pizza (chef's recommendation)... all at 11pm... sorry swimsuit but this meal was totally worth it!! But service could've worth being a little sharper! read more

This is our second time at Joe's and before I wrote a review I wanted to be 100% sure of my opinion, now I am. After a not so cool experience at Roscoe's, we headed over to Joe's. The music was much nicer and we didn't have to yell at one another to have a conversation. While sitting on the patio enjoying the afternoon sun, listening to the good music, we ordered a round of beer and the "JUNK".. fantastically fried pickles, onion rings, fries, cheese sticks and pepperoni, yes, Fried Pepperoni.. we knew what we were getting ourselves into when we ordered it, and it was well worth it. YUM!!! Last time we were there, we had the rabbit, snake and chicken sausages.. just delicious! Highly recommend if you want a beer and relax time with your friends. Went to Joe's on a Friday evening (early). The only problem I found with this place is (like all downtown Fullerton), there is Very Limited Parking. Fortunately, I had someone with me who has a handicapped placard. Anyways, on to Joe's. Decor is minimal, low tables are only in the back area or out on the patio. Menu is a simple two-sided card. Appetizers and sausages on the front, "healthy" items and desserts and beers on the back. Appetizers = fried stuff, rocky mountain oysters (ick), frogs legs. Their sausage menu is eclectic, featuring everything from the old-school stuff like bratwurst and polish to rattlesnake, boar, alligator, etc. Desserts are all fried. Cupcakes, waffles, twinkies, ding dongs. If you can fry it, Joe's is already there. We had the Chicago Hot Dog, the Bratwurst sandwich and the Polish Sausage. Chicago dog was very close to authentic (yes they had the glow-in-the-dark pickle relish and the sport peppers) but wasn't on a poppyseed bun and I couldn't taste any celery salt. But it was *very* good. Mine came with a mountain of onion rings for a slight extra charge. Bratwurst came with sauerkraut and mustard. Polish was the same. The others in my party really liked their sandwiches, but were unable to finish their own mountains of fries (the waitress was nice enough to pack 'em up for us). Huge soft drinks in large glass mugs with refills. Staff was very attentive and the manager stopped by to check on how we were doing. All in all, I left stuffed to the gills but will definitly go back and try their fried desserts. read more

I've not eaten here yet, but from the other reviews, I want to! I have had several drinks at Joe's however. Several. Bill the bartender was awesome, very attentive and fun. Drinks were good, we had a random table and he had the foresight to separate our bill from the beginning and listed our drinks for "guy in weird hat" "2 cute girls" (that was me and my friend, haha) "couple" so it was nice at the end when we went to pay, and especially because I just met 3 of the people that night, so no one got stuck with other people's drinks. Karaoke in the back, I think part of some 40th bday party they were hosting on the back patio. Not sure if it's every night. Fun place, definitely will be back for food and possibly karaoke if I have several drinks again. read more

My friend has been craving a dog for about two months now. Typically this type of food wouldn't be my first choice but I wanted to surprise him ;) I saw that Joe's specialized in unique sausages so I got pretty excited! We walked into Joes, couldn't find anywhere to sit so we headed to the back patio. Didn't get a menu or anything so I was a bit confused but luckily I had already looked at the menu on Yelp and knew what I wanted. Placed the order and it didn't take too long to come out. I ordered the duck sausage and he ordered a Chicago dog. Sadly, we couldn't even eat the food because the bread was so hard and stale tasting! It was a brick! We both just took out the meat in the bread and ate that but what the heck? :( I don't think that is how the bread is supposed to be and I don't see any other reviews talking about it. Really confused. The sausage itself tasted great but the other main half, the bread, was not edible. Will not be back. read more
