Callaway Vineyard & Winery hosted a 4th of July celebration and fireworks viewing for a minimum fee, that included free parking and a celebratory glass of sparkling wine. The venue provided numerous opportunities for viewing fireworks provided by the city of Temecula and another hosted by the Pechanga Casino. Seating was provided at different viewpoints both indoor and outside among the vines. The afternoon was consumed by a DJ playing 70s/80s hits as people sang, danced, enjoyed food from local vendors or the Meritage restaurant. The view at Callaway Winery is undeniably beautiful. It's the kind of setting that would be perfect for an intimate wedding, special event, or even just a scenic photo opportunity. The grounds and overall atmosphere are definitely one of its strongest qualities. That said, when it comes to the service and the wine itself, there are definitely better options in Temecula. The pours were surprisingly small -- well under what you would expect -- and the service felt impersonal. Unfortunately, the experience lacked the warmth and attentiveness that make a wine tasting feel enjoyable and memorable. As for the wine, we found it not very palatable, especially in comparison to Bolero next door, which offered a much more enjoyable overall experience. While Callaway has the advantage of a gorgeous view, the quality of the wine and the hospitality simply did not measure up for us. Overall, it's a lovely place to visit for the scenery, but if your priority is excellent wine and welcoming service, there are stronger choices nearby. read more

Okay... this place turned us into winery people We actually came to Callaway Vineyard & Winery for a surprise birthday trip and had zero expectations of becoming members, but that's exactly what happened. We started at Meritage and WOW. We ordered the burgers, grilled octopus, spicy shrimp, and shrimp salad, and everything was incredible. The octopus was cooked perfectly with so much flavor, and the spicy shrimp had the best kick. Honestly, every single thing we had was amazing. After that, we took some pictures in front of the Callaway sign (the views are insane), then headed over to the winery, and that's when everything changed. Dave helped us at first and was super welcoming, but then we met Daniel, and he completely made the experience. He was so knowledgeable, so kind, and just genuinely connected with us. Because of him, we joined the wine club, and now we literally come back at least once a week. Laura (his manager) remembered us from our previous visits, which was honestly so cool. The banter between her and Daniel with us makes the whole experience even more fun. We also met Krystal, their higher-up manager, who happened to be next to us in the tasting room, she was just as amazing. And Shannon even reached out to personally welcome me after we joined, which was such a nice touch. And the craziest part? I drive from Simi Valley, through terrible traffic, just to come here. That's how much we love it. The views, the staff, the whole vibe, it honestly feels like I'm back at my ranch in Mexico just relaxing with family. That's the best way I can describe it. Came back to this winery and brought my parents this time, and it was such a lovely experience. We visited middle of the week, so it was nice and --no crowds at all. If you're looking for a good quiet spot to have a nice glass of wine, then Callaway is the place to be. The weather was beautiful, sun shining and nice breeze. I had a tasting and my favorite glass was my final glass that was a mix of the late harvest and a white which turned out to be refreshing and sweet. We visited Callaway Winery this afternoon for a tasting. We recently quit our wine membership at another local winery and are looking to join a new one. This was our first time here, but I know it is one of the bigger, well-known wineries in town. The winery is large, with a great view, a restaurant, plenty of outdoor seating, and a members only seating area. We were helped by a friendly and very knowledgeable lady, but I didn't get her name. She gave recommendations based on what we told her we like, and included some of her personal favorites as well. We tasted a variety of both reds and whites. My husband and I both noticed that the tasting pours were considerably smaller than pours at other wineries. While we did try a couple of wines we liked, we weren't wowed by the majority of them. The prices for wine memberships were decent though. Another thing we noticed was that they get a lot of tour bus visitors. At one point a very large group came in and squeezed us out of where we were standing and tasting our wine. The lady helping us turned her attention to them for a few minutes, and we thought she may have been done with us, but she did come back to finish helping us with our tastings and did a great job. Overall, this is probably a winery worth checking out for the tourist experience, but for us, we prefer a more quaint winery with a more relaxed feel. read more

My husband and I have visited Callaway Winery several times now as part of a wine tour. Callaway Winery is my favorite winery in Temecula. The grounds are so beautiful and they have plenty of seating space. They also hold weddings there, which looks like a perfect wedding venue. Everything is so green and beautiful. The wine is delicious! I usually prefer white wine, but their red wine is also amazing. We had 6 tasting and we were able to choose from a list of wines which was nice. This has been one of my top wineries to go for tastings. There was only one server working behind the bar and multiple people waiting for service. She got backed up trying to assist someone with a purchase. I went to the front and asked if we could use our tastings another day and was told no. The venue itself is stunning. The Tuscany-style views, the Barrel Room, and the West Lawn were even more beautiful in person than in photos. Our tour with Tanya made a great first impression and we even joined the wine club afterward because we genuinely liked their wines. Planning Experience The all-inclusive package made planning from out of state much easier, and Mariah, our main coordinator, was wonderful--responsive, patient, and helpful. That said, I'd still recommend couples hire a dedicated month-of or day-of coordinator to ensure small details don't get missed. Food Tasting Our first tasting was extremely disappointing. Several appetizers were served in small black plastic cups, the meatballs and sliders were cold and dry, and the entrées lacked seasoning. We paid extra to bring parents and our MOH, and it felt like a poor value given the quality. The second tasting, however, was excellent and restored our confidence. The only lingering issue was that, despite requesting multiple times that no appetizers be served in black plastic cups, they still appeared on the wedding day. Bar & Drinks This was our biggest frustration. We expected a full bar but later learned the venue only allows beer, wine, and lower-proof spirits. The "premium bar" still used very low-tier brands, and cocktails defaulted to plastic cups unless we rented glassware. We requested two bartenders repeatedly but only had one on the wedding day, which created long lines and pushed guests to switch to wine or beer. Drinks also lacked consistency because the bartender was free-pouring everything--one groomsman even asked, and the bartender replied, "Yeah, because I am baller." Not ideal for a black-tie wedding. Wedding Day Beyond the bar issues, the day was beautiful. The remodeled bridal suite is gorgeous, Soiree Floral made the dinner terrace look like a magazine, and the sunset over the vineyard was unreal. The Barrel Room was the perfect ending and the coffee bar was a huge surprise hit--hand-crafted lattes and chai were loved by everyone. Our DJ, Mark, kept the energy high all night. One unexpected stressor was being told at the end of the night that we needed to handle all breakdown, cleanup, and clearing of the suites ourselves. Our package mentioned setup and breakdown of personal décor, so we assumed this would be handled. Instead, we scrambled for over an hour and missed the first part of our after-party. Guest Feedback Guests raved about the venue, food, and overall atmosphere. The only consistent complaint was the long bar line. Final Thoughts Callaway is gorgeous, romantic, and has an amazing staff. We truly had a beautiful wedding. However, the bar limitations and staffing issues were the biggest drawback and not aligned with the elevated guest experience we envisioned. If bar service is not a priority, Callaway is a great choice. If it is, I recommend asking very specific questions upfront or considering other venues that offer a true full bar. read more

Went for the Fathers Day celebration and came away with pretty mixed but overall below average results. The weather was sweltering hot at 99 ° F the hottest day to date, and the sunroom turned into semi outdoor dining room with no air conditioning and mist blowing fan just didn't do anything for creature comfort that we needed for our dining. The service was decent. Due to the demands, the staffs were ill prepared to keep up with our reservation, but it didn't take too long for the lady to clean and set up the simple table with small dishes and utensils. The appetizers were decent but small portions for the price. It was made for individual serving but with Napa Valley prices. The best one was air fried cauliflower with few mushrooms and bacon. The Ahi Tartarè and Ceviche were decent. Problem arose with dinner salads. Cesar salad with white anchovies came out with room temperature romaine lettuce unwashed. The leaves were all black, shriveled as if they were left out few days after the expiration date. The Duck Leg Spätzle was atrocious. The German pasta was tasteless with no sign of semolina or herbs to bring out the robust flavor. It lacked true nutty deep flavor instead had bland flour flavor that I personally get turned off. The duck leg was cooked to make the meat only edible with leftover Neanderthal teeth. If you like plastic tough flavorless dark meat, you are in for the treat of your life. I rather enjoy the perfectly prepared Peking Duck at any time. The Father's Day special Tritip was well done and had Mac & Cheese as a side dish. The special day was not that special due to the mediocre foods. Hopefully it was an exceptional day not the norm. read more

We love Callaway! Always have and always will, so much that the membership is worth it for us. However, today we visited the member area, and there was a server with long black hair and tattoos who was rather rude when closing was 15 minutes out. She took all of our tasting tabs even though we hadn't used them all and could proceed with tasting downstairs. After I let her know that we did give the appropriate amount to her, she still proceeded to take our last tabs. The winery itself is absolutely stunning, with some of the best views in the valley, and their wines never disappoint. Their buttery Chardonnay is a favorite of ours, along with plenty of other delicious pours we've enjoyed over the years. On our most recent visit, we were helped by Erika, and she made the experience even better. She was so warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the wines. She guided us through tastings with such care and made great recommendations, which of course led us to leaving with more bottles than we planned. Her service was outstanding and really stood out. This is a great place to get wines for hot weather. Don't sleep on this winery, we were told it's been here since the 70s ( thanks for the efu action Laura) and the grounds are beautiful!
