We heard about Callihan's from a friend, and decided to try for a lunch. The dining room inside looks great and good for a bigger group, our server was welcoming and very polite. Our appetizer was shrimp in a bourbon sauce, which was very good with the bed of lettuce, but the ranch dressing didn't work, blue cheese would have pulled this together, however still a decent appetizer. The fried ribs which we came for, was well prepared, just a touch more seasoning and this would be over the top. The chicken and waffles were great, the only feedback is with the waffles already being sweet, it would go better with steen's cane syrup, but if you like sweet this is perfect. Service is a little slow but good food. Ohh so get the bread pudding, one of the better I've had, all the sides were good especially the yams, and greens. read more

Everything we ordered was amazing! We had the gumbo, a burger, fried shrimp, the kid's Alfredo, mashed potatoes and the bread pudding. It was all very good! I would eat that praline bread pudding everyday if I could! read more

Ok, so I really dont like giving business bad reviews. But I think they have earned it. Personally I've visited this place twice. First as a normal guest second for a party with 20 others. The service was bad for both times. Mostly everything taking awkwardly long to happen drinks 30 min , food 45 min , waiter not checking up after food delivered. I really didn't enjoy my experience. Ive been told by others that they have had similar experiences. The environment is very quiet and calm and I can appreciate that. Maybe too calm to say it took them 30 min to bring my drink .. The taste of the food was great the problem was I went through so much to get it that I didn't feel like being there anymore. read more

Friendly staff. Nice set up. The food is amazing! We ordered shrimp as an appetizer, it was seasoned to perfection! Everything was delightful! Nice sized portions. Make sure you stop here! Everything was absolutely incredible - the steak - grilled to perfection. Gumbo - delicious. The sweet potato casserole was the best I have ever tasted - sweet and savory. We will be stopping here everything we drive through Lafayette. read more

Ignored the moment we walked in......if I owned a business that needed walk in customers my employees would greet them with a smile and thank them for coming. Why would I come back if I felt unwelcome. So now the service was SLOW.....the food was SLOW....and bland. Missed on all categories. First time here, it was my birthday and some friends and I wanted to try the cajun food...It was quite the experience! There was a birthday party being celebrated, with music, so the place was festive! We had a young man wait on us and he was helpful and good! The manager came and discussed the many foods with us and was helpful...ok, so the best part, the food is delicious! I had the fish dish, which was grilled catfish with crawfish ettouffe ...it was amazing! The right amount of spice and hidden underneath was the best rice...must have been local...the restaurant prides itself on the freshness of its ingredients, and locally sourced ingredients. Two words: look elsewhere. Service was pitiful, food prep was sloooooow, in spite of the fact that there were only three tables in use. Poor waitress tried, but I'm guessing it was her first night. Food was tasty so I guess, in the long run, was the most important. But still? The blackened catfish was seasoned perfectly, the potato salad was similar to my mama's (meaning that it was amazing), the green beans were flavorful with baby potatoes and bacon! Our server Shantee was great and made the recommendation of "praline and pecan bread pudding" for dessert, which was delicious! read more
