ordered from here for pizzas. Ordered a mushroom pizza was expecting mushrooms with red sauce received garlic/onions and mushrooms with no sauce . It was not something we enjoyed. I mentioned to a friend and she said the exact same thing happened to them. But they went to return it and got attitude and were made to wait 45 minutes. if you do, have two different types of mushroom pizza, you really need to clarify when you get an order as to what the customer is looking for. The customer doesn't know the menu like an employee does and has no idea there are two types of mushroom pizzas. I am hesitant to order here again unless I memorize the menu and know what orders-have two meanings . disappointing and expensive we just threw it out and didn't ask for a refund or exchange. What a welcome addition to the area Cals is our favorite pizza in the area, the ice cream is second to none, and the wings are so good you would think that's what they would be known for. The staff are great and they are pretty dang good at estimating the wait time, so you can always bring home hot food. read more

Ordered a plain cheese pizza and gold fever wings. Pizza overall really, really good. Crust crispy on the outside, chewy inside. Delicious cheese and sauce. No complaints. Can't wait to try a specialty pizza. The wings though are on another level! Juicy, high quality chicken with a nice black char on the outside. I'm honestly not sure how they cook them. They're not deep fried and I don't think they're smoked. I assume they're roasted in the brick oven? Either way, they're so delicious. Probably Top 5 I've tried in the Boston area and definitely best in Reading. The gold fever sauce is very tasty, but you could easily enjoy these wings plain with some ranch. Only complaint would be ease of ordering. The week they opened, I called to order and no one answered. Their online ordering system hasn't been set up yet. They're not on any of the major delivery apps. Finally, I had to just go to the store and wait 15 minutes, which was inconvenient. For a takeout pizza spot, picking up the phone and offering delivery should be standard. I'm sure they'll figure it out. read more

Wow! I've been grabbing ice cream next door and finally decided to try Cal's pizza. I got the Sicilian pizza with pepperoni and I'm shocked it made it home (I ate 2 slices while driving)! it was hot, gooey and tasty. The crust was golden brown and crisp. I also got gold fever chicken tenders and they were really good! I now know where I'll be getting my regular pizza from! I would also like to note how spectacular the staff was. I have ordered pizza here twice thus far! However; I phoned this past Friday and was not able to get through- so I decided to drive across town! It was crazy crowded and a bit Unorganized?! I left I have only had pizza here twice snd I was surprised as the first time I was expecting to have a great cheese pizza but not so... maybe I don't have an acquired taste for that type of pizza... to hard crusty snd not cheesy enough?! I did try a second time a few weeks ago and it was better than the first but. It fantastic! I have been next door for Ice Cream and it's EXCELLENT... a bit pricey but isn't everything snd it's the wonderful town of READING.. haha j/k They need to improve parking as most people have SUV's and are not good at parking.... ???? I don't get it I'll give the Creamery 5 stars snd may try the cheese pizza once more if I can get myself a parking space! read more

Our Friday night dinner is always pizza but this past Friday, we wanted to try a new place. Thought let's give Cal's a try. They had mainly good reviews and I'm sure glad we gave them a shot. We got a large cheese and a small Sausage Rabe pizza. Price is definitely a bit more than your local pizza shop but we were very impressed w/how good the pizzas were. The sauce was just right and cooked perfectly! It does take a bit for when you place your order but it is well worth the wait! We definitely will order again! Oh and also want to add the staff was very efficient and courteous. read more

Only had the pizza and it is very good when they get it right but 2 times now got home and crust was burnt. This last time could not even cut or bite into the slices. Considering the high prices they need to work on quality control. Maybe have the pizza maker check the bottom crust and if it is burnt do not give it to the customer. This is sad cause we are all about supporting the local businesses but sorry to say we will not take any further chances. read more

Solid pizza for the "north shore". The Sicilian pizza is "Bronx" like. Not 100 but a good 82%. Place is jammed on weekends. Close to highway helps and better then the hike to Burlington. Better then Polcari's. read more

Excellent pizza. Not quite as good as Louie's but they're open on Sundays which is a big plus! Also probably the best creamy Italian salad dressing I've ever had. Definitely recommend getting a salad even just for that dressing alone. It's so good! read more

I've ordered from here a few times and they haven't disappoint. I've tried their Stella's salad and their pizzas and I can say that they're easily my new favorite spot. Honey bbq chicken pizza is out of this world. I've eaten a lot of pizza and this is top notch.

We have had this pizza a few times but probably won't be running back after this last time. My husband really likes the mushroom pizza. the top of the pizza is great plenty of fresh mushrooms, nice sauce. The problem is the crust. It tastes like and has the consistency of the box it came in. Flat and hard as a rock, almost like the pizza was ready long before we picked it up or we got the pizza made for slices instead of the one we ordered. read more

This is the second time we have had food from Cal's. The food is outstanding. We had fusilli with Bolognese sauce--delicious and enough for two dinners. The BBQ Chicken wraps were so good too!! The wrap was filled to perfection!! Again, delicious. The eggplant parmigiana brought memories of dinners past with the family on Sundays. I highly recommend this establishment. Great place! Cal's Brick oven is the best pizza around. In addition to the pizzas, the salads are great, chicken tenders and the subs are as well....every item on the menu is really good. Inside Cal's is clean and has a cool rustic theme. The employees are always extremely kind and I cannot say enough good things about the owner. He is so friendly, welcoming and genuinely cares about his customers enjoying the food. If you are in the area and looking for a great food spot this is it. I order a lot of takeout in the surrounding area. When I think of takeout I usually think of the pan pizza joints, greasy steak and cheese, roast beef with sauce, Buffalo chicken etc! I ordered a pizza and a salad. They aren't cheap with the toppings here and the size of everything was decent. However, I didn't get the brick oven feel? I may have been thinking more of a crisp flatbread. It was still pretty decent though. They have a good selection of different types of pizzas as well. read more

I finally got to try Cal's brick oven pizza and it was the best pie I've had in a long time! I'm a pizza snob and this place hit all the notes with amazing sauce, cheese and crust was perfect! Amazing pizza, subs, and salads. We've been ordering here basically every other day since they opened and never disappointed. We love the chicken kebob and steak tip salads. They are big enough for multiple meals. Salads come with the best pita bread I've ever tasted. I rarely write reviews but this place is seriously so good. Very glad to have it close by. read more

I have to say that I have lived in Reading for 20+ years and for all those years I have drove to various other towns to get a decent pizza as Reading has been an abyss for decent pizza forever. No more, love Cal's, best Pizza in Reading to date and overall great pizza compared to anything in the immediate area.
