Keith from Cal's installed a top 1/4 section of a Wayne Dalton door which was damaged when it hit a recycle box. He adjusted the motor down force, replaced the broken section and adjusted the springs and wheel with the steel rope. $600 for entire top 1/4 section with windows. Perfect match. We had used Cal's garage door to install the motor a little over a year ago (Jan of 2018). The whole plate came off today, I called Cal's and spoke to Justin, he refused to repair the installation blaming the quality of the door saying it's non-insuulated. 1) if you know the door is very poor quality and made from thin material why wouldn't you call it out during the installation process? 2) what kind of professional door installer would expect a heavy door to hold on two tiny screws and expect it to last? They should have either called this out and suggested a metal plate or not done the installation at all. Suggest staying away as they don't stand behind their installations and blame the material of the door. What a joke. read more

Cal's is awesome! Call them! Had a garage door mishap yesterday afternoon. While the door was closing, it apparently got hung up while the motor kept running, so the top two panels were badly bent in the middle, and the bracket partially popped off. Nooooooo!!!! Even after unlatching the motor, I couldn't pull it down to close the garage because of the bent panels. My handyman helped me close it and recommended I call Cal's. I did, and I sure am glad! I had been expecting to learn that the door was not salvageable, and I would need to replace it, so I was thinking it would cost thousands of dollars, plus there would be a long delay to order it and have it installed, plus I would have to have it painted, ughhhhh....... How would I manage with a useless garage door in the interim?? Well, Cal's to the rescue! Lucio came out this morning and, after looking at the door, said he could make it work. He said although I *could* get a new door, it would be probably $3,000, whereas he could make it work today for $300. I really appreciated his honesty and went for the fix today. Sure enough, Lucio made it work! He wasn't able to undo the dents entirely, but the door works again, which was my #1 goal. I will probably replace the door pretty soon to get rid of the dents, but at least now I can take my time and schedule it for a much more convenient time! If you have to have a repair to your garage door, Cal's is the place to call. Woke up one morning to discover my garage door was making a high-pitched sound and struggling to open normally when I tried to use it. I'm no expert but it seemed like the spring had broken. Expert tip: If this ever happens to you, you could keep using the garage door but probably shouldn't. It puts extra strain on the motor, reducing its lifetime. I called Cal's and they were able to schedule a service slot the next day. Keith showed up exactly on time and diagnosed the issue instantly -- yes, the springs. Only one of the two were broken so Keith gave me the option of replacing one or both. Since the garage door is older, I guessed the other would fail soon and opted to replace both now. Keith lubed the chain and the rest of the assembly, cleaned up, and was done in under an hour. He told me we have a one year warranty. Overall, very friendly, efficient, and easy to deal with. I used Cal's Garage Doors a few years ago to fix a broken door and they did a great job, so when I was in the market for a new door I decided to give them a try. They came in at a better price then my other two quotes and, for what I believe to be, a better quality door. The entire experience was outstanding. The install went well and when my door widow received a stress crack several months after install I called them to discuss. Justin was great and explained that it was covered and they would order a new glass pane from the manufacturer and get it fixed. I ordered a new garage door 6 months ago. The door was to be installed in 7-9wks. I've called every month to check on the status. Each time, I got a run around excuse, mostly putting blame on the Manufacturer. They have never called me to give update. The spring broke on my single car garage, and as much as I like doing things myself, I figured this time it would be better to have a professional do the job. Cal's was one of the places I called for a quote, and ended up picking since I wanted my garage fixed in a hurry. One place I called was cheaper, but he seemed swamped and couldn't get back to me right away. Everywhere else I called was more expensive or they didn't end up calling me back. Dave initially picked up the phone to give me the quote including taxes and labor and then said it would be an extra $15 if the wires were broken because I suspected they might also be torn. He was extremely friendly, with maybe a hint of sarcasm after he found out I was shopping around. But I called them back not too long after and a female picked up and helped book my appointment. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same day, so she said they'd send someone out the next morning giving me a time window. Cody showed up within the given time frame and was also extremely nice and friendly. After we opened up my heavy @$$ door, I left him to do his thing since my unit was detached from the garage. Within about an hour, he called me back to tell me my garage was fixed and ready to go. It turned out, the quote I was given was actually for a two car garage vs a single, but since both my wires needed replacing, plus the capacitor in my motor had stopped working (this I can attest to), he said he'd just do a package deal and charge me the quoted price still, which I thought was fair with the new parts added. 4 garage door springs broken in 14 years with typical use... 3 of those times Cal's did the service with inadequate springs. We had only been in our house for two years when the garage door spring broke the first time. Cal's came out and put in a new set of springs through our home owner's warranty. One year later, the garage door spring broke again and Cal's came out to replace the springs under the home owner's warranty. Then 4 years later the spring broke again and this time we didn't have the home owner's warranty. Cal's told us that they would put in a much stronger, bigger spring that had a lifetime warranty. So we paid a lot for the springs thinking we wouldn't have to deal with them again. 8 years later the "lifetime" spring broke. Cal's was going to charge me for the labor and two new springs that cost nearly the full price I paid 8 years back. Total switch and bait! (Other service companies that I called provide five year warranties for both parts AND LABOR.) Note that I only knew about the cost because I had called back to see if there was a charge. Cal's didn't even give me a quote the first time I called to set the appointment. I would have been surprised with a huge bill for another set of inadequate springs... priced as much as new set of springs. After 4 garage door springs in only 14 years and was quoted nearly full price for "lifetime warranty springs", I cancelled the appointment with Cal's. The service company that installed the 4th set of garage door springs told me that the springs installed by Cal's were much too small for our garage door. This means the first two springs installed by Cal's were extremely small if the 3rd one was was supposed to be "bigger". Now I understand why the first two broke so quickly even though the cycle use is limited... typical open and close at the beginning and end of the work day. read more

An 83 year old friend of mine lost the chain drive on her Craftsman Garage Door opener ; since couldn't get the repair kit in less than two days I suggested she call a specialist . Cal's sent a nice kid out to replace the parts and do the adjustments , which he did in about an hour .He was friendly , helpful and competent . What wasn't so great was the bill ;$125 for a service call , which isn't bad but the $180 charge for parts ( which can be purchased from $17 -$46 ) was ridiculous , way overboard . --------- So , what the bill should have honestly read was : Service call $280 and parts $50 .
