I want to respond to several inaccurate statements in the prior review from my landlord Elizabeth.  Firstly, Zach was the technician who conducted the inspection. He was courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Ian is the owner of the company. From my experience with him in this short while , I've learned he is a family man with astounding integrity. Second, I did not contact this company Cal-View Property Inspections casually or without cause. I reached out because there were serious ongoing concerns in my home, involving exposed walls, abnormal air quality, and conditions that affected my family's health and safety. At the time, children were living in the home, and the wall area had remained exposed for an extended period. The inspection was not the cause of the problem. It was conducted because I needed answers about conditions that already existed inside the unit. The inspection helped confirm that mold concerns were present in the air and on surfaces within the home, including in my daughter's bedroom. After the inspection, I pursued code enforcement. That process resulted in multiple code violations being identified, and repairs were required. My family was displaced as a result of the condition of the home, not because of anything this company created. The statements suggesting improper motive or lack of professionalism do not reflect my experience. I hired this company because I needed an independent assessment, and from my experience they were professional, responsive, and helpful during an extremely stressful situation. We were looking for a home inspection for our one-year new-build home. We found Ian and was drawn to his great price. The initial interaction was great, as Ian was friendly, and addressed any initial concerns we had with our home. Once he arrived, he used a drone to check the roof, thermal camera to check for hidden leaks/moisture, checked breakers, water heater, ac condenser, plumbing, foundation, settlement cracks, and went in the attic. He took photos of everything and notated the issues, and even gave us the report same day. For under 400, it's not bad. Unsure how much different or more detailed other inspectors wouldve been. Ian came down to the Bay Area to do a mold inspection at the request of a tenant. This property is owned by a very elderly woman with dementia, we are trying to sell the property to pay for her care and this tenant is trying to block our ability to do so. Ian opened the door to a room with an active mold remediation in progress (one that has taken awhile due to the rain and this tenant's availability). We cannot understand why he proceeded as the storage room was clearly under construction, the walls were open and the door was to remain shut. And the only reason there were no workers there that day is because it was pouring down rain. You are NOT supposed to do a mold test 1) when it is raining and/or 2) when active remediation is taking place. We called 5 mold inspectors and every single one said they would never have performed a mold inspection and were shocked one was conducted. But Ian had driven all the way down, so we guess he needed to make it worth his while. To make matters worse we received an angry missing from this tenant that Ian told her he had to block our calls as we called him day and night harassing him. We did call to try to get him to explain the test. What mold inspector avoids explaining their methodology and results? 1st time: Ian said he was driving and would call back, didn't. 2nd: called and left a message 3rd: called and tried to get him to explain why he took the teat under those conditions. Ian refused and hung up. That's it, 3 calls but only one actual conversation. The tenant also states that Ian told her she must immediately vacate the premises as "there's toxic mold everywhere!" He denied this, she insists it's true and she is receiving thousands of dollars a week to relocate. Other mold experts who have looked at this test also say it's not true, but this is the Bay Area, California- tenants have more rights than property owners. Shocked to see so many glowing 5 star reviews. Edit: Ian we told you we are paying for the inspection and everything in this review is 100% accurate. Yelp should know this inspection was done on private property without the owner's permission given and we have every right to review a product or service we are paying for. If Yelp needs proof, we are happy to show them the report that is in our possession. The man conducted a mold inspection in a room with open walls that was under construction and people should know that. And then he lied about our communications with him. 2nd edit: I am NOT the landlord. I am simply trying to help an elderly woman with dementia and I have for years, as that tenant well knows. We do not own the property- we don't want anything to do with it, but she is completely helpless. And Ian is the one who took the calls (which were only actually 2, not 3 and certainly not multiple harassing calls "day and night" as he told the tenant). He never stated he didn't do the inspection. And really, all we wanted to know was what was the process, what was the explanation for taking a test when there's active construction and what was his recommendation, all reasonable. I've never seen an inspector so adverse to wanting to help solve the problem. Our questions were simple: which room are you addressing here in this section? What do these numbers mean here? If he doesn't want reviews like this, then I suggest he consider answering the questions from the people who trying to solve the problem. read more

I had Christopher Durell, (goes by Ian) from Calview perform a private inspection for my newly built home in Sacramento (Natomas). I chose to go with Calview because they offered very affordable pricing, very knowledgeable, and responsive to all my questions. This was my first time buying a home and hiring an inspector so I really didn't know what to expect. Luckily, Ian answered all my questions and typically responded right away. Once I decided to go forward with Calview, Ian helped me communicate with the builder (Lennar) and provided all the information and documentation that Lennar requested. All I had to do was provide him the email contact and he worked his magic. Once we were all setup with the appointment, Ian provided me the portal/website information to pay for the service. The portal was very easy to access and easy to process the payment. On the day of the inspection, Ian resolved an issue that came up on his own. He was not able to access the house because the builder forgot to unlock it. He contacted them himself to get it unlocked. Once Ian completed his inspection, he provided me a detailed report of his inspection via the portal within a couple of hours. Inspection details include: Exterior, Roofing, Basement, Foundation, Crawlspace & Structure, Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Electrical, Attic, Insulation & Ventilation, Doors, Windows & Interior, Built-in Appliances, Garage and more. Ian gave me a thorough report on every line mentioned above. He provided me with 3 recommendations of items that I should look into further that involved electrical and garage walls.
