I finally switched dentists after many years. I had been trying to find someone who could provide a simple solution to a painful dental issues. Four other dentists including my dentist of many years all had very involved and expensive suggestions. I had heard about Dr. Kim and was very impressed with his training and education. He solved the problem in less than thirty minutes, it was absolutely amazing, after many years of suffering. Yesterday was my first regular visit for a checkup and cleaning. I went through 3 dentist offices within a 2 year period and just when I was about to give up (because these dentists didn't really care and were trying to suck whatever money they can get from my insurance), I called up Dr. Calvin Kim's office and drove 2.5 hours to see him and his wife Dr. Sonia Kim. They were so patient and good with my young boys, they took their time to care for my family and helped explain my options for my dental plan. Their office was so modern, clean, organized and they had the most advanced equipment. They used modern technology for scheduling, billing, appointment reminders, and I can view my own account online. Their staff are all so friendly and sweet. I am hooked and am willing to drive 2.5 hrs for my dental cleaning; which says a lot! That downside is, not sure if I can ever really be happy if I were to go anywhere else. read more

Super clean and high tech. Everyone was friendly. The new patient appointment included x-rays, cleaning, consultation and fluoride rinse for a great value. I saw Sonia and she was very friendly and even did the cleaning herself. I've been to many old school dentists in Santa Barbara and this was such a nice change. Everything is digital which makes keeping track of your x-rays so much easier (they will even email them to you or another dentist if needed). They also have an optical camera that they use to show you the inside of your mouth and potential problem areas. The only thing I didn't like was the oral hygiene how-to video but it was only 3 minutes. Definitely my best dentist experience in SB. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I had a cavity, so I came back for my second appointment to get it fixed. I had to come back 2 more times after that because I continued to feel sensitivity and pain where Dr. Kim had "fixed" the problem. Each time I went back, he just continued to do the same thing over and over and clearly that was not working. I ended up going elsewhere. It was a huge waste of time and money. read more

I have only positive things to say about this office; from making an appointment to getting my proposed treatment protocol. The office staff were all very friendly and I waited for less time than I expected. I loved my hygienist, she was really nice and listened to my concerns and respected and helped me with my discomfort while getting x-rays. Everyone was very friendly and honest. State-of-the-art equipment and technology - even showed me the inside of my mouth with a tiny camera. 18 x-rays - might be overkill, but no extra charge as it's their standard. Dr. Calvin Kim did the cleaning/polishing and brought me into his office to show me the two small cavities I have. Not pushy - even said I could try brushing with enamel strengthening toothpaste to see if that helps over the next 6 months. I will definitely go back. read more

I took my 3 kids here last week, 7 year old, 6 year and 4 year old. I can not recommend this place highly enough, for kids. All 3 were more or less seen at the same time, the kids had great check ups, and a super happy experience. Wonderful Hygienists, wonderful front desk staff and super dentist. Everybody was super sweet to my children. The hygienist also guided on how best to brush and floss their teeth, now they love the dentist. We were in and out in an hour, and they even squeezed me in for a checkup. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Sonia Kim (she shares Dr. Calvin Kim's office) for a few years now. She is fantastic! I have horrible teeth and absolutely hate going to the dentist but Dr. Kim has a way of calming you down. The office is very high tech and extremely clean. After two years suffering at another dentist's office down the road, I just switched to Dr. Kim. I got an appointment the same week and check in was a breeze with the friendly staff. After the x-rays, Dr. Kim examined my teeth and surprised me by correctly guessing several minor things about my dental history. He was very knowledgeable and attentive to minor details that he noticed on my teeth. They really care about their patient's health here. As others have noted, the dentist actually does the cleaning with assistance from a hygienist. I've never been wowed before by a dental cleaning, but this was a really excellent, meticulous one!
