The drinks were good too. Waves do get choppy so would recommend taking a Dramamine for safety precaution but none of my group took any. They do sell some on board I believe. This cruise gives you great views of the island and the sunset. There's a photographer on board as well that will take pictures (for purchase). The snorkeling cruise on the Calypso was a great way for us to spend a half day on the water while in Maui. The tour is on the larger side, but very well-organized. The crew was knowledgeable, and kept everyone well-hydrated and well-fed during the day. We were able to stop at 2 locations to snorkel -- not at Molokini, as the water were deemed too choppy to safely get in. I appreciated the judgement from the crew regarding this. This was by far one of the best dinner cruises we've been on! The Captain and staff were so nice and accommodating. The whole process of boarding the boat, getting served drinks and dinner, and the cleanup were all very efficient. Drinks and food were absolutely delicious! There was the sweetest young lady performing live entertainment (singing) that took requests and announced birthdays and other celebrations. The ride was so smooth, we got to see whales which was an extra treat! The boat went out exactly on time and returned on time as well. This is not just another snorkeling charter, this is a day trip with Marley, Marley is the resident photographer on this boat. Marley makes memories. He works hard to include everyone and the pictures are professional and stunning. I was skeptical at first but my wife and I are very happy we purchased the photo package up front. We had a wonderful time on our snorkel with Calypso! We originally booked through Viator and had zero issues with reserving our adventure and we even changed the dates around last minute. The Calypso boat is quite large especially compared to other companies who offer similar snorkeling adventures. It is 3 stories, 2 of which are open air decks and the first being the main floor which is covered and a better place for those who are sensitive to motion. The slides are off levels 1 and 2 and definitely add another slice of fun. We chose to sit on the second level deck on the side to get partial shade, but once we got moving you can really walk wherever you want and roam about the boat freely. If having a specific seat is really that important to you though, make sure to get there super early as people started to line up way before boarding time. We also got lucky on our day because the boat holds 160, but was only booked for about 115. The staff was EXTREMELY kind, helpful, and generous. When we boarded we were served a continental breakfast with little pastries and fruit. Their fruit juice was also very tasty. We then started heading toward the Molokini Crater and during this time the staff all came around and gave us our snorkel gear including the scuba masks and flippers. The water can be a littleeee bit chilly when you first get in so we also opted to rent a wetsuit for $10/person. Personally I think those should be included in the experience but oh well. They also have GoPros on board which you can rent for $75 and they include a red filter and underwater light. Luckily we had our own so we didn't have to do that and I think this price is pretty steep. But once you're there, of course you're going to want to capture your memories if you didn't come prepared. If you choose to not rent the GoPro, they also have a professional photographer on board who captures photos of you when you board, on the boat, and in the water. Of course these are all for sale at the conclusion of the trip and I was bummed that they would not just sell me one image from the day, but instead only sell the entire digital gallery from the day for $125. Didn't feel that was worth it for just one image :( We loved going to both the Molokini Crater and Turtle Town! We stopped for a little over an hour at both locations and were told by the staff where to swim to and how to use the gear. Definitely make sure to grab a noodle too! Even if you are a good swimmer, you'll probably get tired after a while. Molokini Crater had lots of small fish including colorful ones and we even saw an eel! Turtle Town appeared to not at first but then we got a chance to see 2 hanging out at the bottom of the ocean and got to swim by one!! Super cool experience. Lastly, the lunch that was served at our second stop was not bad and surpassed my expectations. Pretty good pasta salad and ham sandwich with cookies. You definitely work up an appetite doing all that swimming and it definitely hit the spot! They also sell $3 alcoholic drinks which my husband took advantage of :) read more

Food was mediocre. One of us has dietary issues, but we weren't informed that the only fish option was breaded. Also, this was a our first "dinner cruise", so we expected something a touch nicer rather than a snorkel boat on which they serve food in the evening. If you have a group of people traveling together and wish to have a fun evening eating on the water, then I think this is a good option. We booked our morning Calypso Snorkel trip through our resort. Once boarded we received a breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and sausage. Then off to our first snorkel spot at Molokini. Unfortunately, there were not many fish.When snorkeling, there were 3 crew members in the water serving as lifeguards. With so many first time snorkelers it was nice to have them out there. There was also a crew member taking underwater photos of those wanting a picture. For those brave enough they could jump off the top deck of the boat or use the slide. It was fun to watch. Vegetable trays and dip were out during this time which was appreciated. On our way to Turtle Town we were able to see 2 whales which was the highlight for us. Turtle Town was disappointing. We didn't see any turtles but it was reported there was one sleeping on the floor of the ocean. A nice lunch was served after snorkeling: deli sandwiches. pulled pork,potato salad, 3 bean salad and chips. The bar was great! $2 drinks. Noe makes a great a great Mai Tai! Overall it was a great cruise. However, I do NOT recommend ordering the prime rib as it had more fat than i've ever seen on a prime rib to be honest. I regret not picking another item off the menu for myself and my family. So,we really didn't have an enjoyable dinner. Everything went well. The catamaran was super spacious and clean. The crew was friendly and very attentive. I had the mahi mahi dinner and my hubs had the prime rib, absolutely delish. The salad was already waiting for us when we sat down. Drinks were good too. First of all, I was born & raised on Maui and have been to Molokini numerous times. But this was my keiki first time- they are 6 & 8, along with their cousins who are 7 and 14. They all had a blast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the Calypso's back deck is very kid-friendly, making it super easy for the keiki to get on and off the boat in their gear with little to no help. The only complaint they had was there wasn't enough time given to use the slides and jump deck while at Molokini. It was open for only what seemed like a few minutes and was rushed. By the time we realized it was open, only 2 of the kids got to do the slide. Disappointing, since that's one of the main reasons we booked the Calypso rather than any other boat. For the amount of passengers the Calypso holds, the slides and jump deck should be open longer to make sure everyone that wants a chance gets one. Other than that, great day and lots of fun! read more

We did the Molokini Crater and snorkeling tour and it was awesome. When they say to get there 45 minutes before - everyone actually does - so please do. Boarding the boat is organized and straight forward. We were a group of two and made a bee-line for the front of the boat and managed to grab a seat with a table and a view and also even a bit of shade from the slide. The staff were friendly and the trip was extremely well polished and curated. Breakfast and lunch and the two dollar drinks were delivered quickly and efficiently and were substantive and edible if not gourmet. The snorkeling equipment was clean and good quality. There was a 101 class for people less familiar with snorkeling, and there were staffers acting as life guards on paddle boards. We saw lots of schools of fish, sea urchins, turtles, and even dolphins jumping in the wake in front of our boat! Even if you are a grown up, take time to take the slide off the boat - it's pretty darn fun. read more

Wow, I can't even describe how amazing this snorkel cruise was. It was my first time snorkeling, and the crew was very knowledgeable and reassuring. The captain gave a quick class for the first timers. The entry from the boat is really nice, you do not have to jump off the boat. The crew works so hard to make you feel safe in the water, with several crew in the water ready to assist. The food was great, fresh and healthy options. We snorkeled on Dec. 20, 2025. The reservation process is very straight forward, including the online waivers. They say to get there 45 minutes before departure which isn't necessarily necessary. BUT, and this is a big BUT, if you want an outside seat on an upper deck or in the front of the boat, you will want to be there at the 45 minute mark or earlier. This is especially helpful if you are prone to sea sickness; not being stuck inside. Plus, being in the front and upper decks gives better visibility to whale watching on the way to and from the locations. The one downside of Calypso, which we knew going in, is that there are a LOT of people. When we were at Molokini crater, it was crowded with all the people from our boat. Everyone on the boat was pleasant and helpful. Two in our group had never been snorkeling before and attending the instructional time and found it helpful and reassuring. If you've never been snorkeling, or snorkeling in Maui, I HIGHLY recommend Calypso. read more
