We stopped here for a late lunch on our way home from the Keys. We wanted to go back to Num Thai ( which was fantastic) but they didn't open till dinner time. So we stopped by here instead. Mistake Do not eat here ! The place is in a run down, almost empty plaza -1st flag It's a small, dirty place - almost no other customers there -2nd flag We order 2 of the crispy tuna and 1 gyoza. Gyoza was ok. The crispy tuna was terrible. I kept one because I felt bad sending both back to the kitchen, but the other one we sent back and ordered a crunchy JB roll instead. Waiting a long time , and when it finally arrived- it was beep fried in thick batter. Like they never heard of tempura? She never came back to check on us. And when the bill came, she didn't provide me with a receipt , just the electronic reader with an amount. I asked if I could see the receipt and she pretended she couldn't understand me. I asked if I was being charged for the returned item and was told no. She stayed staring at me to make sure I put a tip before she walked away. Latter, I checked, and I had been charged for the returned item. They also sat us by a curtained off space in the wall with seemed to lead to a storage space in a lived in apartment. Sitting at our table for 50 minutes and have only received water. Not even the miso soup. This is ridiculous. The place wasn't even crowded but as people showed up they appear to be serving the new arrivals first. I am going to chew my arm off before the food comes. Our server was well versed in what vegan was and was able to let me know that the tofu dish I wanted had fish sauce in it but she can ensure they remove it - this was reflected on my receipt and the food was delicious. The vegetables were fresh. I also got a ginger salad and miso soup. The miso soup was one of the best I have had in a while. I was hoping the Thai tea could be made vegan and she said yes they just won't add milk. The Thai tea was authentic and delicious. My friend got curry and was really happy with her food too. Our server was from Thailand and we talked a long time with her about her experience working on a cruise boat and learning about what vegan is. She was so kind and also shared that cha dam yen is common in her country and how she prefers her Thai tea ( Thai tea without milk ). Next time I am in the area I will be back. We came here for dinner tonight. The place is set back in a strip mall and can use a little tlc as it looks a little run-down. We ordered some krab rangoon which could've used more filling. I got the pineapple fried rice which tasted good but was lacking pineapple, shrimp and chicken. Also, we ordered the pho noodle soup with beef, which was not the worst and not the best we ever had. Absolutely terrible customer service by the lady at the front counter. You never speak to a customer like she did. Unprofessional and very disrespectful. We were Told 30mins on our order and it was 90mins because she had to staple a bag shut after it sat on the counter in front of us for 15mins why we waited. Food was cold and bland. With not many Thai restaurant or sushi options around here so this place is just ok. Nice they offer conch sushi since most places don't. Huge sushi rolls with at least 10 pieces but the fish isn't the freshest here. Fish tasted old and the substitute of what they're actually selling. The ginger chicken I had gave me an upset stomach because the chicken was expired. I ate the leftovers which were just the vegetables and took the chicken out and my stomach was just fine so I definitely knew the chicken was rancid. Teriyaki sauce is a runny. Had a business lunch here. My first impression was how plain and apparently dirty the inside was. There were simple tables with zero decor. The entrance door was dirty. The door frame was dirty. The wall was dirty. I was concerned with what I could see. What about what I couldn't see? There was a cloth homemade curtain to a back area where the bathroom was. I could hear the toilet flush! We ordered six different items to have them family style. The waitress got items wrong. She attempted to blame us and insist this is indeed what we ordered. I think it was the result of our poor pronunciation of items and her lack of English. Our bill was pricey for what we had. We ate here more than any other restaurant during our week in Islamorada (three times) and they hit it out of the park every time. Yelp came through for us on this one. J-Dao is located in a shopping complex that includes a grocery store, post office and movie theater among other things. This is a local place and when I read it was loved by the locals, I wanted to check it out. They serve Thai and Sushi. We tried both and everything we had here was excellent. Not a flashy environment, if you're looking for a place to impress somebody. But it has friendly service and exceptional food. Highly Recommended. read more

This truly is a great Thai restaurant in the Tavernier area! It just opened about 2 years ago! We walked in on a Thursday evening without any waiting time! My friends and I ordered a couple of appetizers, Thai lettuce wrap (this was very tasty and had a little sweetness to it) and the spicy tuna roll (the tuna was kind of mushy though)! Then we ordered three entrees to shared between the four of us (plenty to shared): Pad Thai with pork - the noodles were cooked just perfectly and the flavors were outstanding! Pad See Ewe with chicken - this was delicious and the flavor was just right, it had a little taste of sweet flavor! Massaman Curry - oh my, this was the best curry I've ever had! It came with a side of white rice and of course we had to ask for another bowl to finished all the sauces that came with it! This place was great! We weren't sure what to expect since this place has both Thai food and sushi. However we were not disappointed! We shared an appetizer of vegetarian eggrolls which were crispy and not at all greasy. I like spicy food, so I got the drunken noodles, extra spicy. I was surprised that it was made with spaghetti noodles and not the traditional flat rice noodles. Even with the different noodles, it was still amazing. I heard of locals coming here and I had to try it. On a Sunday night I called in for pickup. When I arrived I was met with a bunch of locals dining in. We ordered chicken pad thai (super delicious), chicken fried rice (really good), and the Lucy sushi roll. My only reservation is that the Lucy roll was too small. I also forgot to ask for extra spicy mayo and eel sauce. Everything else was really tasty and good portions. All in all, we were very pleased. I'd like to come and dine in next time. BEST SUSHI EVER. Tried going to Market 88 but it was so windy we decided that was a no go and looked up sushi restaurants... and found the holy grail, J-Dao. Called ahead and they said they could take our party of 5 so right when we got there, we were seated! To start off, their green tea was a deep, rich green and tasted deep + authentic. We also enjoyed their hot sake which really hit the spot on the rainy day we had. Ordered a TON of food... and cleared every dish. Some highlights/recommended orders: 1. Tom-Kha Khai soup was excellently creamy but not heavy. 2. Double rainbow roll was sooooo tasty. ***all their rolls have hunks of fish inside, so you really get the full bang for your buck!!! 3. Yellowtail sushi was melt in your mouth remarkable... that was the last thing that arrived and although we were all full, we ordered another one. 10/10 for this spot - if I could give this more than 5 stars I would. Worst dinner experience in the keys so far Hostages for an hour Myvsons meal came out 40 minutes before appetizers and the other food. Worst pho ever. Why did o javelin to ask for the plate that ces with jalapeños and sprouts etc ...and a dang spoon to eat with after it was in front of me for 10 minutes. Not even hot. Threat was already in it. Probably because it was not hot enough. Noodles were a brick of cold. We watched all the tables that came after us eat and leave...us. still no food. I asked wth. Response. No apologies no discount no nothing. I left more pissed than full. And I'll NEVER GO BACK. if I could give negative 6 stars I WOULD. SMH. I'm soooo mad rn. Food was terrible too. I really hate leaving bad reviews but after my experience I felt compelled to. Ordered pad thai to go from the website, I asked for level 1 spicy. I couldn't eat the food it was SO SO spicy. I called the restaurant to ask for a remake, and the man he told me he made it mild, and said I was out of luck. I had to plead for him to remake it. When I went to pick it up I brought my original dish back. I was treated with such unprofessionalism. I understand mistakes happen and that is why I asked for a replacement, but the rudeness from the staff was shocking. The food isn't bad, but they made a mistake with the dish and handled it poorly. We were greeted and seated immediately as we walked in the door. We ordered warm sake and two waters which came out promptly. We then decided on the Tom yum goong soup and the green mango salad. The Tom yum came out first and was perfect. Just the right combination of heat, lemongrass and fish sauce. Sadly the standards here are not high. Congealed pad Thai noodles are unacceptable. Yes, I expect you to make them fresh for every dish. And while the flavor of the tom ka kai broth was good, I expect something more in my soup than limp chicken and 3 mushrooms. I want to support local businesses, but this one needs to change its ways. Tiny, very clean place located in a shopping mall where you can either go to the movies or buy some pot. Or both. Ordered their Harumaki egg rolls. Crisp and delicious. Their shrimp tempura was not as fluffy and light as I like but it did the trick. The shrimp in ginger sauce was rather good. A couple next to us had ordered the Thai Fried rice and they loved it.
