Over the next two years, we hired two different companies to perform full removal programs. Both claimed they had fully inspected the crawl space and eliminated all entry points. Unfortunately, when the rats came back, neither company honored their warranties. We then hired 3 Step Rodent Proofing. During their inspection of the crawl space, they found and documented with photos all of the entry points they identified and sealed. In addition, the service technician discovered a water leak and showed us exactly where it was located. We would have never known about this leak without the photos he provided. We were shocked that the previous two companies never mentioned the leak, which turned out to be caused by a bad water pipe connection from the previous owners' remodel. After the work performed by 3 Step Rodent Proofing, the crawl space was rat-free. We did not see another dropping around the vents. About a year later, my wife thought she heard noises under the house. I was pretty sure the sound was coming from our HVAC system, but decided it was better to be safe than sorry. I contacted 3 Step Rodent Proofing, and they had a technician out within the week to evaluate the situation. They performed a thorough inspection of the crawl space and the house and found no signs of rats. They also told me to call them back if we saw any droppings or heard any new noises. Based on our experience, they were the only company we worked with that was thorough, documented their work, stood behind it, and remained responsive after the job was completed.

Billing and cancellation policies untenable and rate too high for the service…read more I really wanted to rate this company highly but in the end, the high cost of a very simple service and the lack of clarity around a full year contract fee which was not cancellable was just too much. We had mite and insect issues following a rodent infestation in a basement. The actual service was fine and the staff were friendly and professional; however, $545 included just two visits of 30 minutes each, spritzing some insecticide along the baseboards of our rooms. I could have purchased a few gallons of insecticide from Home Depot with a spritzer and done the same thing for roughly 1/10 the cost. In addition, the original sales person sold me a contract that was ~$200 for an initial visit and $75/mo for ongoing service and said it was cancelable at any time. When I called to cancel a couple months in, I was told that I would still be billed for 10 more months even though I wouldn't receive the service. I was given a second option of paying an additional $340 upfront and the ongoing monthly fees would be canceled. I negotiated this down to $270, but this felt a lot like extortion and I caution anyone going with the agency to be extremely diligent about their contract before finalizing. There are many competitors out there - I'm going with another one next time around.

There has been this persistent smell of rodent urine in one of our closets for literally decades, no matter what we have done. Not any more! I could not recommend Rywen Insulation more highly for rodent control work. We've had rodent control people here before, but never at the level that Rywen takes things to. They put in place genuine long-term preventative measures to keep rats and mice out, not just patching holes. And that has made all the difference. No more smell in our under-the-stairs closet! And, I'm not sure if it is always a part of their service, but they offered us a one-year warranty. Rats and mice did return --- probably due to a contractor leaving our crawlspace door open overnight with the lights on, several times (oops). But Rywen took care of the problem immediately, no questions asked and no additional money requested, for the entire year of the warranty. They aren't cheap. But they are soooo worth it.
