Been here a few times through the years and it's gone downhill. First off, it's a zoo on the weekends (I came in before noon). Lots of pre-made foods available. I also tried foods from their hot bar deli - 2 item combo with carb. Their chow fun was meh and also has lots of cilantro sprinkled in, catfish needed a better sauce and it was spicy while the coconut curry chicken was dry. Their mungbean jelly cake was off - def not as good as the delis in San Jose. The Vietnamese donuts were fluffy though - I enjoyed those. The real gripe is the inefficiency of the whole situation. Multiple people behind the register fulfilling orders and ringing people up. However, instead of having a dedicated person as a cashier and others to grab orders (mainly, sandwich orders), everyone is just running around chaotically. Some people in the back of the line got serviced before us for the hot deli while the cashier lady kept randomly bagging sandwiches while abandoning the entire line that was waiting to pay. What should've taken 10 mins turned into 25 with 15 mins of which just standing there waiting to pay (I was literally the next one at the register and she left me standing there with my credit card for another 7 mins before ringing my order up which was sitting next to the register the whole time). read more

Visited this spot on a Sunday afternoon. There was a line but It went by pretty fast. They have grab and go options before you head to the hot foods to order your food. I ordered 2 bbq chicken bahn mi's, a small pad thai order, and grabbed a bahn beo. It all came out to 28$ which was really good priced! There is no seating inside but its really spacious. This is more of a grab and go type spot. The workers were really nice and we got everything pretty fast. I'll definitely come back to try everything on the menu. read more

I was just here this past Saturday and what this place had to offer was spectacular. This isn't just a deli, it was also like a mini market too. There was all kinds of snacks from Lays chips with unique flavors, Takoyaki crunchy snacks, Pocky, Japanese candy making kits, anything you can find in an Asian supermarket. The workers there are very friendly, and the ambiance includes people wanting their banh mi fix here. My sisters and I got some sandwiches here to eat before we had to embark to my cousin's party. I got a pork belly sandwich with no jalapeños. It tasted super amazing. My sisters got combo banh mi. We also got Takoyaki crunchy snacks and the Vietnamese pandan honeycomb cake. This was the best meal I ate from any restaurant over my birthday week and it was by far the most affordable and humble. A Vietnamese deli with so many options, it's so hard to choose just one thing so I had to get a bunch! From hot foods to deli items on the counter to desserts in the fridge, there is something for everyone. Workers were nice and friendly, and speedy at taking and making orders! Please don't call the authorities, but I think I may have just robbed a sandwich shop. It was an accident, I swear. All I wanted was a sandwich, an honest meal after a long day. Something easy and fast, unchallenging flavors to soothe the ache of comfort food cravings. Indeed, I got precisely that; a glorious banh mi, decked out in crisp pickled vegetables and beautifully burnished lemongrass tofu. In five minutes flat, my order was ready, stuffed to bursting with bean curd still warm from the fryer. I raced home, cradling my treasure close to my chest, like a precious baby swaddled in deli paper. Only after I tore through the wrapping paper and took my first monstrous bite did I realize my potentially larcenous predicament. Checking my wallet, only a few bills were missing. How could that possibly suffice for a full 8 inches of sub satisfaction? Even a prepackaged gas station peanut butter and jelly sandwich would command a 5-spot, at least. I suppose this makes me a fugitive on the run now. I'm neither armed nor dangerous, but I do command a ferocious appetite, so if you ever need a partner in banh mi crime... I have been going to this lovely deli in Oakland's Little Saigon neighborhood since the late 90's. The same friendly family has always owned it, and the Vietnamese deli offerings have always been fresh, flavorful and made with love. For the vegetarians, they make super yummy greens as well as cubed lemon grass tofu and curry tofu, plus vegetarian banh mi sandwiches, among other types of banh mi. A true Oakland staple for a yummy grab and go meal. They open super early at 7 AM, so if you need road snacks/breakfast, this is your spot. They offer a bunch of prepacked food items like banh cuon, spring rolls, rice plates, etc but they have a whole hot foods sections with chow mein, chow fun, fried rice and a bunch of meat entrees to choose from. Their chow fun is pretty good with lots of veggies, and the fried rice is a crowd pleaser. If you're going to get one thing, the chicken is a must. I don't even like 5 spice like that, but theirs is really good! They have banh mi but they're super mid. They're pretty skimp on the fillings, but they did put a good amount of pate for the combo one. Their combo doesn't come with any Vietnamese ham though, so sad. I think if you've never had a really good banh mi, this one is okay, but if you know what a good one is, theirs will disappoint. They also have food made to order, like different pho and noodle soups, rice plates, etc but I've never ordered off menu. At check out, make sure you add a few eggrolls too. They're hot, crispy, and flavorful. They're heavy on the black pepper, with some sweetness from the carrots. They take cash and card but I believe card transactions come with a fee. Cam Huong is BOMB. It had been YEARS since I've gone since this recent visit and their food remains the same: delicious. I love that consistency. I usually call ahead to place my order as I'm on my way over to just park, pay and be out. Parking can be limiting- there is a corner little lot across the street or parking up front or around the corner (get creative). The location is a bit off the corner of International and 7th-- it's no longer a spot you can dine in, it's a straight to the point hole in the wall deli to be in and out.They have a bunch of snacks and drinks available but my usual is the teriyaki chicken banh mi, veggie rolls and chow fun. I also tried their plantain roll this time. It was all really good-super munchies. If you order ahead, stand by the register and let them know you're picking up vs standing in line to order. I've been here many times. I come here during the weekdays when Banh Mi Ba Le is not open. This place is probably the 2nd best banh mi spot on the East Bay. I still prefer Banh Mi Ba Le or places in San Jose. I've had their bbq pork and their vegetarian shredded tofu, both great. I got pad thai because I was curious and it was meh... I'm glad I only paid $3.50 for a small. Their pad thai is missing the tart and sweetness. It just tasted like it was stir fried in soy sauce. I didn't have tamarind paste at home to remake it to make it more authentic. So I stir fried it with a little bit of ketchup and sugar and it tasted more like pad thai. read more

I came here again while visiting a friend in Oakland. Seems like they improved after recovering from the Covid pandemic. The green jelly coconut drink I bought was fresh and the chicken skewer is yummy (only $4.75). The multicolor sweet sticky rice with coconut shreads is also really yummy. Glad to have found a new favourite spot for banh mi that's closer than having to go to San Jose. They offered so many different kinds of food, from prepackaged dishes to hot dishes. They also had an assortment of che to choose from. We each got a che to try. I got the one that was green flavoured by pandan which was delicious! And for banh mi, when trying out new places, we always go with the classic combo - thit nguoi. The banh mi was so good. I loved that they give a generous thick layer of pate and lots of Vietnamese style mayo. Both of which I love lots of when it comes to a banh mi. I have been craving banh mi for awhile so I dropped by to pick up one. I ordered a #6, which was combo with pork roll slices. Staff recommended it when I asked the difference between #1 and #6. They have a lot of other foods and snacks to choose from, but I only ordered the banh mi. I love that they put a ton of pickled carrots/daikon in it. It had ham, pate, pork roll slices, and mayo, as well as the standard cucumber and cilantro. I took out the jalapenos because I'm not a fan of raw peppers. My one thing is that the bread didn't seem fresh, maybe a little stale? I've definitely had better bread from other banh mi places but everything else was great and made for a satisfying bite. The crisp vegetables paired nicely with the meats and spread. I took a look around the store and saw that they have prepared lunch boxes, so I'll definitely be back to try those. I've had my share of Bay Area banh mi's. It's not easy to find a good one. Cam Huong has solid banh mi's. Today we got two banh mi's - bbq chicken and bbq pork (char sui). They were both really good - crispy fresh bread, perfectly crunchy pickled carrots/daikon, generous amounts of meat, but more importantly, the meats tasted moist and flavorful. The bbq chicken was extremely moist with large pieces of thigh meat - I know this chicken is cooked fresh because they make large quantities of them for their plate lunches.
