I did my research and decided to try Camarillo Cupcake for my Daughters 2nd birthday cake. We did a Trolls themed party and really allowed the baker to have artist choice. I just wanted pastels, and have it match my cake topper. They did such a good job! It looked amazing.. I couldn't have asked for a better cake. I had also grabbed 4 cupcakes while I was in there placing my order. I got the Lemon, and white with vanilla and white with chocolate frosting. They were moist, and flavorful and a joy to eat. The Lemon was my favorite. The cake when I picked it up a few days later was no different. We ordered a White Cake with butter cream on the outside, and vanilla whipped cream icing with fresh strawberries in the middle. The icing was a perfect ratio to cake mix, and their was just enough strawberries to know it was in there with out being a strawberry cake. My daughter absolutely loved her cake, she couldn't' get enough, but in all fairness what 2 year would turn down cake, but my guest who can be hard critics, absolutely loved it, and kept asking where I got it. I am living in Massachusetts and was ordering a cupcake off Grubhub for my boyfriend to be delivered on Valentine's Day. However, I accidently ordered it for pick up instead of delivery. Since it was too late to cancel it, I put in a second duplicate order for a cupcake to be delivered. I called to let them know that I accidently had to put in 2 orders and that someone could treat themselves to a cupcake on me because I wouldn't be coming to pick it up. I wanted to try to eliminate confusion on why there were duplicate orders and warn them that no one could pick up the cupcake. The lady responded that it was already packaged, was very irritated, and literally hung up on me before I got to explain why I wouldn't be able to pick it up. I have never been hung up on by a professional and was very offended, so I will not be ordering from here again. I wasn't incredibly impressed with these cupcakes. They were good decent cupcakes but I don't think they standout from any of the other cupcake shops. They are expensive especially if you get a dozen. I came in to get a dozen for a birthday party, the variety was nice many of the flavors didn't live up to the hype. The white chocolate raspberry didn't have much raspberry in it. The Boston cream pie had to much chocolate. And the s'mores cupcake was messy due to the graham cracker bottom. I wouldn't mind coming back here but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We stopped in to Camarillo Cupcake while on vacation. Since we had never been there before, the staff offered some recommendations based on what we like. They were so helpful and we ultimately got the German Chocolate, Cookie Butter, and their Iced Coffee. Everything we tried was amazing! I normally shy away from cupcake shops because the flavor is typically over the top and too sweet. This was not the case with either cupcake we tried. The woman behind the counter/register was cold and rude as if I was bothering her by purchasing. I was as unimpressed with the cupcakes as I was with the rude service. They were pretty dense and 2 were even a bit on the stiff/hard side (white chocolate & salted caramel). The chocolate peanut butter was decent, just way too sweet to eat more then a few bites (and that's saying a lot cause I love sweets!) The woman behind the counter was kind of cold. When I asked how much a half dozen cupcakes were, she really flatly said "20 dollars." She seemed to be counting money or something, and a younger girl got me my cupcakes. I was kind of surprised - since I was the only one there - that when I walked in I wasn't really greeted besides "hi" and once I asked how much a half dozen was, literally neither of them said anything to me, so I really awkwardly said "alright then, well..." and picked my 6 flavors. I tried root beer and vanilla, and literally the only difference I could tell was that one frosting was less sweet than the other. The cakes tasted exactly the same, and the vanilla was way more dense than the root beer. And HOLY CRUD, the vanilla one is SOOOOOO SWEET. It actually hurt my teeth after, no joke, and tasted like they emptied the sugar package into the batch of icing. The root beer literally had nothing special about it, it just tasted like a less sweet version of vanilla. I've been to a few cupcake places like this, and sadly all out of Ventura county, and those cupcakes were HUGE compared to these, which are about standard size or the size you buy at a grocery store. And the flavors were more refined, they didn't just taste like "sugar" which was basically the vanilla one here - you could actually taste the difference from flavor to flavor. Coupled with the average customer service, I don't really know if I'll give this place another shot yet, which is a shame since Camarillo really needed a cupcake place like this. read more

We first encountered Camarillo Cupcake at a Supper Club tasting at the Lodge at Malibou Lake, and after that we didn't even look at any other bakeries for our wedding, particularly once we discovered they could do everything nut free (my husband is very allergic to peanuts). Instead of a wedding cake, we decided to order a spread of mini desserts -- 5 flavors of cupcake (including vegan and gluten-free options), blueberry crumble bars, and chocolate chip cookies -- via a very easy process for a very reasonable price. The desserts were delicious and got almost completely cleaned out by our guests; I was glad there were any leftovers at all for me, honestly.
