I bought four donuts at this establishment this morning. Two of the four donuts each had a long human hair (5 to 7 inches long) stuck to it. One donut contained a blonde or light brown hair. The other donut had a hair that came from a brunette. Photo attached. Enough said.

On top of a donut, all covered with glaze, I lost my whole dollar, and walked away. I have been to a lot of donut shops in the OC. This is your very basic old school local donut shop located in an outdated strip mall housed with gems like Starbucks, Noahs and Roebucks juices in the 805. Fostars display cases were filled with colorful basics; Twists, bars, jelly's, cakes. Thats it. Nothing fancy or fluffy or OMG factored in. After staring at the old school styled treats I ordered the plainest thing, a twist. I handed the nice lady my dollar, and she gave me .15 cents back and I walked away. My twist was a little dry and disappointing. However, there is potential in their donuts. They also sell coffee, chocolate milk, plain milk, sodas, water, ect. The outdoor ambience is pretty nice. Lots of outdoor seating with a beautiful fountain overlooking a few tables. The service was good. The lady behind the counter was nice. I am very spoiled with living in the OC, and feasting on the 2014 style of doughnuts. But Ventura County still holds a special place in my heart. For a basic shop, nothing else, this is okay.

Apple fritter = why was this soggy?!

Yes, it is possible to be sad after eating a donut. Just got one thing, an APPLE FRITTER. It was soft and mushy on the outside, stale and dry inside. Moreover, the entire thing was bland. And because we paid for it, we ate it. I know, it's an unhealthy rationale. Lackluster quality aside, at least the service was very nice. Note that this place is CASH ONLY. Location is in the Ralph's shopping center on the corner of Ponderosa & Las Posas, to the left of Starbucks.

I found this spot online and headed over and Im glad I did. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the owners, husband and wife team who immediately made me feel welcome. They were eager to walk me through the menu, offered great suggestions, and were incredibly patient while my brain was still waking up at 9am lol. Their kindness and humor made me feel right at home. This place also feels homey. If you take a moment to look around, you'll notice the personal touches such as the artwork, photos, and thoughtful details that tell a story of their family. Okay Now to get to the good stuff the drinks and bites are stellar, here's what I got: I finally found a seriously addicting chai here in the 805. I'm very picky about chai, so when Robin insisted "you're trying this" so I listened and I'm so glad I did haha. Freshly brewed, no artificial flavors, perfectly spiced. I think I would dub this one of the BEST chai's I've ever had. 10/10. Their classic breakfast bites hit the spot too. I had a breakfast sandwich with crispy bacon and a fresh egg. Simple but good. I'd get this again but also would be open to trying some of their other bites. 8/10. The handmade bakery section here was unreal. The apple pastry I ordered was pure nostalgia and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more of their daily baked goods. The selection was huge and lots of different options to try. I think their passionfruit pastry will be calling my name next time. Lastly I leave you with a Fun fact: if you're a football fan or into chess, this is your cafe. Chess tables are available for playing at and it's the perfect morning spot to catch matches over coffee and pastries. Liverpool fans especially welcome here ;) Sorry it took me so long to find this spot but they've got a new fan now!

Back then I was younger and on a budget, so I mostly stuck to a few lunch specials and never really explored the rest of the menu. That location has been gone for years, but recently I started going to the Old New York Deli in Camarillo. And now I'm realizing what I've been missing all these years. This is a real, old-school New York Jewish deli and bakery, and I've barely scratched the surface. Let's start with the everything bagels. They're in another class. You really can't compare a good New York-style bagel to something from the grocery store or even most of the bagel shops around here. The chew is different. They're moist, flavorful, and absolutely loaded with everything seasoning. I've been back several times now just to pick up a dozen. I used to think grabbing the double pack of bagels at Costco for six bucks was good enough. Nope. I'm ruined now. These are too good. I'll gladly pay more and actually enjoy the bagel. Then there are the apple turnovers. Astonishing. And the dessert counter is ridiculous. It's overflowing with pastries and desserts, and everything looks like something you want to take home. The staff has also been amazing every time I've been in. And I'm really just getting started. There are blintzes, all the deli classics, and a whole menu I somehow ignored when I was younger. Corned beef and pastrami are very high on my list for the next visit. My only disappointment is realizing I could have been enjoying this place for the last 25 years. I'll be back many, many, times.

Since we were already starving, we pivoted and just ordered drinks and baked goods. The drinks: I got the White Chocolate Mocha and it was delicious, perfectly sweet and smooth. My husband tried the Blended Mocha and said it was just okay (nothing special). The baked goods: The banana slice was really good, moist and flavorful. My husband grabbed the M&M cookie, but it definitely wasn't freshly made. It was still decent, just not amazing. On the plus side, we had no idea this bakery was so close to where we live! We'll definitely be back to give their breakfast and sandwiches a try, just next time we'll come with more patience and more time. Bottom line: Great drinks, good pastries, but factor in a long wait if you're ordering hot food. Worth a second chance for the full menu!
