    I love the cream puffs

I Recommend this donut shop. I love it. I love their cream puffs.Good to come with any family friend

On top of a donut, all covered with glaze, I lost my whole dollar, and walked away. I have been to a lot of donut shops in the OC. This is your very basic old school local donut shop located in an outdated strip mall housed with gems like Starbucks, Noahs and Roebucks juices in the 805. Fostars display cases were filled with colorful basics; Twists, bars, jelly's, cakes. Thats it. Nothing fancy or fluffy or OMG factored in. After staring at the old school styled treats I ordered the plainest thing, a twist. I handed the nice lady my dollar, and she gave me .15 cents back and I walked away. My twist was a little dry and disappointing. However, there is potential in their donuts. They also sell coffee, chocolate milk, plain milk, sodas, water, ect. The outdoor ambience is pretty nice. Lots of outdoor seating with a beautiful fountain overlooking a few tables. The service was good. The lady behind the counter was nice. I am very spoiled with living in the OC, and feasting on the 2014 style of doughnuts. But Ventura County still holds a special place in my heart. For a basic shop, nothing else, this is okay.

Apple fritter = why was this soggy?!

Yes, it is possible to be sad after eating a donut. Just got one thing, an APPLE FRITTER. It was soft and mushy on the outside, stale and dry inside. Moreover, the entire thing was bland. And because we paid for it, we ate it. I know, it's an unhealthy rationale. Lackluster quality aside, at least the service was very nice. Note that this place is CASH ONLY. Location is in the Ralph's shopping center on the corner of Ponderosa & Las Posas, to the left of Starbucks.

If you have cash on you and a sweet tooth you have to stop at Fostars. If you don't have cash on you , don't worry, go around the plaza to an atm because the charm of this small family own business is that they do not take cards. Their bavarian and bear claw donuts will blow your mind so make sure to get there early while they are peak freshness.

twist and chocolate cake can be yours for $1.30.

The doughnuts are glittering gems in the display. The assortment of frosted cake doughnuts are so colorful and tempting looking. But I usually get the glazed twist or the glazed old fashioned. Always good, sometimes a little oily tasting, so I give them a solid 3 stars for those pretty pretty doughnuts. Price for 1 glazed twist and 1 chocolate frosted cake doughnut: $1.30. Hardly had to dig deep for that. The extra star is for being a mom and pop business with a friendly woman behind the counter, and for there being a lush oasis of a raised planter and fountain just outside. I've never seen such a nice arrangment of greenery and cascading water outside a stripmall anywhere else in Camarillo. I uploaded a picture of it! Fo' stars for Fostar's. While I'm stuffing the doughnut in my mouth, I make sure I am staring straight at the smoothie and health food cafe across the street, so I can feel extra indulgent. Life is short, eat doughnuts first.

My boyfriend brought me here on a beautiful Saturday morning (February 21, 2026 at 10:15 AM), and the weather was perfect -- which made the experience even better. The line was very short, and we were greeted right when we walked in. As we were admiring all the bakery items, it became our turn to order. The staff member at the counter was friendly and welcoming, and everything moved quickly and smoothly. The place itself is extremely clean, well-lit, and inviting. The display of desserts was impressive -- so many gorgeous options! They also offer custom cakes that we're already considering for our next celebration. The prices are very comparable to places like Whole Foods that are known for baked goods, but I genuinely feel the quality here is even better. Plus, you can walk in and out without dealing with big crowds or long waits. It feels good supporting local businesses -- especially as our community continues to grow and more people are looking for "mom and pop" spots instead of large chain stores. I've already sent videos of their dessert selection to family and friends, and I'm planning to place a cake order soon. I would absolutely recommend this bakery to anyone looking for quality pastries, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

What should I expect from snobby Camarillians selling over priced baked goods? The quality has gone down significantly here and it's obvious why. When I was there, it was mid afternoon (before closing) so it was calmer all around. I love their pastries, but the recent price increases do make them a luxury item. It's a casual & cute cafe that always hits the mark and we love seeing their growth all over the 805. I stopped in for an iced matcha and decided to try something new and I'm so glad I did. Huge kudos to Ashley for recommending their breakfast crepe (not something I'd normally order, but WOW was it good). BREAKFAST CREPE: A fluffy crepe filled with soft, melty brie, eggs, bacon, arugula and tomatoes, absolutely delicious and so well balanced. I'd get this again in a heartbeat. 10/10 ICED MATCHA: Washed it all down with a sweet iced matcha, just how I like it...lightly sweet, a little creamy, and still packing that earthy matcha flavor. 8/10. Definitely a great location in the heart of old town camarillo. Nice staff, clean interior, cozy vibes and good food.

I found this spot online and headed over and Im glad I did. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the owners, husband and wife team who immediately made me feel welcome. They were eager to walk me through the menu, offered great suggestions, and were incredibly patient while my brain was still waking up at 9am lol. Their kindness and humor made me feel right at home. This place also feels homey. If you take a moment to look around, you'll notice the personal touches such as the artwork, photos, and thoughtful details that tell a story of their family. Okay Now to get to the good stuff the drinks and bites are stellar, here's what I got: I finally found a seriously addicting chai here in the 805. I'm very picky about chai, so when Robin insisted "you're trying this" so I listened and I'm so glad I did haha. Freshly brewed, no artificial flavors, perfectly spiced. I think I would dub this one of the BEST chai's I've ever had. 10/10. Their classic breakfast bites hit the spot too. I had a breakfast sandwich with crispy bacon and a fresh egg. Simple but good. I'd get this again but also would be open to trying some of their other bites. 8/10. The handmade bakery section here was unreal. The apple pastry I ordered was pure nostalgia and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more of their daily baked goods. The selection was huge and lots of different options to try. I think their passionfruit pastry will be calling my name next time. Lastly I leave you with a Fun fact: if you're a football fan or into chess, this is your cafe. Chess tables are available for playing at and it's the perfect morning spot to catch matches over coffee and pastries. To me, that is what pound cake is supposed to be: simple, flavorful, comforting, and made with care. LEMON IN THE TITLE (NO SO MUCH IN THE CAKE) Unfortunately, the lemon pound cake I purchased today for over $15 did not come close to that standard. The color, flavor, and dense, bready interior all pointed to a missed opportunity. I was especially disappointed that the lemon flavor lacked brightness. There was no real sense of lemon zest in the cake or icing, which is what gives a lemon pound cake its character and lift. ICING - EPIC UNDERPERFORMANCE The icing also fell flat. Instead of tasting like a thoughtful glaze or cream cheese-style icing infused with lemon, it came across more like powdered sugar and water sitting on top of the cake. It checked the box visually, but it did not enliven the cake or the senses. NO FUTURE SALE HERE (UNLESS THE PRODUCT IMPROVES) For $15, I should have been excited to come back for another one and maybe pick one up for a friend. Sadly, that was not the case. I would love to see this store put more care into honoring the pound cake tradition with excellence, because pound cake lovers know the difference.
