Our child goes to the summer camp here and loves it, the counselors are great. But we had issues with the camp director. They were unresponsive and didn't return most messages (phone or email). We had issues getting our billing corrected despite claims that it was fixed. Update (7/15/2025): I received an immediate response from YMCA and our billing was corrected promptly. I was soo excited about getting Private swim lessons for my little. But it turns out that they are not very inclusive when it comes to littles with special needs. Only offering 30 minute windows for swim lessons and no free swim before or after. I was told by one YMCA that we could double up on two thirty minutes but this YMCA were we already purchased 17 swim lessons will not allow that. I can NOT take my super sweet child and put him in a pool for less that 30 minutes and then make him get out and leave. SOrry my guy, once again you have to go... All whilst watching others have fun. If they had employees who understood this kind of thing, maybe this wouldn't be an issue. And in all honesty. Even neurotypical children would find this difficult. What a bummer. Guess we have to take the loss and find somewhere else to go that actually has swim instructors with special needs experience and understanding... read more

It is expensive. There is no air-conditioning, machines breakdown a lot, and it takes forever to fix them. I've seen people constantly not cleaning machines and I've said something to the staff and they do nothing about it. It's gross. One of the bikes has had a crack seat for months. read more

I have been to many gyms and private trainers. The Camarillo YMCA is BY FAR the best gym I have ever attended. The staff is knowledgeable, concerned about form and safety, the equipment and all areas are clean, staff friendly. Their focus is on youth, families and seniors, not just on one specific group. The Silver Sneakers classes are the best. I love the instructors' focus on form and not getting injured. Deanna, Kathy and Sara are THE BEST and Paula makes me laugh, they all KNOW exercise and physiology. All instructors are very approachable, positive, professional and no question is stupid. Their swim program is five star. I love coming here. read more

It's great you can swim with no time limit as long as others aren't waiting. The temperature is warm so even on a cold and windy day you'll warm up quickly. It does get hot in the afternoon so wear plenty of sunscreen. Also they do a great job keeping the water clean and the pool is covered during the night. The lifeguards are friendly and helpful. The gym is pretty robust with free weights, machines and cardio has its own room. I have not fully explored it yet. The customer service is top notch. The experience from the lobby throughout the facility has good flow. The membership fee is worth it and better than most commercialized facilities. read more

Really like this YMCA. My son goes here for swim classes on Saturday morning and the pool is heated so he's not too cold when he's going in. Always clean and there are benches to sit and watch your kids during class. The locker rooms have shower with shampoo and body wash which the water gets nice and warm so he loves it right after swim class. The teacher was kind and can recommend a new class if your kiddo is more advance than what you sign up for. read more

My oldest has been with the YMCA since the beginning of the year for the before and after school care in the Rio school district. When he gets out of school he is picked up from his class. He loved being there after school and would be upset at time if I picked him up early. He really likes the staff and they communicate daily if there are any issues or if my son was have a bad day. For summer I decided to sign up both my boys for splish splash camp and they love being at the pool. my boys also have a slight speech delay so it can be difficult for adults to understand them but, my boys have connected greatly with the staff and they seem to understand them. My boys always come home talking about what they did with their favorite councilors Mr Jacob, Mr Marcos, Mr Eddy and miss Salma. Mr Adrian has also been very helpful when it came to signing the boys up for after school care and the summer camps they are attending. If I have any question he responds back promptly. I feel the staff values my concerns and reassures me they are in good hands. If there is any issue the councilors approach me professionally and respectfully. Money well spent! read more

i have just returned from a trip that required miles of walking in relatively rough terrain. it is only because of the Channel Islands YMCA classes that I am in the condition required to participate in these activities. Outside of the physical training, from strength to balance, the instructors and staff have built my confidence enough to even attempt taking the challenge. When the travel group asked (repeatedly) how I stayed in shape I proudly (and loudly) told everyone what the Y has done for me. I only hope that when they return to their respective homes (Texas, Illinois, etc) that their YMCA lives up to the standards of the Channel Islands site. The YMCA at Village at the Park is very special to me. I am there multiple times a day. From picking up my kids to dropping them off at childcare. Mr. Sebastian and Mr. Cameron are amazing because they are very detail oriented and perform far superior than any other location. My kids always talk about them and the good times they have there. The gym facility is very clean and not too busy. The ladies at the front desk are always very welcoming, courteous, and always very hospitable. During the Fall of 2020, I became a member of YMCA Camarillo through the Silver Sneakers program in order to use their gym facilities. I started using the weight room three times per week and found all the resistance training and cardio equipment I needed. I was pleased to find the gym, the exercise machines and the treadmills were kept very clean and always accessible. During 2021 a friend and YMCA member recommended that I sign up and start participating in the exercise classes offered in the mornings. I started by showing up at the Body Pump class on a Tuesday. Coach Deanna let me in the class and explained participation is limited in number so in the future I should sign up in advance through the YMCA website. Coach Deanna is very friendly and encouraging. She makes the Body Pump class more like a personalized training camp with lots of individualized instruction. I have gained strength, flexibility, endurance and added muscle while losing body fat. I love Deanna's class and consistently attend YMCA Body Pump twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Later I started attending the YMCA Zumba class that immediately follows Body Pump in the same room on Fridays. Coach Aurora is very friendly and her class on Mondays and Fridays is energized fun. Aurora is an impressive outgoing person that supports various community service projects. She knows every class member by their first name and is well liked by all her students. For the past six months I have also been participating in the YMCA Cycle (spinning) Class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I walked into the Cycle class to check it out even though I had never previously learned how to ride a bike. On my first day Coach Brenda helped set up the bike for my size and gave me individualized instruction to get me started. She pays close attention to all her students, watching them and calling out encouragement to each by name. The class is great cardio exercise and it has really strengthened my core and lower body. The back pain that used to shoot down my leg is now gone. This class is awesome fun and is always full so it is important to sign up through the YMCA website in advance. All of the classes at the YMCA are fun and worthwhile. The instructors put so much of themselves into every class. They care about every student and are true professionals. the YMCA is a great place to get fit and stay fit with new friends. read more

We use the y for all of our child care needs. I love that they always have care available for those weird school days off that puts parents in bind. You would think my kiddos would be sick of the everyday after school, but my littlest always says "5 more minutes please!". I went with my family tonight to work out (June 25.) the lady who closed for 8:00 pm was really rude and treated us as if we were unauthorized to use the facility. We were on the machines and had a valid 24 hour pass and she just started yelling at us in the middle of my workout. extremely rude and unprofessional to not even try to get our attention before yelling at me and my family. read more

Great after school and summer camp program for the kids. The staff is truly caring, fun, and interactive with the kids. They make it a point to know all the kids by their name, learn their likes/dislikes. I go to the Camarillo YMCA every day. I either take a circuit training class with Shannon, or a body pump class with Deanna. I also swim every day but Sunday when it is closed. The pool is always very clean, and the lifeguards are attentive and well trained. The teachers in the classes are knowledgeable and caring. I especially like the unique teaching of Shannon in her circuit training. We never know exactly what's going to happen, but we always get a full body workout. She explains in detail each movement, and she also lets us know why we are doing what we are doing. I have belonged to gyms most of my 76 years, and the Camarillo YMCA is by far my favorite. The charge per month to belong to the Y is very reasonable also. read more
