I've had my diamonds switched before by a jeweler that was in Ventura years ago ANYWAYS. I'm trying to be cool and say do you have a diamond tester machine? It registered diamond but I noticed that the machine clearly says diamond/moissanite on the machine. I asked for another test and the diamond "pen" registered it as moissanite also. The jewelers that were working both said they think it's diamond that I shouldn't be worried about anything. My sales associate suggested I come back again and talk to Robert and he will help me look at my new earrings to make sure everything is ok. What about this is even normal? No human or technology could put me at ease that my earrings /diamonds were in fact mine??? Normally I would just refer to the laser engraving on the girdle of the stone but I chose a bezel setting and it covers it. This shouldn't happen, this is literally their job. Lastly I noticed that on my receipt it says I paid credit card and I paid cash.

A staff member confidently told me (IN FRONT OF MY BUYER) that my IGI-certified 4CT lab-grown diamond was fake and "for sure Cubic Zirconia", even after I demonstrated the paperwork. After more staff members took a look, they come back to confirm it WAS actually a lab diamond (like I tried to explain!) That level of contradiction is beyond unprofessional and completely destroyed trust in the middle of a sale. On top of that, they tried to quote me around $3,000 to "rebuild" the ring because the band is thin, which felt wildly inflated. However, another person on the floor was much kinder and explained that this was due to the professional grade. Either way, she was much more informative than the other person that did not know the difference between a CZ and a diamond. This was embarrassing, frustrating, and handled terribly. I would not trust their judgment. Get a second opinion somewhere else.

They took the ring to the back so their jeweler could inspect it and prepare a repair estimate. Within just a few minutes, the jeweler had straightened the center stone, repositioned and tightened the prongs, and fully assessed the ring's structural integrity. Their verdict? No new setting was needed. The asymmetry was minor and fixable, the stones were secure, and they had even cleaned the ring. Then they told me there was no charge. What?! They repaired my ring for free and, in the process, talked themselves out of a potential sale. That level of honesty and integrity is rare. It is clear that Van Gundy is focused on building long-term relationships with clients rather than making a quick sale. I will absolutely be returning for future jewelry needs. 10/10 recommend.
