She informed us that because the dish had already been prepared, I would have to pay for both the meal I did not enjoy and any replacement meal I ordered. I was genuinely surprised by this response. Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I understand that guests sometimes try new items and discover they simply are not to their liking. In my experience, restaurants often try to accommodate those situations to ensure customer satisfaction. If this is the restaurant's policy regarding refunds or exchanges, it should be clearly communicated to customers. Policies like this should not come as a surprise after an issue arises. Transparency goes a long way in creating a positive customer experience. The waitress then spoke with her manager and returned with an alternative solution. She said they would provide two chicken skewers at no charge, but I would still be responsible for paying for the original meal. What made this even more confusing was that the original plate included rice and salad, while the replacement consisted only of two skewers. If the restaurant was willing to replace the meal, I do not understand why a full replacement plate was not offered. It also did not make sense that I was expected to pay for a meal I did not enjoy while only receiving a partial replacement to take home. The waitress became noticeably less friendly, and both she and another employee seemed rude when I went to pay my bill.
