Small family owned just on the edge of downtown (Eastside). Five minute walk into town. I had no issues with checkin, the room, or checkout. The room was clean, hard wood flowers, bed was good, and everything in the bathroom worked. They have an outdoor grill and few tables where you can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. I would have no hesitations staying here again.

    Dog friendly hotel in Cambria

Perfectly located and walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on Main Street, Dog Friendly, easy check in and friendly staff, big clean rooms with wooden floors, good tv, AC in rooms, parking right in front of the rooms, lovely outdoor garden space to hang out and enjoy the fresh air (bbq avail too) ~ A great deal for a road trip stop, or a relaxing get-away trip to Cambria

A beautiful rainy morning in Cambria.

We had a group of eight motorcycle riders on a tour up the coast. The Cambria Palms Motel has been recently remodeled. It is small and quaint. They took very good care of us. The property and rooms are clean and inviting. We are hoping we can get back there sooner than later.

This place is horrible and will buckle and dime you for all they can. We booked the reservations and put the correct number of people on the reservation and he asked why we needed a king bed and when she responded her husband was staying also he said there was an extra fee for that even though we booked it with everyone included. We also had a pet and the hotel was "pet friendly" and charged another fee for a small dog staying in a cage and said if the dog barks there will be additional fees so made us book a suite away from people. All in all, all his "fees" doubled the amount that we initially paid. I would stay far away from this motel and the inside was disgusting. The sheets had stains and there were mold in numerous places of the room. We couldn't have left fast enough.

I really enjoyed my stay here! A quick night in Cambria on a trip down to LA meant I didn't want to go bananas paying for an ocean view room, I just needed a bed and a roof. In a very touristy town, I was grateful to find such a cool and affordable little spot. A wonderful location close enough to downtown to walk, but also removed enough to feel quiet and private. I was there on a Sunday night so it may have been more quiet than usual. I made one little request to be in a room that didn't share walls with anyone since attendance was low and I was accommodated no problem, I slept like a baby. Understand that for such an affordable room in a spendy town, you're getting the basics, but I loved the sort of road trip chic of the hotel's simplicity. A bed? Yep! Not the coziest but at the end of a long driving day it was just fine. No central air but on a September night the ceiling fan took the edge off the slight evening warmth. A comically cozy bathroom (the door to the bathroom kept smacking me on the knees or on the back depending on my activity), and finding wall plugs for my hair tools got me into some silly poses trying to utilize light and mirrors. But if you want to save money, you go with the flow. And that I did, all around! If you're just passing through town, this is a great option. A short walk to the best restaurant in town (if you skip Robin's, you're only cheating yourself), and a simple cozy place to call home for the night. I for one loved my stay!

We needed a last minute reservation to come up to the Cambria area to check out some investment property. This was one of the only reasonably priced places left with availability and whilst we aren't usually "motel" stayers we decided to roll the dice as it was only for one night. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean the room was and comfortable the beds were. It's also just a 3 minute walk to the beginning of the downtown area of Cambria where all the restaurants and shops are. We were able to walk to dinner and morning coffee. We had our Boxer staying with us as well as this place is pet friendly ( they charge $15 per night for 1 dog $20 for 2) there is a little sitting garden across from the rooms to have a glass of wine and walk your dog too. Overall this place is really good value for a no-frills but comfortable and safe place.

Really enjoyed the complimentary wine with ocean view and one of my biggest reasons for booking it was due to they accept dogs, which says a lot about an establishment. That being said, there are areas for improvement. When I checked into my room, I noticed that the the dark blinds were stuck so I went to the office to see if they could help. The manager came to my room; tried to lower them and agreed they were stuck. She said she would ask the maintenance person to fix it. A day went by and nobody came by. I was awoken to a bright room early in the morning so my sleep was cut short. I went back the office and the same manager welcomed me with "yeah, what's up"? I highlighted that nobody came by to fix it and she seemed pretty indifferent but said she would request it again. Needless to say, nobody showed up to fix it during my whole stay so I was greeted with shortened sleep thanks to the bright room in the mornings. While I was checking out, I highlighted this to the new manager and she laughed it off, saying that's why she brings blindfolds when she travels. No discount offer or anything. Furthermore, their door key cards are the most sensitive I have ever encountered. I had to have them reprogrammed 3 times during my stay. Also, the owner apparently requested that they close the wine tasting early due to rain so, when I showed up to use my complimentary wine vouchers, I found it closed over an hour earlier than their posted closing time but the server did provide me with the complimentary wine since I was a guest but they were no longer offering food so no marinated olives and nuts to go with it. That being said, the Inn does have a great location; is a value and I love that it is dog-friendly but they do need to work on their customer service. Oh and some more Vegan options and recycling/compost bins would certainly help.

We enjoyed our stay and all the front desk employees were extremely polite, helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean. The fireplace is easy to use and extremely effective. However, I would like to make a few suggestions on how to improve the experience of staying at Moonstone Landing for all your guests: First, please provide your guests with 3-ply, SOFT toilet paper. The cheap, one-ply toilet paper this hotel uses was horrible to use. If you're asking guests to pay premium prices for these rooms then at least provide them with decent toilet paper. Second, please consider investing in NEW, comfortable outdoor patio chairs with accompanying foot rests. The chairs you have now feel cheap and uncomfortable. Third, I would jazz up the "average" continental breakfast. It's the one thing hungry guests look forward to every morning and the pastries provided leave one underwhelmed and still hungry. Linn's cheese danish pastries are delicious but the other two muffins were "meh". The boiled eggs are fine. I think adding a variety of cereals would be appreciated. Maybe provide granola bars? Fourth, I know renovations are costly. But at some point you'll have to redo the stone flooring in all the bathrooms as the long cracks in the stone initially make a bad impression. Again, we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel. As a long-time patron, I'm offering my insights in the hopes you'll make the necessary changes to stay competitive and continue to draw in new guests.

This property is owned by a company that owns at least four other properties on Moonstone Beach, and shares with them poor customer service. Examples from a recent stay include Wi-Fi that was frequently nonfunctional, and when complaints were made, we were told either that the problem couldn't be fixed, or couldn't be fixed until the next day because no maintenance staff were available. The rooms, lack decor and character, although the bed was very comfortable. When we asked that the waste baskets be emptied at the beginning of the day, we were told that since we did not make that request the night before, it could not be accommodated because of insufficient custodial staff. When I made this request to the manager on duty, she gave me a look as though I had asked her to donate a kidney. We emptied the baskets ourselves. The property has two fire pits, both of which were essentially nonfunctional. Also, the pool was closed. When they ran our credit card on check-in, they actually immediately charged the entire fee for the stay at once. This is an unusual practice, since most similar properties assess the actual charges for the room at checkout. If you were looking for a place to sleep, steps away from the boardwalk on Moonstone Beach, this will fit the bill, but there are a number of better options steps away from this property.
