After contacting CANON about the repair of my camcorder, and getting nowhere, I contacted Camera Repair Center (CRC). Now I was skeptical about sending my expense camcorder across country but I was not going to buy a new product as CANON was unwilling to repair one of their products. So I shipped my camcorder to CRC. I followed their instructions and was given an agreeable cost to repair and clean the product. Again I waited to hear from them and once they gave me dates for repair I was more confident in their follow through. The only glitch with CRC came when they requested another payment. Now this was immediately fixed as their accountant had deposited the check I mailed. I must say by paying by check did afford me a discount from CRC. Thanks. I even paid for it, but when I called them they said they lost the camcorder. So now I have no camcorded plus I have lost a couple of hundred dollars despite calling them and emailing them. I wish I found these reviews first before sending in my expensive D750.... Everything the negative reviews say is true. Timeline of events: - 9/6: Estimate repair for shutter unit replacement, $212. Cool, as it was the cheapest estimate by far, I decided to send my camera in - 9/10: Camera was delivered to their facility - 9/16: No email update, so I sent them a message to confirm they got my camera - 9/17: Reponse "We have received your equipment for evaluation and repair. Your equipment has been examined and it was found the shutter unit mechanism assembly and mounted circuit board requires replacement. Cleaning the unit inside and out as well as re-calibrating and re-aligning it to factory specifications.The final repair cost is $398.00" WTF, almost a $200 jump from the original estimate?? I understand estimates are not always accurate without examining first and they already have my camera, so I went forward with the repair. If you pay with check or Zelle instead of CC, you get $20 off, so that's what I did. I paid the same day and was told the estimated time of repair was 5-7 business days. - 9/30: Almost two weeks go by with no update at all so I sent another message to inquire. Response "Unfortunately due the Covid 19 event a part(s) is on backorder for your work order. The ETA is 10/7/2020" At this point, frustration was starting to build. Why is no one emailing me to let me know about these delays?? - 10/15: STILL NO UPDATE ON MY CAMERA so I reach out again. Response "We regret to inform you that the part(s) we ordered order is on back order. First and foremost, we want to apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause you. I email again to ask when I will be getting my refund. Response: "Nikon updated us with the parts ETA and we upgraded it to expedited shipping so we can receive it today. We repaired the unit today and it is being shipped off. We were not able to cancel the order. We do not have control of the shipping date with Nikon and its had exceed the date by the time you notified us you would like to cancel. " When I asked about their policies I received an aggressive email response of "Please read entire email." with the following section highlighted, made bold and in a larger font: "If additional defects are discovered upon inspection, a revised estimate will be email to you for your review and authorization, we will not proceed with the repair without the approval. we do not charge for repair estimate." Given that several people have reported that the business "discovers" additional defects without even looking and then charge costs allegedly stemming from the manufacturer I have all the evidence I need for not sending my camera here for repair. read more

I sent my Canon G7X Mark ii in to be cleaned after I was quoted $82 for "sensor cleaning, cleaning the device inside and as well as re calibrating and re-aligning it to factory specifications". After almost 6 weeks of no communication, I send a follow-up email requesting an update, and receive a response that the service is now $239.26. I responded that "I was estimated $82 for censor cleaning, re-calibrating, and re-aligning it. I don't require any parts to be replaced" and received the excuse that "if additional defects are discovered upon inspection, a revised estimate will be email to you", which seems to be a method of extorting more money. I stated that I did NOT request any additional service and just wanted to have the censor cleaned, which was ignored and followed up with a "discounted" estimate of $191 if I paid using a payment method I was uncomfortable with. I reiterated and insisted that I was not asking for a repair, and asking for a cleaning (which was my initial service request and estimate), and waited over 2 weeks again with no response. Frustrated that my time and money were wasted, I asked for my equipment back. I was sent an invoice for $61.85, to which I responded "Before I pay for anything, I'd appreciate if the request that I have asked MULTIPLE times and not received an answer for would be answered, which is that I would like to pay for a cleaning and not a repair. I understand an inspection encountered a technical issue, but I would like to know if I am able to pay for just a sensor cleaning, which is what I sent the camera in for and was quoted the original amount for." I received the response that "We already cleaned the sensor but it didn't solve the problem." I paid the invoice and received no confirmation of shipping, tracking number, etc and was ignored after requesting information. After receiving the camera, and attempted to turn it on, the device did not function. The lens does not retract, and an Lens Error message is displayed, causing the camera to shut down. Additionally the spinning dial that functioned originally was now jammed. My camera was returned to me damaged and completely inoperable, absolutely NOT the condition the camera was sent, which was working normally. I emailed the company: "I'd like to pursue contact on my service. I sent in my camera for a cleaning, and after weeks of communication failure and follow-up, was incessantly pushed to make "repairs" that I do NOT ask for and continually refused, despite repetitive insistence of "If additional defects are discovered upon inspection, a revised estimate will be email to you". Upon finally receiving my camera back months after sending it in, my camera now has a "Lens Error", where the lens is not properly functioning and retracting. The camera does not work now at all, and was fully functional upon sending in. I will remind once again that I sent the camera in to be cleaned, as was the initial contact and request for quote. Upon refusing unnecessary services, I was still charged an insulting "inspection fee", therefore forcing me to pay to waste my time and damage my camera. I expect a follow up communication for this situation. The dial on the body of the camera does not work as well. This "repair" of my camera has been borderline negligent." The company responded: "We stand behind our services. We provide a warranty for all the equipment repaired by Camera Repair Center. If you experience problems with your item please bring it back or ship it to us and it will be fixed at no charge." This offer was likely (in my opinion based on my experience) an excuse to scam additional monies justified as additional "services" that were not covered under the promise of "fixed at no charge". I emailed back: "I would like a refund for the service I was provided and insultingly charged for. Shipment fees and "inspection" charge included. My camera was returned to me in non-working order after it was sent in for a requested (and quoted) cleaning. I will not pay for any additional services, fees, or shipping. This "warranty" has no weight after the experience I've had (that has very closely resembled an absolute scam), and the disinterest to communicate, take accountability, and rectify this, despite my repetitive frustrations and concerns, has been truly pathetic. Hopefully a follow-up will make amends, because I have so little trust that this will be resolved in my favor." I received no response to this email. I disputed the amount I was paid through Paypal, and only then did they respond, reiterating and copy/pasting information that I had already received about nonrefundable inspect. This company took no accountability or empathy for their poor service and communication, not acknowledging the accusations of my camera being returned in non-working condition, and had the most disrespectful poor customer service I've experienced. I dropped and broke my favorite lens (a Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L IS USM lens) that runs for over $1,200 even though it's old. Too expensive to replace since I'm retired. I thought I could do without it and tried for a few months but I just had to have it fixed. It took me forever to find someone who would repair it! The Camcorder Repair Center specializes in this lens, so I took a chance and mailed it from Tennessee to California. It was worth it! I mailed it on November 8, 2023, and they promptly emailed me an estimate two days later. The power diaphragm and mounted circuit board both had to be replaced. $369.26. It wasn't until after Christmas that I sent them my approval. Two weeks after my approval, on January 15th, they emailed that the repairs had been completed and gave me several options for payment. I used their Paypal link and paid by credit card. (They also accept checks! Who does that?) They cleaned the lens, recalibrated and realigned it, and sent it back in a well-packed box which I had to sign for. It even had the same lens caps that had my markings on them! My lens works beautifully now - just like new! I highly recommend Camcorder Repair Center in Glendale. They did me right! (and they didn't even ask me for this review!) read more

I shipped my Sony camcorder to Camerarepair.com because my tape got stuck inside. They claim they repaired it and installed new parts... AND transferred the contents of my tape to a flash drive. They shipped my camera back WITH the TAPE STILL STUCK INSIDE AND still with the same problem! How can they transfer the contents of the tape if it is still stuck!!!???? I requested an RMA and prepaid shipping labels since I had to pay for the shipping initially. They emailed back that the label would be emailed in 24 hours. It took almost a week to get and only because I requested a refund. If product was sent back exactly the way it was initially sent.. and claim they changed parts and transfer contents to flash... and charged me extra by the way for the "flash drive" you must refund since no service was performed. read more

Don't do it. I sent in my FS7 from Texas. They charged more than double the quote they originally gave me. It took twice as long. And when I unpacked my camera they had fixed only half of what I paid for. The communication on a scale of 1-10 is about a 2. This was an incredibly awful experience considering the stress it put on me as a freelancer sending off my only full-fledged field rig. The only time I spoke to anyone with knowledge of my camera is when I called and explained how nervous I was about the time it was taking and the lack of communication. Only then did they transfer me to a technician and my camera was back in my possession within a week. My biggest mistake was not reading Yelp reviews 1st. Next time I will send to Sony. Had I read the reviews on this place it would have saved me $400 on an unnecessary repair because it didn't even fix the issue I was having with my camera. When I took it back, the guy didn't know exactly what to tell me; he couldn't directly answer my question and the explanation he had was vague. Based on the interaction, I also got the implication that there isn't anybody at the shop who directly handles the repairs, which is questionable. Read the other reviews and it seems as though they send an identically-worded email to all of their customers but just changing the parts needing repair and the estimate, which again, is questionable. The estimate doesn't reflect what you'll be charged in the end and there is zero transparency with the whole process so you have no idea what you're paying for or what exactly is being done to your equipment. And of course they work with an old-fashioned payment system so you get no payment details. Overall, this was a very frustrating and regrettable experience. I took 4 VHS tapes in to be transferred to DVD and a hard drive in August. The first time I picked up my order, one of the DVDs had no sound, and there were no files on the hard drive. So I called, the shop apologized, and I took the original VHS tape back - we tested it before I left and there WAS sound on the tape. We also tested the hard drive at home and at the shop, and there were no problems with the drive. The shop never called, as promised, to update me on this order. I stopped by to check on my order after a couple of weeks; not ready. I finally stopped by to pick the job up today, almost 4 months later - still no call, and no one answering the phone every time I called - and the DVD is fine, but the files on the hard drive do not play. The gentleman who runs the shop is nice enough, but not competent. Money and time wasted, with a partial delivery of what was promised. They pretended to repair my camera and then sent back an empty package, claiming it had been lost in transit. On discussion with UPS, the package was empty when given to UPS. The process of getting a replacement was a nightmare, involving dozens of back and forth emails and arguments. Eventually, after threats of complaining to the Better Business Bureau, legal threats through California small claims court, opening credit card disputes (ALWAYS PAY BY CREDIT CARD), etc. they yielded and sent me a camera. I took a chance and sent it, anyway, and they repaired it quickly and economically. I needed a Canon L series lens repaired. I was impressed with how quickly they got back to me with an estimate prior to shipping the lens to them. The 'impressed' part stopped there unfortunately. There has been zero communication with this company. No notification that my lens was received, no update on status, etc. Their 'repair status' forms do nothing, other than generate a form email that they will get back to you in 1 day. Well, my lens was delivered on 4/15 at 136pm to 'Robert' at the front desk. After reading other reviews I am concerned that this might be a scam and I am out my fairly expensive lens. This could be rectified with a little effort and communication. I have requested they just send my lens back to me. I have asked if my repair price has changed. I hold out NO HOPE that my lens will ever be returned to me, much less returned. BUYERS BEWARE. I will/can update this review to a more positive view if something actually gets accomplished. ETA: An estimate was emailed, oddly enough a few minutes after my review went live. I'll suspend further negative judgement for now. ETA 2: I was told on 5/12 that my lens was being inspected for quality. This was after AGAIN requested an update. On 5/15 I emailed asking for an update. On 5/18 I received an email that the lens did not pass their quality check and that they "ordered parts again". It also stated that due to the "Covid 19 event a part is on backorder". An eta on the part of 6/1 was given. ETA 3: UPDATE: After being told that they had to order a replacement part from Japan and that said part was being held in customs I FINALLY received my lens back on 7/9/2020. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I noticed that an interior lens was damaged with a scratch and there were multiple pieces of something on the interior lenses as well. The scratch was ABSOLUTELY not there when the lens was sent in, and it appears to be the lens assembly they had to reorder from Japan. They were unresponsive to my email asking about the damage and thus far have not responded to my complaint via paypal. This transaction has been a farce since it's inception. I sent my Canon 17mm Tilt/Shift Lens to this place a year or so ago for a parts replacement and realignment of the lens elements. It took 2 months, communication was awful and not long after I got the lens back I realized that it still had the focus problem. After avoiding using it and renting a lens a couple of times, I found a place in New York who sent projection chats showing what was wrong with the lens and repaired the lens to perfection in under a week. I sent Panasonic My Mini Dv deck to: Camera Repair Center Inc. 1947 West Glenoaks Blvd. Glendale , Ca 91201 I sent it in December of 2020 to be repaired. After many delays and periods of no communication they sent me a bill for $379.25 in April of 2021. I paid with PayPal, they sent me someone else's deck. I sent that deck back to them. They still had my $379.25 I have been attempting to get them to either repair my deck or send me my money back ever since. Multiple phone calls, lots of promises, no follow through. Just today Jan 24th 2022 I received a replacement Mini DV camera that I could have potentially used as as deck to import Mini DV tapes. It does not work, it will not import footage without destroying the timecode. No clip lasts for more than a second. It can not record sound cleanly, there is horrible static on any footage recorded. It turns on, but is otherwise not functional. I tested both recording and importing on multiple tapes. They did also returned my Mini DV deck, it was not repaired. I called them to let them know that I need my money back. They put me on hold, then they hung up on me. I tried to call back, they blocked my number. I want a refund, I will gladly send the non working replacement back to them. read more

They ended up charging me almost twice what they quoted. Horrible communication too. I couldn't find a phone number so everything had to be done through emails and they took days to respond. Sometimes up to a week. They finally sent me my return tracking number but waited another week to actually deliver it to the post office for shipping. From the time I shipped off my lens until the time I got it back was 46 days. My lens seems to working fine now and for that I'm grateful. But I would caution others about this business. read more

Welcome Covid right after I wrote the last review. It left off with me retrieving the replacement 8mm camera and seeing if it would hold up. Well it did not. It too failed as my original unit. Thanks to Covid and the CA lockdown, my ability to return it under the 90 day warranty was impossible. By the time we got the green to travel out again, I already purchased a replacement camera and transferred my home movies to digital. I still have the broken replacement. Hope you all have better luck. read more
