Extremely Disappointed I brought my Subaru to the dealership because it was experiencing a transmission issue. Instead of focusing on the actual problem, I was presented with an estimate totaling over $16,000 in repairs. Some of the items they claimed needed to be repaired simply did not make sense. For example, they said my radiator needed to be replaced. If my radiator had actually been failing the way they claimed, my vehicle would have been overheating--which it wasn't. I knew several of the recommended repairs were unnecessary. Because the estimate seemed so excessive, I sought a second opinion from AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care on Van Buren in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. They inspected the vehicle, confirmed the actual issue was the transmission, and told me that many of the repairs recommended by the dealership were not needed. AAMCO repaired my Subaru Crosstrek for roughly one-third of what Subaru wanted to charge, and two months later the transmission is running better than ever. In my opinion, the dealership lost my business because they attempted to sell me thousands of dollars' worth of repairs that my vehicle did not need. A trustworthy service department should diagnose the actual problem and recommend only the repairs that are necessary--not overwhelm customers with an inflated estimate. I had an overall great experience. Austin in particular was very friendly and helped me get my new Crosstrek. The first day I came in we went for a test drive and I really liked the car so I signed for it the same day. HOWEVER, whoever I spoke to in finance, I believe is name is Matt, just flat out lied to me. I was offered an extended warranty which we ended up negotiating down to $20 a month for the duration of my loan (meaning if I paid the loan in 12 months I would pay $240 for the warranty but still keep the coverage for 7 years). I signed for this. A week later the loan appears in my bank account and it's $2,000 more than I had signed for. I went in person and spoke to a different employee from the Volkswagen side of the dealership who was very kind, I forget his name. But he gave me a printout of my paperwork, something Matt never did and said it would be emailed to me but never happened, and showed me that the warranty was actually a "flat rate" $2,000 fee and NOT the $20/mo I signed for and was promised. This second finance employee was helpful and we cancelled my warranty, but be aware for anyone who is offered this warranty. I gave Camelback Subaru a shot because I already service my car here and was actively shopping for a WRX. I was ready to buy and already had a deal in hand from another dealership: 2026 WRX Limited at $650/month, no add-ons, GAP included, and a strong trade-in offer. Bri reached out and told me they could beat it, even quoting $637/month. Ray (manager) followed up and assured me they would put together a better deal if I came in. That's what got me through the door. Once I arrived, the entire tone changed. My trade-in value suddenly dropped, GAP pricing was inflated, and no clear numbers were presented upfront. I even switched to a lower-priced WRX Premium expecting better numbers--but somehow ended up being quoted $675/month on a cheaper car than the Limited I already had lined up elsewhere. At that point, it was clear the initial promises were just to get me in. I don't mind negotiating, but I do expect consistency and transparency. This felt like a complete bait-and-switch. I'll be purchasing a WRX elsewhere--and honestly, I'll probably take my service business somewhere else too. Update: I ended up purchasing my WRX from Peoria Subaru. It was a bit of a drive, but absolutely worth it. The deal was seamless, fair, and fast--no games. I secured a Limited WRX for $39,730.30 OTD Price, and the overall experience was significantly more professional. They also offer a 2-tire replacement program as long as you service your vehicle with them. If you're serious about buying, I'd recommend skipping Camelback Subaru and taking the drive to Peoria instead. read more

Subaru service review If I could give them 0 stars I would. I purchased a new 2022 Ascent from Camelback Subaru in December 2021. My warranty expired 6k miles ago, and at my 60k mile service (which cost $1200) their mechanics did not properly reinstall the o-ring. The incorrect placement of this $2 part created an oil leak which caused $11,000 in damage. Subaru demanded I pay $3,000 and called it a deductible, stating they would cover the rest since the issue is due mechanic and manufacturer failures, to no fault of my own. The repairs should've taken 2-3 weeks and instead took 7 weeks. When I did finally get my car back, it was damaged, which was not documented or communicated by the dealership. The hood has rust spots, and the paint completely stripped off in several areas and bubbling in others. There is a dent in my driver door, a large scuff on my front bumper, numerous dings, dents and scratches that were not there before leaving it at Camelback Subaru. Under the hood can only be described as looking like it was left outside with the hood up for the entirety time it was in Subaru's possession. Additionally, my battery terminals are now loose and I've had to tighten them weekly since getting my car back from Camelback Subaru service. The car is in worse shape than it was when I dropped it off 7 weeks prior. I sent photos and scheduled a follow up appointment to have this new damage rectified, and was met with a nonchalant, minimizing attitude from Service advisor Ian Wooley and service manager Frank. They have both been incredibly rude throughout this ordeal, and have done all that they can to avoid accountability and repair. It has now been 2 months of trying to find resolution, and being blatantly ignored by Camelback Subaru and its management team, namely Frank and Ian. I've even emailed Eric Zimmerman, GM and have received no response. I do however, get weekly calls from their sales team to trade my car in, which I find interesting. This is a 4 year old car that was purchased from and has always been serviced by Camelback Subaru. I brought it in for service and got it back destroyed, and haven't gotten so much as a 'sorry' from the people responsible - Camelback Subaru service. Buyer beware, Camelback Subaru service will damage your vehicle, make you pay for it, damage it some more, and then claim they did nothing wrong. Then they will blacklist you for being dissatisfied or asking for any type of repair which requires them to admit fault. I will never purchase from this dealership or any other Camelback dealer again. I have serious concerns about the integrity and safety of my vehicle after it was so sorely neglected by Camelback Subaru service. The salesperson we initially worked with at Camelback Subaru was pleasant and professional. Unfortunately, the experience was completely overshadowed by the conduct of her manager. The manager repeatedly interrupted our conversation by coming out to speak with us directly. During this time, he invited my husband and me to his house in Idaho, then went on to tell me I needed to bring him a woman, providing a detailed description of what that woman should look like. This was wildly inappropriate, uncomfortable, and completely unacceptable in a professional setting. He repeatedly promised us "the deal of a lifetime," but when it came time to actually negotiate, he refused to budge at all. He took over the salesperson's desk, told her to find another chair, and barked orders at her throughout the process. Despite refusing to negotiate, he then accused us of not being willing to negotiate. We left the dealership. After we got home, the salesperson called and offered $1,000 off the last price. At that point, we explained how uncomfortable the manager had made us and asked to work with someone else. She thanked us for bringing it to her attention and said she would notify another manager. Later, a second manager called us--not to address the behavior--but to tell us that the first manager was "a good guy" he'd known for years and that he could sometimes be "a little too nice." When my husband attempted to restart price negotiations, we were told the offer was no longer available and that we could instead receive a free oil change next time we came in. We chose not to continue doing business there and have no interest in ever conducting any maintenance on our vehicle there ever again. We went to Chandler Subaru instead and had an excellent experience--professional, respectful, straightforward negotiations, and no harassment. This review is geared towards their service department. I did purchase my Subaru Crosstrek from Camelback Subaru in 2018 and do love my whip! The experience purchasing was not amazing, but also nothing concerning and it has been years since the original experience. In regards to service, I have utilized their service numerous times a year. I have always felt good about the service, the team has been friendly, they have given me a rental when needed and the prices have always been reasonable and transparent. There were some hiccups that were less than stellar on my last visit where they told me I did not need service and skipped on then, miscalculated, that was a bit frustrating, as I try to stay on top of it, but all worked out. They do have a rewards programs with various coupons they will send out throughout the year, which Is nice and any savings is appreciated. They also send any quotes through a link on your phone with photos and what work is recommended which you can accept or deny directly, which is a cool feature. I do not go to them for all my services and we do try to do many of them at home or find other places more affordable for basic oil changes, but for overall service and hitting certain "miles" they have a great service program. read more

I came into this dealership on 9/3/2025 to hopes trade in my truck for the used 2018 Subaru outback they had on their lot. The offer I was given from the dealership was extremely unreasonable. I know that selling a car private party you'll get more money for it vs trading it in. The 2018 outback I test drove, the driver seat leather was cracking and the entire touch screen radio was not working. The salesman we were working with did not seem to care about it and said "it's probably cause the cars been sitting in the direct sun". This is the worst dealership experience I have ever had in my life. I want to start by saying I have given the dealership over a month now to respond to texts and calls. Dejon Yarbrough initially was helpful and has now become non-responsive. I purchased my 2025 Outback Wilderness in Chicago in February and relocated here to Phoenix. I brought my car in for the first 6,000 scheduled maintenance. My car was returned to me with oil or some foreign substance all over the fender, front grill, my car smelling like gas inside, tire pressure was all over the place on all 4 tires, OIL ON MY SEATS, and when I parked at Costco 8 minutes later it was spewing smoke from the front. I took video and pictures and sent it to Dejon. He said to come back so I did the following Monday, service had closed by the time I left Costco. HE PROMISED THEY WOULD DETAIL THE OUTSIDE OF MY CAR, DETAIL THE INSIDE OF THE CAR TO GET THE OIL OFF THE SEATS, AND REDO SERVICE.. It was supposed to take 1 day and they gave me a rental car. That 1 day on a Wednesday turned into thursday and friday too. The oil change turned into them having to replace my entire front grill because of how badly my grill was burnt from the liquid the tech spilled all over and didn't clean up. I got my car back Friday late afternoon, no one called to let me know it was ready, I had to call and check, I sat down and the tire pressure was well below the recommended psi on the door and Dejon said he set it to 30 psi. I was so mad I just wanted to leave. How do you have a car for 3 days and still get it wrong? WELLLLL THAT WAS JUST THE BEGINNING!!!!! I started driving away and on the highway I heard a loud knocking. Somehow now my sunroof rubber was flopping around and hitting the roof!!!!!!!!! I have video of this and I immediately sent this to Dejon. NO RESPONSE. I parked my car on the side of the road LESS THAN 5 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING. THEY DID NOT DETAIL THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR!!!!!!!! There was still oil all over the seat from a week before that the technician left on it, there was dirt and garbage on the floor, NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT DETAIL IT BUT NOW THERE WERE THREE SCRATCHES TO THE PAINT ON MY BRAND NEW 2025 CAR!!!!!!!!! I sent Dejon a text, the way we had been talking the entire time, and he did not respond. I called and left a message, no response. I HAVE TEXTED HIM 6 TIMES AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE ON HOW TO FIX MY VEHICLE. I WENT IN TO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND I LOST 2 DAYS OF WORK, I HAD TO PAY $250 FOR DETAILING, I HAVE SCRATCHES ON MY BRAND NEW CAR, AND CAMELBACK SUBARU IS NOT EVEN RESPONDING! Absolutely disgusting. Took my car in to get it diagnosed, didn't do a proper diagnosis. Said the issue was the compressor needs to be replaced spending almost $1,500. I then got it replaced and it didn't fix the issue. Took it to the Camelback Superstore and they said the compressor was fine and the actually problem was a couple hundred dollar sensor that they could have figured out in a about 5 min if they had run a proper diagnostic at Camelback. I took my daughter's car to Camelback Subaru based on reviews and because the Subaru dealership that is closer missed some obvious safety concerns (e.g. the 7 year old tires with cracking on the sidewalls needed to be replaced). I want to commend Dejon Yarbrough, our Service Advisor, for his excellent customer service, including explaining, in detail, issues found that needed to be fixed and making sure everything was completed on time (actually early). He is very polite, easy-going and patient. I also like that this dealership completes a thorough checklist inspection on the car. Our entire family of Subaru owners are now going to this dealership even though it is quite a bit farther to get to - it's worth it for us. read more

Update 10/26/2023: Took the car in to have all of the Subaru installed tint removed due to the tint bubbling in spots where dirt is in. Car was left with sticky residue on the corners of the windows and small hairline scratches on a couple of the windows. The Service Department made sure to add a comment on my paperwork stating that this Subaru Dealership will not be installing tint and that I must pay for any tint going forward. 10/10 comment, honestly made me laugh. Like if I paid you more money would Julio Z. do a better job with installing the tint? Previous Review: Not sure if I would trust the rep doing tint on cars. Bought a new 2024 Impreza, brought it into service to have it tinted and have had to bring it back 6 times since. Each time the windows were retinted, there was dust, dirt, or hair in between the tint and window. The most recent time it was tinted, the rep who did it left a couple deep long scratches on the back hatch glass. Thankfully it was replaced without charge, it was also retinted. Inside the tint, theres dirt and smear marks inside(like the window wasn't cleaned before hand). Each time I have brought the car in, the inside and outside were always clean. When I picked it up, it was dirty inside, water stains and dirt on the doors and on the mats. At this point with 6 retints, I am going to be taking it to Shaded Knight Tint in Queen Creek to have professionals that care about the quality of work they leave the customer with. read more

I have had two experiences where I have had an ongoing issue with my car (1. AC wasn't working, 2. Battery consistently dying). For both separate experiences when I brought the car in they would say there was nothing wrong, so I would take my car and go home, just for two days later the issue come up again and I would have to bring it in again. For the AC- the fan wasn't working so it would come on-and-off, for the battery I had a parasitic drain. I could get it working briefly, and then it would break again. Camelback Subaru continued to tell me nothing was wrong, wasting my time, until I brought it to a separate shop who actually found out the issue and fixed it. They are poor communicators. When I brought my car in this last time I was told I would get my car back in 2-2.5 hours, so I went to a nearby coffee shop to work. After 3 hours I heard nothing so I called to check in just to hear that they hadn't even started working on my car. After nearly 5 hours I finally got my car back. They will waste your time. Do NOT service your vehicle at this dealership!!! We went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation prior to driving across the country and they FORGOT to tighten the lug-nuts on our tire!!!!! Talk about safety ISSUE! We even knew something was "off" with the car when we picked it up. We drove back to the dealer and requested the mechanic to take another look, given our upcoming travel. My sister-in-law's tires are like magnets for sharp objects. As usual, one of her Subaru's tires mated with a drywall screw. She was wary about taking her car to Camelback Subaru, going instead to Discount Tire. She was told her tire was ruined, she's need a set of four. but Discount didn't have enough of the correct type. Not only that, but I'm offered $7,500 less than the guarantee. Haha.i'm literally LOL when writing this. Really, this happened. Ask Erick or i can show you all his texts, which show his ignorance about Subaru. ! How could they not know about a standard Subaru program? I'm taking about THE SALES MANAGER. THE SALES MANAGER doesn't know about the program? LOL. Come to learn that, in fact, I am 100% right and the SALES staff claims knows nothing of the program. Did i get an apology from Erick? Nope.Wouldn't even show his face to me. They should be embarrassed to be Subaru employees right now. I had to call SOA,file a case number (40 year customer, first time calling SOA to complain, FIRST TIME ERICK), had them call Daniel all in an effort to get them to educate YOUR STAFF on the program. Literal worst car buying experience of my life. I live out of state so fortunately coming back to this dealership isn't even an option. I'm from CA and in AZ as a caretaker for my sister who is here for medical reasons. I had a small window to go home for some personal time and bought the car for that drive home. I bought a CPO Crosstrek with some items that needed to be fixed. I was told they would be able to get it all done within that week as I was leaving the following Saturday. They completely failed in handling the situation. They wasted a week of my personal time, didn't fix everything. So I now have follow up items that they failed to complete added to my task list. Anyone in a caretaker position understands the burden this can be. There is no communication between the service and sales department. Major fail. Incredibly disappointed customer. read more

had an appointment, had to wait hrs for an oll channge, been a regular customer for oil change and other services last 7 years , but this time customer service os garbage , they didn't even apologize for the the long wait , and then they charge me processing fee of 3% if i use my credit card, i guese , they are trending like other businesses where customer service is no more and they nickele and dime u.. read more

Brought my Subaru in for service, they say it's covered for two years. The day was the last day of coverage and it expired at midnight but they still refused to do the covered service. Will never be back to this place. Ian was nice but definitely didn't care about keeping a customer. My wife is looking to get a new car and you can guarantee we are not coming to camelback Subaru for that. To clarify for the response that was sent, the warranty was still good but your tech claimed that the system wouldn't let him use it. That would be a dealership problem and not a warranty problem. It was still good through that day until midnight. That and the fact that the managers solution was to do absolutely nothing is just not good customer service. To say that it'll just be a full price service instead of offering anything at all is why I will not be back. read more

Went to this dealership to look at crosstreks. The manager increased original price told to us by about $5000 due to "fees" and of course "tax". He then proceeded to say "actually that car just got sold " and had someone ring a bell as we were talking about pricing with him. No one else was in there looking at it when we were. After claiming to sell the car they had us test drive, he then try's to push buying a pre owned vehicle with over 40,000 miles on it after I specified new or under 20,000 miles. Checked online and found the exact car I drove listed for another $1000 less than what they originally quoted before adding "fees". I sent an email to see if it was still available and received an email back asking when I could come see it. Clearly they did not sell it. Poor sales tactics and very misleading. Personally, do not recommend going here unless you enjoy getting lied to by a manager just trying to make his big commission. read more

THIS IS A SCAM WARNING‼ BEWARE‼ We live in the Rim Country and we've taken our 2016 forester in here for years for service. although front desk staff are great, the techs come back with horrendously high $$ issues that they tag needing " immediate attention " So, we took our Subie & their diagnostics to our local TRUSTED mechanics to specifically address those issues & guess what? THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG‼ They didn't even try to sell us new tires that the dealer said were "dangerously low on tread" because THEY ARE NOT‼ Needless to say, we won't be back. In March 2022 Camelback sold me a car they didn't even have. They promised it had all the features I wanted but it turned out to be a lie, there was also damage to the vehicle. The GM contacted me and we found a new car with everything I wanted. I was told that the negotiated dealer add-on price from the first sale would be honored, but sales/finance tried to fight me on that. It was over $2k I had negotiated off. They finally decided to honor the original price and I took possession. After reviewing the contract a few days later, I realized the math wasn't adding up. Called finance to review the contract and yes, they had overcharged me $1930. Suspiciously close to the amount that I had negotiated off the sealer add-on cost. They cut me a check. Always triple check your contract, everyone. The only dealer add-on I had to pay for was a ZakTek paint protection. Typical useless stuff that has to be applied every 6 months to keep some 5 year paint warranty. Since I take my vehicle in every 6 months for service, they should be applying the ZakTek, but never did. I can only find 1 record of them ever applying it, and that was because I had to bring the car back after a service. Every interaction with them, something went wrong. And when they sent an email asking for a review, I would naturally leave a negative one and note that they keep neglecting to apply the paint protection (that I never wanted in the first place) and also reiterate my issues with sales/finance. Apparently when they send you a review, they want you to lie and say everything is great, because service ended up banning me from having my car serviced there. When I asked for my money for the ZakTek back, they refused. I had paid upfront for a 5 year service, they now refused to service my vehicle in any way, and don't want to reimburse me. I ended up contacting Subaru of America and also Berkshire Hathaway Automotive, who owns Camelback Subaru. 2.5 hours after my conversation with Berkshire Hathaway, the managing partner of Camelback emailed me saying a check was in the mail. So I left honest reviews detailing how they kept screwing up, and instead of fixing the glaringly obvious underlying problem, they just decided to ban me and then attempted to steal the money I had already paid them for something they were now refusing to do. Don't waste your time here, it's not worth dealing with the headache. read more
