Would definitely recommend 25% sugar or none, was a tad too sweet for me. Parm fries are a must order and the sriracha mayo was a perfect choice. This will definitely be our go to spot when craving bánh mì. I ordered grilled chicken banh mi. It was made in less than 5 minutes. The bread was excellent, warm, and toasted. The toppings tasted fresh and flavorful. The chicken was marinated with a mild Vietnamese flavor with some small spicy pockets here and there. The banh mi made for a nice snack at a decent price point - the fish sausage portions were good and the sweet chili sauce was a nice touch, while the bread had a nice crunch on the outside and chewy consistency inside. The iced coffee was strong, which is how I like it because the ice melts and gradually dilutes it. Everyone who worked here was very friendly, and the interior was clean and brightly lit. We really liked this lunch! I've only had one other bahnmi sandwich before, I don't have a lot to compare it to. But if you like fresh vegetables and grilled meat sandwiches this is for you. We tried the beef, pork and chicken, each were very good and came with (very) fresh veggies on top, I think it was cucumber, onion, carrot and cilantro and the option to get it toasted or add spicy chili paste I think it was. Only feedback for the owner is that I would add fresh Jalapenos as well for spicy orders. The inside of the restaurant was welcoming, I am not familiar with the culture but I had no issues ordering here. The staff was friendly and working hard. I was told not spicy, somewhat sweet, when I asked how spicy is the hot sauce. That is accurate for palates that like spicy (so it was not spicy to me) but I could see it being spicy for others. My to-go sandwich was dry so I wish there was another sauce -- not just the hot sauce because not everyone would be able to take more of it. We got the Cold cut special ( banh mi dac biet) and Lemongrass beef ( banh mi bo nuong sa). I loved the flavors of both fillings, especially the Lemongrass beef. Veggies and pickled daikon/carrots were very fresh. However, the banh mi itself was lacking of the lightness in texture of traditional Banh Mi, and the crust wasn't crispy/flaky at all. It's just my personal preference since I grew up with Banh Mi in Saigon, so I do set a high bar for it. Also, I was so disappointed that my SugarCane bucket had way too much ices for almost $11....and tasted kinda off. It's hard to mess up sugar cane juice so I didn't know what went wrong. What an awesome new spot! I popped in here to get a Vietnamese iced coffee last week and it was so charming. I love the bright colors, neon lights, and the overall vibe (perinatal favorite light was the dog with the boba cup in the window). I was greeted upon entering, and the crew was hard at work making sandwiches behind the counter. It was around lunch time, so I'll for sure have to come back on an empty stomach. You can order at the touch screen kiosk, or you can order at the counter. I ordered at the counter and got the coffee, as well as a coin waffle. I have never had a coin waffle before. I went with the chocolate. I waited 5-10 minutes for my food and drink. My waffle was warm when I got it- we love a fresh made to order situation! The coffee was amazing, that perfect balance of strong and sweet, and my coin waffle was fluffy and filled with chocolate and cheese. I recommend both! So I would classify this as a bubble tea shop that also serves banh mi. I was here the day it opened and ordered the Grilled Lemongrass Beef Banh Mi. The baguette is fresh and the beef is pretty tasty. The sandwich also had cucumber, cilantro, onion, pickled carrot, mayonnaise, and chili sauce. I loved the chili sauce with the acid from the vinegar and the lemongrass. I could have easily taken more chili sauce. They offer no beverages here other than the boba teas and Vietnamese coffees. I was clearly the first person that requested water today. If they keep the portion and freshness they served with the banh mi they will do just fine. I'll be back to try the coin waffles that say "coming soon." I don't know of anyone else in St. Louis doing them! read more

Visiting from LA and found this hidden gem! Having eaten plenty of Banh Mi in LA, I can confidently say this place can hold its own: Delicious grilled meats, traditional vietnamese cold cuts and homemade pate and mayo made by the owner, and a perfect proportion of freshly cut cucumber, cilantro and daikon/carrot. You can taste and see that the veggies were freshly cut and not sitting around for hours. The bread is toasted so it comes out warm. I do wish the Đồ Chua was more strongly pickled, so it would add more acidity to the banhmi. Other than this minor preference, Tiger 88 is a high quality choice in this area for foodies. Even more, the staff was so accommodating and so kind, and the manager even came out to our table to chat. This speaks volumes as he cares about the customer experience. I had a bite and agree that the grilled pork was well seasoned and had great grill flavor. We shared the house special milk tea. The boba was clearly very fresh, like they were just made.
