From 4-5pm they had happy hour with complementary wine and appetizers. The Inn owners were so nice and offered great recommendations for things to see and do in the area. We took their suggestion to have dinner at Salt and Cyprus with waterfront views and great cocktails. In the morning, the inn's breakfast was perfect. Fresh fruit, homemade muffin, coffee, juice, biscuits and gravy, and scrambled eggs. With our short stay, we ran out of time to try out their fire pits and take a bike ride through town. Next time we'll have to stay at least two nights!

There spare no expense to make the guests feel like royalty. First of all, high end coffee machine, fresh made cookies every day, ice cream sandwiches in the freezer... Then, the breakfasts are like dining in a Michelin star restaurant. Easily would be $25-30 in a restaurant. They have a happy hour(s) each night from 4 to 6 and serve 3-4 high quality wines and an assortment of local and regional beers. David and Tania are amazing hosts and we will definitely be back. There is lost to do and see in this area and the White Doe is a perfect hub for all things north OBX.

The following amenities are included: - breakfast at 8:30am (naturally, the thing to do if you're not a morning person is take a 2.5 hour nap after eating; I may have some experience with this.) - beach access within a few blocks! - cable tv in room - beach towels, umbrellas, and beach chairs available during your stay - bathrobes - a cozy room decorated with beach-infused decor (seashells, lighthouses, sand-themed hangings) - jacuzzi and pool, not to mention hammocks for relaxing We had a wonderful stay, and I would highly recommend this place. The caretakers were kind, warm, and around in case any assistance was needed (help! A replacement beach towel is needed!).

We were welcomed by our host Eric, on arrival who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Our room was very nice, decorated in a birds of paradise decor and had a sitting room and a large, private bathroom. The house boasted a pool, hot tub, roof top patio and various other outdoor seating areas. It was located on the second row of houses from the beach with about a 3 minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to the pier. Every morning at 9am hot coffee was available and our hosts served us breakfast that included omelets and a breakfast casserole with veggies from the Margie's own garden. There are only 3 rooms at this B&B so only 6 people maximum can stay at one time. Fortunately, we were the only ones there during this weekend so we had the whole place pretty much to ourselves! The RelaxInn was very close to MANY shops and restaurants, just the perfect location! If you are looking to get away and have a quite time with a hot breakfast served daily, you should check out this place!

I thought with all of this if the weather were bad, we would still have a pool, game room, and movie room.  All we were able to use was the pool table.  There was a hole in one of the refrigerators, a cupboard door was hanging as the hinge was falling off, another cupboard was splitting at the corner.  One of the beds on the second floor had screws on the floor and the support board was on the floor with the headboard leaning towards the floor, not ideal for sleeping.  The boards on all the deck areas are very old and not treated; several nails sticking up in the boards and some areas where boards were splintering. Before booking I called about the indoor/outdoor pool being usable for the week I needed and was told it would be usable.  We arrived and both the indoor and outdoor parts of the pool were green and full of trash including a 5-gallon bucket floating in the outdoor area.  I called that day and was told it would not be usable until April 18th as it was not a heated pool.  When I asked why I had been told before booking it would be usable and that there was no information on their website about when pools open or were usable, I got a response that the person I was speaking to was sorry but nothing could be done. The game room was okay, the pool tabletop was very old, it was blue in color, and some areas were turning white, it was so used/old. The card table that was in the game room was not usable as the felt on the table was covered in mold.  There as a three-light chandelier with glass globes hanging over the pool table--not the best idea ever. One of the globes was broken and hanging from the light bulb, I removed the globe and set it on the countertop, so no one was hurt from this. The movie room was very dated, and the TV would not give us a picture, maintenance guy said we needed a whole new tv and he would put in the work order.  Did not see him again the rest of the week. We arrived on April 4th, I submitted an email on Sunday, April 5th with pictures of all the issues and received an email that maintenance had been included and a work order was put in.  The maintenance man came once; he checked all the issues took pictures and we did not see him again the rest of the time we were there.  I received a call on Tuesday April 7th from Resort Realty to inquire if the maintenance man had been out and taken care of the issues.  My response was "honestly I don't know what he did, I am on vacation and don't plan to sit around for maintenance issues." The Resort Realty staff I dealt with on the phone for booking and questions was very helpful. The representation online of the house and when access is available to home and pool was not great.  Issues should be handled before quest check-in or at the least taken care of within a day or two of reporting these issues. There is nothing online about when pools can be used, if they can only be used if heated, and that check-in is 4pm at the earliest but could be 6pm or later.  They do offer early check-in for an added fee of $150. If you don't pay, they will contact authorities to remove you if you arrive early and are waiting in the driveway.

I love the building with its weathered shaker shingles, bright green door, and welcoming walkway lined with flowerpots. It looked like something out of a movie, beautiful! Inside, the lobby was dim, full of antiques, dark wood, vintage Tiffany lamps, Oriental rugs, faded chintz, a cuckoo clock and abundant in English charm. The owner of the inn was "off duty" but she left our keys and towels on the huge heirloom desk in the parlor. Talk about trusting your visitors... this was a sweet surprise. Our room was just as charming as the lobby, appointed with aged floral wallpaper, red and white checkered calico quilts on the beds, vintage furnishings and pictures of a bygone era. It was certainly cozy and warm. What could've improved was the twin bed I slept in... it wasn't very comfortable as it was saggy... new mattress please, smiley face! My friend's queen bed was comfy though, she said. Another thing I would have appreciated is a set of soft, matching towels. Although the bathroom was clean, the towels were rough, mix matched, and worn. This is an easy fix to take this inn up a notch! We only stayed one night, and when we checked out, again the phantom innkeeper was nowhere to be seen. While I appreciate the trustworthiness of the owner allowing its guests to check themselves in and out, we did encounter a couple of issues that would have warranted face-to-face contact. Next door lives a relative of the owner, I believe, and they have the yappiest little dog I've ever heard. No need for a wake up call here, lol! With a couple of improvements and a bit of sprucing, I think this idyllic country inn could easily be 5 stars! Maybe upon my next visit, I can meet the owner and they can earn that elusive 5th star *!!

Every year my husband just flys right on by them I decided to take an overnight trip and stop at each and every unique place I've always wanted to explore for the past 15 plus years . I get my good friend involved and on board . She's always up for a road trip . That's how I stumbled upon this quaint little place . We both like Tea Rooms and B&B's so I started calling and most places would not accommodate an overnight stay. A minimum of 2 days were required. An owner to one B&B suggested the Scarborough House Inn not to be confused with Scarborough Inn . I expressed my appreciation and quickly looked up the number to see if I could book my reservations.(it was Wednesday and we were leaving the next day) I was so elated that the lady on the phone was happy to accommodate us for just one night . She suggested the room with a queen bed and a twin . All the rooms are antique inspired. Although not a B&B , it has all the charm of one. (because of not serving breakfast. It has English country cottage charm . We arrived later that evening and on the desk in the lobby was a note to me from Ruth along with my key to Room 3 . The room was cool and quite charming more than I even expected . We had a small refrigerator / freezer , microwave , coffee pot ,TV and a small table to eat at . The room was a nice size and the decor will take you back in time . From the quilts on the bed to the 4 poster queen bed give you a feeling of home even though your away from home. So quaint and charming . I look forward to planning another trip to Manteo and booking my accommodations here at the Inn.
