We visited this store on July 15, 2023. Our first time visiting a shop of this nature and what an experience it was. The Salesgirl was fantastic and so helpful at explaining the array of "toys" and other items available. She was very straightforward and comfortable explaining the products and what they were used for. She was very knowledgeable, professional and made the experience interesting and fun. I didn't even know how to hold some of the items we were looking at, much less what they were meant for. Let's just say I was schooled on our visit. We ended up buying some intense warming gel and a candle made with an oil based wax that once melted is poured on the body. Oh my gosh! My husband and I never laughed so hard. Backing up a little, We were visiting Carmel for our 33rd wedding anniversary get-a-way (July 14- 17, 2023) and drove over to Santa Cruz to hang out for the day. We were walking around this cute little town and walked by this store while window shopping. Something in the window caught my eye so we went in. I can't remember what it was that made me stop, maybe a cute piece of lingerie- I don't recall but we went in thinking it was a little lingerie shop. We didn't realize that in the very back of the store was a sex toy shop. We we're definitely intrigued and thought "Oh well, we are here, let's just look around." After seeing all of the "toys" and mentally picturing us going through airport security with some of these crazy sex contraptions, we decided on the intense hoo-ha warming gel and a wonderfully scented candle made of essential oils that once melted is poured and rubbed on the body. The candle even had a cute little built-in spout for easy pouring. We get back to the resort, it is very late and we don't have freaking matches for the candle. (I recommend giving a little pack of matches with candle purchase) My husband finally scrounges around the hotel lobby for some matches and comes back an hour later. We light the candle and realize it's gonna take awhile for this candle to melt. So we prep. Start by having a gummy snack. Shower. change into silky outfits, eat a few more gummies (another purchase for our special anniversary weekend) and kill time by reading the many brochures collected from the day. I check the candle (still melting) so decide it's time to open the intense warming gel - there's a pamphlet involved. Had to Google "where's the vulva". because the intense warming gel (according to the pamphlet) is for the vulva and even though we are middle-aged adults, happily married for 33 years, neither one of us are cognitive enough in this moment to the precise location of the vulva or who has it. That lead us down a rabbit hole of sorts. Finally the gummies were in full swing, the room was spinning, we found the vulva, and alas! the candle was nice and melted... Now, I had envisioned from the moment that we bought the candle that it would be me pouring it on him, he thought the opposite so now argued about who gets to pour the candle on who. Since I'm apparently the one with the vulva, I decided it would be me who got to be the pourer. I tried to be sexy about it- all sultry like, slowly pouring the melted candle oil on his hairy chest. (The sales lady never said how much ) - so I poured it all on him. let me just say, it's hot apparently, and a little goes a LONG WAY. It was very oily at first and quite delicious feeling. The warmth of the oil mixed with the warmth of skin to skin contact was a really nice feeling. (Sorry to my daughter who follows me on Yelp) The lights were off so I couldn't see. This is a locally owned hanky panky store with a surprisingly good selection of fashion items in the front. Parking is street only which means that you'll be parking in one of the garages or surface lots scattered around a block or so in any direction, or in very lucky cases in the mostly impossible to get street spots, perhaps around the corner. On the odd chance that you find one of those spots open, go buy a lottery ticket immediately before the luck runs out. Logically the store is essentially divided into two sections. The front section of the store is focused on clothing, and the items nearest the entrance in spite of what the window display would have you believe are not slinky at all. If you need a dress with pockets, that's the place to find them. Ditto if you need something fashionable and are not a size zero model. As you wend your way more inside the items will get slinkier , starting with costumes/cosplay stuff, then lingerie/stockings and eventually getting into fetish wear. There is a bargain rack right before you get to the entrance of the back room which is where the adult stuff is. The bargain rack offers tremendous discounts-50-70 percent-and can consist of unexpected items like steampunk glasses and harry potter wands. The very adult back room basically has two types of stock-novelty and um, non novelty hanky panky spanky. The hanky panky stuff is high quality, fairly diverse, and typically on the higher end of the price range. The novelty stock is the kind of junk you'll see at college parties-phallic party favors galore, and is fairly inexpensive if you are throwing the type of party which needs genital shaped ice cubes. I'm told it's popular with bachelorette parties and tailhook conventions. Whether the pricing is worth it or not would be totally up to the buyer, you. My partner (who actually IS Asian) and I were so uncomfortable about this blatantly racist display, we had to leave. Their employees are on commission and it shows. Specifically, the manager I mentioned- the one with the blond dreads- is notorious for being pushy at absolute best, stealing sales from her fellow associates in a really obvious and petty way. This has been reported to her supervisor and in store reviews repeatedly and yet they keep her around- I don't know why. Y'all, this person is BAD, and her shenanigans are driving out plenty of folks like me (I've spent hundreds of dollars there, and was considering buying an expensive silk bra before the manager lady came in - after what happened, I left without buying anything.) Because of my bad experiences, it's been close to a year since I actually bought anything here. Plus, the merchandising is so poor, they can't even sell items that fly off the shelves at nearby shops.
