Do not ever leave your dog(s) in their "care." I have been a loyal customer and have spent thousands of dollars to board my dogs and for their daycare. My sweet two year old was attacked by another dog while I was thousands of miles away. The owner, Kimberly, told me over the phone that I was being "irrational" and "hysterical." To this day, I do not have anything in writing about the incident. I have requested video footage of what happened to my dog - haven't received a thing. Do not ever trust this place with your dogs. The place is essentially a bunch of kids watching over them. They do not have credentials of any kind. Horrible! read more

My dog Missy loves going to play once a week with her friends at Camp Bow Wow. I just have to say the name and she's running to the door and they jumped into the car. She absolutely loves it there and we've done half day and full days. We also did a bath one time as well and do regular nail trimmings. All the staff have been very friendly and they love our dog and she always comes home wiped out and exhausted from a day of play. (so far we've never done boarding.) read more

I will start this by acknowledging that as a dog owner, it is my responsibility to plan accordingly and put my dog in the best available environment for him to be safe. Sadly, in this regard, I have failed by choosing Camp Bow Wow in San Clemente. I had an unexpected business trip occur where I needed to board my dog for 12 days (this part is certainly my fault and I hate that it was a non negotiable for my dogs sake). It was time sensitive that I find him a place I felt comfortable with that offered cameras to observe him when I needed peace of mind, and day care where he could socialize with other dogs and let out some energy so he was tired enough to sleep for the majority of what turned out to be 12 hours straight of unsupervised time he would spend in his crate overnight (not to mention what turned out to be the majority of the day as well which will be noted below). His initial "test day" at the day care was reportedly great, where he verbatim was "one of the best first day dogs we've ever had". I felt this was a good fit, and like Lord of the Rings deciding to make The Hobbit, boy was I wrong. The problem began of course the first day I landed in New England. I got a call saying they had to pull him from day care and put him in his crate because he had too much energy, he was NOT rough housing. I was told on admit that there are two separate yards, one for the dogs who are slower/older, and one for the dogs who have energy and want to run around, and they alternate where the dog plays based on his current behavior. They apparently crate the boarders in the same open warehouse room on the other side of a 5 foot fence where they are forced to be in the same loud room hearing other dogs playing having fun while they sit alone in their crate, with NO CAMERAS. They told me he would most likely have to be pulled throughout the day for the duration of his stay based on his energy, again NOT rough housing. They offered a suite when I asked about cameras, and since he was going to be spending a lot of time pulled from day care (a service that is included in the boarding cost), I agreed, which of course came with a additional price tag. For the first 6 days he was in his suite, not once did they take his blankets from off the floor and put them on his bed. They sat in the same shape/pattern on the floor where it was evident they hadn't been touched. Not once did they try and set him up comfortably, or even just remotely make an effort in room where he was now spending the majority of his time. I called and asked them to please tend to his blankets, which they appropriately handled that day, which I appreciated but they said they clean the rooms "every day". FALSE On the 7th day, they called me and said that he was going to be pulled entirely from day care for the remaining 6 days because he was full of energy, NOT rough housing, and when he wants to keep playing, whatever dog was running with him could not keep up, and that was too much (this was what I thought the purpose of 2 separate play areas was as outlined when being sold on the place). They then offered me to buy individual 15 minute one on one sessions with a member of staff which would seemingly be the only way to get him any type of time outside of his room that I paid to upgraded to. So I am now paying for day care that he is not allowed to use, a suite that is used as a holding cell with no upkeep, and 1 on 1 sessions that could have been offered complimentary considering he is not able to use the 8-10 hours of day care that I am paying for, instead they forced my hand to pay for 15 MINUTES of "enrichment". Part of the 1 on 1 package is that they just take as many pictures as they can to prove that your dog is getting this service, and then sending them with a nice little note attached and what member of staff they got to play with. I noticed a cut under my dogs left eye which is strange for a couple reasons, 1 because he was allegedly not supposed to be around other dogs because of his energy, and 2 because they did not notify me of this. I responded to the number that sent me the pictures and they said "we should have told you sooner", which leads me to believe if I hadn't noticed they wouldn't have told me at all until I came to get my dog. When I began to inquire about how it happened they said they had him in one of the yards by himself and a dog bit/scratched him through the fence. I asked him any of the other dogs had bites or scratches they said no, and I asked if any of the dogs were removed for biting/scratching my dog they said no. My dog was removed from daycare for too much energy and put in his room all day where I was forced to buy him time to avoid being isolated for his stay, but aggressive/violent dogs aren't removed. Lastly, when I came to pick him up, he was supposed to bathed right before I arrived, he still smelled like a kennel and looked malnourished, I had to take him to the vet. Firstly, my dog is like my baby. I am exceptionally protective and particular when it comes to his needs. And with that, I wish I could give Camp Bow Wow 100 stars! Camp Bow Wow came at the perfect time for us last year. The owner and staff have been so warm and welcoming as my dog- now 15 yrs old- acclimated to the daycamp regime. And wow- I have noticed such a change in his demeanor since becoming a more regular camper. He exhibits a youthful interest in dogs we encounter during our walks now and has no issues parting with me in the lobby when I drop him off in the morning. (Honestly, I'm borderline insulted he doesn't even turn to look back at me as he trots off to the play yard where he knows he will be cuddled and cared for.) The owner has hired an epic team of dog lovers. They notice things about my dog before I do and I always appreciate their recounts of my dog's day, any important observations, and the countless pictures they have taken. I love that each daycamp includes a scent and sound of the day for extra mental stimulation. Treat Tuesday is the best day though :) When my dog fell ill last year (temporary vestibular issue) and I didn't want to leave him home alone while out on job interviews, yet again Camp Bow Wow came through for me, providing flexible options and peace of mind that he would be happy and safe during shorter stays with them in his own cabin. I had to move and wasn't able to fly with her because of covid regulations so I needed to leave my 1 year old dachshund somewhere for a long period. She stayed there for 1 month and got to socialize with so many dogs! I was really nervous about the interview process as it is strict and was not sure what to expect but I'm so grateful for it and it helps me feel safe to know that all the other campers there had a temperament test too. I'm so happy with the staff as they kept me updated with her food and how she was doing. They were always only 1 phone call away and were really great at communicating and answering all of my questions. And my pup was so happy when I picked her up! My dog is 7 years old and has high separation anxiety. For most of the time I was taking him with me to work but few months back I finally took him to Camp Bow Wow, San Clemente. I wasn't sure that would be a good fit for him, since usually he is withdrawn when I am not around. Boy, was i wrong! He loves this place. Normally my guys stay at Camp Bow Wow in Anaheim, since it's closer to us, but we had a last minute trip come up and San Clemente was the only place relatively close to us that could accommodate. I was nervous at first because I'd never left them there and honestly it had been a while since I left the dogs anywhere for a long time because of covid. I am so happy with Bow Wow San Clemente. Of course it's wonderful to watch the doggies on the camera, and it was adorable to watch the people walk around and give the doggies pets and hugs sometimes. I was so happy to see them give my guys some love. When I picked them up they were nice and clean and exhausted and wearing these adorable bandanas. They slept for like 2 days, haha. My dog loves Camp Bow Wow, therefore I love Camp Bow Wow. Every time we get out of the car and she sees where she is, she's pulling to get inside. My girl Mazikeen hates leaving me but happily goes with the staff every time I drop her off. Which tells me they're doing something right!! I love their app as well; it's very useful. Oh man, where do I even begin. I have a 1 year old Frenchie puppy, Ronald. To say he is the light of my life is putting it small, and I'm not remotely embarrassed to admit I'm a total helicopter parent. All I want is for him to be healthy, happy, have lots of puppy friends, and have his best life ever. A friend of mine takes her Corgi, Bodhi, to Camp Bow Wow and RAVED about it, so I figured I would give it a try. They hold an "interview" with your dog to see how he plays with others. At the end they give you an entire report file. Photos of them playing, who their best friends were, how they got along, and even their play style. They have cameras where you can watch your pups all day, and have ZERO issue with crazy parents (like me) who call to ask how their pup is doing, or when lunch is over. The owner, Kim, knows Ronalds name when he comes in, and they even take extra pics to send home with him some days. I've even become friends with some of the parents and pups on social media. I've boarded him there twice now, and I was able to be calm the entire time I was gone. All I know is, if this crazy dog mom is comfortable leaving her little nugget at Camp Bow WOW San Clemente, then all dog parents should too! read more

Wow, I had been going to Jen for grooming for over 2 years for my dog and all the sudden they said they no longer will groom him for no stated reason. In the past, she shared what a sweet dog he was and he'd hang out with her and her dog once he was finished being groomed... How they can just deny grooming your pet is unbelievable to me. I hate to leave poor reviews but make sure you do your research before you board your dog here. We left our dog for 4 days when we went out of town here and won't do it again. The dogs are in a big CEMENT room all day long. I emailed them concerned because the dogs stand and look at each other all day with no toys. They emailed me and said no toys are allowed because of choking hazards and we could pay an extra $20 for them to give our dog attention for 15 minutes. Otherwise the workers don't interact with the dogs at all and just stand and talk to each other..(I know this because I downloaded the camp bow wow app and watched every day.) Do your research before booking unlike we did. read more

This place is an absolute joke. My wife and I work very hard and were running late AND live 20 minutes away with no traffic to an interview process for our puppy and they claim they don't have enough staff at 11 to watch our dog. They claim 10 minutes is the max grace period and told us we can no longer be accommodated here when we were literally in the parking lot as they called..... Maybe staff accordingly for that time slot then? If you don't have enough staff to watch one dog how do you have enough staff to watch 20 dogs. 100% going to tell everyone I know to not even bother trying to come here read more

Gotta agree with Maria and Billy with their most recent reviews. Camp Bow Wow's employee turnover, lack of training for new employees, an owner/manager's cold demeanor are telltale signs this place is failing! Our dog used to love going here once a week, but we're glad to have found a new doggy daycare down the road with trainers and staff who are knowledgeable and communicate effectively with their clients, both positively and constructively when/if an issue arises. We love boarding our two dogs here Walter and Maddox. The staff are so accommodating and super nice! They also make sure that Walter is given more rest due to his breed (short-nosed). Every time we need to go anywhere for a day or two, we entrust Camp Bow Wow to take care of our beloved pets. They understand how much we care about our dogs so therefore they love them as their own. It saddens me to see all the negative backlash on CBW sc. my sister has been bringing her dog here for a while; I rescued a pup a few months ago and started bringing him along. They are the best. The dogs get so excited when we pull up. The employees are always so kind and love my babies as much as I do. Our Raina is always very happy to go to Camp Bow Wow for day camp. She is loved by the employees and sleeps very well when she gets home (from playing so much). They always remember her and are happy to see her. We have used the grooming services two times and Jen does the best job anyone has ever done on her. It has been very hard to find a groomer who is willing to groom a large long haired shiloh shepherd as they are a lot of work. Jen does a fantastic job. I would give no stars if that were possible. I have formally filed a complaint with their headquarters and will be taking further action beyond that. After my most recent visit here, where my dog was attending day camp, I received an email asking me to rate the experience. I rated it a 3 for the following reason: We have been to this location many many times for day care and seem to always have trouble finding our dog on camera. At pick up during our last trip my boyfriend made it a point to ask why that was. A staff member told him something to the effect of he is removed from group play because he gets too excited and it can turn a bit rough so he is moved to a kennel/isolated area. Due to this, I noted that Camp Bow Wow will continue to be a last resort for us as we don't seem to have the same issue at Zuri (highly recommend by the way) where we can see him on camera and we get the service we are paying for. Keep in mind we have never been told this information in the past. Nor was it volunteered this last trip. We asked! The result of this review was a response back to me saying we were no longer welcome at camp bow wow which is comical because had I not left a review this would not have been the case as we left with zero issue. They ultimately attempted to justify their cancellation of our account by saying he is a risk to other dogs and himself (all of a sudden). The owner of this location clearly can't handle legitimate feedback so retaliated with "banning" us. If this is at all true then the alternative is that this entire time they have been all too happy to put my dog at risk AND YOURS, for the sake of a profit. Thankfully their sad attempt to justify this "ban" is all in written form making my case much, much easier! Lastly, be forewarned that they will attempt to be sneaky and charge a full day rate for a half day of camp. We had been looking past that this whole time but given how shady they seem to operate, it's just one more solid reason to skip this place. Avoid Camp Bow Wow San Clemente at all costs. There are much better and safer options out there! read more

Never EVER take your dog here. We usually take our dog to the Camp Bow Wow in Anaheim since it's closer, but since they were booked for Christmas, we took him here. Not only was the customer service terrible, they were also extremely abusive to my dog. The first night we left him, we were watching on the cameras and he was the last dog to be put in. When the lady went to get him, he laid on his back and started to pee. The worker then grabbed him aggressively and did who knows what to him. When we picked him up two days later, he had a bloody lip like someone kicked him in the mouth. We've traveled for weeks at a time and have never had anything happen to him at the Camp Bow Wow in Anaheim . With what I saw the first night, I wouldn't put it past them that they got upset and kicked him in the face. Our dog is apart of our family, which is why I will never trust this location again. read more

Have to give thumbs up review for Camp Bow San Clemente. We have been bringing our standard poodle Leo there for about 3 years. He always has a great time and comes home happy and tired. Love watching him on the cameras. Facility is clean and does not smell! Also, the grooming is excellent!!! Leo visits for a bath or groom about every 2 weeks. Prices are exceptional and always great service. The staff there are always polite and very friendly. You never have to wait for them to accommodate your needs. Camp Bow Wow San Clemente is a dog's and dog lover's paradise!! We moved here from WI last summer and I was so happy to find a doggy day care and boarding business I can trust completely. The staff is warm, friendly, and professional, and they all clearly love dogs. Our two small dogs are always excited to play for the day or spend the night at Camp Bow Wow. We love all the creative, fun touches like treat day (puppaccino!) and birthday photos. Being able to have our dogs groomed by an excellent groomer on site is a real convenience. The camper cam is a neat way to check in on our pups. Our dogs enjoy being around other dogs at camp. If i could give them negative stars I would. I am disgusted with this horrible place. These evil people gave me my baby back today with SCABS all over her face and body. Upon further investigation she was even drooling blood. These people are HORRIBLE. After I noticed these scabs I confronted the staff and they tried to blow it back in my face? Also, they promise you can watch the dogs on their app during the day time. Four days in a row I checked during normal hours and I couldn't find any dogs on camera. I checked every single indoor and outdoor playroom. I don't know if they're abusing the animals or just not watching them but this is despicable. The staff said I was trying to "scam" them and that her literal wounds were "playful scratches. Also, when we unpacked her bags when we got home, her blanket, that I washed prior to her going there was FILTHY and covered in questionable stains and dog hair that was not hers! All of her toys were in similar fashion as well. Even her collar! her collar used to be this pretty blue and white tie dye and it's brown now. The staff was extremely dense, argumentative, and very combative. It's extremely concerning that people that work with dogs everyday say that this is normal. They should be shutdown for animal abuse. Friendly staff is what saved this from being 1 star. Long story short, they required my pup to get bordatella as they require it to be within 6 months. A week later he spent 3 days there and came down with a terrible case of kennel cough. Doesn't seem like they screen the dogs well enough. read more
