They hung up on me and wouldn't answer my calls when trying to bring a lost dog. Wouldn't recommend this business

We adopted our second dog, Oliver, from Korean K9 Rescue in May 2026, two and a half years after…read moreadopting our first KK9R dog, Bari. I remain profoundly grateful for this organization and for the people who do this extraordinarily difficult work. Oliver came to us with a complicated history. He is a senior rescue who had already experienced a failed adoption and had spent years learning that human hands were not always safe. KK9R did not minimize his history, rush the process, or try to make him sound easier than he was. They were honest with us about his needs and thoughtful about whether our home was the right one for him. Since his adoption, I have been reminded again and again why KK9R's process is as thorough as it is. Rescue is not simply about getting a dog out of a shelter and into a home. It is about doing everything possible to create a placement that can be permanent, and one in which the dog has a real chance to feel safe, be understood, and have a joyful life. Oliver has now had significant dental work and eyelid surgery, and we are slowly building a life around safety, trust, consent, and predictability. He is funny, stubborn, deeply sensitive, and increasingly joyful. Watching him discover toys, enrichment, comfortable places to sleep, and the simple pleasure of being understood has been one of the great privileges of my life. I am especially grateful to his fosters, his trainers, and the medical, adoption, and administrative teams and volunteers who cared for Oliver before he became ours and who trusted us with his next chapter. The work they do is expensive, complicated, emotionally demanding, and often invisible. If you are considering adopting from KK9R, my advice is simple: take the process seriously. Follow their guidance. Listen when they tell you who a dog is. Understand that the requirements exist because these dogs have already endured enough uncertainty. We did not need KK9R to make adoption easy. We needed them to help us make it permanent. Thank you for Bari. Thank you for Oliver. And thank you for trusting us with both of them.

Often times, you see organizations with adoptable animal pictures asking for application, after you submit lengthy application, often you don't hear from them, and animal is no longer available. And since application is needed for each specific animal, you have to go through the process all over again. KK9R is different; they ask for your application to vet you. You can apply for particular animal or general to get approved. They are very thorough about vetting applicants and very responsive. Then, after you get pre-approved, you can visit the animals. Which makes the process more streamlined and efficient. They do great work with local rescues as well as oversea rescues; particularly from south korea. The dogs are adorable and great quality. Some dogs are rescues from puppy mills, that sells to pet shops. They are also very honest about medical history of the dogs, and what to expect. After adoption, they also do follow ups. Spead the word if anyone is looking for furbaby!

After I sent the email to second chance rescue they replied to me right away eager to help. We were sent for X-rays the very next day and after that for his actual surgery. My boy finally got his surgery done and won't need amputation thanks to second chance. They helped us with our puggy Communication was incredible, they really care about all pets and I will donate here for as long as I can and tell everyone about second chance. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we will appreciate you guys forever.

We were looking on Facebook because there are always so many dogs on there needing homes. We remembered NY Second Chance was near us so we looked at their page. It would seem they're a Pitbull rescue and not what they say they are. They also constantly beg for money for sick dogs. They seem to target dogs who need funds to live. My husband and I were horrified! We chose a Rotty from a site called Rescue Me. I believe this NYC Second Chance Rescue isn't what it seems. It's one sick dog or Pitbull after another. I love the breed and have owned them, but it's very suspect to me when I checked them out.

I began working…read moreaway from home and I tried multiple dog sitters/ walkers but Pharaoh simply refused to go with them. Having him at home alone for 10 hours wasn't something I could live with. This was a rather difficult decision and making sure that he wasn't going to end up in a kill shelter and would land with a loving home was paramount for me. I reached out to Bobbi via phone and her assistance shared he would have her contact me. Later that evening, I got a call from her. She asked me to submit a pic and information about my dog. I complied and she was very responsive. Over the next couple days we went back and forth with the logistics. She reassured me that she did have space for him, that he would be cared for and that she wouldn't let him go until she was convinced he'd be well taken care of. We made a plan for me to bring him. Bawling, I showed up on 9/18/23 to surrender him. Listen, I read all the reviews and I heard the complains about Bobbi and how she needs to work on decorum and phone manners. I'm not making excuses for that, however under the slightly abrasive demeanor, she has a heart for these animals and handled both me and Pharaoh with care. That day, she hugged and consoled me and took Pharaoh and immediately gave him kisses. I filled out paperwork and gave her all his documents (vet, microchip info, registration with the city) and the surrender fee. Bobbi gave me updates on him and after two weeks Pharaoh was placed with a retired family with other Yorkies who could give him the care and attention he deserves. Seeing him with them was bitter sweet but I knew it was the right thing to do. Bobbi was kind enough to send me a photo of him when I was struggling with missing him. I know she may not sound like the sweetest via the phone but I promise she loves the animals and is committed to doing the right thing.

My niece who was never a pet owner was called within the day. She has an italian last name. We both applied the same day and I never received a call despite owning a dog for over 17 yrs. Please note I am an home owner with a private yard. Another family member attempted to adopt a pet and was discriminated because of her age, and living location (Bklyn). Bobbi truly need to work on how they process their adopters. There are plenty of good people wanting to give furry family members a wonderful home. Looking for a pet, please go to our local shelters. There is one on Flushing Ave near the Onderdonk House. I am sure they are not disrespectful and inappropriate as Bobbi's place. Best of luck

First of all the place smells like rotten water , aside from having a very limited variety of cichlids they don't look that great , there was this one specific tank that all the fish were swimming strangely and one other tank had a sign that said check filter ( maybe that explains in part why the place smelled bad ) because the tanks are not properly maintained. But why put a sign up ? Just service the filter so the fish can live in proper water conditions . And last but not least , all the questions we asked were answered with : but it's not guaranteed . Seriously I think I know more about African Cichlids than the person working there. We didn't buy any fish since I don't think the water conditions and fish health were good , and in all honesty I wouldn't recommend buying live anything from this place . It's just a big NO NO !!
