It's in a great spot in town with beach access and close to the main drag for shopping or dining. Because we stayed 3 nights, we got 30% off our stay - a promotion they had this summer. That made the stay far more affordable! The room we were placed in had an ocean view and was on the top floor. Really nice. The only downside to this particular room, #431, was being right next to the door/hallway that led to the elevator landing and the Pickled Fish Restaurant. The noise level at night would be a little annoying, so we'd slip out and shut that exterior door that opened to the landing. The only problem with that is guests needed to go through that door to get to the other rooms on the 4th floor. So, the heavy door was clunking open and closed until people were all inside or the restaurant closed. Also, occasionally someone would reopen the door and prop it open...letting the noise rise again. I'd pop outside in my PJs and have to close it again. Each Night...so avoid this room if you can. I'm sure the other 4th floor ocean views were OK. The room was clean and modern. Turndown service still exists here too! It was nice to have our room freshened up! There were even bathrobes and beach towels provided. The front desk is nice and responsive if you have a request. There is no A/C in the room, but they did have a box fan if it got too warm. We cracked opened the windows to let fresh cool air inside. There is a wall heater for the colder days. Bed is comfortable...I thought it was going to be too soft but slept like a rock and wasn't sore afterward. Had a place that functions for a desk with a hard plastic desk chair. The other chairs in the room were more comfortable. We will be back I'm sure in the near future.

We…read morehave stayed at The Bowline in Astoria a handful of times - which is managed by the same parent company - and had expectations about the quality of this hotel due to our very pleasant stays there. Unfortunately this place fell short in a couple of ways. The booking experience is a bit confusing, especially if you are trying to book a room at The Inn at Discovery Coast, which is a smaller hotel owned by Adrift and located a stone's throw away from the Adrift. It is the nicer hotel of the two, as the rooms all have oceanfront views and individual, motel-style entrances to each room. During the booking process, the website does a poor job at distinguishing which property you are booking for, and instead lumps both properties into the same search (even if you specifically select one or the other). We only found out when we arrived that we had booked the Adrift and not The Inn, which was a huge disappointment. They were, of course, fully booked, so we did not have the opportunity to re-book upon arriving. The hotel itself has a much less premium feel than The Bowline, and doesn't feel as well-kept. You can tell they were going for luxury but spared many expenses on the furnishings and decor, as it feels a bit more like a cheap Airbnb. The "partial ocean view" rooms on the side of the building should be called "full parking lot view where you can see the ocean if you stand in the corner". We were also down the hallway from the hotel's bar and restaurant, which stayed loud pretty late. I would hate to have booked a room underneath it, even if it meant facing the ocean. We did find a dead bed bug in the sheets while we were there. Upon reporting to hotel's email, they thanked us but offered no consolation in return, which was disappointing. A coupon off another stay would at least have been nice. The pluses: it's conveniently located near town and the boardwalk that leads into the main part of Long Beach. We did enjoy that walk and access to town! It is likely that we won't be back, unless we are so confused during the booking process that we book it by mistake again.

Very helpful when I had questions. They even had quarters on hand when my daughter unexpectedly needed to wash laundry (they have on-site quarter laundry machines). Special shout-out to Tammy (second-floor maid) who was super nice and helpful! She worked with us on a time to get towels and trash that wouldn't interfere with our toddler's nap. She stocked us with tissues (one kiddo was sick) and plenty of fresh towels and made sure I knew where she would be if I needed anything. Breakfast staff offered ice when my toddler bonked her head. The breakfast was good: hot scrambled eggs, sausage, gravey. Hard-boiled eggs, two kinds of cold cereal, hot oatmeal packets, mini bagels, mini muffins, rolls. Yogurt. And hot waffles, which were fluffy and really good! Coffee, tea, juices. They had a few board games and kid books near the breakfast area, which was helpful when my toddler was done with breakfast but we weren't. The room was quiet- I didn't hear more than one "thump" and that was during the daytime. The hotel was within walking distance of many eateries, fun shops, and even the beach is a 10min walk away. Great location. The bad: Room was smaller than I expected, which made for a cramped stay with 5 people. We had a two queen room and brought an air mattress as well. Room was dusty but overall clean Only had a few channels of direct tv, and no access to Disney+, Prime, or Netflix. Not sure if it was advertised but would have been nice to know ahead of time, especially with kids. Thankfully, there were some decent kids movies playing most of the time. But what was the worst was no air conditioning. There was an air conditioning unit but it did not work. And that's a problem. I need to have cool air in a building. And regardless whether or not we are by the ocean a couple blocks away, it was pretty hot in that room. They brought us a fan. When I reported our discomfort the next day the manager Amber had zero empathy when I was talking to her. There was a customer behind me that said "oh I thought we were the only ones that had a broken air conditioner." Fans do not work because we sweat through the whole night. It was so uncomfortable. In the room, if somebody was sitting at the desk in the room, you couldn't even walk by without the person getting out of the chair and moving it. That's how small the space was. Constantly moving a chair to walk to the bathroom. I have never, ever, been charged that much for a substandard, Best Western hotel room, in my life. The breakfast was below standards, fake butter, fake cream cheese, fake coffee. They had bagels the size of a quarter. Uninspired breakfast I don't eat sausage or instant eggs. There was brown cereal, no fruit It was disgusting. None of us slept that night. We were that sweaty hot in a bad way. I eventually called the corporate office and got some solutions and we ended up checking out ahead of time the next day. We were going to stay 2 days but they weren't going to really make it right. They told us they didn't have to give us air conditioning. They didn't have to fix the air conditioning unit, that was sitting there in the room and the attitude was so negative. We just couldn't justify staying there and giving them any more money. Think twice before you stay here. It's not that enjoyable. And for almost 300 a night, you expect more than a ho-hum experience on a burner. The only up part of it was it was in downtown Long Beach so you can walk all over the place. But the room somehow accumulated heat and even with the windows open we couldn't get rid of the hotness and humidity. 000 minus for customer service , if you call it that. I had to call corporate to even make them listen to me. They also didn't have enough luggage stands. There was absolutely nowhere to go. There wasn't enough chairs we had to ask for another chair. The TV channels were non-existent... And I found out they're owned by Vicks investments which is from India originally and they're buying up hotels in Oregon. Take care of the properties you have and upgrade your standards for eating and your rooms cuz they look like shit.

From the bottom units, you have a small deck with a bench, and upper units have a balcony. All rooms overlook the dunes, and the higher ones can catch you a glimpse of the ocean. You spend the evening listening to the roar of the waves. It's so relaxing. In the main office area, you'll find a recreation room, vending machines, and espresso stand with good coffee, and a huge saline pool that's in a solarium type of building. Their fitness center is small but it's something. They love dogs, and it shows. You'll get a welcome pack for your mutt, and there's a lighthouse themed dog house in the parking lot that you can take pictures of your dog with. There's two TVs - you can stream from your device in the bedroom, or watch cable in the living room. You'll have a gas fireplace, a lounge chair, a couch that folds out into a bed with a nice, squishy mattress, and a two person dining table. The staff here have been here a long time, and it's always nice to see a familiar face when we arrive. Shout out to Kevin! Always friendly and helpful. I should have known this was wrong because they then charged me right away. I later wanted to use a different credit card and booking service, so I tried to cancel my Expedia reservation. Expedia couldn't do anything about the refund, and I didn't get any cash back credit for the stay because it showed as cancelled on their end. The male worker at the inn refused to let me get a refund on my original credit card. Once we were there, it was insufferable. Our room faced west, so keeping the windows open during the day time would warm the place up too much even with curtains closed. The room was severely stuffy no matter what we did. There's no air conditioning, but they provide a fan that doesn't give any relief from the sun's heat. The rooms aren't soundproof at all. I could hear people on the other side of the bathroom flushing their toilet. I also got sick when I was there and went to the front desk to ask for a bottle of water that should come with the room because we didn't want housekeeping. The front desk wouldn't give me one and said I had to wait till the next day and ask housekeeping myself because housekeeping was done.
