What made it special wasn't complexity--it was simplicity done at an high level. I mean we may be bias as we came the day after we got married on our honeymoon BUT this place is outstanding. First off the prices are great for being downtown and having the vibe of an extremely high end restaurant but catering to the many. Our server was amazing as well and writing this a couple months late we apologize we can't remember the name because she was so sweet and when we told them what we were celebrating they even gave us a bottle of sparkling to go for free. Our favorite was definitely the gnudi. Total sleeper pick. We saw it mentioned in other reviews and decided to try it, not expecting much, but it was so freaking good. The brown butter, goat cheese, figs--everything in that dish was chef's kiss!!! Second favorite was the pork belly bao buns. These were part of their restaurant week menu, so not normally available, but we got lucky. The buns were pillowy soft and the pork belly was crispy on the outside, fatty and flavorful on the inside. All the other dishes were solid, but honestly we could've skipped the two steak dishes at the end and still been perfectly happy. Dessert was a win too. The Thai tea tres leches cake was super delicious and a fun twist on the classic. The gnudi and bao buns are what really pushed the food score up. Would 100% order those again. Creative flavors and a beautiful space--just a small miss We visited Camp Modern Eatery during Restaurant Week and were excited to try the 3 for $39 menu. The ambiance was modern and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We shared a cheese board to start with our drinks and enjoyed the variety of cheeses. For my dinner, i ordered the Pork Bites, Growing Greens Family Farms Salad, and the Flat Iron entrée. Unfortunately, the Pork Bites never made it to the table, which was disappointing since I was especially looking forward to the pork belly because our waiter mentioned it was his favorite. The pork bites had tamijang sauce, basmati, kimchi, cilantro, and peanuts. That said, the dishes I did receive were excellent. The salad was fresh and well-balanced--the maple yogurt dressing paired beautifully with the earthy beets and crunchy walnuts. The Flat Iron steak was tender and flavorful, served over a velvety sweet potato purée with crisp haricot verts and a bright persillade that brought it all together. To finish, we shared the Chocolate Cheesecake, and it was a standout. Our server told us it was the size of a newborn baby and he was not kidding. It was massive and so yummy. I asked for hot sauce and he brought us this amazing super spicy homemade sauce, which was so flavorful. My mom got the cheese board and she loved it. The inside of CAMP is always lovely. Beware of the bartender who services the outdoor bar on the plaza. He tried to short change my friend $10 when given a $20. He then proceeded to charge me $5 for a beer. The menu clearly stated the cost was $4. When I asked him what was the deal. He said, "Well, $4 plus tax then you know..." So he was adding in his tip. Usually these types ask "Do you want change?", but this jerk was bolder than that. UNREAL! I called the manager and told him to fire this guy. I've seen this type of service in heavily touristed areas and it's unfortunate to see that it is now happening in Greenville. Some standouts that I tried included the fish dip, red pepper bisque, and grilled octopus All three dishes had excellent flavor and felt unique. We also had the gambas, pork & shrimp dumplings, and pickles. The gambas were my least favorite. The flavor was more mild and didn't pack as much of a punch of the other dishes. I made reservations at least two weeks in advance.,.and we sat at a table...but unfortunately it was the transition area between kitchen, dining area and restroom... But this was not "noticed" until after sitting a bit . Anyways...in the dining area there is quite a bit of noise. This does make it difficult to talk with your dining companions . So afterwards I was a bit disappointed...as I had sat at the food bar previously and this noise was not as bad . The next thing we had was the shrimp Gambas...this was amazing.... perfectly steamed shrimp...on a sourdough toast soaked in this amazing flavorful -- spicy but not hot-- sauce with some veggies. ( It could have used a few more veggies)...I could have licked the bowl . Finally we had the tart dessert...this was also fantastic... A "fancy like" peaches and cream., although the peaches were roasted and the combination of all three in one bite was amazing! Service was great. Our waiter .. Chris was exceptional.. good suggestions, kind and effective Unfortunately I felt like it took a long time to get our drinks even though for a Friday it was not a busy as it could have been especially at the bar. We live in Hendersonville, NC and came down for an evening to celebrate our anniversary. We never go out for dinner and researched restaurants in the area to see what would be worth it for us. We looked through over 30 restaurants to see what would delight us and be interesting enough to keep our attention. We settled on Camp and made a reservation. Upon arriving, Kaylin (spelling might be wrong), took us to a table away from everyone. Which was perfect. Benny was our server, and he was patient, thoughtful and just perfect for us. We never felt rushed or as a burden. We tried the charcuterie, lion's mane, scallops, gnudi and some cocktails. The daily margaritas were peach vanilla & a cherry and allspice. They were well balanced and delicious to sip through the whole meal. The charcuterie was flavorful and interesting. We loved the concept of the lion's mane, having the crunchy exterior really changed my idea of how to use this ingredient. The scallops were perfectly cooked. The flavors worked well together. A tad salty for me, but I have a sensitive palate. The gnudi was delightful with honey, brown butter, fig and apple. It was fun to eat, flavorful and texturally really fun to eat. I love the location of camp modern eatery. It is in almost the center of Greenville; a newly developing work live plate complex with plenty of hotel living and food options. It's a very lively area with lots of traffic and people just having fun so if you're looking for that type of ambiance, I recommend this restaurant to you. I tried CAMP for lunch/breakfast so basically brunch it was pretty good. We had a large party with us, but they did a good job of getting the food out to all of us in a timely matter I got the Salchipapas, which were potatoes, pork tenderloin, plantain, avocado, cream, and salsa over an egg and I thought that it was pretty tasty. I probably would've ordered it with less creamer but overall I enjoyed it this restaurant is great if you are eating with someone who may have dietary restrictions such as vegan I came with my vegan cousin and he was able to order various options that he enjoyed as well.
