Pretty good, though tricky to get into since you must have a ticket to the current show at the Peace Center. I don't know what they do when there isn't a show (if that ever happens). The menu tends to rotate, so what I had may not be there when you get there. I went with the beef roast (not roast beef) sandwich, which was good, if not the best roast I've had. The au jus was real thick, almost a gravy; it really was a stellar idea. I normally think au jus makes sandwiches a bit soggy, but this just stayed on the surface. The side of Hasselback potatoes was good, but it was real small. Price-wise, this is cheap for its exclusivity, location, and fare. The most expensive thing on the menu was just over $20. Worth also mentioning is the peach compote over vanilla ice cream. That compote was about as Christmas-flavored as you could get and was fantastic. The ice cream wasn't bad either. Service-wise, it is a little slow, but I think that's the point. If you're here, you can't exit the theater between supper and the show, so they try to get you finished up by about 7-7:15, no matter when you came in. Also, even though we didn't use this, they will prep dessert for you to have during intermission. The river and outdoor stage views from this place are also great, and the high ceilings and lighting make it feel like fancy like a meal before a play should. read more

I made an Open Table reservation for bar seating before the show as I often do (Sat 2/14 Conf #30375). We showed up on time at 1:15pm but no one was at the hostess stand. After asking waitstaff for help the manager came up at 1:25. I told him we had reservations and he briefly looked at the computer and said the bar seats were full but we could sit outside (in the wind and cold). I reiterated that a table should be waiting for us because that's what reservations are for. He then said "well it's 1:25" as if this were my fault. Apparently they were letting walk ins take whatever seats they wanted. Finally he looked me in the eye and rudely said "yes I gave your table away." No apology whatsoever. Then I find out he didn't check us into Open Table so the company thinks I was a no show and they have a pretty strict policy about that. The manager should severely reprimanded or fired. read more

What a great place to eat before a show at the Peace Center! We had tickets to the Nutcracker, so I made reservations to eat here beforehand. The ambiance and view was wonderful, and we were seated immediately. The bar offered a variety of good liquors, wines, beers, and cocktails so I enjoyed my favorite scotch. We started with a nice charcuterie board that had a tasty assortment. My wife then had a salad and I went with the minestrone. For entrees she ordered the beef stew while I enjoyed their unique twist on shrimp and grits. A savory blend of tasty and some sweetness. Grapes! Seemed weird originally, but it works. The best aspect of the night was that the show has a planned intermission, so we ordered our cheesecake and opera cake desserts with some hot teas to be at our reserved table so we could have these refreshments during the 20 minute break. We went into the beautiful theatre, watched the first half of the ballet, then came back to the restaurant to find our desserts and tea sitting there waiting for us! We were able to enjoy this repast, then be comfortably back in our seats before the show resumed. Service was excellent, and this was a fantastic way to celebrate the Christmas Season. Usually I love the food and the atmosphere. Great place to have drinks and food before a show. I just want people to know that the lobster Mac n cheese has no cheese. It has TONS of lobster but is advertised as Mac n cheese which it is not. Also, are you a chocolate lover? The dark chocolate mousse torte is outstanding! Drinks are pricey but for those of us who don't get out much, we don't mind. read more

Food was lacking in flavor and heating. Service was chaotic. We had a 6p reservation. Opened at 5:30, only a few other tables filled at the time. We ordered a charcuterie board to start and there was barely enough on there for two of us. Advertised house made pickles, none. The nuts were really stale. Very disappointed with it. Ordered a wine and a cocktail. Received the cocktail, but wine didn't show up until I asked about it, then received it after some time. For our meal we ordered the wine-braised short ribs and the Mushroom Ragout with chicken breast. Received dinner quite quickly, but I think they forgot to warm it up. Our food was warm to cold. Didn't receive the chicken with the Ragout. Let the server know, she went back and retrieved it. Disappointed when it was an oversized Cornish game hen leg...not chicken breast, which meant 3/4 of it was bone. Overall just really disappointed. We traveled over 2 hours for a mini-vacation and this experience just dashed it all. I would not recommend eating at Genevieve's. Your money is better spent elsewhere. read more

Wanted to try this place for the first time so we made a reservation to eat before our show. It took a little while for someone to come and take our order. After taking our order we sat for 30+ minutes waiting on food. A different member of the wait staff brought us an appetizer that was supposed to go a different table. We asked about ours food and we were told it would be right out. Fifteen more minutes go by and we watch everyone around us getting their food. After close to an hour of waiting we flag down the waiter and let him know we are leaving. He was shocked and offered to get his manager but at that point we had no food and the show was starting. Booked this place just so we could have drinks and dessert ready for intermission. The drinks were amazing, ambience was perfect, and the food was really good! I already felt so fancy attending a Peace Center musical in my cocktail dress but visiting Genevieve's before the show for an appetizer and drinks made the evening even more special! You can make a free dinner reservation via their website if you are attending a show. If you just want to experience Genevieve's, I think you can just walk-in; there were plenty of tables available even immediately prior to the show. My favorite part is that your table is reserved for intermission AND you can pre-order drinks/food so that you're not scrambling to make it back on time for the second half of the show. I was delighted to see my Dark and Stormy cocktail on the table waiting for me during intermission! The view is also fantastic! You can see the TD stage, the Reedy river and the bustling downtown from their floor to ceiling windows. Their drinks menu includes a full bar with a variety of cocktails, wine and draft beers. Their food menu consists of mainly appetizers/tapas so smaller in size but still delicious. The options are limited in terms of food but I wasn't expecting to see a complete restaurant menu. read more

We stopped here for dinner as the location makes it very easy to get to your show on time, and previous visits have been very nice. I will say the staff and our server were all very pleasant and kind. First up ordered the hummus with "warm pita" as an appetizer, with chicken corn chowder and lobster roll for entrees. My husband's chowder came out with the hummus, we figured maybe the lobster roll takes a bit more time... pita bread was cold and stale. My husband did enjoy his chowder. After asking twice about my entree it finally came out 40 minutes later. And there were about 6 small pieces of meat on the roll. It was tasty though. I was quite disappointed with the very limited menu. We've decided next show we'll likely eat at another restaurant. read more

Decided to try this spot because I had tickets for a show at the Peace Center, and two friends on Yelp suggested it. Great ambiance, nice view of Reedy River. We were promptly seated and our server (Kayla) was there intorducing herself and prepared to take our drink orders within 2 minutes. Side note: She was an excellent server. Request her section when you visit this restaurant. We ordered the sliders, the meat tray, and the jambalaya fritters. The sliders and meat tray were flavorful and extremely appealing. The jambalaya fritters is the reason for 4 stars and not 5. They weren't horrible, they just could have been executed better. During intermission, we had the pleasure of Jeanette as our server. Again, great server and when you go visit, she is another server I highly recommend. We asked for coffee and she had it out to us so quick, we were able to enjoy a refill before the intermission was over. Great service! All in all, a good experience. Visited recently to see a fantastic FAC Jazz performance. Sound was great and the atmosphere felt really positive. We chose table B11 because it was in the corner and less centralized to the crowd (Covid). There was a limited order-ahead small plate menu. We weren't entirely sure what to expect, but the food was very good and portions were substantial. The wait staff was friendly and on the ball. My only complaint would be that there were no straws offered with the drinks and no silverware with the food - ordinarily no biggie but a little strange during the pandemic for safety reasons. *Food pic is from plates almost finished. We stopped here prior to Hamilton hoping for an afternoon bite which was their advertised menu. The server then promptly said oh you can only order off the breakfast menu, it was 11:30! We order hummus which came with stale pita bread and dried up vegetables. We then ordered chicken and waffles which came lukewarm at best. We witnessed several servers trying to bring us food (that we hadn't ordered). They need to button up how runners identify proper tables! Menu is a bit limited, as it should be. It has floor to ceiling two story glass walls, wrapping balcony (great for outdoor concerts), and unbeatable view of the Reedy River. Seating includes bar, large high top tables (8pp) for groups, romantic two tops and four tops as well. The menu is limited, but it has something for everyone and features a more modern twist on its offerings. I would definitely get there earlier before a show then later if you like a leisurely dinner. As the time gets closer to the show, there are more people, the kitchen gets a little backed up, etc. So make your decisions early, put your order in for everything and ask for the check 20+ minutes before you want to leave. read more

There was the night we couldn't get our food at a nearby restaurant in time before the curtain was going up, so we arrived at Peace famished. At intermission we headed to Genevieve's and explained our situation. They were eager to assemble a selection of small plates quickly so we could be fed and return to the performance! Totally "over and above" service. Since then we regularly arrange for Prosecco to be delivered to the box each time we attend a performance! And the night we just weren't into a show? We left and headed to Genevieve's for dessert, which we enjoyed on the patio overlooking the Reedy River...and the Pokemon People! We feel as if we've adopted Drew! This is not clear on their website, and since you enter through the Peace Center lobby, it may be scaring folks off. Do not be scared off! You are missing a great experience. We made a reservation, and when we sat down, we told our waitress we weren't attending the show, so she didn't have to hurry us through. At 7:50pm, all the other diners went into the show, and we suddenly had the restaurant to ourselves. It was awesome...spectacular Greenville views, beautiful space...all to ourselves. What a treat. We relaxed back and sampled our way through the menu, enjoying some great craft cocktails along with the eclectic and delicious courses. My only comment is that the cheese plate was quite large...better for 3+ people to share as an appetizer. I'm not sure why people are saying that the service is poor at Genevieve's. I'm here as we speak and the service has been IMPECCABLE!!! I am here before the Saturday 2:OO showing of Les Miserables (a sold out show). I arrived at 12:30 (I had a reservation for 12 but arrived late - not a problem). I am a party of one but was treated incredibly well, even when I asked for a table change (the black, wicker chairs are too narrow and uncomfortable for a normal to plus size person). They happily switched me to a high top that is supposed to seat 4 but it was just me! I am WOWED by the Monte Cristo sandwich! Not only is it amazing, it's HUGE! Because of the yummy bechamel sauce and gruyere cheese it is definitely a fork and knife sandwich, especially when dressed up for a performance. I substituted the sweet potato fries for the fresh fruit that was supposed to come with it and that was no problem either. My server, Amber, was very attentive and another server walking by asked me if everything was good (it was!). I am SO impressed with everything here - location, food, prices, service, decor! Pre-show dinner -- appetizer, dinner and dessert. Service was MEH. Food portions & quality MEH. Ordered charcuterie. No crackers. When we saw our waitress again, we were already halfway through it, but mentioned the lack of crackers. Waitress did not offer any correction. Minestrone soup was good. Chicken sliders order consisted of two small sliders that were a bit blah and chips which actually were very good. Portion way too small for price. Ordered coffee& dessert. Since we were headed to the show, we cashed out before the dessert and coffee arrived. Well, the coffee never arrived. The dessert came, but we never did see our waitress again. So I paid for coffees never received. View is lovely and pre-show music fantastic. Hopefully they'll correct the food quality control, I mean, missing crackers on a charcuterie, and never bringing coffee. We purchased the season package for the Peace Center so we'll be going all the time. Unfortunately, we will not be going to Genevieves. read more

Beware of making a reservation here. They don't honor it. I have had a reservation for a table of six for this restaurant since June 26. I made the reservation FOUR MONTHS in advance, making it on the same day I bought tickets for an Oct. 25 concert at the Peace Center. This morning, just nine days before the concert, Genevieve's sent an email canceling our reservation to "accommodate a private event." To "make amends for any inconvenience," I'll get a free drink at the concert. Oh, gee, thanks! The sales manager claimed to my husband that the restaurant called everyone with a dinner reservation last week to cancel. That's still bad but it's also simply not true. I actually called the restaurant last week myself to see if I could expand the reservation to eight people, so two other friends could join us. I left very specific messages on the restaurant's voicemail and with the box office giving the day, time and name on the reservation. No one called me back. This morning's email is the first notice that I'll need to find a new reservation for a pre-concert dinner for six people at the same time that all other concert-goers with reservations are suddenly scrambling as well. My husband and I go to concerts ALL the time. This may be our last trip to the Peace Center. It will certainly be the last time I bother making a dinner reservation there. read more

I love tapas (small plates) because it allows me to try new foods without investing in a full meal. And the quality of the tapas at Genevieve's is exceptional. Everything we've tried here has been so delicious, most recently the flatbread and pimento cheese fritters with pineapple slaw. The staff is very friendly and prompt. The ambiance and service here are excellent. I ordered the "Genevieve" cocktail and found it very refreshing and delicious. The meat tray, however, left a lot to be desired. The "artesian" cheeses were a few slices of what seemed to be Cracker Barrel cheddar and Swiss. There was no grilled bread as listed on the menu. Beautiful views of the downtown Greenville area, large open space for dining, and small; but lively, bar area. We stopped in before a Peace Center show to have appetizers and drinks. The cocktail list is interesting and they offer craft beer as well. They also offer a small wine by the glass and bottle menu. The food menu is limited to small plates and appetizers, and the night we were there they were out of a few of those, so I did not get to taste much of their food. Overall, a lovely experience with incredible views of downtown, conversation, a nice bottle of wine, and a couple of appetizers. Warm and friendly service. I would love to see a more aggressive food menu, but I would still go back with the menu as it is. Also, the tables and chairs in the dining room do not match the vibe of the venue. The tables and chairs look weathered, old, and depressing (think wooden school desk meets prison canteen table). I realize this could be by design, but they looked oddly out of place in this space. You do not have to have a Peace Center ticket to experience Genevieve's, so stop by and have a cocktail and check it out. read more

The chickpea hummus was served with olive tapenade and fresh made chips, such a nice balance between creamy, salty, and crunch. Pleasant setting but the service was incredibly slow and by the time the food got to us it was lukewarm. I couldn't detect either shrimp or grits in the Shrimp and Grits. To top it off, they appeared to oversell the seats for the music that was featured so we were left to stand on a wall to see the artist. 110% worth visiting when at the peace center for a play! This was our third show, but our first time at Genevieve's. We booked a table online ahead of time, which was super convenient. When we walked in, we were blown away with the gorgeous view and decor. We were sat promptly and started with wine and a cocktail. Both were great and about $10 each. They are serving a winter menu, which is different than the one online. We tried the jambalaya fritters, beef sliders, vegetarian shepard's pie, and the opera torte. All were yummy and different.. The shepard's pie was very hearty with a fun mixture of flavors. My favorite of the evening, minus the opera torte! At around $10 a plate, I thought the prices were great. We ordered drinks for intermission, and it was so fun to pop down and have them there waiting for us. A server played a xylophone to give a five minute heads up for the show resuming. So fun!!
