    Seared tuna
    Denise S.

Extremely busy and very noisy restaurant, bar on one side and restaurant on the other. Looks like the locals hangout....dark and nice ambiance, but very close seating. Plenty of staff that were friendly and efficient, service was 5 stars! Ordered the burrata salad- very good. For our entree I ordered the seared tuna which was good-4 stars, it came on a dry and somewhat hard rice bed, and cabbage was too thickly sliced and hard. Hubby got the swordfish ---good but portions of it were overcooked-3 stars. Grilled broccoli, tomato and potatoes accompanied the fish were ok. Banana foster cheesecake was so-so, dry and graham cracker crust was way too thick! - 2 stars. When we made the reservation, they asked if there was any special occasion and also when we arrived, they asked if there was a special occasion we were celebrating which we were...my 70th birthday yet there was no complementary dessert or drink or anything offered, which was fine would I eat here again ? probably.

Stopped by Coral and really enjoyed the experience. We were seated right away, the hostess was super friendly, and the vibe of the place was great. Our server, Aneel, was awesome--had a fun personality, knew the menu well, and gave us some great tips on what to try. Even the GM and owner came by to say hi, which was a nice touch. We ordered the Halibut, the Sea Scallops, and a Caesar Salad, plus some warm bread with Coastal Butter. The Halibut was one of the best I've had, and the scallops were spot on too. Definitely recommend putting Coral on your list of places to check out.

The food is incredible! Try oysters four different ways, move onto a delicious entree, and then go for dessert. Along the way, sample their exquisite drinks

First time at Coral. Celebrating Valentine's Day early. Our server, Sonny, was fantastic, he made great recommendations. We had the ceviche for appetizer. We had the Chilean Sea Bass & the Lamb chops. The food was all delicious! And for dessert, we had the crème brûlée & sticky toffee pudding. Yum!!

Super hopping for a weekday night - lots of people chatting all around the bar, and every seat filled up with various parties! Treated myself to the Orange Bliss, and the Seared Scallops entree! The drink was great, not super strong which I appreciated. The orange and vanilla notes paired super well. The Seared Scallops were tasty - loved the charred tomato paired with the creamy risotto. The scallops themselves had a slight bitterness but were otherwise super tender and tasty. Great place to swing by!

The BAR area - it's LOUD

First time visiting and celebrating our anniversary! We had made a reservation 2-3 weeks prior via Resy and all went as planned. We entered the restaurant, which opens into a hostess stand just offset from a sizable bar area, it was 6:30 PM on a Thursday night. The bar was crowded and it was very loud, but not really annoyingly loud, but very loud. Our table was one of the half circle booths that was situated as the very first table as one enters the dining area from the bar area in such a way that we could survey the entire dining area from our perch and about a third of the bar area. Initially, I thought this would be too loud and distracting, akin to getting that one table closest to either the kitchen traffic or the restrooms - you know what I mean. But it turned out to be more intimate since we were able to comfortably be seated side by side and this made for good, shared people watching. After surveying the menu selection of the "small plates" and then the entree's, we decided to go with several small plates, tapas style, instead of the entree section. One reason for this choice really is that I love to cook and we have many of the entree's proteins on a reasonably good rotation and there were a lot of unique things we don't normally get that were on the tapas side. It seemed that with our intimate seating, the catbirds seat really, and being our anniversary (26 yrs), sharing a variety of dishes together fit into the romantic theme for the dinner. So the first selection was a kind of thematic surf and turf with an order of the ceviche, a shrimp cocktail and an order of the beef carpaccio. The ceviche was a mixture of halibut, shrimp, avocado, tomato, drop peppers, onion, mango in citrus and served with blue corn chips. The carpaccio was thinly sliced and topped with a local cheese (Forx Farm Parmesan). We chose a dozen raw oysters, half James River and half from PNW; and lastly we split a classic wedge salad. Our excellent waiter, Danny, was attentive. He suggested we start with the oysters and salads and then progress to a second "course" of the surf and turf. This was also wise due to the size of the table and space availability. Everything was excellent. And consider the choices. I'm probably not making ceviche or carpaccio at home. I'm probably not getting raw oysters from two distinctly different sources at home either. It worked out to be a kind of tasting menu. We also had a nice conversation with Chris, one of the owners, who came by to wish us a happy anniversary. He was busy, both the bar and restaurant were hopping, yet he took time to answer a couple of questions and made us feel welcomed One of those questions centered on their gluten free options. He explained how their food preparation process allowed chef to pivot his approach in the food preparation to make most items gluten free, depending on the degree of sensitivity. The atmosphere of the restaurant was romantic, also bustling, and yet felt intimate. The food and service were both home runs. Even the restroom was roomy and surprisingly very clean even though there were a lot of patrons in both the bar and dining area obviously taking advantage of the facilities. This is a tightly run and pleasant restaurant. I would definitely recommend this as a top option for date night. However, there were a few tables that could seat larger parties (an 8 seat round top for example) that clearly had business diners present. So it's a good option for business dinners too. Reservations are highly recommended. We also enjoyed a complimentary anniversary chocolate dessert to help us celebrate!

Wow! I believe this is the best that Greenville has to offer. We very much enjoyed our dinner here on a busy Friday evening. We arrived a few minutes early, and our table was reserved and waiting for us. The ambiance was loud and lively and dimly lit. We were seated and given a few minutes to choose our cocktails. Our server, Phil, was very kind and efficient and meticulously took our orders. We chose the bread and butter to start, and ordered the blackened salmon, grilled swordfish, and the vegetable curry with shrimp. Everything came out hot and plated beautifully. Cooked to perfection, the flavors were outstanding, and we each finished every bit on our plates. Another note about the service: In addition to our server, we had multiple others who consistently checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The staff here is amazing, and it appeared the owners were also making their rounds to the tables. This is how you create a fabulous dining experience in my opinion. I will say it's a bit overpriced, but worth it when you know it's not just about the food. Our new favorite in downtown GVL.

Updating to say Coral has easily become one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville! The service is impeccable, the food is delicious, and I dream about the sticky toffee pudding.

I've been to Coral a few times now and can confidently say this is one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville. Food is always solid and drinks are great. Good spot for espresso martinis or wine, I haven't tried too many of the other cocktails on the menu. Wine list is solid. Appetizers are amazing - bread and their "ocean butter" is great, and the ceviche is to die for! (Though the ceviche portion is pretty small for the price.) They do have non-seafood options for the main course, I haven't tried those but looked good my observations. I've tried almost all seafood entrees and they've all been really good. Fish is always cooked to perfection and comes with some sort of veggies or sides, so it makes a good sized portion. (You can always add sides - my favorite are duck fat fries or whipped potatoes!!) The staff are friendly and check on you often, though sometimes service can be a little slow, so if you're trying to eat quickly and get out fast, this probably isn't the spot for it. Both the bar area and the main restaurant area are quite busy in the evening especially on weekends, and can be a little loud. A reservation is a must if you plan to eat in the dining area.

Coral really blew me away! Dined here with a group of 6 in town for a conference. The service was excellent. Everyone we interacted with was so attentive and fun. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone bite was excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed the grouper special. I wish I could remember how it was seasoned and what the sauce was but it was so wonderfully unique! The rosemary truffle mac and cheese broke my brain. The rosemary and truffle were perfectly subtle and the mac and cheese itself was so creamy. Which is so so hard to get right. The Belgian waffle cake was also excellent. I'm generally not a desert person but I've never seen a desert like it and had to try. They nailed the flavor! Also really enjoyed the toasted marshmallow old fashioned. The restaurant was packed so was a little loud, but still manageable. Hope life brings me back to Greenville again soon to give Coral another visit.

Easy walk across the bridge from the Bohemian Hotel. You need reservations here- there is very limited bar seating otherwise. We ordered and an hour + later our food arrived. We had: A single crab cake $23- delicious, not fishy at all 5/5 Fish and chips- $17- fries were very good (cooked in duck fat)- 3/5 Fish was flavorless but the aoli dipping sauce was good. The fries were above average. Swordfish- $32 - 4/5 lacking seasoning but the sides were amazing and flavorful + 1 mediocre cocktail Total $90.19 The service was extremely slow but there were multiple staff checking tables from time to time.

Amazing! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner at Coral last night. The staff were so attentive and personable with several members stopping by our table to wish us a Happy Anniversary and ensuring our experience was perfect. Our server, Jasmine, was fabulous! My husband could not stop talking about the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer & of course the Toffee Pudding dessert that they are famous for. We will be back soon!

An amazing patio overlooking one of the main streets of downtown Greenville, with a cozy interior ambiance as well. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable of the local food, drinks and their amazing wine selection. Soby's just won the Wine Spectator Grand Award (highest possible) and a Michelin recommended restaurant for 2025. And it shows. We didn't get any wine this evening, but the menu is as thick as a long novel. Anything and everything is in this puppy. Wines from all over the world, ranging from a few bucks to over $13,000 a bottle. Take your pick. We opted for some beer and cocktails, all of which were perfect. The food. This southern inspired menu with local ingredients was fantastic. We had a spicy pimento cheese app with crispy pita and pickled okra...delish! The beet and goat cheese salad was one of the best we've had. The pic speaks for itself there. The Soby's fried chicken is something you HAVE to get if you go. The best fried chicken, with the best bacon mac n cheese to complement it. Tender and juicy, crispy and flavorful...these words don't even scratch the surface of how good this dish was. Top notch experience all around. Make it a point to try it out if you haven't yet, or if you're in town for a visit. And definitely get that chicken dish, yo won't regret it.

Verdict: Come for the ambience and the white chocolate banana cream pie, stay for the gravy, and…read morehope your eggs don't spend too long in the "spotlight." Soby's serves Southern charm before the food even hits the table. (And if your experience is anything like mine, you will be waiting awhile for the food to hit the table.) Weathered wood beams stretch overhead, brick walls hold decades of character, and the warm lighting makes the whole room glow like butter on a hot biscuit. The kitchen hums with the kind of energy that says brunch is serious business. If you sit upstairs at the loft, there are some seats that overlook the kitchen so it's like brunch and a show. The pecan sticky bun is sweet enough to make you reconsider sharing though I wouldn't know because they ran out of it before 11:00a. Service was friendly and quick on the front end, though the kitchen's food expeditors seemed a little short-handed. The result? A slight wait that left some eggs spending a bit too much quality time under the heat lamps. My Shakshuka dish had an egg-istential crisis. Instead of that luscious over-easy river of yolk, the eggs arrived closer to hard-boiled territory--less "runny brunch bliss" and more "deviled egg audition." Thankfully, our waiter expedited another over easy egg to replace the one that came with my dish. The Providence Farm Country Fried Steak was the undeniable headliner--about 1.5 inches thick and fried to golden perfection. Smothered in sausage gravy, it was the kind of dish that makes cardiologists nervously flip through their calendars. The flavor? Steak-ing its claim as one of the better country fried steaks around. The sunny-side egg, however, had clearly spent a little too long basking beneath the warming lights alongside my shakshuka. But, if you come for one thing only, let it be the white chocolate banana cream pie. As I've heard Southern Belles say in gest, "it'll make you wanna slap your mama." In short: rustic atmosphere, an energetic kitchen, and Southern food that doesn't just butter you up--it grits straight to the point.

IIIII like good food and I cannot lie…read more.... I will preface this all by saying I have been coming to Greenville for almost 15 years for work. maybe only once a year but still... I love the city and the people. Fall for Greenville is fantastic!! Onto my review -- I was visiting Greenville for work this past week and was staying at the Aloft. I did a quick online search for a new food / dining destination when i saw ABYSS... Since it is right beside my hotel I decide to give it a go! Wow, what a treat. I sat at the bar. Bartender was top shelf Ali i think... She made me a paper plane without having to look it up . The happy hour menu was a pretty amazing value so i tried a couple of pieces from it. Bluefin "nachos" ie wontons.... Great!! Scallops and bacon sliders.. great!! Then I decided to also add the Wagyu - crispy rice. Also great!! But you know what else really sets this place apart? The Fries! Crazy but here's my take. Everyone is doing fancy pretentious, parm, truffle garlic blah blah blah.... These fries had a unique slender (thin but wide) cut, seasoned lightly. and cooked to perfection. you can tell they take it all very seriously here. from the Chefs all the way to the greeters. It's like they all took Yes chef training at "The Bear" IYKYK...Fantastic attentive service. Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again!

It was okay. Would probably not get again. The main courses are amazing. You cannot go wrong. Dessert is fair. The hazelnut dessert for a birthday person is the best and not even on the menu. The tiramisu was fair .different in that it was very dense. Overall this is quite expensive. The estimated tip on the receipt it's based on the meal plus taxes. So be aware of this. My advice for this place is stick with basic drinks, get the entrees and pass on dessert.

After spending the day downtown, we went back to refresh and headed over to Coupe's Corner for the evening. When we first pulled up and saw a line outside, we almost changed our minds. Thankfully, we stayed because the line moved surprisingly fast. We probably waited no more than 10 minutes, and we even met some really nice people while waiting. Once inside, we quickly realized the space is much larger than it appears from the outside. In addition to the indoor area, there's a patio space in the back that gives you even more room to enjoy the atmosphere. It was definitely crowded, but in a good way. The energy was great, the crowd was mature and age-appropriate, and the overall vibe was exactly what we were looking for. The music was on point, with different music playing inside and outside, giving guests options depending on their mood. The drinks were phenomenal, and our bartender was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Although they serve food, we didn't get a chance to try it because the kitchen was closing for the night. Since they're located downtown and close at midnight, the kitchen closes accordingly. However, our bartender shared that they're opening a second location that will stay open later, which means longer kitchen hours as well. We also had the opportunity to meet the owner, who was very friendly and welcoming. Service, atmosphere, music, and drinks were all top-tier. The only minor thing worth mentioning is that the hallway connecting the indoor and outdoor areas is a bit narrow and can become congested, especially since it's also where the restrooms are located. Overall, this place gets a solid 10 out of 10 from me. Great service, great drinks, great music, and an amazing atmosphere. The vibe was absolutely vibing, and I would definitely return the next time I'm in Greenville.
