How have I not known about this spot for so long? Charming, wonderful restaurant. Felt like visiting friends in a farmhouse in France. Not that I have many of those but I imagine this is what it would look like. The food and service were excellent. Our waiter Kevin was so friendly and easy to talk to. The French onion soup was different from the usual burnt top-heavy soup that you usually get, and on the contrary, was very light and yet flavorful. The chicken entree and beet salad were great, too. The only item that was just OK was the creme brulee. My expectations had gotten too high by the time we got to dessert. This dessert item was served on the house to Mom, with a personalized greeting and lit candle, for her birthday. Really lovely place for dinner on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. There was live music - acoustic guitar player. We sat outside on the patio next to the water fountain. Service is fast and friendly. The new ahi tuna nicoise salad was delicious! Huge portion of ahi tuna for $27, with white and black sesame seed crust. The egg was perfectly almost hard boiled. Others at the table enjoyed the half roasted chicken, the duck, and the seabass. Wines are a little bit on the higher end around $17-19 per glass. Dined outside for brunch, delicious food and great service! This is the boutique hotel's restaurant and for COVID precautions we chose to sit outside. During lunch hours there were no sun on our seating area and the staff were nice enough to bring us two heaters. The brunch food was excellent. We love the benedicts as they were so well executed with the egg running down to the smoke salmon and crab cakes. The crab cakes tasted fresh, so is the crab omelet. The mushroom crepe is also delicious as it has a good amount of fresh mushrooms and spinach. Service is great and patient with us, what a perfect lunch! Dog friendly as well and the inside of the hotel was elegantly decorated, making a restroom run pleasant. We only wish they have a big enough table cloth for our big table of 8. We had Easter Brunch and opted to sit outdoors as the weather cooperated. Staff greeted us immediately at reception which is the quaint lobby of the En Chanté Boutique Hotel. We ordered a bottle of their sparkling rosé and the duck croquettes to start. Both delivered right away but we didn't taste any duck but more potatoes - flat. Our meals; salmon Benedict, salmon omelette and croissant au salmon - all decent serving portions and not too bad flavors but nothing outstanding. Our server Kevin was pleasant and attentive. As other reviews have stated, street traffic makes conversation tough - even on Sunday. The restroom is clean and decor depicts one from a country chateau. This place is a little off-beat in several respects. It's bizarrely small without the exterior patio, maybe 4-5 tables in and adjacent to the boutique hotel lobby. The location is nice but off -- right downtown but on kind of a peninsula into street traffic sticking into one of the busiest intersections in otherwise sleepy Los Altos. It looks pretty, but the cars whizzing by subtracts something. They say it's French and it is, kind of. They have onion soup and crepes and snails and steak frites. But they also have good non-French items. The decor is French inside but the building is almost more Tuscany on the outside. The music, and maybe I'm just "lucky," but every time I go to this place there is music, always too loud, always off key, but always the right songs. But in the wrong place. I don't want live music on an outdoor patio in a busy intersection on a Monday night in Los Altos. First Fridays, sure. Monday night? Not so much. The service is friendly but always (on a grand total of like 3 visits) slow to take off. It took forever to order a drink. Then it picked it. Always friendly, but initially slow. The striking thing about this place was the food. The peach / tomato / burrata salad special was really good. The sea bass special was really, really good, perfectly cooked. As was my friend's salmon. Visited for Sunday brunch. The food was okay, but overpriced, and the service was simply terrible. Our party was seated and then had to wait about 10 minutes before a server came by. Once we placed our orders, the server didn't collect menus; it was left to us to collect them and move them aside. It was 35-40 minutes after we ordered before our omelettes and benedicts arrived (in fact, we had to ask another server to give them a nudge). When our food finally arrived, two orders were wrong; the server said the words that corresponded to our orders as the plates were put down, but the food didn't always match the words. My salmon omelette was a small, two-egg omelette with a tiny amount of salmon in it--maybe a fish stick, if that. They want $25 for that? Another of our party opened their salmon omelette and couldn't find any evidence of fish inside at all. We poured our own water; the server never did. Nor did the server check or refill our three (quickly emptied) water bottles. They try to make the place look French, with French items on the walls and furniture. But the food and service put them at the bottom of French restaurants I've patronized and are in no way commensurate with the prices they charge. We won't be returning. read more

I didn't make it in time for breakfast, so I decided to dine inside for lunch. No waiting on a weekday morning. Excellent staff service. Waitor was friendly and attentive. Waitress was multitasking. Definitely clean and organized inside. Customers were visitors from out of town or on business trips or staying at the hotel. They were all very conversational and friendly. I was warmly greeted and selected my own seating since they were not busy. I ordered crab cakes which came with the huge green salad and a perfect French onion soup for dining, and then a mushroom crepe for takeout. Ingredients were very fresh and yummy. Everything tasted authentic and for a moment, it felt like a little warm escape to France again. Total was over $60 and I still tipped them at least $10 because they deserved it. Portions were very generous. It was a very stress-free day and I found easy free public parking behind the hotel building. Foods were flavorful and it felt very colorful too. I was enjoying the French poster on the wall next to my table. Everything was excellent. There wasn't anything I disliked about being there. I would still want to try the breakfast next time. The service is not good. Right away a man took our order so it seemed great . We just sat down and already with us . The problem is after we give our order . It took forever to get the drinks but then the food came fast after . But then parts of the meal was missing and I figured they would bring it out and never did . We also wanted a second drink and not once a waiter checked back in with us. They dropped off the food and moved on . We also heard other people around us asking if they can get a waiter to whoever would walk outside . Finally another waiter came by that wasn't the initial one to take my empty plate . I let him know we missed some food and he responded like wow that's weird it was forgotten . I then asked for a second drink . About 15 minutes later we got our additional food that was supposed to come with our breakfast and I never got the drink . And then ghosted completely . We had to walk in to pay the bill and get a box . The food is good . The location is great . The service needs a lot of work . It wasn't just us but we can see people around us getting agitated . Being a South Floridian where brunch usually involve music, I'll say that it was a one and done for me but mainly for other reasons . The food is "tre magnifique" and the setting is very elegant!! My favorite is the French Dip with french fries, although I have enjoyed the steak as well, and my husband loves the Salmon over Mediterranean Salad. I highly recommend the Burrata Aperitif (cheese, arugula on crostinis) and the Creme Brulee for dessert. We went recently had dinner at Champagne on 1st Friday (of the month) and the band was rockin' on the patio, but not so loud that we couldn't have great conversation inside. As a hotel guest you get 2 free glasses of wine and a cheese plate each night.. the wine is any choice off the menu, had the Pinot noir Pali Huntington, it was very good. The cheese plate came with salami and sausage slices with blue and another white cheese, not sure what ur was,bread, figs and mustard, it was also good. I order a chicken Caesar salad for dinner, the one thing I actually paid for :) but, it was very bland the chicken came in cold, croutons were house made and good. I would suggest asking them to grill the chicken or see if there is a different meat option. The portion wasn't huge, but perfect for me- especially after the cheese plate! The menu is very small, the waitress was pretty slow and hard to get attention to even though there were only 3 tables occupied, but she was very friendly. I feel bad giving any place 3 stars, but they could do so much more with a little more effort. First off they have a great location and a beautiful patio. Their ingredients were fresh and the food was decent. However, simple things like cappuccino, latte etc are not on point. Latte was served in a large beer glass with the milk to coffee proportions being off. Cappuccino wasn't the best either and the food could do with a little innovation. What a wonderful restaurant! Food was delicious and great ambiance at this restaurant. Despite being short staff they took care of our table and we hardly knew they were down servers. Everyone was friendly and from the owner to the general manager and the hostess everyone helped to make our experience a great one. We had such a wonderful evening and I highly recommend this place.
