There is room to sit and there is a standing room area where they put out snacks throughout the bar. Great bartenders and well made drinks. I got to try the "shakerado" for the first time. La Chica drink - Ruby note, lime, agave, pink grapefruit soda was ok I guess but nothing stands out. Sparkling and Sweet. The waiters were very serious about ordering hot drinks items. As soon as I walked in and they said no hot drinks right now because it was after 4pm. I was not even there to order hot drinks. I just needed a place to sit for a while. Service was not good. We wanted to experience the iconic, historic Camparino in Galleria but we did not have a reservation. Luckily, we were able to pay for 2 spritzes at the host stand, bring our reciept to the bar, and enjoy our drinks at the bar - standing room/area only. It was happy hour so we got a few dollars off the spritzes. They were expertly made. There were snacks on the counter. It was well worth the experience. It was definetly crowded so I wouldn't go with a large group but 2-4 people should be okay on a week night, off season, etc. read more

The service is impeccable. The waiters attention to detail is on point. The ambiance makes you feel comfortable. It feels like a formal place but you can dress how you want. Of course you are in Milan so dress to impress. But there doesn't seem to be a strict dress code. The food presentation is as if I'm eating at a Michelin star restaurant. Classic location with great views of the Duomo and Galleria. Popped in for a few apperitivos and really enjoyed the experience of this historic location where Campari was first served. I had an Americano and the tried the barrel aged Boulevardier. Both were excellent and drinks of course are served with snacks. We also tried the fried sardines which were very good. We made our reservations a few months prior to our arrival and so glad we did as there was always a line for entrance to Aparativo. We were lead through the crowd to the upstairs sort of secret bar area where a few locals were also celebrating their evening. Amazing and wonderful food provided during aparativo (Happy Hour in Italy) and each plate is comes when you order your drinks. Compari is King and the craft cocktails are amazing. We selected traditional and contemporary to try a few. Our dinner was delicious as well and the service is high end. I highly recommend this experience. read more

We stopped in for aperitivo which, by the way, is frankly one of the greatest inventions known to mankind and I want someone to explain to me why the person who invented it is not held to the same regard as isaac newton or leonardo da vinci. This place is a great place for aperitivo because of its located literally right next to the famous duomo and the striking views it provides. Every member of the service team was friendly and made us feel welcomed. After consuming my body weight in aperol spritz's and campari, we wanted to switch it up and both ordered their negroni sbagliato. I have the palate of a two year old and therefore strongly dislike anything remotely bitter and therefore am not a huge fan of campari but continue to order and drink it anyway. This, as expected, served that campari punch but it was as enjoyable as could be. The snacks provided were what I initially thought was an olive but most likely giant capers, seasoned almonds, chips, and some little pastries including that spinach filled one that is delicious. Our time there was lovely with a beautiful view, nice weather, strong drinks and tasty drinks and I would definitely recommend this place as a spot to enjoy aperitivo. read more

As of this review Camparino in Galleria is in the Top 100 Best Bars. It really deserves that title! There are two bars inside their corner establishment - the bottom bar/restaurant is walk in based with no reservations, but the exclusive second floor is reservation only. Note that we had a lot of trouble reserving N their site but we got a reservation by emailing them directly. Upstairs you'll be treated to a welcome snack. It seems as all their signature drinks feature campari in some way. The Wax was delicious and mature, the Paesaggio was a great sweet finisher, and the Sazerac was among the best I've ever had anywhere. From snacks to drinks each item has a funk to it that makes it unique. It may not be your taste, but there is real character and creativity at work here. I can't wait to return. read more

We had to get a Campari Spritz from its birthplace after visiting the Duomo. It was midday so it was packed. We opted for the upstairs (Sala Spiritello) crossing our fingers for AC (which there was). The upstairs is a sophisticated space with a full bar with views looking down into the galleria. We didn't do our homework so, when we were there we learned there is a different menu available from the downstairs space where most prefer with people watching. We were the lonely souls upstairs and had one attendant all to ourselves. He was very friendly and provided great service. The highlights on a hot summer day: AC, Campari wall, partial views of the Duomo & Galleria, Campari Spritz, and Pineapple, Campari Sorbet with candied grapefruit. I ate two for lunch and could've had at least one more. I plan to return for the dessert every time I'm in Roma. Yum! It gets uber busy around midday. Nice spot to stop in for a negroni, boulevardier, or spritz to relax and watch the hordes of people swarm by. Service is a bit abrupt but they speak English and they make a damn fine Campari cocktail. The mosaic behind the bar is beautiful (as are most of the other bar details). The Campari art is great. The snacks they serve you while drinking are tasty. And the prices reflect all of this. I stopped in once for a quick standing negroni at the bar one night, then came back the next day to actually sit at the table. The price differential between the bar negroni and the seated negroni is real. But of course the charm is sitting to enjoy. Don't need to come back. But glad I stopped in. read more

We spent a good few solid hours here on Friday night before heading to see an Opera at La Scala. In terms of location for getting to that destination, this place is perfect. In terms of everything else, not so much. We started downstairs before our upstairs reservation at 6:00 pm. It's a tight squeeze with limited service. The Aperol Spritz is great, and given all the Campari theme, we had to try the Campari spritz, which was bitter but pleasantly so. For the food, the burger is really dry, overcooked, and boring--we only got it for our daughter, who also turned her nose up at it a bit. The caesar salad was a misnomer, but it was fine for getting some light eating in. Upstairs is more pleasant. It's moody with a beautiful bottle decor and larger tables and chairs. All of the fancy cocktails we tried from the menu were lovely. They provide you with little amuse bouche "towers" that have some nice bites, and while the food itself is better than what we got downstairs, but still just OK in the end. Our kiddo got some uber gussied up ravioli that came out with "Italian flag" sauces, and the whole thing was very pretty, but in terms of flavor, could have used a bit more. The eggplant part was mediocre--nothing on it popped. The milanese risotto the pops got was probably the best thing we tried. So, overall, come for the swanky scene and real estate, and enjoy a cocktail or two, but skip the food. read more

When in Milan! What a treat to have Campari where it came from in view of the Duomo and people watching in the snazziest place in town. We chose Negroni Sbagliato (16 EUR) and were given three kinds of nibblies - spicy almonds, some kind of nacho, and an olive (?) or small pickled fruit I couldn't identify (tasty). Mushroom risotto [20 euros, 3.5 stars] -- decent, but I think they used jar or canned mushrooms. The sauce was good, and portion was not large but appropriate. Too pricey for this. 3. Greek Salad [16 euros, 4.0 stars] -- good salad, fresh, but way overpriced for a small bowl of salad. 4. White wine [9 euros, 3.0 stars] -- rating is for the price, not the quality. First time having a bad meal in Italy.Very disappointed with the taste of everything we ordered, especially after having to wait 30 minutes for a table. It started with the Camparini Seltz, which everyone was ordering so my hubby wanted to give it a try. It was too bitter for him, so he probably should had order the seltzer. It then took about another 30 minutes to get our food. We should have noticed that no one was really ordering food but drinks only and now we know why. I ordered the salmon thinking it was a cooked piece of fish and turned out to be 4 slices of smoked salmon on top of bread crumbs mixed with carrots. It wasn't what I expected but I ate it because I was hungry. My hubby ordered the hamburger and he said it tasted like raw beef jerky. We ordered their squid risotto to share and it was horrendous. It was saturated with lemon juice and very aldente, no nice flavor. The only good thing was the bottled water. It took them 20 minutes to get us our check after asking 2 waiters and then the host. This place is where the history of the Aperitivo became a legend! Below you can read some history I found on their menu, but overall the place is really a 5+. It's fairly packed, but the waiting time for the seating area is no more than 15/20 minutes. Every drink is based on Campari or Zucca bitters, and it includes snacks such as nuts, small focaccine, crackers and olives. It all began back in 1867, when the the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II had recently been completed and Gaspare Campari - inventor of the homonymous bitter - opened the famous Caffè Campari, on the corner with Piazza Duomo. In 1915, Gaspare's son, Davide Campari, opened Camparino as a "younger brother" to Caffè Campari. The new bar was fitted out with an innovative system delivering a constant supply of soda water straight from the cellars, and liberty furnishings made by famous Italian artists and artisans. Camparino quickly became a Milanese institution, not only because the Aperitivo became a ritual here, but also because it attracted intellectuals and celebrities who came to discuss politics and culture over a Campari or two. Came to this spot after walking around the Duomo and shopping! It's nice to sit on the patio area which glass so you can see our but doesn't have the noise! They give you snacks to go with the drinks which is really nice, I ate bunch of olives and I don't normally like them, but those were good with my aperol spritz :) Service is nice and they really being Italian just let you take your time even though this is obviously a tourist spot! The price is very good considering the location and it's also Milan(I had aperol spritz for €16 that's half of the size in Florence -_- ) Will recommend if you want to let your legs rest a bit and do some people watching while sipping drinks read more

Against my better judgement, I decided to take this girl I met on the Internet a few weeks ago with me to Italy. (How could a plan like that ever go wrong?) After nearly 24 hours of travel we arrived in Milan exhausted and hungry. Naturally after all that travel my nerves were on edge, and my patience with my travel partner was ebbing. To make matters worse, she had her hangry on. It had all the telltale signs of truly remarkable travel disaster breakup. Enter Signore Campari and this remarkable bar dedicated to his bitter red liquor, and faster than you can say "deus ex machina" my relationship with Internet Girl is back on track. Located on what has to be the best corner for a cafe in all of Milan, this bar welcomes both tourists and locals alike. A throng of people swirling in front of Milan Cathedral and pressing into the shopping plaza at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele make this a great spot for people watching. The interior is gorgeous with its ornate carved Italian counter, wrought iron chandeliers and comfy overstuffed chairs. The white jacketed waitstaff are handsome and efficient. (But per favore, miei compagni americani, please do not be in a rush. This is not the place for that.) Internet Girl and I had Campari based cocktails -- Campari orange for her and Negroni for me -- and the accompanying free snacks. Blood sugar levels elevated and those crazy red alcohol demons doing their dirty work on our thought processes, we stumbled out into Milan's maddening crowds with renewed vigor. Had afternoon drinks here a few times while in Milan. They make a very delicious Aperol spritz (one of my favorite cocktails ever!). Drinks come with nibbles like green olives, mini quiches and addictive potato chips. Wait staff is attentive and they do not rush you at all (actually no one in Italy rushes you - love that!).
