Okay let's get this out there first... the food was decent. That's the only reason I'm giving them a 2 rather than a 1. I ordered a combo that was listed on the menu for $9.99. The waiter asked if I wanted cheese on my enchilada, which is pretty standard, and I said yes. The check came and the combo cost was $10.99 with an additional charge of $.75 for the cheese. If I'd known that I wouldn't have gotten cheese on top!! The total with tax was $12.73, and there was an additional 4% upcharge on the whole total, including tax, for using a card to pay. So the bill was $13.24 for a $9.99 meal. First and last time eating here. read more

Queso is good. Salsa has a lot of garlic somewhat of an Italian mix. We ordered the combination planner. We got a ground beef chimichanga a ground beef burrito and a chicken enchilada. Food came out fast with a smile. The chicken is shredded and full of vegetables. I was not expecting that. The chimney and the burrito we're both per usual. Chimichangas are my benchmark for Mexican food. This one was just okay. The rice has onions in it. Also kind of a surprise. I couldn't believe the quality at such a great price. Whether it's the pork, chicken, beef they are so flavorful and most likely cooked lo and flow to de roll those flavors. If your dish comes with onions and peppers, they will be absolutely caramelized delicious yummyness. I can't leave out the most important thing, the salsa!! Another nice Mexican spot in town, not too different from some other similar ones. The inside is a good size, not too big not too small, and the atmosphere is classic. The staff is nice... they don't come around to the table often but it wasn't really a big issue either. The only thing was it took a bit for the checks to get to us, but it also might have felt more like that because we were needing to get going. They have the thicker more yellow colored chips that I'm not a huge fan of, but it was lunch and the food got there pretty quick so I didn't eat many. Their salsa is definitely a mild one, even kind of sweet I'd say. I didn't ask to see if they had a spicier one because I knew it'd be a shorter visit because it was more of a quick lunch break. If I go again maybe I'll ask, though the regular salsa wasn't bad either. The menu had a good amount of options. I was happy that they had a lunch menu because I wasn't in the mood for something super heavy or huge. I ended up with the lunch carnitas, which maybe were a bit more than I initially had in mind but also I'm not complaining haha! They were yummy and the portion was good, especially considering it was from the lunch menu like I said. I only wish they came in verde sauce, or had a chile verde option on the menu (I'm always a huge sucker for that). I still really enjoyed them as they were though! The rice and beans were also good, and the meal also came with some pico, guac, and two tortillas. It wasn't crazy amazing or anything, and again felt sort of cookie cutter average Mexican spot (which is probably why 3 stars instead of 4... at least for now) but the food was good so I'd go back to try more and to learn more about what possibly makes this place different from others! read more

I have been hearing a lot of good things about Campesino's here in Jenks. I finally tried it last night. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside. Well done and inviting. We were created and waited on quickly. They have a large menu with something for everyone. I chose the enchiladas rancheros and was not disappointed. It was full of flavor and the portion more than filled me up. The salsa served with chips was excellent as well. The kids menu was very large as well and seemed to really be family friendly. Very Good Mexican Food in Jenks! You can argue all day long about Tex-Mex vs. Mexican. The distinction is becoming so blurred doesn't make much difference. The way restaurants mix things up anymore, the difference between the two can depend on which side of the plate you are talking about. There is the discussion of yellow cheese vs. white cheese, corn vs. flour tortillas, and cumin, chili powder, and chili peppers vs. none. For me, I break it into spicy and hot vs. mildly seasoned (or very little seasoning). My experience is that the food in most restaurants that promote themselves as traditional Mexican tends to be mild to very lightly seasoned with little to no heat from chili peppers, and they use mostly white cheese. There is the exception! If the menu item ends with "diablo" or "diabla" it may not be spicy, but it should have some heat to it! For my one time visit to Campesinos, based on the food we had and looking at the menu, their food tends to be on the mild, lightly spiced side of the Mexican food argument. We had the Pollo Asado and the Enchiladas Surpremas. The Pollo Assado was a thin, lightly seasoned chicken breast covered with a cheese sauce, mushrooms, bell pepper slices, onions and tomatoes. It was a very fresh, tasty meal. I went for the Enchiladas Surpremas, because I wanted to try the flavors of the various meats they serve. It was five enchiladas, (cheese, bean, ground beef, shredded beef, and chicken). They can be ordered with red sauce or grated cheese on top. I went with the cheese, so it wouldn't cover up the taste of the fillings in the enchiladas. All of the enchiladas were good. The bean and cheese enchiladas didn't have any seasoning at all and the meats were lightly seasoned. Even though I prefer the spicy hot Mexican food, I have to give Coampesinos credit for serving quality, good tasting food. It is a clean restaurant, the service is good, the food is mildly spiced, and it served up hot and fresh! read more

Even though Jenks is way out of our regular stomping grounds, we had occasion to be in the area around lunchtime, and the Yelp! reviews looked too good to pass up. We arrived and were seated promptly. Menus, chips and salsa also arrived promptly. Drink orders were take and delivered promptly. Sense a theme here? These guys were on top of the service. The menu is fairly robust, with mostly mainstream tex mex offerings, along with a few distinctly unique dishes. Not being up for a possible hit and miss on chili verde (I'm still sore over the last debacle), I instead followed the lead of a fellow Yelp!er and went with the pollo al queso, which is a delicious chopped, grilled, spiced chicken breast served under a generous dollop of queso, with the de rigeur rice and beans. Mine was outstanding. In fact I think my first words were "Holy S**t, this is good!" The Wife went with pollo asada, which was a thin, grilled chicken breast under peppers, onions and mushrooms. Essentially a variant on fajitas. It even came with tortillas if you wanted to go there. We had a queso order to start, to accompany the chips and salsa. ALL were good. The Wife even commented that even the Dr. Pepper was good. If I have anything to point out that could use improvement, it was the noise level. Only three booths were filled, and between the construction dudes in one booth, the ruckus the servers were adding, and the godawful music that was playing, the noise level was a little higher than I would like. We also sat right by the bar, and got to hear a lot of noise from bottles being thrown away, etc., which is why I never, ever, sit in a bar if I have a choice. First time for us here. Casual atmosphere, decent prices, your typical Mexican restaurant. Both our dishes were excellent in flavor and portions. The house margaritas were so-so. But what blew us away was how incredibly fast our food arrived after ordering... it couldn't have been more than three minutes. I rate this as the worst tasting food. We had lunch cheese enchiladas and chimichangas (which came out with the wrong meat). Both dishes were small in size. Mixed dish of enchilada, chimichanga and chili relleno were not adequately heated up for service. Refried beans were watered down. I brought most of it home where I could heat everything up to a hot temperature. Ingredients, though, were neat and clean. I might give them one more try since they are conveniently located. If I have the same experience on a second time around, I'll send it back to be properly reheated. read more
