I've been itching to check out this store, and I'm really not sure why I never ventured in here sooner. Maybe it just wasn't the right time. This past year my urge to hike has kicked into overdrive and lately I've been all about outdoor activities - so going in here not only cured some boredom, but got me excited for the warmer months and getting back out on the trails. The shop shares a building with another business. Once you go up the steps and into the building, the shop is straight back (and pretty hard to miss with the signs!) This shop is pretty large, with everything and anything to fill your outdoor needs. Tons of apparel with popular outdoor brands like Carhartt, hiking boots, and other useful gear for camping and hiking. You can get snow shoes and chains here for your winter hikes, and there's even some gear for your dog! I only came in here for the socks but I also left with these cool fake "skipping stone" dog toys, and a double sided spoon/fork. Total score! Looking forward to returning in the summer to fulfill more of my hiking needs. P.S. I love my socks. They're stylish and keep my feet warm!

I must have written that review way before I gave myself enough time to decide if I liked the socks or not, but here I am 4 years later and I now EXCLUSIVELY WEAR DARN TOUGH SOCKS. Thank you, Aurora Outfitters, for turning me onto these wonderful socks. Also thank you, past tense me for clairvoyantly deciding to purchase said socks and change my life forever. Gear For Adventure is the place - Quality clothing, footwear, and gear focused on hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, etc. AND locally owned and operated. Great selection, great prices - sales folks are knowledgeable and have thankfully provided recommendations for items that I've greatly enjoyed for years! Take your chances at the chain stores or get the "right item" for your outdoor activity at GFA.

This one lady in particular spent so much time with me..she took me through the different options for rain coats that would fit my needs. Finally settling on the mountain classic anorak.. love that there is a wide front pocket and a drawstring hood. Next she took me over to the pant section, where she recommended the comfort trail pants. Once I tried these on I fell in love, super comfy and easy to move around in. I was surprised at how thin but protective they are. I also purchased a primaloft packaway vest, perfect to keep my core warm but still able to move. I am so impressed with this place and the service will keep me coming back. After shopping here I am all set for my vacation!

They helped us pick out a variety of PFDs for our kids ranging from 3-10 yr. Not only is the quality of rentals excellent (better than any kayak/board rental i've ever used) but the staff is extremely friendly and generous! They were able to deliver and pickup our rentals which made things very easy for us. We thoroughly enjoyed going out on the lake several times and were able to take 2 adults and 5 kids out at once with just the tandem and SUP. Would definitely use for future family camping trips!
